My husband and I were visiting from out of town. We needed something nearby to grab a quick bite. Classics was our choice. It’s a outdated(in a good way) small shop decked out with vintage 80’s décor and a vast collection of autographed photos from tons of musicians! Classics offers a variety of subs sandwiches and sides at a reasonable price. You can add chips, fries or some sort of salad to any sub/sandwich. There are offerings for kids as well. If you love limeade, definitely try one of theirs! They have strawberry, cherry and their popular grape flavor as well as plain limeade. Staff is courteous and do a great job. Restaurant is clean for the most part since it is an old building. We ended up eating here three times during our week stay in Richmond. So needless to say we liked it!

Let’s just say I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat their sandwich. My colleague picked me up at the airport during lunch time, so we figured we would find a place nearby to grab lunch. The décor is cool with lots of celebrities’ pictures on their wall. Service was good as well. But their sandwiches are just a ok. They only have cheap meats… Got the Italian sub and was not impressed at all.

Great food but weekend hours suck! I mean closing at 4pm on Sat and 3pm on Sun? During football season?

One if the best sandwich spots in the area in my opinion. Pretty much flawless cold cut and deli sandwiches off the grill ie. Sailor, Reuben etc. fries and lime-ades complete things well, plus there’s goin to be someone you remember on the wall of photos. Nice people and fast service.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to make a trip here, but if you’re in the area and need a sandwich it would be okay. There is no table service, so you order at the counter. When I saw the line, I was excited because that must mean the food is off the charts good, right? Well, not exactly. Sandwiches are really light on the meat. The wrap I had was gummy. Frozen fries. There is a kitschy charm to the place: it is filled with nostalgic memorabilia, plays oldies and the woman behind the counter calls everyone, «Hon». If you are looking for nostalgia, this is your place. If you’re looking for great food, keep on driving.

Great cherry limeade only reasons for the two stars. Their«Philly Steak» absolutely SUCKS! Unchopped Steakem and I’m not sure if they even used a grill to heat it. If I lived in this area I’d open up shop across from them and make true authentic Philly cheesesteaks and subs. Major letdown Unilocalers!

Great sandwiches. This place is hidden; must follow GPS to find this place. Worth finding this place. The food here is awesome!

One of the best subs I’ve had in years. Little homey place with helpful staff and the limeade is to die for. Hubby had the Reuben and I had the meatball with onions and green peppers. He is a bit of a Reuben snob and said it was one of the best he had ever tasted. The meatball was on point, the bread crispy toasted and delicious. And the fries. Ahhhh heaven. Lightly salted and hot crispy yumminess. The décor is kitschy and neat celebrity autographed pics on the the wall and nostalgia everywhere. Lunchboxes and toys from the past grace the walls. Go. You won’t be disappointed

Great food. Quaint setup and friendly staff. One drawback is small portions for the price.

I can only echo what everyone else has said. This is a quintessential American eatery… had a basic meatball sub and it was great! Service is fast and friendly, prices are very reasonable. I’m not sure if it’s the way it’s supposed to be or not, but the lime aid does seem a bit heavy on the sugar to lime ratio, and I have a bit sweet tooth. It’s certainly not a detractor though. The place is spotless and decorated straight out of the 80s. This is officially my spot any time I’m in the area… Y’all gotta give it a shot!

We(partner, son, myself) used to eat here frequently perhaps 20 years ago and liked it a lot. Four days ago I got carryout… one of the dishes I ordered was a Caesar Salad. I got home and the«Caesar Salad» was made with iceberg lettuce! Sheesh! It was merely a tossed salad with Caesar dressing! A true Caesar Salad must be made with Romaine. And a bunch of other things. I suggest looking up the recipe in The Joy of Cooking. I also had a fresh squeezed limeade. Short on lime, long on sugar. Just adding another wedge of lime or two would do wonders for that. I also ordered a Philly Chicken sandwich, I believe it was called. Like a Philly Cheesesteak, but with Chicken. It was good, but unremarkable. I will give these guys another chance. If they mend their ways about the«Caesar Salad» I’ll try to remove that part of the review.

Good neighborhood place to grab a quick lunch. I tried the philly steak sub with a chipotle mayo and it gave it an extra kick to your average steak sub. Prices and service are great, as well!

Had a great warm sandwich today(not sure the name): turkey, roast beef, provolone, bacon with all the fixings. Placing the order and payment was a bit confusing, because we spoke with 3 people multiple times, but it also takes the corporate feel away and complements this ma and pa shop.

Actual Rating: 3.5 Stars I have a love/hate relationship with Classics. I love that it is low-key and serves warm sandwiches and french fries but hate the pricing and quantity of food that you get. The first time I went to Classics I had the 6 in. Italian sub w/small fries and my fiancé also had a 6 in. sub w/fries. The sandwiches were placed on individual trays on a paper placemat, no plates. Needless to say, I hope they wash and sanitize these trays. The food was good. Sandwich was warm, everything seemed to be of good quality but I left hungry(I do not require a lot of food to begin with). Leaving a sandwich shop hungry is not okay when two sandwiches and two handfuls of fries cost $ 20. The second and third times that we have went have been much of the same. The second time I went, I ordered a cheese steak and that is nothing more than a steak-um that I can fix at home. The limeades are good but any extra flavor is an extra 35 cents. The stinginess of this place is apparent with the whole put the sandwich on the paper placemat on the tray thing as well as how they charge for every little extra and limit the number of ketchup packets they give you. A bright spot is that the service is friendly. While I think that Classics is good, I just do not get the hype based on the other reviews. I will go back because I like warm sandwiches and I like the ability to order fries with my sandwiches.

This is what I want from a sub place. They have an expansive menu, are reasonably priced and I’ve never had to wait long for my food. Also, they probably have some of the best fries in the area. The only thing that is stopping me from giving Classics 5 stars is the fact I’ve frequently ordered a large fries and it seems no matter what I order they always give me the same size fry order.

Classics is a blast from the blast! The sandwiches and lime-aid were great as was the trip down memory lane. This place is completely preserved from the 80’s including the menu on the wall and I loved it. I had the Italian sub, which was fantastic, hubby had a Philly, kids had hot dogs. Service was very friendly and the place was spotless. There is loads of seating inside, you place your order at the counter.

The food at Classics is fantastic. It has the best roast beef sandwich that I’ve ever tasted and the limeade drinks are delicious as well. The inside is very clean and there is plenty of seating if you plan on dining in. They also have take-out if you wish to take your meal to go.
