I live only a few blocks from here but sometimes can’t go and pick it up if my daughter is napping. Delivery takes a while but food is decent for typical take out. It used to make me a little sick but they must have done something to make the food better. It’s a typical go-to since it’s so close but I’m never disappointed. The General tso’s tofu is pretty good. I’d give it 3.5 stars if I could, but lose points for super slow delivery.

Worst chinese food ever: I don’t see how they even GOT a restaurant! The sauces taste like salty water! NO flavor! Just BLAND! A KID could season better than that! Terrible.

I used to live in Richmond and have since moved to Chicago. One thing I miss, among many, is Fu Jian! Seriously, I didn’t know how good I had it. Fu Jian far surpasses any take out/delivery restaurant that I can find here in Chicago. I highly recommend their egg foo young. The gravy that comes with it cannot be beat!

Nope! Well worth the trouble to go elsewhere. Even driving a long way away is justified.

I’m new to the Fan so I’ve been trying to find a go-to Chinese delivery place. Well, it will definitely not be Fu Jian. If you like Peking/Yen Ching-style Chinese, this will not cut it for you. Got chicken fried rice and even the chicken was slightly slimy and fatty. Wonton egg drop soup also had a weird taste. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

This is my first time ordering food from here, and we love it! It’s hard to find a good Chinese takeout place, and this one was wonderful! Granted, this is the only place we have tried so far in the fan/vcu area. so I don’t have much to compare to. We got the sesame chicken and beef and broccoli. The sesame chicken was AMAZING! It was sweet, big pieces with good chicken. The beef and broccoli was also very tasty. The portions were huge, as most takeout Chinese is. I wouldn’t go sit and eat here, the atmosphere is not warm, but not many people eat in for Chinese food anyways. The staff was friendly, the food was very quick, and prices were very reasonable. After tip, for 2 dinners, we paid $ 21. Not bad!

I grew up eating probably more Fu Jian than doctors would recommend. I’ve always loved it as a hole in the wall, kinda questionable Chinese food place. If that’s what you’re looking for, it’s great, just know that that’s what it is and manage reasonable expectations. I think it definitely has improved over the past few years, but it’s far from a premier dining location.

Chinese takeout can be a touchy subject. Some people swear by one, others another. Fu Jian is nothing fancy food wise, but their service and portion size keep me coming back. Also, you can clearly see the back kitchen and they only use fresh ingredients. You can tell by the crunch of the veggies and the robust flavor of the meats and grains. I suggest the beef and broccoli, but in the words if LaVar Burton, «you don’t have to take my word for it!»

Standard American-Chinese food. Better than some other ones around the VCU area.

Horrendous food. What qualities about this restaurant anybody finds redeeming is beyond me. Ordered a range of appetizers and entrees, all Chinese takeout staples, and not a single one was remotely eatable. The most offensive was the fried rice, which was clearly defrosted frozen veggies with stale, flavorless rice. Shame on you Unilocalers for steering me so far wrong. The reason for the second star? The meal only put me out roughly $ 30 before tip.

Perhaps the best Chinese I have had in Richmond, but that is not saying much. I have not had decent Chinese in RIchmond until I found this place. Solid Lo-Mein.

I’ve eaten at Fu Jian Chinese Restaurant a couple of times. I tried the general tso chicken and beef & broccoli. Both Chinese dishes were average. The fried rice was solid. The prices are reasonable. The restaurant has some tables so customers can dine in. The restaurant is located at the corner of Main and Meadow St. There’s street parking in front of the restaurant. I give Fu Jian Chinese Restaurant a 2.5 rating.

In the mood for a great Chinese delivery service? Well Fu Jian delivered, seriously! We live right in Carytown and were looking for a delivery option that would cater to us. My daughter got to pick what was for dinner tonight and she picked Chinese. Large portion of egg drop soup, pork lo mein, spring rolls, and two orders of beef and broccoli! It was hot and greasy and a lot of it. As far as a Chinese place that delivers fast and efficient that is not overpriced, well Fu Jian won’t let you down.

Let me first say I totally understand the difference between fine dinning and takeout… That said, I could not eat this food. I ordered some general’s Tso’s for delivery, the first bite was chewy, really chewy, but I managed to swallow it whole. I was really hungry so I went in for more, and maybe I got a bad piece. I gagged, it was rough. I don’t gag much, I eat some questionable stuff. So I ate my spring roll and rice and called it a night. Not going to order there again and wouldn’t recommend it.

I was sort of shocked to see so many bad reviews for this place. It is by far my favorite place for Chinese in the greater Richmond area. Let’s just start off by saying that… it’s Chinese takeout. I’m pretty sure one requirement of being a Chinese takeout joint is greasy, semi-flavorful food, the same as any other place. Anyway, if that’s what you’re looking for, this is the spot. Their staff is friendly and the place is clean. I have watched my food being made several times, you have full view of the kitchen, and they do it right. On to the food. This place has the best crab rangoons I’ve ever had ANYWHERE. You can tell they are made from scratch *not frozen* and fried up fresh. We get them EVERYTIME we go here. I love their fried rice(shrimp) and all of their lo miens are tasty and keep for several days. My husband loves getting the beef and broccoli. The beef is tender and flavorful. I am a huge fan of the sweet and sour shrimp. BIG shrimp, battered and fried and served with that tasty sweet and sour sauce. Not a little tiny cup of it, enough for you to save some for the next time. I love Fu Jian. If you want decent Chinese, I promise you aren’t going to find better than this.

Pretty good. Not great but, pretty good. Walked on over with with my drummer last night to grab some grub before we rocked out. I ordered the fried jumbo shrimp with fried rice and an egg roll. Cost me about $ 8 and some change. It was about a 10 minute wait until our orders were up. Very friendly service however, the in-store menu is a bit confusing. Store could’ve been cleaner, though. The food itself is decent. The fried rice was yellow which I totally love. It looks so tasty and inviting! Fried shrimp was just that, fried shrimp. I wish it had more of a shrimp flavor than a fried flavor. All in all, a decent place for some cheap, city Chinese.

Fu Jian definitely has its place in the Richmond scene; every city needs a reliable, cheap, fast, mediocre Chinese delivery place. The food is hot, greasy, filling, and inexpensive. It’s edible, unlike some other Chinese delivery places. The only thing excellent about Fu Jian is their delivery time, which is shockingly fast. I get the food between 15 and 20 minutes after ordering.

Fast delivery but food is bland. Chicken wings are decent but everything else is average if not below average. I would recommend this place if you are dying of hunger. If not, scratch up a few extra bucks and go to P.F. Changs.

I love Fu Jian. When I lived in Carytown and when I lived off Forrest Hill they delivered to me. The service is very quick and friendly. This is the typical Chinese menu with typical Chinese food. Don’t expect anything fancy. Prices are great, service is quick, food is great for what it is, and sometimes they throw in extras depending on how much you order.

Fastest delivery service ever. I seriously hung up the phone, changed the channel and boom there was a knock on the door from a friendly Fu Jian delivery guy. It really could not have been more then 10 minutes. I was SO amazed by how fast the delivery was because I’m so used to pizza places taking an hour. Anyways thats where my amazement stopped because nothing I ordered tasted good. The wonton soup was terrible, the meat in it was bleehh. I had to actually stop eating it. Also got eggplant with garlic. The eggplant wasn’t cooked through. I might eat here again if I was really craving chinese and didn’t want to leave the house cause the delivery was so fast, but its kinda like eat at your own risk.
