I purchased a Take Out Groupon that entitled you to $ 20 in take out. The Groupon was valid until April 24th. I called and ordered take out totaling about $ 25 tonight, April 1st. I wait the 30 minutes and go to pick up and found a polite server to retrieve my order. I clicked redeem on the Groupon on my phone, which states that there are no returns after viewing the bar code to redeem. She took my phone to the manager, Charlie, who spent the next 5 minutes at the bar talking to her about it. She returns and states that the manager refused to take the Groupon. I told her that I would like to speak with him and he approaches after a minute. Charlie proceeds to tell me that he changed his mind and no longer wants to deal with Groupon because they are hard to deal with. I explained that I had already paid money for the Groupon and redeemed while standing there to pick up my order. He tried to say that the Groupon was only for dine in and not take out. The title of the offer is «Take Out: $ 20 Groupon.» He then says that Groupon made a mistake and that there should have never been a take out option. When I purchased the Groupon there were multiple options for both take out and dine in. I tried to reason with Charlie and let him know that I wasn’t going to take the food and would never eat at their restaurant again if he wasn’t interested in making it right and he smiled and said«Sure, OK.» I responded that I am a retail store manager and any manager knows that this is not how you treat a customer. He once again smiled and said«You talk to Groupon about a refund.» I responded, «You’re going to send me home without food, throw it away, and forgo any future business with me as a customer, and refuse to honor an offer that you provided because you changed your mind and don’t want to deal with Groupon anymore?» He simply smiled again and said«Yea.» I said, «Well what about all the other people out there that purchased these and come in until April 24th to redeem them?» He jokingly responded, «There aren’t that many more out there so that’s fine.» I left disgusted without food that I could have easily paid for but I will not support a business that treats a customer like garbage and laughs about their loss because they changed their mind about an offer they promoted. I wish I could say the manager Charlie was pulling an April fools joke.

I’ll admit… I’m bias. Lol having worked as staff for Mysticon held there a few years now, coming back in two weeks!!, I love these guys. They are a joy to work with, the atmosphere is amazing, food is above amazing… I have yet to have a single meal there or through room service that I didn’t scarf down like I was starving it was so good.

Stayed at the hotel on a date night with my wife. Mainly went there to catch the dinner theater which was a lot of fun! But then thought we might enjoy the bar and dance a bit afterwards. The bar staff was very good, but the patrons seemed quite thuggish. Bunch of rough looking characters gawking at the few women in the bar. Definitely felt low class and potentially confrontational. Bottom line is go catch the dinner theater and enjoy the nice hotel accommodations, but skip the bar and avoid the thugs.

Friendly service, decent food for standard american fare. I consider it a step above chain restaurants(Shoneys). We ordered Cream of Crab Soup, «Alice» house fried chips topped with cheese & chopped bacon, Organic Spinach & apple salad with balsamic vinaigrette, Kids meal pizza, served with fruit & a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for dessert. There were no complaints at our table over the food. At 9pm on Saturday they start to turn the other half of the restaurant into a DJ and small dance floor. I will post pictures of our meal.

Me and a few buddies had dinner here on Friday night. Let me say first off that the decision to dine here was based on the Unilocal reviews. I suspect that they are fake. The food was badly presented, small portioned, and in my opinion not fit for human consumption. I had a simple dish. Chicken in vodka sauce with spaghetti. What I got was chicken in tomato sauce. The chicken was rubbery and inedible. The spaghetti was over cooked to the point of being mush like. And the sauce was not vodka sauce as advertised. I also got food poisoning, which is why I’m writing this review at 6:00 in the morning when I should be sleeping. Instead I am sick. I sent it back. I posted a picture here of the source of my gastric discomfort. Maybe after having s few drinks at the bar, the food doesn’t seem bad, but seriously… I’m really sick.

I don’t get the positive reviews. It’s decent as far as a hotel restaurant is concerned, but that’s it. The décor is a bit sad; it could use some updates beyond the light ropes around the space. I took my son b/c we were staying in the hotel. He got the kids Mac n cheese, which was huge and really soupy. Even though the kids meal comes with milk, a vegetable, and a scoop of ice cream, I had to remind my server to bring them. I ordered the cheese sticks, which were really good, and the Caesar salad, which was watery and dripping in dressing. I’ve had their food at some of the festivals and it was always good(bacon empanadas anyone?) so I had high hopes for this place. But I won’t be back.

So my review will be short and sweet. It will be short because I never went and ate here. I never went because I could never get a call back. See, our daughter was graduating college. We were coming from Texas and other family from Kentucky. I called a month in advance and tried to make reservations. I picked this place because of their menu. I imagined the food would be great. The initial phone call took me almost 18 minutes(on hold) waiting for a supervisor. Eventually said supervisor got on the phone and took down my reservation. But I was told that a manager would have to approve it and I would be called back. About 3 weeks away from the date I called back and was basically told the same thing again, that a manager would contact me. We are now in the month of August and I’m still waiting on a manager’s call. We were fortunate enough to find another venue that could handle our reservation. These people are apparently not on the same page, or already have enough money they weren’t concerned about us spending our’s in their establishment.

Surprisingly good restaurant tucked inside The Holiday Inn. My fiancée and I went for a nice dinner since we were staying in the hotel. We had the vegetable spring roll appetizer with sweet chili sauce. They were delicious! Not fried to death but still had a nice crunch. I had the crab cake entrée. It was good but very large! Definitely could share. It also came with a side salad that was very fresh. My fiancée had the Reuben and he said it was really good. Cleaned his plate. We shared the dessert of the day which was a coconut cream pie. Not your typical coconut cream pie. It was warm, kind of like a cross between a pecan and coconut pie. Caramel sauce was drizzled on it as well. We loved the beer selection and that they try to buy local when they can. Solid place!

PROS: –Very delicious food –They have an extensive menu-which is great –good selection of local beers on tap –bartender/waitress was very friendly and on top of things –lots of seating –dance floor for later hours when the DJ arrives –there’s an outside entrance and an entrance connected from the hotel CONS: — a little confusing on where to go from inside the hotel-not labeled well –also a little confusing on where to sit once your inside the bar/restaurant. No hostess at the time we were there. Reason for the 4 out of 5 stars: Entrees were about $ 3 over what we would have liked to have paid, but overall value was there.

I was staying at the hotel and came here on two different nights. Both times I sat at the bar. The first time, I only stayed for two drinks but the bartender was very nice. The second time, I stayed a while until they turned it into a club and got annoying. There was a different bartender this night, but she was fantastic. Very attentive and fast. I found it strange that I was approached separately by two townies at two different times during the second night. Friendly? Sure, but mainly super annoying and creepy. Why are townies regulars at a hotel bar?

I’ve stayed at this Holiday Inn twice and ordered from Elephant Walk both times. They seem to have a lot of great things on the menu, and both things I’ve had were delicious! I love their seasoned fries! The service is really friendly too. Would love to come back and dine in the ACTUAL restaurant. I definitely recommend this place if you’re in town, especially if you’re staying in the hotel and don’t feel like leaving the room. They’ll bring it right to you!

Dinner I ordered the pepper crusted beef. It was quite tasty. Came with a side of broccoli, mashed potatoes and salad. I also got a bottle of wine since I was going to be here a couple nights. The prices by the bottle aren’t terrible. Breakfast buffet Not a huge selection for 8.95. Biscuits and gravy. Hash browns. Eggs. Bacon or sausage. Waffles. Two kinds of cereal. Coffee. Water. No juice. Juice is 3 or 4 dollars more if you want it. A little disappointed in this.

The food here is very good. It’s not super-fancy or anything — it is «hotel dining» after all. However, they buy local. It’s so important to support businesses that make an effort to support the local farmer. I had the Mediterranean Seafood Flat Bread and it was yummy. I realize the irony that I ordered seafood from a restaurant in Roanoke that I support for buying local. :) My tomatoes and onions definitely tasted like they were grown in Southwest, VA!
