Long wait, as a huge party arrived at the same time. Good breakfast though. Bacon is thick cut — really awesome. Plenty of coffee refills. Denver omelette was good, but not unique. There aren’t many choices in this town.

Went for breakfast. Great service and very friendly. Chicken fried steak and their sausage links were both very good. Gravy not real thick, runny. Cinnamon rolls worth getting. Overall worth going for breakfast

This place was charming, in a grumpy sort of way. Food was fine and the service was… well, grumpy! But you can’t blame them, they warned you with their name!

They try to do a good job.. but the food is less than desirable. We had a party of 7 and each person was disappointed with their food. Burgers, soup, omelette, french toast, fish and chips and captains platter.

Love the name. Fits my attitude when I’m hungry and can’t find a place today. My boyfriend and I were seated at a coffee shop/restaurant for over a half an hour just a block away and we finally got up and left because they did not know how to run that place. She gave all the tables menu but never came back to take orders… time for an escape plan. We got up and saw the closest breakfast spot that was open was Grumpy’s and off we went. They were slammed but we could smell the good food cooking and people were getting their breakfasts and were eating. Great sign that we would get some breakfast too. Biscuits and gravy were my favorite. Just the perfect amount of saltiness in the biscuit and the gravy wasn’t too heavy. We got our food in a timely manner considering how busy they were… we were pretty grumpy and hungry when we got there but left feeling good!

We came here for breakfast on a slow day. The inside of the place is small but comfortable. Some really tasty-looking, gigantic cinnamon rolls peeped out at me from behind a glass case, but I managed to resist them. I was on vacation, so I ordered the chicken-fried steak, because calories don’t count when you’re on vacation. Everyone knows this.(Crap, I SHOULD have had a cinnamon roll!) The scrambled eggs were just alright, they definitely tasted like they had been scorched on a HOTHOT grill and unseasoned, but no biggie. The chicken-fried steak itself was great. I think as a product of cooking things on the center of the sun, some of the grease comes out of an otherwise greasy spoon menu. The result was a crispy-fried on the outside, tender on the inside steak nestled in a puddle of pretty good gravy. Hasbrowns were solid as well. All in all, I would call Grumpy’s a safe place to get a quick, decent breakfast in a pretty sleepy town during the off-season. Pass the ketchup!

A definite 5-star restaurant! Prices are great for the gigantic portions you’ll receive. Beware of the pancakes. They are FREAKINGHUGE. Bigger than your face. Order just one, trust me. Unless you haven’t eaten in a year or weigh 400 pounds. The biscuits and gravy are some of the best I’ve had, highly recommend an order of those. Eggs and hashbrowns are cooked to perfection, but the bacon was a little over-done for me. Most folks like crispy bacon, so I won’t complain too much on that, especially because it was still delicious and they use nice, big thick slices of bacon, not the shrimpy, pathetic greasy strings we get in Texas. The décor is fun and beachy with painted walls and kites hanging from the ceiling. The service wasn’t too grumpy at all, and the natives visiting the restaurant seemed quite happy to be there. Could be the amazing food, or the absolute crap weather on the Oregon Coast that day. We stayed at Tradewinds Motel on Rockaway Beach, which was wonderful and right across the street from Grumpy’s Café. Win-win!

Eating in beach towns can be expensive, but not at Grumpy’s. They’re cheaper than my local breakfast diner. We go here whenever we visit Rockaway. It’s the #1 breakfast option for price & quality. It’s within walking distance of most places out-of-towners stay. They have huge pancakes, the best sausage links ever, berry syrup, thick & crispy bacon, AND they bake homemade desserts throughout the day. Pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls, apple dumplings & other forbidden deliciousness. Right outside of the restaurant is a small pond with benches. Stuff yourself and then go relax by the pond before you head to the beach.

Horrible Horribe service! We waited 20 minutes before I had to ASK the busser to get the ONE ridiculously slow waitress to take our order. But then she immediately helped the people next to us. Are you freaking kidding me! I had to ask twice for a freaking glass of milk! The food is mediocre at best and not worth the wait.
