I’d just had a picnic by the ocean so I had no room for the strudels or savory croissants. Damn shame because the ham and cheese croissant looked particularly good. My girlfriend and I decided to share an iced mocha. I was skeptical because I’ve been constantly disappointed by Starbucks’ watery version of the drink. I can see how it would be hard to avoid that since there’s ice in the drink, but somehow Helmut’s got it right. It was creamy without being syrupy and I tasted 80% coffee bean and a 20% chocolate essence. It was a drink and a dessert in one container. My girlfriend and I usually offer each other sips of a drink until it runs out but this iced mocha had us reaching out and taking it away from each other every couple of sips. It was the best iced mocha I’ve ever had. I should have sucked it up and eaten a few ham and cheese croissants as well. Until I do, it’s a solid four stars for Helmut’s. I’m sure it’ll be five after I taste their baked goods on the deck overlooking the Marina.

If you want something sweet but are not in the mood for one of the dozens of ice cream shops along the walk, stop in for a piece of delicious strudel to satisfy your sweet tooth! Also has a beautiful view of the water and a lighthouse in the distance. Good coffee drinks as well. Has a ramp to outdoor seating so scooters or wheel chairs can enjoy the scenery too!

Husband got a ham and swiss cheese croissant. It was fresh out of the oven and the buttery bread with meat and cheese was divine. I got a strawberry cream cheese filled strudel. It was also delish but wish i had ordered what the hubs for because it was off the chain. Tasty cappuccino topped it all off. Small place with limited seating but we got there early and did not have to wait.

Fresh and pillowy blueberry croissant was yummy and the cheese strudel was good. If we go back, we will opt for the fruit stuffed strudel.

OMG, what amazing pastry! First we tried the cheese strudel, and then a feta and spinach croissant. Moist and delightful and flaky without being the slightest bit dry. Nearly impossible to get it that good! Wow! Then we came back and had an Almond croissant. Again, just amazing! The apple strudel looked SO good but I am allergic to apples. I was really sad that they don’t have the Cherry ones anymore. But WOW! This place is worth the trip!

Helmut’s is at the center of many family memories of summer trips to Rockport, and today, over 15 years since my last visit, my family and I enjoyed it as much as we always did. The staff was as sweet as you would expect in a town such as this, and the quality of the strudel and lattes are top notch(Ham and Swiss was and is still my very fav)!

Phenomenal pastries and service. Enjoyed the apple strudel, butter croissant, and raspberry cream cheese croissant immensely. The flaky pastry is light and any fillings flavorful. Cash or check only.

Apple strudel was great. Cappuccino was not. It had a bad aftertaste. Almost like it was a low quality espresso machine.

This place is great! All the things we tried were amazing but unfortunately they were out of the apple strudel.

Best Apfelstrudel around! Forget about finding parking near by or even seats at Helmut’s if you have a group to feed. For group entertainment, get takeout. If you are going by yourself, you have a remote chance of getting a seat, but you probably will have to ask someone to share a table while they are texting. Sharing tables should not be an issue as no one talks anyway. Everyone is glued to their devices. And you will be glued to your device after eating Helmut’s Apfelstrudel with your bare hands.

Best little spot on the neck for the freshest strudel. Been coming here for years since I was a kid and the quality is still there. Nothing better than a powdered sugar topped warm apple strudel. We’ll grab some at night while we’re walking around and take another box back for breakfast in the morning. Cool deck on the back to sip a coffee and take in the view.

Think of getting a great deal on a used car. Think of scratching that winning number on a lottery ticket. Think of that blind date where she opens the door and you go «wow!!!). That’s what your experience will be like at Helmut’s. Their menu is very small, only streusel, croissants and muffins. They only make a few things, but they do it oh so well. The pastries are made throughout the day, so they’re always fresh. They are good size, amply filled with quality ingredients, and reasonably priced. Anything can come ala mode, and their vanilla ice cream is better than anything else on the Neck. Very tasty with visible vanilla bean throughout. The inside seating is limited, as is the outdoor patio. But if you can get the cougar up early, head here. Watching the sunrise over the harbor with a hot beverage and a pastry can’t be beat! If you’re ever in the area, why would you go anywhere else?

Stopped by on a visit to Rockport. Lovely little shop that’s famous for their strudel. We tried the Apple strudel with 2 big scoops of vanilla ice cream. The strudel was warm, not hot so I didn’t enjoy it as much but I loved the vanilla ice cream! You can even see the little bits of vanilla essence in the ice cream The hot and cold drinks were really good too, I tried a shot of the espresso. Goes well with the strudel.

Came here for breakfast. What a romantic place to go in my opinion. You get some coffee and a danish or strudel and sit outside on their deck and enjoy the veiw of the water and boats. It’s very cute and really good.

we got the blueberry croissant($ 2.75 +tax) was very good. i’m not sure if it’s the same thing as a strudel but it was good nonetheless. the place is nicely designed and well maintained. they have some seating in the back balcony looking towards the port. the young ladies working there were friendly. i would recommend this place.

Cute little shop that serves fresh strudel(apple, cherry, or sweet cheese), croissants, muffins and coffee. They also have strudel ala mode, which is 2 huge heaping scoops of vanilla ice cream on your choice of strudel. I tried the apple strudel ala mode. Very delicious. The pastry was perfectly flakey and just the right amount of apple inside. The coffee was good, but a bit strong for me. There is some outside seating with a view of the water. Great place to satisfy your sweets tooth and enjoy a cup of coffee.

If you’re trying to decide where to splurge on Bearskin neck, Helmut’s is THE place to go. I’ve tried just about everything on their menu over the years. Coffee is ground fresh, espresso drinks, chai, hot chocolate, iced beverages and smoothies are delicious. Strudel, croissants, and muffins are all baked fresh daily on premises. If you’re feeling adventurous, come out early in the morning and watch a MAGNIFICENT sunrise over Rockport Harbor on their charming back deck, to the soundtrack of chattering sparrows, lapping waves, and the humming of the fishing boats, whilst serenely sipping a mug of freshly brewed dark roast coffee and savoring a rich, buttery, still-warm-from-the-oven, generously portioned coffee cake muffin with cinnamon-sugar-walnut streusel topping. If you’re feeling especially indulgent, try one of their homemade cinnamon buns — complete with a bavarian cream and golden raisin filling and a healthy dollop of drool-inducing homemade cream cheese frosting. Big enough to share, but you might want it all for yourself! If you’re in all-out TREATYOURSELF mode, which you should be, because likely you’re visiting on vacation, and heck, you’ve earned it… go for the strudel ala mode. Your choice of freshly-baked apple, cherry, or sweet cream cheese strudel with buttery-flaky crust and generously filled with your flavor of choice, topped with a generous scoop of homemade, pure vanilla ice cream. The combination of the cold, sweet ice cream and the warm, flaky strudle is to die for. And in case you happen to visit the Strudel Shop at a time when the strudel has already cooled(they bake it fresh daily, and sometimes they bake it multiple times over the course of the day depending on how busy it is) you can always ask to have your strudel heated up for you — this is the way to go in my opinion! The owners are kind and generous and very earth conscious. They do a great job of recycling as much as possible and they even compost the coffee grounds. Another bonus, they’re very animal friendly… sometimes they even have dog biscuits… and you may get lucky enough to see one of their gorgeous kitties leisurely lounging by the little garden outside of the shop. Seating is limited, and it’s a popular destination so you may have to wait in line, and you’ll want to bring cash(ATM a quick walk down the street) …so keep that in mind.

This is a such a great spot! We walked in wanting to have a strudel(because we’d heard such lovely things about it). They have strudel ala mode available, but we wanted to try the sweet cream and the cherry strudel. Lucky for us, you’re able to buy a portion of a strudel, so we got two small portions of the previously mentioned flavors for $ 4.50. They were DELICIOUS! Between the two, I thought the cherry had the best flavor. Dogs are allowed inside, which is great(they even have dog biscuits)! They also have a lovely porch area looking out in the harbor. It was a bit hot, but if you can find a seat in the corner that blocks you from the sun, it’s not all that bad. All in all, a great spot. Didn’t have a chance to try the coffee, but I’m sure I’ll be back soon.
