This is one of many sub shop reviews to come as my fiancée and I decided that Tuesdays during the summer would become sub sandwich Tuesdays. We are trying a different shop each week. Tonight, we went to Firehouse. My fiancée had been here before, but this was my first visit. I ordered the Grilled Chicken sandwich off of the under 500 calories menu and grabbed a bag of chips. Shortly after, sandwiches arrived. My fiancée’s sandwich was amazing. It was brisket something and probably a million calories. My sandwich was OK at best. The grilled chicken was very rubbery from the steaming. The barbeque sauce saved the sandwich, it was soooo good. Since his sandwich was so amazing, we will go back and I will have to try something else off the menu. I really wanted the meatball sub, but the calorie count was way too high for me right now… maybe one day.

Looking for something filling and not fried while on a business trip. This was my first time trying Firehouse Subs. I had the Hook & Ladder Light. It was a good size, served warm and the bread was very fresh. The restaurant seemed clean and tidy. I would definitely return.

Stopped in for dinner tonight, was in one of those moods wanting something different and new. I hadnt been to FS before. So. I went in to see what they offer. The menu is pretty much your normal hot subs, i chose the turkey bacon ranch sub on wheat… combos are about $ 8.50 for sandwich, chips, drink and a pickle. That is for the 8″, for the 12″ its like $ 11 for the combo. The guy behind the counter asked if this was my first time there, and when I said yes, he gave me the rundown on the place, his recommendation was the hook and ladder sandwich, which was turkey, ham, bacon and melted montery jack cheese. Sounded good but I tried the other one and went with my instincts… Good choice! The dining area is really cute, its designed literally like a fire station, there are real firemans gear hanging on hooks in the wall, and other firehouse paraphanelia. The drink machine is really cool and modern, you choose what you want on a touch screen and it dispenses it. I mixed 2 types and made some delicious concoction of lemonade and cherry limeade… This mix was really good. Try it! I would recommend their sandwiches, but they were a bit pricey to me… However, the sandwich was made perfectly and tasted really delicious.

Love the franchise. This one hit the mark. Brought out the food to us and the kids loved the soda machine with its ability to dispense 120 different flavored. I love clubs so had the FireHouse club. Very good and savory. Bacon could have been stronger, but plenty there. My wife nodded when I asked about the Italian. I guess that is glowing reviews from my spouse of 20 years. Kids(picky eaters) finished everything and would have made Severus Snape proud of their mixed elixirs.

These subs are VERY high in calories. Tasty, but most people won’t be able to eat one of these subs for lunch or dinner(even the smaller size) and stay within their caloric requirements for the day. I had a meatball sub, and while it tasted GREAT I looked up the calories online later, and it was 850 I believe. If there was a «small» sub size option I would have given them more stars, but since I got the smallest size available and it still had ¾ of the calories I should eat in a day, I wouldn’t recommend this spot for any besides the MOST active of people. The night I came the guy behind the counter was kind of new and was the only one back there. He was friendly and polite but it took about 10 minutes for me to get my sandwich because there were 2 other people in front of me. I didn’t mind, as after you order the sandwiches are brought to your table. They also have one of those new pop machines that has every imaginable flavor.

This was my first time eating at a Firehouse Subs, and although the sub was pretty tasty the service was horrible. I went there at 6:00pm on a weeknight and the place was empty. There were three guys working behind the line but somehow the two subs that I ordered ended up taking over 10 minutes to prepare. When I ordered the two subs to go(Turkey and Italian), I asked the guy taking my order what went on each sub — he proceeded to tell me as fast and as incomprehensible as possible what went on each sub. I think he was bored with his job and just wanted to be off his shift. After taking my order, I waited… and waited… and waited for the two subs to be done. I do not understand how this place makes it during lunchtime if in fact it gets busy in there, if it took close to 15 minutes for one order to be prepared. The sub itself that I had(turkey) was good but was disappointed with how little meat was on it, and my father said that he has had a much better Italian sub elsewhere. I will think twice before returning again, mostly due to the poor service.

The subs should be illegal. No sub should taste that good! I just have ti get one like once a month The Engineer because it might be the healthiest one.

I’ve been to this Firehouse 4 or 5 times in the past few months and it is really great. It’s not busy at all, and I think it’s because there are so many huge chain restaurants at White Oak, but this place is a little treasure. The guys that work there aren’t overly friendly, but they aren’t rude or nasty either. They just get the job done. The subs are really good too. I think they use a toaster oven and a steamer. You order, have a seat, and they take care of the rest. I really like the fact that they donate to local firefighters in the communities where their restaurants are. At first, I thought Firehouse Subs stood for hot, spicy, food and was reluctant to give it a try. How silly I felt when I went in there and figured out it’s named that because it was started by former firefighters! Oh, and they even give the little plastic firemen’s hats to the kids.
