I usually base reviews more heavily on food than service, but the service here gets negative stars and the food was mediocre. We were the only ones in the place at 5:30, but the waitress barely spent any time helping us figure out their horribly confusing menu. It was difficult getting her to describe the dishes and I felt as though I was simply an inconvenience to her. We ordered a pizza that was described as an appetizer along with two pasta dishes. After 30 minutes of waiting, we noticed that other parties had been seated and given their meals before we even got our appetizer. We asked and the waitress and manager both non-chalantly said that pizza takes longer and they could bring it out after our pasta. I told her it was listed as an appetizer but she just shrugged. We got our pizza after 45 minutes and it tasted okay. The pasta(which we had to ask for) was sub par, dry with little flavor. Needless to say, we will not be going back.

Very wonderful atmosphere with a very good vibe. The service was great. We went with another couple who were regulars so they assisted with the selections. Well, I am not sure if I mean selections or the fact that it is like large portion tapas. Order an appetizer or two and share, then a main entire or pasta, vegetable dishes can be ordered on the side making it a kind of tapas. I don’t think the cornish game hen was the best chili ice but it wasn’t bad. I think it deserves at least one more try with a different main dish. Then perhaps four stars. I definitely think it’s worth a try.

The service here was really disappointing and the food wasn’t good enough to make up for it.

I came here with two other friends. We had always seen it driving down main and decided to give it a try. We tried the lemon butter escargot and the sausage lentil soup to begin. The soup was a bowl portion not a cup as I had expected. Both were good but the soup was a little saltier than I preferred. We all tried different things the seared sea scallops, the chicken picatta, & the arugula salad. Everyone was very pleased with their meal just a lot of food to eat! We decided to end the meal with a slice of peanut butter pie to share. It was delicious with the mixture of dark chocolate crust. The food was reasonably priced for everything we got. Service was excellent as our waters stayed filled the entire time & were frequently checked on.

My boyfriend and I came here a few weeks ago for a pre-Christmas date, and we were not disappointed. We pass this place all the time, and we’ve heard really good things, so we decided to give it a whirl. We called that morning to make a reservation for that evening, and they were able to do it no problem. When we got there, we did have to wait a while until we could actually sit down. It’s a cute little place, and they had a few tables of people chatting after they paid their bills so there was nowhere for us to sit yet. No problem, we just bellied up to the bar to wait. The staff was also super apologetic about it. Eventually we sat down and I ordered the scallops and salmon, while my boyfriend got the shrimp scampi. He was a little hesitant to order it(Italian upbringing, he’s picky about pasta), but he was really glad he got it. And my dish was incredible. Also worth mentioning is the wine list, which is extensive. We ordered the cheapest stuff we could find, naturally, but it was really good! I’ve already started recommending it to friends, definitely try it out.

What an unexpected gem in the city! We have been there 3 times now and loved each experience. Walking by we didn’t realize what it was from the outside. A few months ago, we ventured inside and now it’s one of our top choice restaurants. Classic food. Great service.

My friends and I went here for resturant week and the food wasnt that good at all the garlic flavor over powered everything. And the waitress didnt know what beers they had and never asked me if I wanted another beer. I would go back and try there food on a regular menu. But I wont be in a hurry to go back.

I have a pretty severe dairy allergy where I stop breathing if I have it which I understand is difficult when I go out to eat at restaurants but most places will make accommodations for me. I called two weeks in advanced to let them know and my server tried to replace the dairy-based items on the menu with non-dairy alternatives but they charged me for every substitution without telling me until I got my bill. My one dairy-free entrée ended up costing about the same amount as two plates. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon.

Nice Italian resturant in the Fan District. Daily pasta specials with a wide variety of sauces and additions. I had the pasta carbonara and my wife had the ricotta, and both were excellent. The wine selection isn’t huge, especially for selections by the glass, but what they do offer nicely complements the entrees. We split the escargot appetizer, which was outstanding. Cozy décor and pleasant waitstaff rounded out an enjoyable evening.

Had a great dinner here while visiting during World Cycling Championships. Rack of lamb was outstanding. Finished off with side of polenta. Wife had chicken piccata which she liked very much. Small seating areas so call ahead on weekends.

This place is a little hidden gem! Cute, quaint, and a great place for date night or night to stuff your face with awesome food! Just a bit of forewarning, they don’t have a whole lot of room so if you want a group, you probably should call ahead or explore a bit of Richmond to melt some time. The manager greeted us kindly and invited us to sit down. When we informed him that we had a bigger party, he offered for us to wait or sit at the bar. We decided on the bar as everyone there seemed to be having a great time enjoying one another’s company! The bartender did a good job to serve us even though her primary job is a bar tender. They have a great beverage menu along with food menu! I went to town and ordered the salad with house vinaigrette and fettuccine with clams & mussels with white wine sauce. The dressing was awesome and their rolls alone were divine! The pasta was super delicious and I would come back again! I appreciated how their ingredients tasted fresh and I loved their variety of dishes! A must go!

Appetizers were very poor. Ordered a white bean, Rosemary, and garlic dip and it was extremely bland. We had to add a ton of pepper, salt, and garlic(which we asked for a side of) just to make it taste reasonable. Also, we ordered the shrimp and scallop scampi appetizer and it was good. However, the appetizer only came with three small shrimp and one scallop which I was disappointed with because it was expensive. The entrees did turn out well though.

First of all if I score a no star I would… The one star is for the food. Which out of my party, was decent, not the best or the worst thing I’ve ever had, but the service was pretty subpar and below mediocre. Not only were we seated at the bar but as for a first time here the service at the bar and table wasn’t much different. The waitress, Nancy was far better than the rest. But after not only the bar service for food was not helpful, nor asked if we needed assistance after I asked for help with some menu items she seemed less than helpful for asking which should have been an obvious we had never been her. During almost the entirety of the experience she seemed less than helpful and almost bothered by our request for information on a less than helpful menu. And worse with the other portion of our party who received less than pleasant experience from none other than the male manger whoms attitude changed once we sat with them. Overall not a place I will ever attend again. I see why several Togo orders came in and didn’t stay…

This restaurant is amazing! My boyfriend requests a date night here a couple of times a month. It is a very romantic setting, and the food is out of this world. The portions are huge, but make the best left overs! The also have a nice wine selection, which pairs nicely with anything on the menu! I love to finish dinner with one of their dessert martinis, which are fabulous! By far one of the best restaurants in the Richmond area!

Really good food, they are focused on fresh good food. My wife and I love to come here. The atmosphere is chill and relaxed and the food is so good. Get the calamari not deep fried, good and full of garlic.

Consistently good food. Been here on different evenings. For take out and eat in. A. ways enjoy the food. And usually have enough for leftovers. Although those disappear rather quickly. The spinach cream side dish with almonds. Seriously. Heavenly. Portobello mushroom appetizers. Way enough to share. Or have a main meal. We really like the Kobe beef meatballs over pasta, I can taste the beef. The service is always friendly, even when they are super busy. So. Here is the only bizarre thing. I swear. Swear. That I had profiteroles there on a Sunday last year. My dinner partner attests to my experience. The restaurant says they have never served them. Lol!!! Please consider adding them to the menu. Someone made them on a Sunday in July in 2014 and they were delicious!!!

Had dinner at Bacchus last night and it had been a few months since I had visited one of my Richmond favorites. The mussels were perfect in a white wine and garlic sauce. If you’re lucky enough to have the owner, Nancy Fisher, serve it’s an even better night out!

Bacchus is one of the restaurants we dine w/friends. The earliest we could get a table for 4 was 8PM which is fine w/me. I enjoy dining late. We split the antipasto(I recommend it, highly) Entrée: I had the spaghetti w/meat sauce and Kathie had the spaghetti w/olives. A lot of the spaghetti went home as the plates are large. We also had the Caesar salad… that was a a very big meal. Even after 9:30 most of the tables were still seated. Busy place, but quick courteous service.

This place was one of the spots in RVA that my boyfriend and I wanted to try out, hidden gem in the Fan area that most people overlook. It’s a cozy inviting atmosphere, definitely a cute romantic date spot. We enjoyed EVERYTHING. From the escargot, to the arugula salad, the soft shell crab and pasta. It was definitely a lot of food, but since we waited that long, why not go all out! We’re suckers for seafood and it definitely hit the spot. The staff was attentive and friendly, but not too hovering. It may be a bit pricey, but I think it was worth the experience. If I had the chance I would return!

Visited during restaurant week. Our party of 6 made a reservation and were seated immediately on this super busy night. We waited a long time for our first course, and quite some time in between courses, but the food was amazing. Our waitress and the hostess were also really nice and provided great service. I must have passed by this place a million times, but I never pictured it looking like it does. It’s so inviting and warm, and it’s really cute on the inside. Not stuffy or pretentious but it has an upscale vibe. The kitchen is a part of the dining room, but it isn’t obnoxious. I tried a lot of things being that we were in a large group, and every single dish was a hit. Rare. Some stand outs included the sauteed calamari with capers, perfectly cooked salmon, and pound cake with marinated berries. Delicious gourmet food with names I can pronounce. I’ll be back :)
