The food is great. I went about sunset time. The place was 100% full, but the service was great and the buffet was maintained to be full of fresh items all the times. The owner is a really customer-care-oriented type of person. He checked our table several times. Make sure you reserve your table beforehand if you are going in a peak time. I have been in this restaurant for a long time. I used to go to Kasra. Then Dean started his place and I followed him. Then the new owner bought it from him and improved the restaurant so much in both customer service and the taste. Last night the Ferni was really dry, but I hope they will fix this soon. Go for it with no hesitation. The price is ranging between $ 10.99 to $ 14.99. I am not a big fan of $ 14.99 and I hope they can reconsider this price. I think it should be $ 10.99 to $ 12.99 max.

Came here for their $ 14.99 a person buffet. 4 kinds of meat and a number of veggie items for a total of about 10 – 15 items. Nothing too spicy. Nothing too extraordinary. Overall good food!!!

First time here, We had Iftar and we were almost 17 persons(3 families), we all enjoy the quality of food, everything was perfect. The food test all fresh, i loved the red rice, not sure what they call it. The owner was very nice and he supervise all work and connect with all tables, I’m sure we will try it in next 2 weeks. my only point is that they do not have spicy food option, hope they would consider adding it in the future

Boy I just love this place. I would marry it if I could. I just love the assortment of salads. I also load up on the red onion salad, it tastes so refreshing. I love the spinach and beans. The crunchy texture of the falafel is something that I can almost taste in my dreams. The buttery sheen on the rice glistens beautifully that I’m near tears when I see it. Please don’t get me started on the eggplant. I savor every bite and already start planning my return trip. The staff is pretty familiar with me by now I think. I hope they don’t get sick of my face. I plan to dine here for years to come. As a side note, with no criticism of the restaurant, it makes me just cringe to no end when I hear screaming, untamed, unruly children who are running around in the restaurant causing a safety hazard and being nuisances. It makes me further angry to see their careless parents behave so lackadaisically about the little beasts’ behavior. While I’m trying to ingest all the deliciousness, It completely ruins my dining experience.

Recovering slowly from the worst food coma ever haha! But definitely NOT a bad thing when reviewing a restaurant. We came to gobble up an all-you-can-eat Iftar buffet! The restaurant was packed with guests but well managed! I called in around 2pm the same day to make my reservation for 4. The restaurant was modern, colorful, and sophisticated. There was also a gentleman playing the piano in the corner! Our waitress was friendly and patient, despite having to repeat some of the same things 4 times :/sorry. The restaurant offered a free specialty drink with Unilocal check-in. There were four options, but I ended up going with the mango-flavored, cream soda. After a 16 hour fast, let me tell ya, that drink was GOOD. It had the fizz and sweetness of sprite, with a creamy, whipped-cream-like taste. It had a fruity taste not really like mango, but still really good. Think cream life savors. Now for the buffet. They had a wide selection of sauces and dips and salads. All the items were fresh. They had to have at least 15 different selections of rice, meat dishes, and veggies! Lentil with curried beef, gyros, kabobs, beef with spinach and beans, falafel, and the list goes on. The standouts for me were the crispy Persian samosas! They were like a cross between an empanada and fried dumplings. Crispy-fried perfection with a bit of chicken. The kobideh beef kabobs had a really good char on them without being dry. The overall best for me had to be the chicken kabobs! Perfectly cooked, tender pieces grilled of chicken. I sprinkled a little sumac on them and BAM they were amazing. The ONLY tiny complaint I could even think of was that we were literally 5 inches away from the tables beside us, which was a little awkward. The noise level was also a little loud. However, their food more than makes up for it! I also really appreciated how the manager went around table to table to great guests! The waiters work together as a team to quickly clear tables, give the tab, and checkout. The kitchen staff kept the buffet stocked and the area clean. Exceptional service.

Delicious, flavorful, buffet. Nice, friendly service. Loved the variety and the walnut chicken in pomegranate sauce was soooo good. Everything was very fresh. All the meats were very tender and tasty. Loved the rice dishes. Nice variety of drink options also. Will definitely be back.

Finally tried this place on Friday evening and so happy we did! We opted for the buffet to try a bunch of different things and pretty much everything tasted was fresh and delicious. It is BYOB which is a nice plus for those that want to bring wine, etc. Staff was friendly and attentive. Only negative was the temp. inside, it was a bit warm, but I think they were experiencing AC issues(and had a repair person there to try and get it figured out.)

Went to Iftaar/Dinner buffet last night. Price was 14.99/person. I believe drinks are included in this price. The buffet had enough fresh foods and they were going really fast. The owner was helping and putting more food in the buffet section. We did book a reservation and got there on time. There was a man playing his instrument in the back. It was nice, but they should have told him to stop during maghrib at least… but we got over it because we could hardly hear him play over the chatter. Yesterday was a really hot day and we sat next to the outside window/door, which led to the outside patio(A HUGEMISTAKE). People were going in and out and the heat wave was making me sweat. Next time I will not be sitting next to the window. :) buffet had lots of fresh salads, and rice and other side items. 4 types of meat(fried fish, beef kabob, grilled chicken and gyro). My husband said he never had this fresh gyro meat anywhere. It was not dry at all like the other places. :)

I’m siting in the patio typing this review while my belly is digesting everything I sent its way. Definitely come for the buffet. Worth every penny. Don’t expect a huge variety like at chinese buffets, but there are plenty of dishes and they all are flavorful. All the grilled meats were great. The other dishes were all tasty. My favorite was the beef cooked with a pomegranate sauce and the chick peas. Service was good and the manager or owner was checking on everybody. I definitely recommend this place. I can’t tolerate spicy food, and nothing here was too spicy. I’ll be coming back and telling my friends about this place.

This was a delightful experience! The restaurant is very clean. They had a menu or buffet choice. We chose buffet. They have a excellent variety of food. We sat down and took that first bite and was really amazed at how fresh it was! Didn’t taste like yesterday’s food! The waitress was so sweet to us, and many people came and asked if we were enjoying our meal. What a wonderful time we had! One of our favorites and we WILL be back! Thank you and DONTGOAWAY!

A hidden gem in Richardson. A small pleasant Persian restaurant with large flavors. We went for dinner and did the buffet for its variety. Price is reasonable. They bring out fresh warm pita to the table. So hard to resist… Mmm warm pita. The hummus, tabouli, and mast-o-khiar were my favorite dips. The baba ghanoush was my least favorite. Both the chicken and koobideh(beef) were super moist and flavorful. Usually I’m hesitant about chicken since it can be dry… But this was the complete opposite. The little bit of sauté beef and split pea stew we had was awesome. I wished they had more of it. The kitchen replaces the kabobs regularly with fresh meat. The stews seem to be sitting out more and not as readily replaced. Some of the other dishes looked a little too oily for our group since we were trying to eat more on the healthy side that day. We did give dessert a try … Not the best. one bite was enough. All the different rice puddings and mango pudding was too sweet. Not worth the calories. Would go for the salad, dips, and main courses. Skip the dessert section. The waiter, she was very nice and attentive. She refilled our water and tea pot regularly. A nice local establishment with excellent food. Worth a visit.

This is the best Mediterranean restaurant I have been to. The name is befitting of the freshness of the food. I was full after eating there during the lunch buffet, but I didn’t feel sluggish afterwards. That’s when you know you had a lot of good, healthy food. Everything was delicious. The wait staff were friendly, courteous, and professional. There are other Mediterranean restaurants closer to me, but I prefer to travel to this one from now on. The location is fantastic too. It’s directly off Central Expressway, and in a nice shopping plaza that includes The Alamo movie theater. I give this restaurant two thumbs up and four snaps!

Found this place on a whim for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It doesn’t look like much and it’s in a strip mall type of location, but it is really good. It’s Mediterranean/Greek /Indian type food. We were there on Sunday afternoon and they had the buffet, which I highly recommend. They give you a basket of bread and then you get what you want from the buffet. It’s not huge, but everything I tried was really good. The service was great and everyone was very nice. I will definitely be back.

Came here last minute on a weeknight and ate the buffet, which we felt was a little pricey, so lunch is probably the best value here(as with most places lol). Everything that we tried was pretty and fresh. They even had Tahdigg!!! Super excited about that. It was more on the crunchy(very crunchy) side, but I haven’t seen it very often, so I was more than happy to devour it(probably because I didn’t know what it was called until recently). Their mini samosas were so cute! My boyfriend said they were good, but I was unable to partake because of the cheese in them :(. At least they were vegetarian… This was a good last minute choice for us, and fresher than some other mediterranean places we have been to. So if we are ever in the situation(«what do you want to eat?» «I don’t know babe, what do you want to eat?»), and we are up for the price, this is good place to go so we don’t inadvertently end up at like Chili’s or Ihop…

I like their food a lot and the owner is awesome because he came and asked us how everything was himself. Had to ask to get our water refilled though. The down part is that the last few times I went, the buffet was definitely not fresh and I could tell it was sitting out for hours.

Do I like Persian food or not? Yes, I do! I think it’s my third review this year that barely started! I don’t even eat Brazilian food that often! And I loove when is well made, like here at Kabobi! I went to a NYE party and the food was fantastic! Well, the food, the service, the restaurant… I went there many times before when it has another name, alone or with a group, but never after they renamed it. Even before that, the food was excellent(still is!), the new partner came in and I could tell he brought some fresh ideas to the place, modernizing the ambience. Which is really cool and vibrant now! Persian places are usually like Vietnamese: old fashion, like chairs from the 80’s. Not anymore! Bright walls and décor, very nice. The food is amaaaazing! I can tell you for sure it is one of the best in town! Everything and I mean every dish, is very well seasoned. From the dips to the kabobs and stews. Bread is very fresh, desserts are awesome… Because my laziness I didn’t memorize what was outstanding. maybe because I was little drunk already or probably because everything was remarkably excellent. I bet on the latter. On top, the staff is very attentive and nice, the owner is super cool. One of my favorite places to eat! They didn’t have gorhmet badenjan, my favorite stew, though…(sad face emoji here). Am I the only person who love this dish?

Ate here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. They have a buffet or menu you can order from. No a huge selection as I had expected but the chicken on the buffet is amazing. My only complaints were they seemed understaffed. It took about twenty minutes for drinks to be brought, the buffet took a long time for them to restock items and the ordering process was a bit odd.

Came here on a Sunday night and had the buffet($ 14.99 per person) with my Persian boyfriend and his cousin who know good Persian food. Atmosphere — 4 stars Restaurant was clean and the décor is modern. But it was very cold. Upon request, waitress adjusted the heat and provided complimentary hot tea. Food — 3 stars The buffet had a great variety. Salad section with several options such as salad shirazi, yogurt with cucumbers, and hummus was great. The classic Persian entrees were however not too impressive. The Ghorme Sabzi didn’t have much flavor and tasted somewhat bland. The Gheyme was relatively better but it still lacked the rich flavor that is a must with Persian stews. The chicken kabobs could’ve been marinated more and cooked a bit more. The koobide kabobs(ground beef kabob) was decent. The desserts fell flat. The Shir Berenji(rice pudding) was bland(and yes I put cinnamon on it) and worst of all the rice was not cooked enough. The Fereni was decent but the Shole Zard tasted kind of fake. Service — 5 stars The servers were very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty. Jourdan especially provided excellent service. Wanted to really like this place. Especially since the atmosphere was nice and the service was so great, and we saw the 4.5 stars on Unilocal. But food is most important to me and it fell flat… but maybe it was an off night?

I’ll be brief, because I don’t like to elaborate on buffets. Especially when it contain dishes that I’m not familiar with and unfortunately I didn’t make notes on the particular dishes. But know this — for a buffet, it is pretty good even though it doesn’t look large. I would say there’s about 12 entrée options, plenty of dips, and some desserts. But what stands out is that half of the food offered here is Persian and the other half is Afghan. And of the half that is Persian, half is super good. And of the half that is Afghan, half is super good. So basically, you’ll get a pretty good meal while sampling the cuisines of both countries. I’d say that counts as a «win-win.» I’ve never been to a buffet where I’ve liked more than half of the offerings. And likewise, I have not seen a buffet that has this unique mix of dishes as others, whether if it is Lebanese or Persian, since local buffets tend to give more ubiquitous offerings. The price is also reasonable, even for dinner, considering they also bring out fresh bread all the time. Would I come back? Maybe, if I can’t find any other good Afghan restaurant that is not a buffet since I’m averse to buffets in general.

While visiting members in this area today, I saw Kabobi and thought it looked nice as I drove past. While searching for dinner tonight, this place popped up as a suggestion and did NOT disappoint! It’s tough to find good and fresh Persian food in San Antonio, so of course I had to try just about every single thing on the buffet. They let me take a box, since I was so stuffed I couldn’t see straight. Lol. I have already recommended to my boss and a few others and I’m still sitting here, sipping my cardamom tea

Pretty good. I went here for the lunch buffet and was overall very pleased with the food. Especially for buffet food, everything was warm and fresh. There was a variety of veggies– sautéed, pickled, etc. and also a selection of meats with plenty of spice.(Not spicy spice, regular spice.) Also the location was spotless and our service was great. Also, try the hummus and pita! The only reason I’m giving fur stars instead of five was I wanted more variety in desserts. There was a bit of fruit and also a selection of gelatinous stuff. Three gelatinous desserts is two too many– I suggest adding in some cake or cookies.

For $ 12, Kabobi offers a fresh and flavorful buffet, reminiscent of the days when Afrah was good. My first impression of the restaurant was that of a modern and upper scale establishment. The staff were all very friendly and we were instantly seated as we came for an early dinner. The buffet to say the least did not disappoint. Lots of flavors and fresh tasting. As the night went on, there was even live music that set the mood so perfectly, we thought at first that it was music being played over the speakers. They have live music on Fridays and Saturdays I believe. We were always getting our water refills and plates cleared and filled ourselves up. While the buffet is comparably small, I think the quality makes up for the diversity. Most items were great, with some just being ok/good; either way, I would definitely come back. The eggplant was awesome and the tilapia had a good taste. At the very end of our meal, the manager/owner came around and talked with us trying to get feedback and telling us about their establishment. They have been around for a little while, but have recently revamped their look while keeping their food the same. It’s a shame I never discovered them sooner. Kabobi isn’t the best Mediterranean/Persian food I’ve ever had. Their gyro leaves a little to be desired and sometimes there was no food in the buffet trays. However, they are certainly a good contender for the best you’ll find in the area and could become my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. If I could, I’d give them an easy 4.5 for the excellent service, nice atmosphere and awesome food. I’ll definitely be coming back to develop my opinions on specific food items. Maybe they’ll be able to earn 5 stars.

I came here with a few girlfriends for lunch a few weeks ago. We were blown away by the delicious food and the variety. The best part was the fresh pita that was brought to the table. We went here for luncheon buffet, which during the week costs $ 10.99 until 4pm and $ 12.99 thereafter. The buffet is not enormous but sufficiently stocked with a number of salads and dips. In addition, there was half a dozen or so entrée-type dishes. My favorites were the hummus – really good – and the kabob chicken. It was incredibly moist and tender. The gyro meat was not dried out, which often happens with a buffet. The rice with raisins was also a hit. Not my favorites were the beef stew and beef in beans, both were bland. Fresh fruits and what was I guess pudding or something for dessert. There is an emphasis on Pakistani and Afghan. I could not try everything, but next time I will get the Afghan eggplant for sure. They bring warm, fresh pita to your table. I will definitely return. On weekends the buffet is $ 12.99 all day.

Either great minds think alike, or Kabobi reads these reviews! On my second visit today, there are some good changes. Each dish has a small label that states what the dish is called and its main ingredients as well as country of origin, and they have falafel! Most of the dishes I sampled on my initial visit were even better this time around, The creamy eggplant dish was even better, with the eggplant having a little more firm texture. Baba ganoush was not in evidence, either not in today’s rotation or maybe getting a makeover. The beef and lentil dish was outstanding, and there was a beef dish in a pomegranate sauce that was delicious, if a tad too sweet for my taste. The sambal(or «red chutni» as its called here), had the cilantro dialed back quite a bit, which caused it to lose some magic for me, but it was still spicy and tasty. I realize that cilantro isn’t for everyone, maybe that’s why they did it. Still, I enjoyed my experience here and will keep it in my rotation.

Food(4⁄5) Mediterranean lunch buffet was the only option when we strolled in at noon on a Sunday, and I had absolutely no problem with that because I was extremely hungry and the $ 12.99 price tag seemed reasonable(admittedly, I didn’t find out the price until after the fact). The buffet line is split into three sections: desserts /fruit on the left, hot entrees in the middle, and salad on the right. The entrée section may seem small, but don’t let the number of buffet trays fool you. There were 6 buffet warming trays in total, but almost all of them stored 2 different entrees in them for a total of nearly 12 different entrée selections. My favorites from the buffet line were the chicken kabobs and the beef skewers. The chicken was tender — it’s not as juicy as I would like it, but it’s much juicier than many of the other Mediterranean buffets I have visited. The beef skewers, however, were extremely juicy and tender. I simply couldn’t get enough of the two. After you arrive back to your table from your first foray to the buffet section, the waitress has already brought you a fresh basket of pita bread, which goes perfectly with the hummus they serve. The hummus is a bit runnier than I am used to, but it’s not so thin in consistency that it’s not scoop-able. The taste is what matters, and it was pretty darn good with the soft pita. Service(5⁄5) Very attentive wait staff, and the food was constantly refreshed for the buffet line. Our waitress was always diligently filling our water, taking away our finished plates, and bringing us new baskets of pita bread. This is about as good as it gets for buffet service. Atmosphere(4⁄5) Kabobi has a spacious interior, and it really utilizes the natural light from its windows very well. The entire place was filled with tables suited for 4 people, but it’s easy to move them together to seat larger parties. The interior décor is colored white and a light green. The entire space just feels very relaxing. Although I do think some of the walls are a little bare, that’s a minor observation — definitely not enough to detract from the eating experience as a whole. Bottom Line Solid food from this up and coming Mediterranean buffet joint. Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is calming. I will definitely be back if I am ever in the area.
