Taqueria San Jose

This place makes some of the best burritos I’ve ever had! This has turned into our go to spot for a quick burrito fix.
We always order the super burritos with either Carne Asada, Lengua, or Carnitas– all three meats are delicious. Their salsa bar is on point as well, my favorite are the roasted jalapeños.

Co-​worker told me about this place — been by the shopping center many, many times but just hadn’t seen it. Did my normal taqueria review order — tacos, pastor and lengua. Went back and forth between four stars or five — but think based on the pastor taco alone they deserve a five today. Probably one of my favorite pastor tacos ever — meat, great flavor, tender throughout. The grilled the tortilla a bit more — gave a surprisingly good crunch and the chile was a bit hotter than most — just enough to get a good sweat going! Filled with meat too — was told two tacos should be enough (I normally order four) and they were right. And at just $ 2.00 per taco — well worth it!! The lengua was very good — not the best ever but better than most. Simple salsa bar — but grilled jalapeños are always a nice touch. Co workers had asada torta and combo fajitas — gave them thumbs up for both but maybe just four stars from them — still worth multiple return trips!

I consider myself a taco truck junkie and can’t believe there’s no taco truck in this area… so I tried this place. I wasn’t too impressed. The meat and the salsa was kind of bland… nothing to write home about.

Great food, same as the other taqueria san jose, clean and updated. Great prices !!!

It’s hit or miss with this place. one time they’re really good, and one time a red headed gringo could do better. I’m sick of chancing what day it will be.

My favorite taqueria in the valley. Best by far and I’ve eaten at every taqueria San Jose and the Coffee rd location is good but the riverbank location is 10x better

I like the wet burrito packed with flavor. Prices are decent. Chips and salsa can improve.

2 stars because their food is actually ok, I came in a little before 9 pm. Walked up to the counter as the cook threw something in disapproval of my presense. He continued to walk to the back. I noticed that they had already cleaned the kitchen. The girl there walked to the counter and reluctantly asked for my order. I asked ift hey were closed and was told i can order to go. I didn’t like this situation one bit so i left. I wouldnt want anythong nasty done to my food. Shame that there is no interest for better business here. Maybe thats why business is slow here.

Absolutely the best place to get burritos in riverbank! Hands down! The burritos are huge. My wife and I can get one, split it and be plenty full. The people behind the counter are always very nice. They have a real good salsa bar too. I really love this place!

My favorite Taqueria in Riverbank. They don’t use lard here! :D Their burritos are awesome! My family loves the menudo from here as well.

Not up to par with Taqueria San Jose on Coffee Rd in Modesto.
What is lacking?
Diners– Noone wants to be the only customer, it begins to feel odd real quick. Service is speedy but this doesn’t mean the food is better than local competitors. Other local Taquerias offer much more flavor, meat to bean/​rice ratio; and a properly wrapped burrito. Noone wants a hard edged burrito you can drive nails home with.
One and done at this location… There is really no reason to spend the same amount of $$$ with other local fares offering better food and options.
