I’ve been curious about trying this place for a while now. Stopped by on the last day of school last year with my boys for lunch — walked in and promptly walked out — it was a sauna in there. No A/C. So gave it a try tonight with my son and that will be the last time. I didn’t order anything but he ordered the 1 item combo(burrito). The burrito was tiny and had unripe tomatoes, lots of sauce and chicken. It came with rice and beans but it was the size of a kid’s meal. The chips tastes like thin, crunchy pieces of cardboard and the salsa was bland. I paid over $ 10 for his kid’s sized meal and a drink. Way, way overpriced. If the food was good that would be one thing but the prices and food were terrible. And I had to stand in line for quite a while to pay — the waitress took our order at our table(we sat first before deciding what to eat) and then never brought us a bill. I was about to get up and order at the register as I saw other people doing but when she came and took our order at the table I was expecting a bill. We were there for quite a while so she had plenty of time to do that. Very disappointed about their food, prices and service.

Forgot about this place and decided to come back. Ordered takeout for lunch. nachos with carnitas. a small side order of beans and 3 taco truck tacos came to over $ 19!!! Plus most if not all of the carnita meat was fat. Def NOT coming back for those portion sizes and prices.

It’s a beautiful day outside so my wife and I decided to go on a walk in downtown Ripon. We stopped for quick bit to eat. Order Nachos with chicken and a couple tacos, it hit the spot. Everything is fresh, meat was tender and had just the right amount of seasoning. The Patio is perfect for summer time ! We will be back

I have to admit I am really burned out on Mexican food. I find it hard to understand a culture that has the soil and climate to grow anything in the world, yet rice(which was imported) and beans are the standard side dishes for 99% of their dishes. Having said that, this café is actually okay. The main reason for my review, however, is that I notice a number of seniors around the room and a few came in to order take out. The seniors attraction turned out to be Tuesday taco for $ 1.00. I notice some with one or maybe two tacos. They were also served chips and salsa. The tacos looked good, fair size, choice of meat lots of cheese. So where else can someone go, on a limited budget, and have a sit down meal for a couple of bucks?

I’m giving one star for nostalgic reasons, for the former staff when they first opened and the people were friendlier and food was better. Called in and a girl with no phone manners took our order, we had to go over it three times to get it right. It was a burrito w/just carne, rice, cheese. She recited every combination other than that back to me twice before getting it right on the third try. There are the only 3 ingredients. also ordered the chicken nacho fries, total came out to a whopping $ 18! For those two items. To add insult to injury, fries were the only good part, I have literally never in my life had worse tasting or dryer chicken than what they out on those nachos. They ought to seriously be ashamed of themselves. We normally go to Ripon Taqueria or the meat market by CVS, but I was trying to spread the love(and our wasted money) and give some business to someone else this time-lesson learned. If you have to stay in Ripon, LA Mexicana for a la carte items or Ripon Taqueria are the way to go, avoid Las Casuelas & now Ede’s. If you have time to head to Modesto, Does Compadres on McHenry is my absolute favorite. Delicious food and the best service I’ve ever gotten, plus the prices are incredibly reasonable :)

If you want to pay more and have a smaller portion of food compared to Ripon Taqueria then go ahead and waste your money. Plus the staff lacks people skills. Enjoy!

get the truck tacos. Other tacos are too big and almost impossible to eat. Food prices are expensive.

This is my favorite place to take my daughters on a Saturday afternoon on a bike ride for some outdoor eats. Highly recommended taco shop.

Go here over Las Casuelas. The staff who got fired there opened Ede’s up, and the food is much better than the crap you get at Las Casuelas now.

I couldn’t believe how expensive this place is. Came in to get 2 burritos one being a plain asada with no extras and a drink…23.00 $.There medium soda is rhe size of a small and they charge extra for grilled chicken and extra to hold off certain items in the burrito. Not to mention its terrible food. Ppl who dont know what good food is probably wont complain but foodie ppl will b quick to say what overly priced trash food this is

Worst Mexican food in town. Also I read a review about the place being full of cockroaches. Well I confirmed that too. Save your time and money a lot better Mexican food in town.

I’ve been here a couple of times. Everything has been pretty consistent. Service has always been slow. I’ve had their nachos and their fish tacos. Both were pretty bland and not exciting at all. I’ve had taco trucks with better food quite honestly. I love to support local businesses, but it’s difficult to eat here if the standards are not up to par.

REALLY good taco truck tacos and really good salsa!!! Great food from the gal who used to run La Casuelas, she bounced back and I support her little taco shop by my beer tab.:) They have a little patio area, too, if you want to sit outside. Support our little guys in town

Cockroaches !! Not just one, oh no ! I killed three with my foot while my Mom used the restroom. I was so shocked, I saw so many crawling. Walked outside and tossed the food. That was on 9⁄2. This place is should be closed and fumigated ASAP !!! No Stars

Our family loves Ede’s chips and salsa. $ 1 taco Tuesdays and Thursdays always lure us in. The chile rellenos are my favorite. The red sauce is pretty good too. Patio seating makes casual summer dining a real pleasure. It’s not fancy but it’s super clean and perfect for unwinding after a long day.

After reading the reviews I was excited to try this place. The service was great but that was the extent. We sat by the thermometer that reminded us it was 87 degrees inside, which was not a pleasant dining experience. Expect to be constantly waving the flys off your food. The food was flavorless. I ordered a torta which was mainly a bread sandwich. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp burrito which to his surprise only had shrimp and sauce in it. The good thing was the rice was good. I’m sure it’s a nice quick place for the locals to stop for a bite, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back.

Finally a spot to grab a quick bite in the Ripon area that’s not a fast food restaurant. If you like mexican/American style dishes I recommend Ede’s Taco Shop.
