I’ll give you the verdict now: Origin will become your new favorite coffee shop to hang out, grab a good cup of coffee, study, or even have meetings here. The reasons/experience: –I ordered a Vanilla Latte and it was delicious! It’s not that they use a great syrup for the vanilla, it’s that they use a yummy espresso that is brewed well and blended well. –The atmosphere is welcoming, open and airy, energizing, and large. I feel like I have privacy studying and at the same time, could totally strike up a conversation and enjoy hanging out with friends here. There’s plenty of space and the large windows provide a lot of natural light that just makes you feel alive and happy. They have a spacious outdoor patio with a cute pallet wall garden that literally looks like something on my Pinterest gardening inspiration board. –The baristas are all volunteers. Why is that important? Because this coffee house gives their proceeds to two organizations that work to end human trafficking. They are supporting organizations that work directly with people who have been trafficked and have been rescued. Which brings me to my next point… — the price is on par with Starbucks and other major chains, yet you’re impacting the lives of women and girls who have been used and abused as objects. I would expect prices to be much higher, but with their current model of business and the countless volunteers, they’re able to keep costs VERY reasonable and do fantastic work within the community. Again, this place will be your new favorite coffee house. Not just because the coffee is actually good, the ambience is on point, there’s room for everyone, but also because their profits go to end human trafficking. So, see you around here some time ;)

Get coffee and help a cause, how can you beat that?! This is an awesome place, plenty of room to come in and hook up to Wifi. Coffee is great(better and cheaper than Starbucks) Volunteer based so everyone wants to be there and is happy, kind and patient. MUSTTRY!

I love their dirty chai, probably the best chai I’ve had ever! $ 5 I’ve been there on occasion when a bunch of 16 year olds are working there and they can’t even answer your questions about the coffee you’re ordering.

What a great spot to chill out, drink some coffee and be served by friendly staff members. Was in the area and a friend recommended I stop by. I’m glad I did as the coffee was delicious and the coffee shop was a great spot to catch up on some email while enjoying my cup of coffee. Appreciate the cool vibe and great staff.

How can you complain about a place like this? The coffee here is pretty damn good. Just the black coffee. But the other beverages are great as well. The place HS a great internet speed and also it is great they have a lot of seating. Going to Starbucks, there isn’t a whole lot of space to work or meet with people. The service is always nice, too. The one gripe I have is that it is $ 2 for coffee and the. $ 1 for refills. I’m not opposed to paying, but a 12 cup and need to pay for refill? I get it– it is for a good cause. But also money is money. If I’m going to spend a couple of hours here, maybe just hook a guy up!

Coffee — The best i’ve ever had. Plain and simple. I don’t know where they source their beans, but they are incredible. I thought Old Soul in Sacto was the end all be all, but I was wrong. Atmosphere — Super chill. I love it here. Sometimes when I don’t feel like working in the office I will work here all day long. There are always many professionals, students, intellectuals conversing and such which keeps me engaged too. I’ve never had any issues with it being distressingly loud or busy. I essentially wrote my entire masters thesis here, so that should provide a good indicator that a person is totally able to get things done. The music they play is great blend of modern alternative rock/folk/etc. They’ve got their playlist game on lock. Inside seating offers up ample options; couches, standard café style chairs and tables, lounge style chairs that just envelope you and a nice ‘bar style’ table that is up against the window and has a row of power strips to plug in the laptop, watch the world go by and get stuff done. They recently upped the ante outside and now offer plenty of space with comfy patio style furniture so a person can hang outside in the shade and enjoy the drink and weather. Staff — The fact that they’re all volunteers is a huge plus. They are super nice and make great coffee, which is the icing on the cake considering that they are offering up their time. Bottom line: Starbucks be damned. If you’re in the area, there’s absolutely no reason to go anywhere else.

While I admire Origins for their humanitarian cause, their dirty Chai was not impressive and expensive to boot. I got an iced dirty chai with almond milk which was warm and tasteless. My stomach is churning as I write this review. They have a great amount of seating and plenty of comfy chairs and sofas. I personally will not go back and cannot recommend them, but maybe you’ll have better luck.

They take pride in the coffee sourcing. Seriously one of the best small business coffee shops in the area. I would recommend to anyone trying to get out from under the quad pump syrup mocha routine.

Good coffee for a great cause! Chai latte with almond milk is my go to here. I think it actually tastes better because you know your money is going to a good cause. Cute atmosphere as well, lots of tables, armchairs, and couch. Good for studying or catching up with a friend.

What a cute little coffee shop! This place stands for so many great things, and truly lives up to all of its expectations. The coffee and food is really great, and the staff members are really nice. I enjoy spending time in here chatting with friends, or trying to get work done. Either way, Im happy to be in a peaceful environment that uses money for a positive cause.

Origin: help a worthy cause and get good coffee! Not the best coffee… It’s not as good as Temple but it’s way better than Starbucks! I got a latte($ 3.50) and Cav got a pour over($ 3.50). The latte was a little on the milky side but I enjoyed the espresso. Cav’s pour over had hints of strong flavors but it was lacking an overall«oomph» and had a watery aftertaste. Maybe they have options for other blends in their pour overs. As someone said before, they get their coffee from Mast. They also had a list of specialty drinks including hot chocolate, chai lattes, lemonade, and kombucha. You can get almond or soy milk too! I do love their ample seating and relaxed ambiance! The seating occupancy sign on the wall states a capacity of 87, and they also have outdoor seating. The arrangements are varied in such a way that the shop is good for group hangouts, study sessions, chats with your bestie, or by-yourself moments. They have a counter along one wall that has outlet strips all across it. Along the opposite side of the shop, there are recessed walls that have couches and tables and chairs nestled into them. There’s some coffee art on the walls, but most of the décor is kept to a minimum. The place is run by volunteers, and the ones who served Cav and I on Friday morning around 11:00 am were very nice. The place was also popping! Lots of people seated everywhere but a very short line. They made the coffee relatively quickly too. When you walk in, there are shelves with various goods for sale, such as water bottles and accessories. So even if you’re not a coffee or tea lover, you can still support Origin! I’d come again if I was in the area, knowing I was supporting a good cause and getting decent coffee too.

It would be impossible not to support the mission of this place which is to stop human trafficking. I thought the coffee was decent and I felt 2 bucks for 16 oz was just as fair as what Starbucks charges. I work close by so I will be a regular.

I love coming here for coffee and tea. The coffee is usually strong the way I like it. Their brewed coffee, latte, mocha and Hibiscus Tea are great! They have super friendly staff. And the ambiance is nice. There’s couches and chairs of different kinds. Chairs are not that comfortable and most of them are old and need replacement. But it’s a fun place to hang out with friends. Plus they have free wifi too. It’s definitely way better than most coffee shops. This is a non-profit so it’s run by volunteers. I’ve been here many times and I haven’t been disappointed with their service.

As a coffee lover, I decided check this place out because of the 4.5 star average Unilocal rating. As I read the reviews, I learned that this coffee shop is a non-profit whose mission it is to stop sex trafficking. Noble cause, but will the coffee deliver as well? Origin is located in a strip mall in suburban Rocklin. This area could easily accommodate a gourmet coffee shop given how much money is in this area. Unfortunately, Origin is not a gourmet coffee shop. Instead, it’s a non-profit with a good idea which needs to find a way to provide better training to their volunteer baristas and get some better roasted beans. The female volunteer who helped me was extremely friendly, but was not a trained barista. Their standard mocha is $ 4.25 and comes with one shot of espresso in a 16oz glass. Yikes! I had to specify to make my mocha with two shots in a 12oz glass(standard at many other places). It looks like they currently get their beans from a company called Mast, which I wasn’t impressed with. I wonder if they could set up a partnership with Temple, Old Soul, Chocolate Fish, or Insight to get some better beans at this place and to provide some barista training to the volunteers. Not sure how the above coffee houses would feel about that partnership though. I don’t regret checking it out, but I think there is much room for improvement. Best of luck to them in their mission.

Let me start off by saying this is a great cause this place supports and admirable to see that all the workers are volunteers. They did a great job to making this place feel like a very open, modern, hip and positive place for people to hangout and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea. With that said, I’m going to focus my judging mostly on it’s coffee & service alone. I’d have to say you are going here at your own risk. I’ve gone here quite a few times and they’re just inconsistent. The first time, I had a latte and it was great. Foamy, rich, smooth and even had a nice design on it. Then on other visits(ordering the same drink) it came out watery, too foamy with little coffee or no foam at all. At times, I’ve had to wait a long time(15 mins+) for my drink to come even though they’re was no one ahead of me. Whether it was because the staff didn’t know how to use the machine or they’re always trying to learn on the job I’m not sure. Either way, a tough one to patiently wait for a drink that should be ready within 5 mins. So just know, you’ve been warned. A great cause and I plan to continue supporting this place, but you may not always get the quality you expect compared to other shops.
