Since our first visit, my wife and I have been back several times to S&S. We’re now considered«regulars.» We’ve always had great food and excellent service. I usually get the 8oz filet. It has always been consistently excellent. Extremely tender and full flavor. I read other reviews and it amazes me what people say. The number one complain from people seems to be the prices. So, let’s take a look. Their steaks are about $ 5 higher than your standard run of the mill chain restaurants. You know the kind. They put all kind of seasoning and/or butter on their steaks to give them flavor. Then you hope your steak tastes good or is at least somewhat tender. I’ve never been able to find a consistently good steak at the chains(Perry’s included). I finally found what I was looking for at S&S. At S&S they use a simple dry rub and no butter. The steaks at S&S are about $ 10 less than the steaks at Perry’s and come with one side. Perry’s coats their steaks in butter as well. If you like that, then I’m sure S&S will grant your wishes. The salads at S&S are about $ 7 and are big enough to split for two(just ask). The sides are good. Baked potatoes have real bacon in them. If you like spinach then you’ll enjoy S&S sauteed spinach. Green beans are cooked crisp. I know some people like their veggies overcooked and limp. If you want that, then just ask. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you want to save yourself a few bucks, then hang out at one of the chains and then hope you get a good steak. You could also pay a lot more money and go to Perry’s while fighting the traffic and crowds around Town Center. Another thing. How many times have you gone to the chain steakhouse and listen to live music? Most every Saturday night S&S has live music. Be sure to make reservations when they have the sax player. Very soothing. Finally. How many times have you gone to a restaurant and actually see the owner? Every time we go to S&S co-owner Susan is there. You’ll usually see her walking around checking on diners. Don’t get offended if she doesn’t check on you personally(as one person complained). She does random checks. There are times she doesn’t even check on us and we’re known regulars. In a day when people complain about the chain restaurants taking over the area, I’m surprised people still whine about paying a few bucks to support a smaller entrepreneur offering a very good product and service. I guess some people are never happy.

Our first time here. We were wanting a steak place somewhere between Outback and Perry’s. Found this place close to our house with good reviews. Ordered the side of homemade onion rings for our appetizer, took a little while for them to come out, but they were worth the wait. I had the 6oz petite fillet and my friend had the surf and turf kabob served on pilaf rice. Food came out in a timely manner, cooked just perfect. Steak was tender and juicy, kabob was a good size with great flavor. Will be back!!! Only thing I would change is having a salad to go with meal without having to pay extra.

Great place for a nice steak dinner! The staff was very nice & pleasant. At the end of our meal, the chef even came out to ask how the food was. My husband had the center cut filet, our son had the pecan crusted chicken, his wife had the pork chops & I had the New York strip. Everything was absolutely delicious! Even the asparagus was wonderful. We also had the Chicken Kisses appetizer — very tasty. And for dessert we had the chocolate brownie with chocolate mousse & toffee pieces — sorry don’t remember what they call it. We will definitely be back!

Was really wanting steak tonight for dinner and my husband suggested we try this local steakhouse– super glad he did. We had the best service and the food was very tasty. We had the surf and turf with lobster mac & cheese. We will be coming back.

Great food, service and atmosphere is what you have at this neighborhood restaurant. We took good friends and everyone ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection. My husband enjoyed the music as well. Gotta try

I went for dinner last night with 4 other ladies. The service was great! We started with martinis and olives stuffed with blue cheese. I love martinis and hate getting olives that are stale or taste old. Not the case at S&S. Olives and cheese were very fresh and delicious. For apps we ordered cheesy bacon bread(yum!!!) and chicken bites(double yum!!!) highly recommend both. We all got different entrees. Everybody enjoyed their own selection I ordered the special of the night salmon. The fish was cooked perfectly. We all took leftovers home. My salmon was delicious the next day! Live music — awesome! Service — great! I drink a LOT of water and hate having to point out an empty glass. Every time I reached for my water glass it was full and I never noticed when they filled it Our lively conversation was not interrupted with service. Totally love that. I hate going places where instead of enjoying each other you are constantly dealing with or answering questions for the waiter. How is everything every 5 minutes is annoying!!! Best part was NOTHAVINGTODRIVE into Houston, Katy or Sugarland for a nice dinner out with friends! I will definitely go back!!! I can’t wait for summer to enjoy drinks and live music on the patio. Don’t take my word for it. Go check it out for yourself!!! We all need to support local and locally owned businesses in our neighborhood. Especially when this good!

I very much enjoyed my first experience at S&S last night. The iceberg BLT was chilled to perfection and very tasty. My 8 oz. filet was very delicious, especially with those yummy grilled garlic halves(nice touch!) and a good value; although, my steak was just a tad underdone, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. One suggestion I would have is that the server ask each of your patrons to cut into each steak as they are served to ensure that each steak is prepared to your customer’s liking. The wine list is very good and not too pricey. Both Susan and Steve spent time with my guest and me, ensuring a successful meal and were very open to any suggestions to enhance their guests’ experience. This place will get better and better, and I’ll be returning again and again. Muy Bueno!

After seeing the low ratings here, I was apprehensive about visiting, but our friends really wanted to try this place. I am glad we did. The hostess was friendly and and we were seated right away. Our server was immediately available to take a drink order, and the drinks arrived quickly. We took our time reviewing the menu and chatting with friends. The server explained the specials and took our order. Salads arrived in a timely manner and were very good. I had a spinach salad that was very fresh and the dressing was delicious. Our friends had the wedge and said that it was also very good. When our main course arrived it was very warm and all steaks were cooked as we had asked. The filet was good. Not the same quality as I have had at the trendier steakhouses in Houston, but very good for the $ 28 price tag. My wife had the stuffed flounder and it looked amazing. She had never tried stuffed flounder before, but she said it was very good. My son had an «off the menu» steak tips and fries. The steak looked very good. He ate it so fast it must have been tasty. The fries were fresh cut and very good. For dessert we had the apple crumble cake. Cinnamon and brown sugar over white cake and sliced apples. It was not as good as I had expected, but still a nice treat. Overall we had a nice dinner and would not hesitate to come here again. Based on the previous reviews, I would say this place is getting its act together.

It’s a new establishment but worth a visit. I say this because 1) It’s a clean and neat little restaurant, 2) The staff was polite, welcoming, and attentive, and 3) I enjoyed the food. 1) The place. Located in the same corner as Lomonte’s. I thought the place was welcoming and tidy. It has a small patio where I actually enjoyed my dinner :) 2) Staff. As I mentioned, the staff was attentive and welcoming. I was immediately greeted and sat as soon as my outside table was prepared. Attended to by an awesome and friendly waiter immediately(Paul maybe?). So no, I didn’t wait«too long» for a drink. My waiter was friendly and helpful from order to close out. 3) Food. For an appetizer I had the very delicious«Chicken Kisses». Bacon wrapped and with some sort of filling mixed with a hint of Serrano peppers and then drizzled with a creamy cheese sauce. I can come here alone just for these delicious bites! For my main, I honestly came for the Texas Cheese Steak sandwich for my first visit as it had been previously recommended and was on my mind to have. «The Texas Cheese Steak». Obviously steak and cheese, with sautéed goodness of mushrooms and onions if I’m not mistaken. Promising. I say it that way because, by my personal taste, I didn’t care very much for the Provolone cheese. But I’m very much looking forward to coming back to try it with Cheddar or Pepper Jack! I also hear that an amazing Burger is made here! Made with cuts of ground steak. I drive and explore all over Houston to find the best of the best of things. So I’m definitely coming back here to try that burger and the other items on their menu. I added pictures of my dinner items for the public to peruse :) Give this place a try. Just remember… It is a Steak House. If it’s not for your wallet today, save for another time :)

Loved the neighborhood feel. Service was great. I had the Surf and Turf and my husband had the quail. Both were very good. I think our only complaint and why we won’t go more often is the price. We took our 2 year old daughter and while they were kid accommodating, I wouldn’t say kid friendly. But we will definitely be back for special occasions.

The service: excellent both in terms of being greeted, seated and attentively waited on. The food gets mixed reviews. My husband’s pork chop($ 14) was juicy and tender, if a bit small. The pineapple-habanero sauce was tasty with a mild kick. The garlic mashed potatoes were also good and not overloaded with garlic. My pecan crusted chicken($ 14) was just shy of being burned. The lemon cream sauce with which it was served was fairly tasteless and certainly didn’t taste anything like lemon. My side dish of grilled asparagus was well cooked and retained crispness without being raw and was well seasoned. Prior to the entrees we had an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms($ 7) which I would say were just average and we shared an iceberg wedge salad with croutons, bacon, and bleu cheese. It was $ 3 since we’d ordered entrees and was good. The waitress offered to have the salad split in the kitchen for us which I appreciated. The ice tea was cloudy, a bit strong and I had to request additional ice. Be advised that the steaks are pricey with the least expensive bring $ 24. There is the option of a bacon wrapped hamburger steak, a hamburger and two other sandwich offerings. We’ll probably give it another try, but our $ 43 and change bill was a bit high for a casual night out in a neighborhood restaurant.

Wanted to give this place a try since it was«local» let’s start from the beginning shall we? As we walked in we were greeted by the hostess. I was admiring the new place as I’ve been curious for months as to what this place would look like from the inside. Somewhat cute I guess you can say. We didn’t wait at all for a table. Were walked over to our table, and felt completely awkward lol. Different crowd here I suppose? Felt as if all eyes were on us. We saw one of the owners as she walked around and greeted everyone at every other table around us and never said a word to us. Not cool. Our waitress came and took our drink orders. Which were served with 2 pieces of ice. My husbands iced tea really wasn’t iced tea. More like hot tea lol Anyways my husband had some steak. And I had a chicken dish with pecans on it. Forgot the names sorry! He said his had good flavor. But was a serving sized for a child lol. He definitely left hungry. As for my entrée. It wasn’t all that. Over drenched in sauce and overloaded with pecans. Our children had chicken strips and French fries. Kinda hard to mess that up. Our bread we were served as we waited for our food were just your plain jane dinner rolls. My husband asked for a second round of rolls. Which came out cold. Not warm or room temp. But cold. They barely thawed out I guess from being in the freezer. I figured since we are paying top dollar for steaks and etc I thought everything would be made fresh and not frozen stuff. Which I am perfectly also ok with but they could’ve at least warmed up our bread lol just saying. We will not be coming back based on our first experience here. We would very much rather go pay $ 30+ for a steak at Perry’s or someplace else with a more reputable name and more Highly Trained wait staff.

Where to begin? First was the sticker shock, then having to wait too long for a drink. One side for a $ 30 steak? What does a side cost S&S? And then, my wife wanted a side salad in lieu of any of the normal choices and oh that’ll be $ 2 more. Then it came 10 minutes after the meal came when she wanted it to come with the meal. Then the wrong dressing came with it, we asked for correct dressing, it never did come. And who took our order? Not OUR waitress, but another one because she wasn’t coming back. More bread please? Oh yea, that never came either. I bet you can figure out we skipped dessert and that we will not be going back. That’s too bad because we were looking for a good place nearby to go. All I can say is if changes aren’t made soon, it’ll end up like the last business that occupied the same location last year.
