Food is not fresh, rice was old, bread was old… not too many options. Food isn’t great. The buffet is cheap but I wouldn’t come back.

I came here for the dinner buffet, although there aren’t a ton of options everything I had was quite appetizing and very well seasoned. It was after 8pm and everything was still very fresh and constantly refreshed. I wish I had a gem like this closer to home anytime I am out this way I will definitely stop by again.

This place was recommended by a friend for its kabob. I went in there with skeptisim and was amazed at the food. For a buffet, their preparations are good when they are hot. The kabobs are really soft and delicious. Their veggies are also good. I will be coming back again!!!

Went here for lunch today as the name intrigued me with a desire for kabobs. When i arrived I saw they had a buffet so went with that instead. Everything i tried was pretty good, even the falafel which i don’t typically enjoy was ok. My only complaint is the price for what you get. The buffet is rather small for the $ 12 and change cost. Honestly I can spend the same at 2 other different places close by, and they have a much larger selection to choose from. I wont be back for the buffet, but i am still interested in their kabobs, especially the Cornish hen kabob, and plan on returning to try that.

I like Mediterranean food and lately been on a ghormeh sabzi kick so trying some of the places that have it on their buffet; if you haven’t tried ghormeh sabzi I suggest you do so; type of herb stew cooked with dried lime to give it a unique flavor. I also like buffets when eating Mediterranean so I can get a variety of healthy food; been here a couple of times now for lunch. this time I had salad, tabbouleh, hummus, pita bread, ghormeh sabzi over rice(they had 3 kinds of rice), sautéed bademjan(eggplant), beef kabob(nicely seasoned, chicken kabob(thigh) and curry chicken. all for $ 9.99. can’t beat that for value. what a burger and fries cost that now? I am not Persian so not the authority on how authentic it is but the food all tasted good to me.

So, this place is a little hole-in-the-wall, but it’s a great find for the price. We had the buffet and ordered some falafel as well. The rice and veggies were good. The tzatziki was pretty tasty as well as their chicken. Service was friendly too, which is always a plus.

Ms. Jones was craving some Persian food and begged her husband to try this café they’ve driven past many times before – being the good man that he is, he lovingly agreed. As always we staked out a table in the most private corner possible(which is somewhat difficult in the place because it’s small), and headed to the buffet. Out of all the Mediterranean buffets Ms. Jones has been to, this one was the most authentically Persian. Let’s start off with the great: the Gormeh Sabzi was DELICIOUS! Ms. Jones wondered why most people in the buffet line passed up this heavenly stew of yum, but her recommendation to you is this – don’t be one of them. The chicken kebab was good. Not great, but good. The rice was was okay. The beef selections left Ms. Jones flat as they were overcooked, dry and mostly bland. Of course there was salad, fruit and vegetables available and while those items looked decent, Ms. Jones was here to get her fill on Persian cuisine, and that’s exactly what she did. Another thing she was thrilled to find(besides the delightful Gormeh Sabzi) was a big beautiful shaker of sumac at the table(one more tip for you Ms. Jones review lovers: shake liberally over your meal)(you’re welcome). While all in all it was a decent meal, it did not knock Ms. Jones socks off. Would she go here again? Yes. Is it first on her list? No. There are quite a few other Mediterranean buffets that seem to offer fresher, tastier fare for around the same price range. The atmosphere was lacking – small, basic restaurant furnishings, no booths – only tables and chairs and lots of loud chatter… not an ideal place for a romantic lunch. Also the parking lot gets quite crowded due to the fact there are quite a number of eateries in this moderately run down strip mall. Will you regret going here? Most likely not. Will you come back? Maybe if you haven’t found better yet out of all the many, many interesting eateries in Richardson. Will you find this review accurate? 100% yes.

The food is great and very reasonably priced. Not the nicest restaurant but great food and employees! Authentic. We eat here regularly.

$ 9.99 Persian/Iranian lunch buffet is well worth the price. There were no names on what looked like and tasted like home cooking. An unusual condiment was a house made mint chili yogurt that was piquant and refreshing; much like an Indian mint chutney. Supple pita with lemony tabouli and tender beef kebab were wonderful. A marinated chicken served in a cream sauce was very good. Three kinds of rice were available with tender garlic potatoes. Good hummus and tzaztiki. A bargain for lunch.

Not sure how this place got 4 stars, but never again. Not much of a selection and the taste was edible. No bread, most items on the line seemed old or flat out empty.

Love The food and service. Small place that put out pretty good food. The buffet is not bad. Very consistent and the price is reasonable, owners are very courteous and polite. And servers always take care of you. Try their kebabs. Been coming here for years.

The store need to be cleaned!!! Tables dishes and spoons need more attention! The food collection are not always the same, no consistency, so you don’t know what you expect!

This place is a hidden treasure. From the outside, and even when you walk in, it doesn’t look too appealing but boy oh boy does the food make up for it! There’s this chicken butter sauce that is out of this world! So amazing! I coupled it with the chicken rice and it was delicious. Both styles of chicken were juicy and tender and most importantly, not greasy! And then there was the lamb.(Insert heaven music here) so freaking amazing! A new favorite for us!

This is one of the best lunch buffets I’ve been to in a long time. You can’t beat $ 10 for all you can eat Mediterranean food. Mediterranean food comes in different forms, as there are many different countries that border the Mediterranean. The Shish Kabob Café focuses on more Persian and/or Greek styles. At least, that is what I think. I am not an expert. What I can say for certain is that there is a great selection of fantastic food. The tzatziki is phenomenal, it has bigger cucumber chunks in it than in other tzatziki I have tried before. The chicken was the winner for me: it was full-flavored and succulent. The surprise for me was how delicious the lamb was. I typically do not like lamb, but was feeling adventurous at the buffet and had a bite. It was worth it. The lamb is utterly savory. There was also a tasty selection of rice and veggies, and the hummus was delicious. Next time I want to pig-out Mediterranean style, this is where I’ll go.

Wasn’t expecting this. So delicious the kabob and the homemade yogurt drink. How did I miss this place? Yum. (Sure, the outside of this place is in a vanilla looking strip mall, so common, they blur and look the same at every turn.) And upon entering, I felt as if I may have journeyed into a former 1980’s /1990’s flourishing pizza parlor. Inside are vestiges of my suspicions with mirrors and trendy diagonal wood paneling with a raised platform dining area– then quickly juxtaposed with middle eastern home furnishing décor and sensibilities. The featured area was the walk up counter where you order your food.(Which still kind of looked like a pizza counter. But that’s just my uneducated opinion with my Rose colored Jersey pizzeria glasses.) The look felt comfy. The humble and small sized heated buffet island was located to the left of the ordering area /counter. Service was personal. The homemade yogurt drink, great. Your food is delivered to your table. 4 Stars for taste 4 Stars for the rose colored glasses So, if you’re in the mood for a super low key eatery and seek a bite to eat with a Mediterranean flavor, so stop in. Bring a friend, and enjoy the experience.

Not great! Not too many choices here considering it’s a buffet. The few choices they do have are not that good. Food is kind of bland and some of the dishes tasted stale. If you’re looking for a buffet, you’d be better off going to Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet which has a much better selection for almost same price just few minutes away. Plus, Dimassi’s has coffee and tea included in the buffet which this place doesn’t have. I guess it’s worth a try for one time but I doubt most people would go back a second time.

WOW, super wow! Seriously, my husband and I have frequented many of the nice expensive Mediterranean places in Dallas and this is by far my favorite. I am blown away by the quality of food for the price. Buffet for 10 $ really? Amazingly good food. Their beef kabobs was the best I’ve ever had with perfectly cooked sauteed onion and peppers, amazing chicken thigh, delicious collard greens, eggplant dish was exceptional, yummy hummus, a spicy tzatziki type sauce was superb, and yummy cinnamon dessert pudding as well! Also great lamb and pork! They had even more but those were the highlights I’d say. I am so glad to have found this hole in the wall type gem! I recommend you try this place right now!

Two stars is a little harsh here, but with so many better options within Richardson alone, I just can’t go any higher. It’s clearly a place that’s geared more towards value than flash, and there’s nothing wrong with that. But they need to provide a few more«standards» and less odd filler(kernel corn and steamed broccoli? Really?) on the buffet line. That’s not to say that there weren’t some good moments. The kebab chicken was primarily(or entirely) thighs, but that’s OK, they tasted pretty good. Kebab beef was a little tough but could still be cut with a fork, but it lacked in flavor. Fried fish was OK, not too dry or tough. Probably the best dish on this day was the eggplant; it had a good Mediterranean flavor and texture. The gyro meat was OK, but again, not outstanding. As for the negatives: The bread is not really pita, and not really naan — it’s kind of a mix between the two. It was hard to make a gyro with it. The tzaziki was runny and further stymied the gyro. Finally, when I asked about hot sauce, the(admittedly very helpful and prompt) server brought me a bottle of sriracha and a bottle of Tabasco. Hmmm. Ending on a high note, though, was the price. It’s under $ 10 after tax if you drink water, so the price is good. Maybe with some cauliflower, baba ganousche, falafel etc., the rating might be a little higher, but from the selections today, two stars it is.
