This is pretty sub par as far as restaurants go especially after all the hype. I ordered for pick up and was spoken to very rudely. Spent almost ten dollars for a combo box with beef teriyaki and got seven tiny pieces of meat in a sea of sauceless rice. They were out of sushi so I got four mediocre gyoza instead. I went inside and wasn’t greeted and was treated very rudely when I was finally addressed. I witnessed the hostess berating the chef as well when he was actually very nice to me. And their«yum yum» sauce is disgusting. Way too expensive for what they give you.

Really good hibachi! Deliciously prepared! Taste just like the food you get at a hibachi restaurant without the show from the cooks. The white sauce and ginger sauce are delicious! I wish they delivered!

My first meal from there was great. We went back for a second time only to be very disappointed. First off when I placed my order she repeated it back to me four times and it was correct. When I got there she was in the middle of ringing me up and answered the phone, started taking an order. I stood there for about five minutes. I found that very rude because she said nothing too me, One minute were talking in the next she is on the phone. Then a gentleman came up and helped me pay and I got my order. Once I finally got home which is about a 20 minute drive I opened my box only to find that my order was not correct on both meals. So I called, turns out she repeated it correctly however did not write it down correctly. I was offered what I was missing and I requested that I get new food made because by the time I were to come back everything will be cold and steak is not good when reheated because it cooks more. They said they would do it if I brought the food back and it was not touched. Upon my second arrival they were very busy and she told the guy that I was there and he said where? She responded with«the white girl in the back», Again rude. Once I was speaking to the guy again he informs me that it will be 20 minutes for them to cook me new food and that they hadn’t even started yet even though I requested it when I called before I left home 20 minutes ago. By this time I’m fed up and it’s late so I just took the items I was missing and left. Overall the service completely sucks. From now on I’ll be carrying myself 20 minutes in the opposite direction to get hibachi that taste good but also leaves you happy overall. After eating… Noodles were over cooked, my food was cold and on top of it all they even threw in some egg shells…

This place use to be really good when it first opened, but over time I feel like the quality and quantity jus went down hill. Food is still semi-decent but for the price, I don’t think I will being going as often as I use to.

Great customer service and excellent food! It compares to some of the finest higher-end Hibachi restaurants in Richmond. I love this place!

There was a fly in my clear soup. I called and spoke with the manager and he acted as though he didn’t even care. Never eating there again!!!

The Good: This is the same quality as any regular hibachi restaurant but, it’s casual counter service so you can order for take-away, or just shlepp over to a table and eat it right there. The food is always delicious and fresh. The head chef is a pro, and has worked in RVA for many years, his flavors are spot-on! The prices are on target. I’ve tried several of the dinner combo’s but my favorite is the chicken and steak, comes with rice and vegetables, salad and orange ginger dressing at around $ 11, this could easily feed 2 people, but I eat it over several hours. Don’t judge… The Not-so-Good: There are only 2 grills, and since all the food is made fresh to order, things can get backed up if a lot of people happen to get hungry at the same time. Remember, it takes the same amount of time to prepare an order as any regular hibachi restaurant, but it’s worth the wait. The table area is very basic, no frills. Similar to what you’d find in a mall food court. I don’t mind, I’m here for the food. Note: Ordering ahead is highly recommended, especially if you’re targeting a lunch or dinner hour.

Nom nom! Hibachi quality without the pomp, circumstance, and price tag! I can vouch for the chicken, shrimp, and steak hibachi express combos, and they are to die for. If they included a spring roll in these combos, I’d eat every meal here, every day. Delish!!!

This place is awesome if you want hibachi without the entertainment. It’s fast, fairly cheap and take out is very convenient. I recommend their filet hibachi, vegetable tempura and edamame. Their meals come with salad and soda. This place can get busy during dinner time and if we are in a hurry or very hungry we’ll call it in.

Cheap and fast — so yummy for something so inexpensive. Our favorite weeknight takeout. Enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. Chicken Hibachi is our favorite.

Booooo! So disappointed, after all the positive reviews we had high hopes, but alas, not to be… First, I’m not sure what fast is, but it was a solid 30 minutes from our order until we had our food. We had the shrimp hibachi & a steak hibachi — the shrimp were tiny & over cooked, as were the vegetables — most were way too soft. The steak was chewy — flavor was okay, but overall the meal was a huge disappointment.

This place is awesome. I’ve ordered here way too many times to count and every single time has been great. No complaints. Their prices are great too! If you’re looking for great food at low prices, Hibachi Express is your place.

This is my go to take out for nights that I have to work late. They serve reliably great food everytime. I always get the Hibachi Chicken meal– which comes with a salad, huge portion of fried rice, lots of chicken, and some veggies. For around $ 7 for a ton of food it is a great deal. The service is always excellent and the food is prepared quickly. Two thumbs up!

Best find of the year!!! A perfect combination of great food, great service, and great prices… there’s nothing bad to say about this place. My boyfriend and I found this place by accident. We were going to go to the Mediterranean Oven but it was closed to our dismay. We used Unilocal to find something close and this little place came up. We drove up to it and were a little underwhelmed. Anything with the word Express in the name that sells sushi can’t be good, right? WRONG! We walked in and ordered from the guy at the register — chicken hibachi, edemame, a tuna sushi roll, and a California sushi roll. We paid a mere $ 20.15. A few seconds later the gentlemen gave us both a salad. I was quite surprised with how fresh the lettuce was. It was crisp and tasty and a perfect size for a small salad. About 5 minutes later the edamame came out in a little container that the salads came in(definitely not classy but absolutely tasty). The bean was steamed perfectly and had some salt sprinkled over it for flavor. The beans weren’t too hard or too soft — they were just right. The chicken came out next. We were both surprised with the portion size. It was HUGE! For $ 8 you absolutely get your money’s worth. The chicken was seasoned to a wonderful taste and the veggies and rice on the side were amazing. The vegetables were cooked well, not too soft and still had a little crispness to them — everything tasted fresh and wonderful. Like I said before, this is definitely the surprise of the year for me so far. Would I recommend it? Yes!!! It’s not a fancy place or anything, but it has all the flavor of a regular hibachi grill at a quarter of the price. You really can’t beat that! :)

I ate Hibachi Express for lunch today. Hibachi Express is a solid restaurant .The hibachi is pretty good but nothing spectacular. Hibachi Express has really good lunch special prices. During lunch hours a chicken hibachi entrée is only $ 5.50.This is one of the best lunch hibachi deals in Richmond. The chicken hibachi entrée comes with rice, vegetables, and a side salad. The sushi at Hibachi Express is average at best. The sauces(yum yum) at Hibachi Express is thick and not watered down like some hibachi spots. The service is good. Your meal comes out at reasonable time. The atmosphere is laid back. The restaurant is small. Hibachi Express is located near Walmart on Forest Hill Ave. A good place to come for fast hibachi.
