Usually go to Roy Moore’s for a lobster roll, but wanted to try this place for a change. I’ve been eating lobster/lobster rolls for years, and can usually tell the difference between frozen and fresh. In my opinion, this is frozen lobster, similar to what you might get at McDonald’s. The next day, we went to Roy Moore’s, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! Fresh succulent lobster, which you can see being removed from the shell right before your eyes. To the credit of the Lobster Pool, I did not see any claim that their lobster is fresh, so there is probably no dishonesty. And they do have a nice location, with a great view of the ocean. But if you know and appreciate the difference between fresh and frozen lobster, this is NOT your place… trust me.

Can’t beat the location. Food was decent, not the best, but made better by the seaside views

Overpriced. Went for Father’s day and way too expensive for terrible seafood. The view is nice but the food is terrible. The staff are all young and didn’t seem too organized. Sorry.

Five stars for the beautiful sunset view on a clear June evening. The lobster roll was medium sized with chunks of lobster, no added seasoning, so fairly bland. We tried the fried clams and shrimp which were not greasy which was a nice surprise. Fries were excellent. Biggest complaint upon picking up your food-all condiments in one section except tarter sauce which is near two trash bins and there is no place to put your tray while you pump out the sauce… very awkward. Also on a Saturday night, why would you only have one cashier to take orders? If these two things are corrected, I would say 5 stars for Lobster Pool. Overall a cool Rockport experience.

We thought it was awesome. Had a Fishermans Platter, fish and chips and a crab roll. All fantastic. Great service too and I’ve the charm.

What a let down have driven past here a few times and wondered how it was… Today I found out… no good clam chowder was horrible! Like water one spoon full was enough for me no thanks. Lobster roll basic the usual trick of slicing bread a little bit and balancing lobster on top so it looks full… It wasn’t. On the plus side the views are amazing

On way back from Halibut point park stopped in. Bad decision. Not being familiar with lobster rolls. I asked what they were. No help from girl at counter. For $ 20 i got about 2 mcnuggets worth of meat, on a roll with soggy lettuce and side of fries which was not told they came with. The lobster was Cold but the bun had been toasted. Weird. Found 4 cornchip size pieces of shell. Do Not Go Here. I get better lobster with the fake stuff at grocery store. Way Overpriced!

Second time here, this time we went on a weeknight(last time was a weekend, with barely any parking or seating). You can’t beat the view and the fact that you can BYOB; however, the food is way to overpriced. The fries weren’t good, and the portions aren’t that large for the price you’re paying. Can find similar food for a lot cheaper elsewhere.

Drove up from Boston with the intention of enjoying lobsters and BYOB out back at Roy Moore but I remembered hearing that we also had the option of drinking by the water with seafood at the Lobster Pool. The place was pretty packed for early June but we eventually got our order in. The fisherman’s platter was on the high side at ~$ 35 but they let us sub out the fish for more clams which was a plus. The quality of the food was fantastic and the whole thing would’ve been a 5-star experience if not for one glaring deficiency: tartar sauce. I’m not sure what they are putting in there but it’s far from anything I’ve ever experienced. Maybe clove or allspice? Long story short it’s horrible and should not be allowed near food. I’m all for homemade but Heinz would have been my savior that fateful Sunday. Feeling unfulfilled we still ended up on the deck off bearskin neck which I guess isn’t the worst thing that could’ve happened.

Mediocre, just ordinary. I feel badly for folks who drive from Boston or further and think this is great food. Expensive($ 20 for a lobster roll, $ 22 for steamers, $ 32 for a box of fried clams) and not stellar. But…you cannot beat the view. No discussion.

This is the best ‘shack’ seafood I have ever had, and I am proudly from the south shore, and also have traveled the atlantic coast extensively from Maine to Florida. Insanely fresh seafood, beautiful location, byob(and a very cute liquor store close by to pick up some beer). Don’t settle for table service and and a wine list, nail the food. Do not hesitate.

So against our better judgment(it was a rainy day, late, empty) we revisited LP, and boy oh boy, has it not gotten better. When was the last time you wished your calamari order was smaller? The weakest batch i have ever seen, old and tough. And the clams were again tired, again overcooked, and the oil seemingly stale — Dairy Joy(no connection!) would never permit such. Positively avoid, although at many times of day or week there is little or no competition thereabouts.

Great location/view, though with very limited parking. Fried seafood only, which is always a sure sign of a tourist trap. Our dinner was oddly disproportionate — a lot of fish, few fries and literally a thimble of tartar sauce for me, and a few fried shrimp and a lobster roll half the size of an ordinary hot dog for my wife. Quality marginal. Price: $ 54. More like $$$. These places need to catch up with the health train and offer broiled food, good-sized sides that won’t bust your arteries, and variety. See Mac’s Shack in Wellfleet for one of the better examples of nouveau shack food that won’t hurt your stomach or your wallet.

Great view, ok food. The problem we had is they refused to take our living social deal. It was past the date but the paid value never expires. All we wanted was to use the voucher for what we paid but were told they aren’t allowed to take any vouchers at all any more. We out of our way to go there to use said voucher.

Love this place! Relaxed atmosphere with the best fried clam strips I New England! Went on a week day for lunch with kids. They could run around and have fun out back while eating. Word is weekends get busy so might try week day first.

Need some Maine Lobster and don’t want to drive all the way to Maine? Head here :) Lucky enough to stop in a few minutes before closing and they were willing to fill our order. Got a 1 ¼ lobster, a lobster roll, and a salad between my friend and I. Everything was absolutely delicious! Are outside by the fire(great idea for restaurants by the sea) as we watched the sun set in to the ocean. One of the best meals I’ve had in Boston so far.

A friend and I decided to drive north for good lobster on a Friday evening and we found this gem through the internet. The lobster roll was absolutely phenomenal. The meat was delicious. It came with french fries, which I didn’t know would come with. I got the farmer’s salad on in addition. It was a large salad but the lobster roll wasn’t super filling. The experience was the best. We enjoyed our dinner in front of a little campfire and watched the sun set. It was peaceful and relaxing. No better way to spend a cool summer evening!

Memo to Lobster Poole, I loved this place for several years, but it seems your establishment has jumped the shark. !. Your prices for food have risen astronomically, $ 19.95 for a puny lobster roll?! 2. You need to change the oil in your fryer more often. The french fries were gross. Serve smaller portions of hand cut fries, instead of 3 cups of previously frozen, greasy, disgusting tasting fries. 3. There was a female employee, who«announced» when your food order was ready. First, the microphone volume was beyond loud and so high that I could not enjoy conversation with my dinner companions. Every order announcement she made, she did so with cloying and stupid rhyme schemes: «#263: don’t climb that tree“etc. It was grating, obnoxious and not in any way entertaining. The diners nearby remarked how annoying and disruptive these«announcements ‘were. Sorry Lobster Poole, we’re done. I still love the view out back, but something drastic has happened to my go to relaxing seafood spot.

Perfect New England seafood experience. Pick out your lobster in the pool, then sit on the rocks outside and look out at the ocean. If you time it right, you’ll finish up your meal as they’re setting up the bonfire and serving up s’mores. Be forewarned this place is popular, so figure in time to find a parking spot and to wait a while for your food. But don’t worry, the view makes up for it.

Love Lobster Pool On the water, fresh seafood, great! For all those«well, I got food poisoning here» or whatever: this is a SEAFOODPLACE. I’ve never heard of a single seafood joint without a single soul that claims food poisoning. It happens. No fault of this place. Get over it. As someone who goes there 10−25x a summer, for over 10 years, eating their seafood, I’ve NEVER had food poisoning from here. EVER.
