I went there last night with my wife. We was seated very quickly and drink order was placed. We ordered dinner and it was a short time before it arrived. I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie. It would have been great if I wanted hamburger soup with mashed potatoes and cheese on top. I have been to other Irish pubs where the dish was great. As we left last night my wife stated that we can cross this place off of our list of places to eat in Roanoke. The service was great and we left a good tip for our server.

I’d like to give an update on the changes going on at Annie Moore’s tavern. I went for a birthday dinner the other night and ordered the shepherds pie again, just out of curiosity. It was delicious and perfect again just like before. I don’t know if my last dish was just a weird mix or if they changed the recipe back, regardless it was great again. I’m still iffy on the other changes but this is a move in the right direction for sure.

We came here because I got a recommendation on the ribs. They were good, but not the best in Roanoke. The fries were delicious, and my wife who ordered the Shepard’s Pie really enjoyed my fries. The Shepard’s Pie was good and I liked it, but I also think I could make it at home about as well. The cocktails were only $ 6, which is the best I’ve seen in Roanoke. Unfortunately with the location, it’s not an ideal spot to come get drinks.

I have eaten here since the place opened. I ate here last night for the 4th time since the ownership has changed. The food has been very mediocre since the change. I keep thinking time will allow for a positive adjustment, but unfortunately not yet. They need to go back to the original Fish and Chips, Shepherds Pie, and definitely change the French fries back. Service was still solid though!

My rating is based on my most recent experience with the Fish and Chips. After enjoying this dish at Annie Moore for the past eight years or so, I’ve been very disappointed with my past two orders and have to wonder the reason for the decline. On both disappointing occasions, the fish and chips were unreasonably laden with grease and were lacking crispiness. The fries used to be of the steak fry variety and are now more standard baton fry. My preference was the steak fry but even better would be some variety of hand cut, skin-on, coin-shaped fry but that’s more of a wish and doesn’t impact my rating. The fish was flaky and white thus, it had an appealing appearance, however, the flavor and texture was overwhelmed by soggy grease. The customer service has apparently dropped off, too, as the evening of the most recent experience I completed the customer form on the website but have not been given the courtesy of reply. Doubtful I’ll return.

The owner commented on my last review and indicated they would review the corned beef. Last night we went with some friends and wanted to see if the corned beef had improved. This time it was outstanding excellent taste, thinly sliced. Definitely will order it again.

Went on Halloween evening about 5:45. Greeted and sat right away. Only one other party of two on our side of the restaurant. Place was dimly lit. Service was quick. Food was ok. Had the turkey Reuben. I thought Reuben’s were made with saurkraut. Not this one. They used shredded cabbage that is used to make cole slaw. My daughter enjoyed her grilled chicken club and hubby said his corned beef Reuben was ok. Upon leaving, my husband popped his head into the bar area and saw that they were having a musician as entertainment for the evening. Don’t know what time or who they would be playing for since we left at 6:45 and only one other party of 4 was seated since we had been there. Not sure if I would return on my next travels to Roanoke.

I’m visiting in the area. I found this thru Unilocal. The food is very good and the staff is friendly and knowledgable. From what I understand it’s new owners. I don’t know about before they owned it. It is definitely work trying. I think you’ll enjoy. I did

We ate her the first time in July and LOVEDIT. The new ownership has ruined a very nice eclectic change of pace bar and eatery. «The new owners wanted to americanize…» is pretty lame. «American» style restaurants, while some very good, are all over the place. Finding an Irish style pub is a rare thing in the states.

We live in a neighborhood nearby and use to frequent Annie Moores as it was what we missed from NY, a comfortable neighborhood bar. The new owners which I believe also own Reminis need to step back and think about what they are doing. Went there last night and they have gone from the best hamburger in town to average. They have changed the atmosphere and the menu and not for the better. Don’t change what was successful, ease into it and make it your own. Listen to your customers or you won’t be in business for very long. By the way no one cares if it the name is a tavern or a pub.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place! It has a lovely atmosphere that makes you think you may have stepped into a D&D campaign. Fireplaces, large pew booths, and stained glass windows make you feel cozy and at home. They have a great beer selection, and the food was fantastic! Husband had the potato soup and i had the fish and chips! Definitely coming back

Last night was our first time dining at Annie’s. We found it on Unilocal and decided to try it. The food was great and the beer selection was also excellent. I had the Guinness BBQ short ribs which we some of the best I have ever had. My husband tried the Bangers which were also very good. Service was fast and friendly. Our waitress made excellent suggestions for local brews in our case Parkway Get Bent IPA. Overall a really great experience! Would definitely go back and would recommend.

Tonight was our first time dining here, nice décor, friendly waitress, we both ordered the fish n chips and yes they were delicious, a little over priced for what they serve you, but still we will definitely be back.

This place is so incredible. Bangers. Incredible beer. Shepard’s Pie. Fish n Chips. Incredible beer! Went here on a biz trip and came back as many times as we could. Quite honestly, the best thing I came across in Roanoke by far.

I love a dark, hole-in-the-wall Irish Pub and I’ve been to many. This is not that kind of pub. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, just a different experience. To me, when you look at the outside, it just screams chain restaurant. In fact, this is the only location and it’s been around about six years. Six years is a long time in the restaurant world so that should tell you something. The inside is clean and bright with lots of beautiful wood décor. Not your typical dark pub. I was in on a Monday night and there was excellent live Irish music. The overall atmosphere was great. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and competent. Customer service throughout my visit was just fine. I ordered a small GUINNESSBEEFSTEW as a soup/appetizer. For my entrée I chose CHICKEN&SPICYSAUSAGEPASTA. Both were a solid 3 stars. The temperatures, quantity and quality were fine. Regarding adult libations; the beer list is decent and there is a substantial list of Irish whiskey. Even the wine choices are not bad and there are a few specialty drinks. This feels to me like a place that would satisfy a diverse crown of folks. I’d happily visit again. If I could I would go with 3.5 stars.

Love this place! $ 3 drafts and live Irish folk music Monday evenings. They also have a great relatively inexpensive sirloin on their menu. Had it a few times now and good quality each time. I like crumbled blue cheese on top of mine ;-). Also have a great now homemade cheese slaw if you like swiss cheese to nibble on for an appetizer served chilled. Their onion ring appetizer as well as their pub nachos are also really good. My favorite salad there is the Wexford steak salad. Some of their other items have fallen a little shy of expectations at times, but overall their traditional bar food is up to snuff.

Do you like Shepard’s Pie? Yes? Then you MIGHT like this place. Everything else is a huge mess from what I can tell. Atmosphere is nice, but not worth it. The music is too loud and highly obnoxious.

My parents live in Roanoke and love Annie Moore’s, so we always head here for dinner when I visit. Annie Moore’s gets three stars because when they get a plate right, it’s done well – but try to mix it up by ordering something new and you’ll probably wish for your old mainstay. Things they do well include the wings, fish and chips, and other traditional bar food. I also really like that they offer Guinness(of course) and a few variations: black & tan, snakebite(Guinness & cider), blacksmith(Guinness over Smithwick’s) and others. Some misses include food items that try to reach outside the ‘bar food’ realm: shrimp and grits, milk-braised pork, etc – these sound good, but they forget to mention things like the pork is absolutely coated with cumin, an ingredient not even listed in the menu description. Service is always kind and cordial, which I find to be a common(but still much appreciated) trait of the area. They have live music most nights, amp’d just a bit too loud for the size of the restaurant.

Annie Moore’s is where it’s at. It has the laid back feel that an Irish Pub should have with a dash of sophistication. I love that about this place. I remember going the first week it was open. Me and a couple buddies sat down and didn’t know which beer we wanted. We were able to sample a shot of each beer. They all were good. The food is amazing. The wings are top notch and The Dubliner Hamburger is one of my favorites. All the apps are on point and the deep fried milkyway bar is the nice end to a meal. The staff has always been great. I’ve never had to wait for anything and have always had a great experience there. Part of the charm about this place is that it can wear many hats. It can be a great date place because of it’s calming atmosphere or a place to hang out with your friends and have a few beers and wings. The live music that frequents the Pub also gives it the feel it needs. I’m a huge fan of this place and miss it very much.
