Food is actually good. You get a lot for what you pay for. Service isn’t bad either. The place is typically really busy so be prepared to wait. I sat at the bar though so I was taken care of pretty fast. I will have to mention that there is one server that is very sweaty though. It’s pretty unappealing when he has sweat dripping from his forehead. Kind of took my appetite. Overall the experience was great and I would recommend. Great priced drinks too !

I went to Cheddar’s Casual Café on a Saturday night with my family. The restaurant was really busy. We had a two hour wait for a large party of people. A mall(Valley View Mall) is close to the restaurant so you can blow some time. HOLDSUP, WAIT A MINUTE! The honey butter croissants are DELICIOUS!!! I bet you can’t eat just one. I always order at least 3 for just myself! Ok, back to my regular scheduled review. I ordered a ½ rack of ribs & ½ shrimp meal with mac & cheese and fries. The ribs and shrimp were tasty. Customers can get their shrimp grilled or fried. I thought my mac & cheese was average at best. The fries were hot and fried to a nice crisp. Our server was attentive for a busy restaurant. Cheddar’s has a lively atmosphere on weekends. There’s plenty of parking for customers. I give this Cheddar’s Casual Café a 3.5 rating.

Friends brought us here for our birthdays, they swear by it. They said is was a great place. I agreed! Great staff, great service and absolutely great food for a chain.

Slow rude service from the beginning. We asked for a table since there were six if us and they took us to a booth. When we objected we were taken back out to wait even with 10 open tables. Finally at a take there seemed to be no waitress. Took 25 minutes for drinks. 57 minutes late the apps, salads, and entrees came together with no room for all the food and no one taking away empty dishes it was a disaster. One of the salads had hair in it, food was cold, cheese fries were so cold the cheese didn’t even melt, the server was rude and acted like she didn’t care if she got a top or not. A manager came out with a winter glove on one hand ?? Didn’t know who our waitress was or what was going on. All in all would not return to this location.

Loads of food for the price. Good to great service. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Love the fish tank and the paddle fans. The whitefish was delicious. Perfectly seasoned, flakey, and juicy. Most places you still need a dash of salt or some pepper, but not here. Also I had a TMJ issue that day and they had no trouble switching out salad for mashed potatoes on my sides. We also orders a burger with fries. I didn’t have any of the burger, but the fries were perfect. Fresh, crispy, and perfectly mushy inside. We’ve eaten here several times and will return many more. Is it the best cuisine ever? No. But tasty food and friendly service makes up for it being a cheap, chain restaurant.

Went on a Friday night. Sat at the bar instead of waiting for a table. Was served immediately. Drinks: painkiller and my friend had the passion punch. I thoroughly enjoy Cheddar’s pain killers. The passion punch had a strong grapefruit taste. Entrees: country chicken fried chicken with Mashed potatoes and the broccoli cheddar casserole everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. Personal preference is chicken gravy over white gravy but the food was still great. My friend had the soup and salad. The salad appeared really fresh and the baked potato soup was perfect for a cold, rainy night. Only complaint: gentleman came in alone and ordered a surf and turf dish about 10 min after our order, yet received it before we received our food. We didn’t wait a substantial amount of time to begin with, so I never made mention to staff

Overall this was a good experience. The menu was fairly priced and the portions were great. We each got margaritas for $ 5 and they were pretty good sizes. This is mainly American Classic foods. Everyone at the table enjoyed their food and the wait wasn’t terrible. The only downside was our server. The waitress was not very helpful and the food took quiet a while to come out. If the service was better it would definitely help the experience.

The upscale décor sets up a level of expectation this restaurant does not deliver. The portions are reasonable for the price. The décor is nice and the restaurant clean. Some staff are enthusiastic, others not so much. The menu is packed with high calorie high fat entrees with a mediocre taste at best. It may be home cooked, but nowhere close to Mom’s good home cooking. I’d put the food on par with buffet or cafeteria food in terms of quality and temperature. I’d give this a 2 ½ stars.

Cheddar’s, what has happened to you? Cheddar’s used to be my jam when I went visited Roanoke because the food was yummy and huge portions; however, Cheddar’s has apparently drastically changed the way they do things. Instead of having a vast menu with a lot of comfort food options, they have now downsized their menu and gotten rid of a lot of favorites. I asked the waitress what happened to the chicken and waffles and was informed that Cheddar’s was now a «scratch café,» meaning they made things from scratch. Well, I’m glad that they can tell themselves that but I know the french fries I was served were frozen and that the Texas toast that accompanied my fiancée’s meal was not made from scratch. Anyways, the food is now no better than an Applebee’s. In fact, an Applebee’s may have more variety. I ended up ordering just chicken tenders and fries because I was so disappointed in the changes. My meal also came with mac and cheese, which was cold. My fiancée, who also loved Cheddar’s, was greatly disappointed. It’s sad that Cheddar’s had to change so much, good things never do last too long.

I wouldn’t say this place is the worst ever but it isn’t somewhere that I would choose to go. As a vegetarian there aren’t many options on the menu. However, that is the case at many chain restaurants and I can usually make it work by just ordering a bunch of sides. That wasn’t the case for either of my trips to Cheddar’s. Everything I ordered was super bland. The salad consisted of not much more than lettuce. I would not suggest going here for anyone who is vegetarian. My husband who isn’t vegetarian felt the same way about his food, no flavor, bland, bland, bland.

Food and service was very good. Fish tacos were nice. A bit of heat in the sauce on the tacos but not overwhelming. corn and cole slaw on the taco was good. Getting the onion rings is a must.

Definitely go here if you don’t like good food. We couldn’t really say the food tasted bad because it practically had no taste at all. The mac n cream, whoops I mean mac n cheese, was so watery I could eat it with a straw, an item I would have enjoyed using to consume my ice water which the waitress failed to bring until we were halfway done with our meals. Both my boyfriend and I got the side of steamed broccoli which turned out to be one part raw, one part limp green mushy stuff but was actually the highlight of the meal due to the garlic flavor and heavy handed salting. We thought about getting a dessert but figured we could save the chefs the effort of plating it and just go straight to the store ourselves. One star for being open and another for interesting/confusing décor that provided speculative table conversation.

Our family stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 2:00 pm for lunch. We were seated right away. I was really impressed with the décor — very clean and modern. The menu is large with lots of choices — something for everyone. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time… it was good, but not great. The portions were huge. Overall nice experience, but nothing that would cause me to hurry back.

I drove over an hour to eat here. Both the service and food was very disappointing. They got our order wrong. The top sirloins looked like cube steak .I really think they ran out of top sirloins and gave us the meat they use for the chicken fried steak. Left ordered sides off. One baked potato had a black spot and was over cooked. The Ceasar salad had little to no dressing on it, may as well have just given us a bowl of lettuce. I sat for over 15 with an empty glass. And when the check came, after waiting for it for 20 minutes, there was an appetizer added to my bill that wasn’t ordered. I hope for everyone else’s sake, we just went on a bad night. If not this place will not be in business long. On a positive note we sat at the bar while waiting for our table. The drinks are big and not watered down and the bar staff was speedy and friendly.

I’ve been here a few times and the wait time is always ridiculously long. The food is cheap, but not worth the wait to grab dinner. I think I came here once and the wait time for a table was 2 hours. Not worth it! But if you come for lunch on certain days or just to go to the bar, the wait time is really not that bad. The service is kind of slow. Not really a surprise though considering how busy they are all the time. The food is good, overall. My favorite dish here is the grilled tilapia with the mango salsa. It comes with rice and your choice of 2 sides.(mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli for me) Very, very good! The chicken and waffles are delicious and they give you a HUGE portion. My husband and I both ordered chicken and waffles for lunch once and neither one of us finished our plates. We should have just shared! The belgium waffle is super thick and is about the size of the plate that it’s served on and it is sprinkled with powdered sugar. It comes with(I don’t remember how many) but a lot of chicken fingers which are enormous. I’ve never gotten a burger from here before but my husband has and he said it was just OK. The spinach dip is really good and the chips and queso is good, as well. They do have the best strawberry lemonade though!!!

I eat here every time I visit Roanoke with family. Food is exceptional and the service is always superb! I ordered the Chicken fried chicken dinner and when it was delivered to the table I couldn’t believe my eyes! The portions were humongous! I am a big guy and I love to eat but for the first time in my adult life I asked for a to go box! The food was hot, delicious, and to die for! Love love love Cheddars! Ignore the whiners and do yourself a favor and eat here!

Ordered: Steak and Ribs, House Salad, Fudge Cake Sundae Food: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Came here on the recommendation of a friend and I have to say, first of all the price is very reasonable. A meal of steak and ribs with two sides only costs around 15 dollars. The steak was your typical top sirloin, and ribs were relatively decent as well. The fudge cake sundae was definitely made to share as the slice was almost as large as my head! The whipped cream and vanilla ice cream only served to further hasten our sugar high. If you do feel like trying it, make sure you are there with at least two or three other people to help you with it! What really stood out to me on this visit was the service, with our waitress keeping a very good eye on our drinks and bringing fresh ones over right as we finished one. Admittedly she did mishear my girlfriend’s order but offered to replace it at no cost. When we indicated we were okay with the order, they offered dessert as an apology. Aside form that mishap however, service was excellent with a fine eye towards detail.

When visiting some family recently, they brought us here for a casual lunch one day. They had all been here before, but I was the Ohio girl who hadn’t even heard of Cheddar’s before. I was surely missing out. For being a chain establishment, this place was bomb! Probably one of my favorites to be totally honest. We shared most of our entrees, and all of it was tasty delicious! I think Cheddar’s has FABULOUS salads, and their queso appetizer is also really really good. I could probably eat a bowl of it as my meal.
