Golden Chick

A truly bizarre parking lot and entrance, but there is a good product waiting for you inside. I’m not sure if the builder spilled something on the blueprint when they built this place, or if it’s a re-​purposed building, but once you park and get inside you’re in for a treat. I chose the four tender meal spicy and a side of dirty rice, the meal also came with a yeast roll. It was plenty of food for me and under $ 8.00. The chicken was crispy and the spicy seasoning was perfect. The inside remained piping hot and juicy. The dirty rice was a nice side and it was a good change of pace from the usual mac and cheese or mashed potatoes. If you are still hungry after your chicken meal you can crush some free soft serve, always a nice perk.

I did a drive thru, so this is my drive thru experience.
First off, this location is very tight and small area. I drive a sedan 4 door and my poor tires were hitting some curves and curbs because of it’s curvy drive-​tight drive thru.
I got the #1 which comes choice of spicy or regular, 2 choice of sides, yeast roll and drink.
It was pretty quick and efficient. I ate the yeast roll driving back to work, it had a little spice to it because it was sitting on top of the chicken so that added some kick to the roll, I liked that.
I came back to the office, the fries were yummy! For a «small» bag, they loaded a lot of fries. They were crispy and good. I had 2 ranch drips which was great, and the chicken tenders where nicely cooked, juicy and big.
All in all I’m pleased, the location/​area/​parking lot can be improved but the food is delicious and well cooked! :)

There are salad days and there are golden chick days. I had a golden chick day. Driving thru their old drive thru system where you can hardly hear what they are saying. I saw a 6 dollar deal which is 3 chicken tenders one side, drink and a yeast roll. Sounds like a lot of food but it was a snack for me. Literally enhaled everything within 15 minutes! The chicken to the roll, everything was good. I also added jalapeño poppers and they were good too. I consider golden chick to be a must go for chicken tender.
They don’t coke products just DP…

worst fried chicken I’ve ever had. extremely overcooked hard and dry and it was dark meat.
flavor of stale grease was in every bite.
mack and cheese was tasteless.

I gotta be honest I went at 11:30 Saturday evening got great customer service super hot fresh food that’s all you ask for when you go out to eat fast food bottom line service was great food was great I will be back

I will never eat here or order from here again. The delivery guy was over 30 minutes late from the timeframe I was given and he STOLE $ 2 as a tip. Let me explain how you steal a tip: Out of the 4 orders we had, only one person had cash. Her order was $ 9.63. I gave him a $ 20 and he said he only had $ 8 on me and when he came in he didn’t have a pen. I was to sign all of the receipts from the cards I had and he was to go get me $ 2 more out of his van. The Security guy at our office had a pen, so it eliminated him having to go for that. I watched him take the receipts and tell me that he would return with the $ 2. I stood there, like an idiot, and watched him get in the van and drive off without even attempting to return with the money.
Oh yeah, and this just happened… less than 30 minutes ago.

Oh my goodness, I just reintroduced Golden Chick in my life again. Where have I been in my life??? I see this location from the Richardson Library which I go to a lot yet I have not stepped inside Golden Chick. I have only been to this store 2x, counting today. The other time was years ago and I don’t even remember if I got food. Today I got the 4 piece tenders (spicy) which comes with a roll and a side with a drink. The tenders were so crispy yet tender and moist (on the inside). I was so stuffed that I couldn’t finish my side almost but being the secret fatty, I did. All that for 7.57. I would come here again all the time to satisfy my fried chicken cravings. The fatty in me would have taken an ice cream to go but I was too stuffed and it was cold outside.
Oh and the staff was very friendly and kind.

For fast food fried chicken, I’m actually liking Golden Chick. I’ve never seen them anywhere before moving to Dallas. Sure, I’ll say that it’s no Super Chix (which I do love), but this is a fried chicken place, and not so much a chicken sandwich place. And yes, I’m aware that they offer rotisserie chicken too, but I haven’t bothered with that, because of all the southern items in the menu making me think I should go with fried.
The yeast rolls are good, the fried chicken are good, and the menu offerings are good. Even the seating atmosphere inside is pretty nice for a fast food place. So what is there to complain about? Service maybe? I don’t care, not in a fast food place — but even so, I didn’t encounter bad service eating inside.
But overall, I thought Golden Chick can compete well with the other national fried chicken name brands (Church’s, KFC, Popeye’s, etc).
So yeah, I’m giving a good review for this fast food joint. Just cuz I can. And you Dallasites better be proud of your state homegrown chain.

I’ve come here several times for lunch during work. Only been inside once when they had the drive thru closed for some type of construction. There’s usually a line in the drive thru, but it moves at a good pace. My food is always hot and fresh, and the roll is yummy. I usually don’t like the way fountain drinks taste at fast food restaurants, but their Big Red soda is good.
It’s fast food, it is what it is. I haven’t had any problems, so that’s great.

I’ve grown up having Golden Chick deliver to my home. I’ve had a couple of bad experiences in the past but I still love their chicken.
I called on a weekday at 11:50am, the phone rang over 20 times before I hung up. This happened 3 times before I got through to someone. When I requested delivery she told me it would be at least an hour because they didn’t have a delivery driver on the schedule for the day & she’d have to find someone. It was almost lunch time on a week day & there’s no delivery driver scheduled?! I ordered Jimmy Johns & it was delivered by 12:30.

Total fail… We went to this location to get lunch while we watched a kids tee-​ball game. Ordered 16pc strip with double fries for my 3 children, my mother and I. Upon arrival at the game, we realized that instead of the original that we ordered, they had given us the spicy strips instead, which my kids can’t eat. After leaving the game, we had to stop somewhere to get lunch for the kids (age 6 and under). After that we returned the chicken. They have us a very hard time for a refund stating that they couldn’t, even though our receipt stated original and it was clearly spicy in the returned box. We will never return here for any reason. Complete and utter ridiculousness. If I could rate this zero stars, I would. Thanks for nothing!

The wicked wings were recommended. I am not familiar with their menu. I ordered 18 wings. Think it was the mgr. I said that’s all. He took off to fill the order. While he was gone I saw they had mac n cheese. My honey loves mac n cheese. He came back. I ordered the mac. He seemed to be perturbed to have to slide his card. He got the Mac put it into the bag. I paid. He was talking to his employee and never acknowledged me again. I am used to better customer support. I may have to look for another store. If I like the food. I am off now to find out.

They now serve breakfast. I had biscuit and gravy with fruit. Everything was fresh and great tasting

This place is hit or miss, sometimes the chicken is really fresh and tastes great and sometimes it’s the complete opposite.
The staff is usually pretty friendly and the place is always clean. My favorite part of eating here is the rolls, the raspberry lemonade and the complimentary ice cream.

Absolutely disgusted at what I just ate 10 minutes ago while I waited for this app to download. And the only reason I got it was so I could rate this place.
The chicken tenders were so dry that you could’ve lit a match stick on them. There was no flavor that the only thing I could taste was the zing. I’m being serious.
Either the chicken was from last night or something else, but what I ate was disgusting. I should’ve let the manager know but I didn’t want to be the only one to comment on the chicken. Never coming back.
I want my $ 7.50 back.

I love their wings!!! I always ask for fresh so it takes a bit longer to come out. It’s definitely worth the wait. They do have a lot of choices if your not in the mood for spicy and have super sweet tea!

We usually have a good experience at Golden Chick but this time, nothing went right.
They close everyday at 10:00 pm and we walked in at 9:20 pm, 40 minutes prior to closing. The cashier was already giving us a death stare before we even walked in. We were debating if we wanted to dine in or take out, and since there was 40 minutes til closing, we decided to dine in. When we were ordering though, the cashier lady pushed us to have it to go so we said yes. They were already trying to kick us out with 40 minutes left of them being open. They also messed up our orders by giving us not what we ordered. When waiting for our order, the cashier lady went and locked the doors and took a smoke break outside, instead of catering to our needs.
They offer free ice cream with every meal purchase, but they were already out when we got there and didn’t offer to refill it.
The only good thing about the visit was the worker in the back who served us our food.

LOVE their yeast rolls and chicken! Their fried chicken is not too oily and has the right amount of crispiness. The yeast rolls are so soft and tasty!
We also ordered a medium drink of sweet tea. Their medium looked like a large! Sweet Tea was better than most. I would not recommend their gravy though. Their gravy was very runny and barely had any taste.
This is one of the best places to get fried chicken! Highly recommend it!

I really wish Golden Chick comes to houston.
Those tenders are money. Crispy on the outside, Juicy on the inside plus the red pepper powder gives it a nice kick.
KFC, popeyes, & church’s need to step up their game to compete with these tenders.
I also love their gravy, mashed potatoes, rolls, & fried okra.
I’ll order a box of fried okra and eat on the road if I’m driving down to Htown.

Never have I ever had fried chicken like this. I don’t even LIKE fried chicken– or at least, I didn’t think I did after growing up with only Church’s and Popeyes and Raising Cane’s. Eat your heart out, competitors. Golden Chick is where it’s at!
I had never been before, so I asked the guy taking my order if the tenders or the fried chicken were more popular, and he immediately said the tenders. I got a junior combo with two tenders, a yeast roll, fries, drink, and gravy.
The restaurant is shockingly clean (another advantage over Church’s and Popeyes!) and has tons of choices for soda and tea. I got the apple soda and mixed in a small amount of raspberry lemonade… yummers! Ice cream is free with your meal. Service is fast and the employees are super friendly.
The roll (which a sign said is «almost world-​famous”– I appreciate the modesty, GC!) was so good that I went back to the register and bought six more… and ended up eating them all within a day. The tenders were really small, but I was actually really full when I was done… so I ate for relatively cheap… score!
The spicy chicken was awesome. I was texting my dad, a fried chicken fanatic in Houston, the whole meal telling him how delicious Golden Chick is. I’m already dreaming about going back, but I’m waiting it out as along as possible for my health’s sake.
TL;DR: Better than any chicken you’ve ever had, may contain trace amounts of crack (how else can it be this good?!). Get the tenders, and go spicy.
