The first three to four times we ordered from Custer Wok the food was great. However, the last two times we got dinner from Custer Wok it has been very obvious that they have a new cook. The hot and sour soup has had no spice to it. The chicken chow mein was so bland that it tasted like boiled chicken and vegetables in water. The hot mustard(which they charge 50 cents for a 1 oz. serving) was so watered down that it was liquid with no mustard heat or flavor. This was our last order from them and my suggestion is to pass this one by and find another place to buy Chinese.

Worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I ordered chicken egg foo young and shrimp rice noodle. Looked and tasted horrible. Took 1 hour and 20 minutes to deliver… never again. I so wish I would have read these reviews before ordering

We were thinking we were getting a great deal with their dinner special… but let’s just say you get what you pay for. It was a lot of food, but the quality of food was probably the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. My boyfriend’s meal looked and smelled so bad I was afraid he was going to get sick from it. It almost smelled rotten and it made us lose our appetites. I fee bad writing this, the woman on the phone and the delivery driver were both nice… but people should be warned what to expect from here. It seems we aren’t the only ones with a bad experience either. It was a waste of money and I am surprised we didn’t get sick.

Took an hour for delivery, orange chicken tasted more like honey bbq, chicken lo mein had no seasoning it was just bland noodles. They didn’t give us any kind of sauce to even try to help it. Bonus: The delivery man stood at the door after counting his tip and started making«brrr» noises as if to say he wanted more money because it was cold out. We stared at each other awkwardly for a few seconds then I shut the door.

This use to be one of the best Chinese food places in Richardson back in the day. I was sooooo looking forward to having their food tonight since I haven’t been there in nearly 2 decades. HUGE let down! We got the family meal deal to go. Two soups, rices, entrees, and egg roles. The value is great($ 19) but you get what you pay for. The whole order was a disappointment and if we hadn’t gotten it to-go, we would have sent it back. I got the egg drop soup which is usually my favorite and I’ve never had one I haven’t liked… Until today. This was lackluster flavorless egg water. GROSS! But it’s ok, you have the option to buy stale crunchy noodles to put in it for 50 cents. Next was the egg roll, it was good but looked like a prepackaged store bought brand. And, alas, there was no sweet and sour sauce. Ok, rice… They can’t mess up rice right… WRONG! I opened up my «fried rice» and all it was was rice that had some soy sauce on it and had been over cooked. No egg, no fried rice veggies… NOTHING!!! Ok, for the entrees we got chicken lomein and broccoli beef. The lomein followed suit with the rest of the meal, under whelming and flavorless. My favorite part of the meal(and that’s saying favorite very loosely) was the broccoli beef. The sauce was flavorful and viscous. I’m glad the broccoli and beef was swimming in it because I poured it over the flavorless lomein noodles. The fortune cookie at the end was terrific, good to see that somethings never change. I will not EVER go back here! Childhood food memory smashed, I know it was good when I was younger… I think! Two stars, one for the price and one for the broccoli beef.

Do not eat from this place, it will mess your stomach up! I ordered orange chicken & hot n sour soup… simple right?! NOT! The chicken was DARK, I knew something wasn’t right upon looking at it, even worse, it taste OLD!!!(Look at the pic) Like they rewarmed some old chicken which caused it to get dark & hard. I called the place & explained my dismay to the people. Lady CLAIM it was made fresh & didn’t do anything to appease my dissatisfaction. Not wanting my money to go to waste, I ate it anyways. Been in the restroom ALLAFTERNOON! Don’t say I didn’t warn u.

Today is my daughters birthday and for days she has been asking for teriyaki chicken. I decided to try Custer Wok from Richardson because they put a menu on my door the other day. I called at 5:30 and she told me that they could deliver to our address. She took my card info, placed my order, and said it would be an hour. It is now almost 7… I called at 6:45 for her to tell me they couldn’t deliver because it was too far away… WHAT???/ It is my daughters 6th bday… she wants teriyaki… she goes to bed at 7:30 and at 6:45 you tell me you can’t deliver to us??? She also told me she tried to call me 4 times but a man answered… UMMM no… Its my cell phone and I did not have ANY missed calls. I am so upset. Pei Wei to the rescue but my goodness I would not recommend Custer Wok to anyone!

My husband and I enjoyed their food well enough. However, after our third order, I have two broken teeth as a result of a staple in my food that was delivered. I took the staple along with the remaining food containers to their restaurant and showed it to the manager, Michael. He recognized it as the ones they use in packaging. I explained what had happened and he told me to go to the dentist and obtain a quote for repair. Depending on the total, Michael said they would pay me directly or file a claim with their insurance, Travelers. The total for two crowns was about $ 2600, so they told me to file with Travelers. I did so, but Travelers denied the claim! Now Custer Wok will not provide me with any restitution! There are far too many, and better, Chinese restaurants around, so I strongly urge you to avoid this place! It can be a very painful and expensive experience!

Ordered delivery from here tonight. I live about 5 minutes away. She said it would be 45 minutes, which is already too long for Chinese. After 1 hour I called to check on my food and she said it was on the way. At 1 hour and 30 minutes I called to cancel the order and the lady said OK and was hanging up on me as I was trying to explain why. The guy showed up with the food at 1 hr 45 min but I had already left to get other food. They obviously don’t care about common courtesy or my business. I can’t speak to the food, as I never actually received it, and never will because I’ll never order from here again. Please Custer Wok, don’t place any more menu’s on my door. It’ll be a waste of your time. There are too many options for Chinese to have to put up with this kind of service.

I decided to get carry out from this place the other night. Big mistake. I went there to order and sat and waited for it to be ready. If I had noticed that the dining area was a million degrees, if it is air conditioned at all, I wouldn’t have ordered. I almost melted just waiting for my food to be ready. I got two good spring rolls and some weird chicken mai fun. The noodles were not soft and the chicken had a weird texture. I will not be back.

First time customer. Menu had lots of selections, timely delivery at 7pm & family of 6 with plenty left over for lunch tomorrow. Portions were big, food was great and arrived hot(friendly man, looked like maybe the owner). They must be making improvements, looking at other reviews I’m confused as my experience is reflected in my 4 star rating. Thanks for a good experience Custer Wok. See you again real soon!

I needed to eat lunch and wanted Chinese food. I was in the area and thought I’d try this place out since the place I normally go to overcooks the meats and they’re dry or rubbery. Well, Custer Wok, I don’t know how you did it, but you managed to be worse than the first place. I knew I was close enough to Chinatown that I should have just gone there, but I didn’t. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. First off, the chicken was overcooked and they used chicken beast which probably didn’t help. The sauce was actually decent. There was one other guy in the store eating, sitting at a table. He was watching something on his phone with the volume up. I wish people would be more courteous and use headphones. Zero Bruce stars.

This place is horrid!!! Do not eat here. Run Run Run… Please don’t waist your time. I ordered there 2 times. The first time my food arrived cold, so I called to just explain to the manger on duty and they hung up in my face. The 2nd time we ordered which was some time later they were running a special for my drinks for free, they did not include in my order. To top that the food was DISTGUSTING, no flavor. The texture of the rice was just wrong and the chicken I ordered was BURNT!!! So if you want to waist your money go ahead.

**Please note that I’m adjusting my 5 star review down to 2 due to our 3 most recent dining experiences. I don’t know if the management has changed, but the service here is now atrocious. This specific review details the most recent delivery attempt.** We’ve probably ordered from this place 50 times. The food is good; nothing spectacular, just good and CHEAP! Some dishes are caustically salty while others have very delicate flavors. My favorite dishes are twice cooked pork, curry beef, orange beef, cho-cho beef(appetizer), and crab rangoons. If you decide to order the orange beef my suggestion is that you dilute the sauce it comes in by about 50%… it’s that salty. The only reason this place doesn’t get a lower rating is because I have great respect for Chinese joints that offer their own house made hot mustard. While the food is good it’s certainly not worth waiting an hour and a half when you’re told«45 minutes». We only live ¼ mile from this place and usually would just go pick it up, but when we have company over we opt for delivery. It’s very sad that what finally prompted me to write a review was the past 3 orders taking an absurdly long time to arrive at our doorstep, lukewarm. The delivery guy even had the nerve to ask me why he didn’t get a tip(Disclaimer: happened only once). I gladly obliged him and explained that we don’t tip for that level of service. It’s not my problem if they were shorthanded delivery drivers. We ordered at 9:10 and did not get the food until 10:30 ish. We were literally calling the restaurant to cancel the order at 10:20, but unfortunately even the staff had opted to go home; nobody answered. If anyone from custer wok gets a chance to read this here are the possible scenarios I was willing to accept when I called to place an order: 1) We’re very busy and will not be able to deliver your order for at least an hour or more. Is that ok? 2) We’re too busy to take your order, sorry. 3) It’s too late to place a delivery order. I called 4 different times over the following week trying to get hold of a manager to address this to no avail. I’m really at my wits end here so I’m just going to pass the warning along and probably will never order again.

My manager and I got take out for lunch. We split a honey sesame chicken lunch entrée and a General Tso’s chicken entrée. The fried rice was probably the best part of the meal. It was ok, not particularly impressive in any sense. The ambiance in the place was kinda weird though. It was like 9000 degrees, I have no idea how anyone was upright. Can’t say I would go here again Good Parts– Fast, friendly service. Fresh food. Bad Parts– Food not all that good, weird environment.

I love me some fast food Chinese, and having driven past this place multiple times I finally stopped in. I really wanted to like this place, but for many many reasons this place was taking two steps back for every step forward. The inside was clean, but had a lot of random junk around. The egg drop soup was good, but the wonton strips were beyond stale. The general tso’s was hot and fresh and the rice was well… rice, but the egg roll wasn’t hot. I really wanted to make this place a part of my work lunch rotations, but sadly this isn’t going to make the list.

I’m pretty sure this building was built in the 60’s or something. It looks that old inside and out. The food is not so good. The stir fry is very watery like soup. Will not go back.

Me oh my. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Of course, I ordered delivery, so I’m not sure what the restaurant experience is. The food was good, and actually better than my previous Chinese delivery favorite. The appetizers are good, and the entrees are better. Everything tastes good, not much else I can say. It’s not the pinnacle of Chinese cuisine by any means, but for delivery, it’s pretty good. And a tip: you probably don’t want to order the 2 cans of soda with the $ 15 purchase unless you plan on drinking it later. The cans are placed in a bag with the food, so it ends up being warm by the time it reaches you.

I really wanted to like this place after reading all of the reviews. There aren’t any really great Chinese food places in Dallas to speak of, so after seeing this on Unilocal,we decided to give it a shot. Upon walking into this restaurant it smelled like rotting trash inside. I was hesitant to order but I’d already walked in and I’d feel really awkward about walking back out. I ordered orange chicken. Service was friendly enough and quick. On the menu they had some great deals, especially for 2 people. Got my order to go so I waited until we got home to open up my dish. Not as much meat as I expected based on previous reviews. It’s probably the least amount of meat I’ve gotten from any Chinese restaurant in the area(First Chinese BBQ, Oriental Express, Ming’s Place, etc). The weird thing was that there was absolutely no orange flavor whatsoever to my orange chicken. Also, usually orange chicken as a nice thick, sometimes almost crunchy breading to it. This orange chicken had a very thin breading that turned exceptionally wet and soggy being in the takeout box for the 10 minute ride back to our apartment. The chicken pieces were just sort of rolling around inside the soggy breading, so I’m not sure what type of process they use to bread and fry, but it didn’t work for me… at all. Won’t be back.
