The service and atmosphere were really good. The French fries were decent and so were the chicken tender appetizers. The lobster roll was really great and so were the fish tacos.

The mediocre reviews almost made me not want to pay this place a visit, but I’m so glad I did! GETTHELOBSTERROLL! Definitely comparable to Jordan Lobster Farms(the only thing is that it’s pricier, which is the reason for one star off). The fried soft shell crab sandwich was also really good. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area and want to have lunch outdoors with a wine of glass. Note: I also got their Martha Clara white blend for $ 6 a glass, which was perfect!!!

2 ½ stars really! Food is marginal, soup barely hot, lobster roll is at least 25% smaller than everywhere else and also only marginal in flavor. And oh yeah, the heaters on the covered porch area are useless so it’s freezing out there after sunset-don’t let them tell you otherwise, bring blankets if they stick you there!

Really great place but try to avoid the crowds. I like that they allow us in wearing barn clothes. Can’t say other customers like it but too bad!

Ok, so this is painful to write… I really wanted to enjoy today being that it is Mother’s Day. We’ve been coming here for the past few years. We had a party of 12 but three of us were running late. Reservation was 1 pm, but we weren’t seated until 1:15 the three late members showed up at 1:30. Before the 3 late members showed up, appetizers and drinks were pre-ordered. At some point the manager/owner?(Older blonde lady with glasses) decided to tell my family that they were going to take away our table and we absolutely had to be out by 3pm. My mother in law — keep in mind it is Mother’s Day, spent the rest of lunch freaking out that service wasn’t quick enough and we wouldn’t be out by 3pm. The three late members of our party arrived and they hadn’t even come by to take lunch orders yet. Fast forward, I took a puffer fish(one) and it was filled with bones — see pic. The lobster grilled cheese was disappointing — the cheese they paired it with overtook the flavor of the lobster. There were two bright spots to this otherwise disappointing 480 dollar lunch — the waiter Franklin was an absolute doll. Very well mannered throughout the chaos. Even if the manager couldn’t remember his name in order for me to compliment him. The other bright spot isn’t even their food — it’s that their margaritas are still quite good. Keep in mind that if you’re going to sit in the outdoor area, there is poison oak mixed in with the bushes. So watch your kids people! Dessert didn’t come out until 3:04 so I had to ask for my dessert to be boxed. Plus, after the lackluster treatment by the manager I lost my appetite. As we were walking out, the manager said loudly enough for my family to hear«are they finally gone?» This was after she made a point of fake apologizing to my mother in law. Rude, classless and not worth the money. Go somewhere else for seafood on Long Island. Save yourself some money and aggravation.

Plenty of seating and as good as the South Fork location. Plus, vineyards afterwards. Lovely!

Hit the spot for a 3PM late Sunday lunch. 3 stars means good here, not disappointing at all, and would return for the basic and good lunch here. Had enjoyed a hike, a beach stroll, and a couple of wine tastings. So heading back home from a great North Fork weekend and wanted seafood. Had the hot lobster roll and broiled flounder special. Adequate portions, not large at all. But what we expected and nice seafood and the veggies of the day were especially good with flounder. Did have a Unilocal deal for $ 2 off a drink with entrée. Honored quickly and no hassle. Young servers were pretty good and since this was a nice spring weekend, they already had a good crowd-/even between 3 – 4 pm. Clean house setting. They probably have been serving similar food for decades. And their formula works.

We were on our way to a concert and saw a restruant that wevthiught we would try. Just fir giggles we went in. They had a shrimp deal going on and all 3 of us got diffeent versions. The food was great. Their cole slaw tasted just right. The potato was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was delicious. Our waitress was very good. And the desert was whisky pie … I can die now.

The dishs are good and reasonable price, the problem is cleanliness of this place. Flies all over the place and they keep coming after our food. We have to keep waving our hands to keep them away. We asked to move to another table but we were told it is the same in the whole restaurant. Let’s hope we don’t get sick from the food in this place. You come here at your own risk.

Pretty great seafood. Stopped here for lunch, a bit pricey but everyone enjoyed. We got fish and chips, lobster, lobster rolls… Perfect place to go right before you hit the wineries !

The hot lobster roll with garlic butter and sweet fries with maple mayo(this is an add-on option, and I am telling you to order it, no question) is undoubtedly the best meal of my entire weekend trip and worth every penny. I also had the watermelon beer, which complemented the selection almost as much as a nice, dry white wine would have done. Next time, I think I’ll order the classic lobster salad roll, but that hot garlic butter is pretty hard to turn down! Pricey. Worth it.

I really hate to downgrade a grand old venue, but this restaurant has lost a step or two. We’ve eaten there numerous times, and one of my favorite dishes was a crispy shrimp ‘burger,’ which consisted of breaded, fried shrimps compressed into a patty and served on a bun; this doesn’t seem to be available now. When we had tried the famed puffers on a previous visit, they were expensive and unimpressive. On this more recent visit, his fish and chips were greasy, soggy, and flavorless, while my lobster roll was chewy and flavorless, unlike previous times. We were both gulping down the tartar sauce to get a hint of taste on the fish. And I think the fish and chips may have made me ill. While not outright dirty, the place looks shabby and a bit… sticky, perhaps. There is ample outdoor seating, where you can get a good view of the passing traffic, but this time, with impending rain, they were only seating people indoors, and it took a long time for a table for two to become available, and even then, only in the bar. They had live music that day, and the musician was packing up in advance of the rain as well. When we finished, it took even longer to catch someone’s attention and get our check. Prices seem high for a room with no view. In all, a less-than-pleasant experience.

4 star setting with 3 star food. The outside eating areas are absolutely wonderful — if only the kitchen was better. Doesn’t a grilled cheese and lobster sandwich sound great? It sure did to me. But when it came to the table the cheese hadn’t melted. Sent back it was returned to me the same way. «They can’t melt the cheese because it will overcook the lobster.» Really? You can’t open up a sandwich and insert the meat? Or, cook each side separately? The rest of the meal was ok. But for«Hampton’s» prices I expect more.

My friend who is from Long Island decided to take us here for lunch as he was saying that he really enjoys the place. He mentioned that there was another one that was closer to where we were before coming to the Northside but he said he’d rather us go to the original. So the place is simply called Lobster Roll Northside and Northside just denotes their location. I was given a bit of a geography lesson on this most recent trip being that I’m very familiar with the USA but not so much with LI so it was a learning trip as well. This area is known as north fork and the area where Montauk is located is «south fork». River head which is basically the town where the north and south fork meet is the main town in the east part of Long Island… thus the Northside name. The name sake if this place is just that. It’s called Lobster Roll? Guess what I’m going to order? No it won’t be the steak… do they have that item? When going to the Cod Mother in San Francisco did you order only the deep fried Snickers bar? Pat’s King of Steaks in Philadelphia means you order a cheesesteak right? We asked for seating outside which was available in a nice open setting. The weather was perfect that day and the seating was comfortable. I saw the menu but I knew I would want a lobster roll please and thank you. The thing is I couldn’t decide on hot or cold so guess what we’re ordering both thanks. My friend and his wife did the same and we ordered one with fries to share and an order of onion rings too. So each of us had half and shared the other half with our spouses giving us both hot and cold in one meal. The hot lobster roll is served in a side dish and with it we had sides of drawn butter. A small toasted piece of bread came with it as well as cole slaw. The cold was already scooped into the bun, mixed with mayo, dressed with relish and other things to keep the consistency. The lobster meat was very good. It consisted of clean visible pieces large enough to distinguish and it was as expected. The food was good and the service was good as well. My wife had room for desert so she ordered a slice of peach pie. My friend said it was from a place not far from the restaurant and he knew it would be good. This is the type of place you want to have lunch when you’re on vacation. It’s a good thing my friend knew about this place…

One of my favorite places on the North Fork. I really get confused when I see people bash this place in their reviews. Perhaps it’s because when I come here I only order the Lobster Roll(It’s the name of the place, folks. Stick with the guarantee!) We came here on a Saturday afternoon with some friends. We were seated immediately outside on the deck. The tables were shaded with umbrellas and the weather was perfect. The friendly server came immediately. We ordered 4 lobster rolls, two hot, two cold, fries and onion rings. Keep it simple and you won’t be disappointed. The hot rolls were great as usual, flavorful and a perfect sized portion. In the past they brought us drawn butter, but my wife had to ask for it this time. The cold rolls were fresh and had abundant amounts of lobster on them. The fries and onion rings were perfect. My friend’s wife also ordered a slice of peach pie. They get their pie from Briermere just down the road, so you know you can’t go wrong! I’m the type of person who drinks a lot of water during my meals, but the server did not refill my water until we were almost ready to leave. Small blip on an otherwise great meal at the Lobster Roll.

Great location within 30 minutes of pretty much every vineyard on Long Island! The lobster pot pie was out of this world and the clam chowder was the best! I love this place

I was glad this place had outdoor seatings because we had our dog with us. There was a live band playing while we waited for our food, which was pretty cool. Awesome atmosphere. Must order: New England Clam Chowder Hot lobster roll(lots of meat that the waiter asked if we wanted another bun since he saw that my husband and I were sharing) In addition, we also ordered the Mussels in wine sauce. It was actually my least favorite. It was lacking in flavor. No seasoning. Tasted so much better after I added salt and pepper to the sauce.

I think their New England clam chowder may be the best I’ve ever had. It was so good! And why you have no reason to trust me, I assure you I am an expert when it comes to clam chowder. It was creamy and filled with yummy stuff. I got a hot lobster roll and it was so good. There were easily three nice size claws and a bunch of other meat. It was nice and filling. It was a little expensive for me, but there was so much meat so I guess it was worth it. Yummy.
