Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong

A family’s friend recommended this place to eat for dinner and apparently this was a well known kbbq chain at Koreantown.
My first experiences having this non ayce kbbq place with my mother.
My mother and I have first good experiences with our servers: Ren and Ardy (recommend them)

One of the best KBBQ places I’ve ever been to! I usually always go when it opens at 11am because it tends to form lines and get crowded at around 12pm-​1pm. The cheese and corn around the grill is the best! I usually ask them to put more around the side at the beginning. The servers help you cook the meat and depending on who they are, sometimes they even help serve them onto your plate for you, though if you like the meat well done, you would probably not like this because the meat is generally cooked to medium rare when they are finished cooking. The meats are pricey but very good and beautiful. I usually get the prime boneless short rib and the marinated boneless short rib. While my parents like the first, I like the latter because there is more flavor in the meat. Overall, I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family and others if you like Korean bbq!

My wife and I love this chain of restaurants produced and owned by a favorite Korean personality, Kang Ho Dong. We’ve actually been to two other locations previous to our trip here, a couple of times in the Buena Park area and once at the Oahu location (both truly awesome). Which brings us to the newest location in Rowland heights.
Being the first time at this location, we found it’s located in the same plaza as the Boiling Crab. The restaurant doesn’t look quite as large as the Buena Park location but it still had plenty of seating for my wife and I (11am!). Our favorite combo to order is the pork combo that comes with pork check (jowl, my favorite pork meat), thick cut pork belly, and marinated pork (you can choose either marinated pork or spicy marinated pork).
What I love about this place is that the servers are really well trained and do all of the cooking for you. We had an excellent server that was also very polite and always made sure the smoke from the cooking process didn’t spread to us by placing the vent almost directly above the food. And though it’s pretty much inevitable that you’re going to walkout smelling a little bit like BBQ, it’s definitely not as bad as when you go to some all you can eat joint.
And now on to the food, I really do feel as though Kang Ho Dong Baekjeoung has some of the best quality meats I’ve ever tasted at a Korean BBQ. From the Jowl to the final course of meat you choose it’s easy to tell you’re in for a great meal! Another important thing to note is that the sides you get are a bit kicked up a notch compared to other places. Two things of note are the melted cheese over corn kernels and egg mixture that are heated with the grilled meats (but along the pocketed edge of the grill). I absolutely love these two side dishes along side with the normal Banchan.
This is a very strong definite recommendation for anyone that loves Korean BBQ! Check this place out!

This place is bomb it’s a meat lovers heaven. Also came with quite a bit of sides that were very tasty, like the tofu and the dipping sauces. The meat was cooked to perfection especially since I wasn’t cooking they cook for you and there very well trained. I also like the vent that they bring down so when you leave you don’t smell like BBQ. Will I be back, sure the music was a bit load but it works with the theme. I was satisfied and my husband well he was in meat heaven.

I really love eating here. The hostess or host are always nice. The waiters do a good job of getting our meats cooked and bringing us the items we requested. I’ve eaten here twice. I love their lunch box, which is $ 7.99 extra. We ordered the large Beef combo yesterday plus lunch boxes and it was a bit too much food for us. All the meats were super tender. The marinated meat at the end is a bit on the sweet side but goes really well with their kimchi. I really like their kimchi. Make sure to dip the meats in their sauce with wasabi. I really like the onions in there. The combo also comes with eggs, cheesy corn, and a soup of choice. The meal gets pretty pricey but its worth it to venture from our normal routine of ayce!

Great food and amazing service! Even though we came on a super hot day, the food was worth it. Andrew served our party of 10 like a pro, and never left us wanting for anything (water, tea, napkins, salad, he got our backs!). He even cooked all of our meat for us! Didn’t have to lift a finger. Would recommend ¹⁰⁄₁₀. :)
I only suggest that the AC be on higher, but it’s completely understandable that it would be hot in there considering the weather and the fire in front of us.

OMG! I can die happy. I was so excited to find this place! My bf and I have been craving some good korean BBQ place, and thought of going to somewhere in K-​town, but circumstances bought me back to the 626. After searching Unilocal for a while, I can’t believe there’s a Kang Ho Dong here. The one in K-​town was spot on, and this one doesn’t disappoint! (and without the long lines)
Michelle, the waitress, was fantastic and helpful. The food… omg. just check out the pictures yourself.
This is not AYCE, but the combo + copious helpings of banchans will filled you up so full that I’m writing this Unilocal review so that I can just wait it out and finish the rest of the food… Definitely give Gen BBQ in West Covina a run for its money.

When I heard Kang Ho Dong opened up in my neighborhood, I was very excited! I have been to the two other locations (Buena Park and KTown) but the wait is always so obnoxiously long that it takes away from the whole experience.
Around 630 PM on a Friday night, we were able to get seated within 20 minutes of arriving!
The Service: From the time our server came to take our order to the time that we left, I felt as if she was rushing us to get out of there. She was very antsy when we didn’t know what to order the first time she came around, but to be fair, we had only sat down for about 5 seconds. When she came back around, we were asking her questions about certain dishes and she was not forth coming with the information. After our food arrived, she began cooking the brisket, and even though half the brisket was still red, she just turned them over and said they were done when they clearly were not. I’m not sure why she was in a rush because the restaurant was not very busy, but it was not a very pleasant experience. Towards the end of our meal, another server helped her cook our food and he was much more friendly so it almost evened out.
The Food: Like all other Kang Ho Dong establishments, the meat was so good! When the different cuts of beef arrived, you can definitely see that the restaurant does not buy the cheap, bad quality meats. The lunchbox (fried rice) and the kimchi soup were also delicious. I did, however, see the table next to me order a beef tartar and I was very intrigued. It is on my «to order next time» list!
Go for the food definitely, but service is a hit or miss so I guess don’t take it personally if you feel like they are trying to rush you out.

I am a creature of habit, and my stomach loves that I follow such an unvarying routine of going to Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong. What drove me to come here for the very first time, was actually the mouthwatering side dish of cheesy corn; the attentive service, high quality and amazing taste of the food keeps me coming back.
There are no reservations, so I do recommend eating at an odd time of day if you would like to beat the rush. They do allow you to leave your name and number with the hostess, so that you can receive a text message when your table is ready.
I have always ordered the «Beef Combo» which comes with thinly sliced brisket, seasoned prime boneless short rib, prime boneless short rib OR prime rib eye, and beef brisket soybean paste stew OR kimchi stew. The seasoned prime boneless short rib is packed with flavor, melts in your mouth, and is my absolute favorite from the menu. Steamed egg, corn cheese, onions, kimchi, and other delicious banchan come with the combo. Depending on each person’s appetite, the small ($ 59.99) is perfect for 2 – 3 people, while the large ($ 98.99) can definitely feed a party of 4. Also, there is no AYCE meat option, but I am pretty sure that everyone will leave full and satisfied.
Don’t forget to order the «lunch box», a must try if it is your first time dining here! Your server will come to your table and forcefully shake a tin box filled with rice, seaweed, kimchi, mung beans and a fried egg.
The servers always ask how you would like your meat to be cooked, and skillfully cook the meat to perfection. Also, they consistently change the grill to refrain from burning the meat, without having to be asked. I love how minimalistic the food selection is and how you really can’t go wrong ordering anything from the menu. Sadly, I don’t think that I will enjoy going to any other Korean BBQ place, as it simply won’t compare to Kang Ho Dong Baekjeong.

Ren! We can’t thank you enough for the spectacular service you have provided us! We felt really welcomed for our first time and definitely will be back! Everything was delicious and I certainly was not accustomed to being cooked for at a Korean BBQ establishment. Loved the refillable sides, especially the steamed egg, cheese corn, Kim chi pancakes, pickled daikon, and salad. My co-​workers and I got the large beef portion for 4 of us to share and it was more than enough. Thank you to the entire staff as well because they also checked in with us to see if we needed anything :) Thank you for the 2 complimentary soju beverages as well as «lunch box» specials. Lol, we thought we were getting lunch boxes to take home at first… oopsies.
Overall, amazing service is hard to come by and I just had to write a review on the spot, even before I knew about the complimentary soju, just to clear that part up.
P. S. It was a tad bit confusing to find the location at first, but it is right behind/​next to Kingwood! I called to verify as I was worried Unilocal had the incorrect address, lol

People always tell me about LA Korean Bar-​B-​Q being the «BEST KBBQ.» I always thought KBBQ is generally the same everywhere. Some just cheaper than others. Some give you more/​less banchan. You know, the same.
NOPE, I was sooooo wrong. Walking into the restaurant alone was different than other spots because it wasn’t smoky. No strong stench of bbq so, that would save my clothes the stench of said bbq smoke. They have vents right above the grill so when you’re cooking the smoke immediately goes into the vents.
The grills also have empty spaces next to the grill for the corn cheese, egg, and sautéed veggies. DOPE. No place in Vegas has either of these.
The banchan was delish. Pickled daikon and radishes. Veggie pancakes. Asian salad. Tofu soup. And when we’d finish the banchan before the meat came out, the workers had more banchan on its way to the table for us. Service was great!
The meat was marinated perfectly. Pork, chicken, kalbi, beef tongue. And when I thought I couldn’t eat anymore food; they brought out the spicy pork. OMG — why didn’t they bring this out first =(I was sooo stuffed but, still ate 5 bites; it was so juicy.
It’s surely not all you can eat like in Vegas but, I don’t even mind it. Yes, it was that good and so very worth the price. Even with us splitting the costs with tip, it was about $ 65 each. Decent price, considering Vegas KBBQ is around $ 50 anyways.
With all the LA eateries coming to Vegas, lets hope this KBBQ finds its way to Sin City.

I could never pronounce the name, but this place is damn good. GAME CHANGER GOOD!
Now I realize what everyone was talking about when they said best in KTown. I had a party of 10+ and the manager was more than accommodating when they under quoted us on the wait time by a hour. Glad to know they take care of their customers.
I don’t think you can go wrong ordering here. I’ve been here 3 times and always gravitate towards the beef combo because I can have a little of everything. A large combo ($ 98.99) will feed a party of 4 easily. The a la carte portions are not much larger and it’ll end up costing more.
The combo includes:
+ Thinly sliced brisket
+ Boneless short rib &
+ Prime rib eye
If you want some pork then you can opt to do two small combos — one pork and one beef. Then you really get some variety going on.
All the meat is top quality. Seasoned prime boneless short rib is my absolute favorite!!! It’s the sweet marinade that gives it so much flavor. I don’t even need to dip it in the sauce. Kind of reminds me of the marinade we use for our homemade Korean short ribs — Mmmmm. They also have the best kimchi banchan and tofu soup.
Order a «lunch box» (kimchi fried rice with egg) and you can expect a shake party happen in front of you. Heard it’s quite the workout.
Another great thing is they do all the cooking for you. Don’t know about everyone else, but when I eat out I don’t want to have to pay and still cook my food. I think my AYCE KBBQ days will be rare now that I discovered this gem.
If you can handle some dessert then AFTERS ice cream is just across the street. Not gonna lie, it’s already happened to me more than once… ;)

Seriously, after eating here I really do not think I could ever go back to AYCE Korean bbq places. Granted this place is not an AYCE Korean bbq place and it is a pricier than your typical Korean bbq joint but honestly the food and the service more than makes up for it.
I left completely stuffed and fully satisfied. Everything was great, which so rarely happens at a restaurant, there’s always a catch. The 4 of us got here around 6 on a Saturday night and they quoted us at a 45min — 1hr wait. They do take down your number and text you when your table is ready which is awesome because you are free to leave and come back.
It is a fairly large place with a limited menu. Since there were 4 of us, we got the large beef combo with rib eye and soy bean soup. The sauce and banchan are already on the table and they offer unlimited amount of banchan. The sauce is so good, make sure to mix the wasabi in it. The banchan is also really good. The favorites of the table were the potato pancake and the bean sprout salad mix.
The servers come and cook everything for you. They continuously change the grill so you are not getting charred food. The grill is unique because it also has side parts for cooking corn cheese, vegetables and an egg mix. The grill also had a piece of wood that I think gave the meat a nice smoky flavor.
The brisket with the sauce and salad mix was delicious. It was a great quality, barely any fat and cooked to perfection. The group loved the rib eye and marinated meat but I’m not a fan of steak. I think it is too chewy and the marinated meat tasted sweet and smoky.
Our server was awesome. I was not expecting much because Asian restaurants are not always known for their great service but the service here was absolutely great. Our server was attentive and made sure that we had everything we needed.
TIPS:
Corn cheese, banchan and egg mixture are all unlimited!
To cook the egg mixture faster, our server recommended stirring it every once in a while.
They have a little stool thing underneath the seat. It’s not a trash can! It’s so you can put purses or jackets in for storage so they don’t end up smelling.
Despite the innovative suction, you will still smell like Korean BBQ.

Comfort food for meat lovers at it’s best! First time we have tried Korean BBQ in an authentic and traditional way, it was interesting and fun. Went for an early Sunday dinner at the perfect time, it was barely any wait for us, but later on there was a lot of ppl waiting for tables.
Liked the set up for each table, side dishes and sauces were all spread out nicely. Very limited banchan but they were delicious, especially liked the veggie pancake and bean sprouts salad. And I found out from the little paper on the table, we are supposed to eat the bean sprouts and green onion salad with meats, it’s the authentic Korean way. Oh well, since I can’t eat meats so I just ate the salad alone, it was so tasty with spicy paste. I was sure the cold soup with veggies was meat based, so I didn’t try it.
Basically it’s a meats only Korean BBQ, extremely limited seafood and veggie items on the menu. All combos are beef and pork, hubby decided to have a small combo with beef, I ordered a seafood tofu soup. Servers cooked the meats for us, loved it they were not in hurry cooking everything at once, it was a nice pace and very enjoyable. The brisket, ribeye and marinated short rib were all very good, fresh, tender and juicy according to hubby. I liked my seafood tofu soup OK, not enough seafood in there, but the flavors were so good.
They put cheese corn, veggies and steamed eggs on grill, very unique, the beef soup that came with the combo was yummy too. The small combo portion was huge already, I think it could easily feed up to 3 – 4 ppl, although this is not AYCE Korean BBQ, but the food is definitely more than enough for everybody! No way hubby could finish the meats by himself, packed everything to go of course. We had two bottles of Hite beer too, what’s Korean BBQ without beer right?!
I’d give this place 5 stars if they had seafood grill, unfortunately they don’t! The service was top notch, everyone was so pleasant and attentive, definitely a new great Korean BBQ addition in the hood!

All the meats are good, but the seasoned prime rib was a standout. They really know how to cook the meat because everything was super delicious.
Yay, a new KBBQ that lived up to its standards! And this is not AYCE! Enjoy =)

First off — such an awesome staff! As soon as you walk in and get seated, all the workers there immediately greet you with «Hello, welcome to Baekjeong» or something like that. And when I say greet you, I mean that they yell across the room with all this vibrant energy. With people greeting you like that as soon as you come in, I thought that was pretty amazing in it of itself.
As for the food, our server suggested that we get the Small Beef Combo ($ 59.99) which was supposedly good for 2 – 3 people. We had 3 in our party, so we went for that. It came with 3 different types of meat: Chadol (thinly sliced beef brisket), Joomuluk (seasoned prime short rib), and Kkot sal (Prime Boneless Short Rib). No complaints about the quality of meat. However, the seasoning on the joomuluk was extremely sweet — which was also very overpowering.
We also got a side order of the Lunch Box ($ 8) which is simply just a small box filled with Kimchi Fried Rice. It was fun to see the server shake the box in front of us to mix all the ingredients together, but that was about it. Portion was pretty small and the taste was just OK. The steamed egg, cheese corn, and dwenjangjjigae (bean paste stew) were also just OK. There was plenty of side dishes and they are very nice about bringing you more when you run out.
Our total bill came out to about ~$ 73 which wasn’t bad for the amount of food we got. Overall, good food and good vibes.

Came here when they first opened in Rowland Heights, and then a couple times after. First off, the parking is horrible, I hate the plaza that it’s in, try parking across the street at 99 Ranch and walking over, or if you wanna risk it, at the hotel next to the plaza. I can tell you now, the wait will always be that long, the servers told me that the wait at the other restaurants are consistently just as long and they’ve been open for awhile. I’ve waited 1 – 2 hours each time, it really sucks, and I don’t know if it’s worth it, but it’s definitely worth the try! If you want a shorter wait time, come after 8 PM. What’s nice is that they have the text notifications, so you can go roam around, but just make sure you’re back within 10 minutes of that text! I usually go to Ten Ren’s and grab a drink and chill there.
The service here is impeccable, they should really pride in their service if they don’t already. It’s absolutely amazing. If you ask for something, it’ll be done within 30 seconds. The first time I was here, I was absolutely shocked.
The food is pretty good. The meat is of better quality than the surrounding KBBQ places, but it should be because you’re paying a good amount for it. My family and I always get the small Beef Combo which fills all four of us. You get a plate of brisket, boneless short rib, and an option between the marinated boneless short ribs and something else, my family always gets the marinated boneless short ribs. The marinated boneless short ribs have to be my favorite since they pack so much flavor and the meat is super tender! The servers cook the meat for you, and it’s always cooked perfect, again with the great service! The combo comes with a kimchi stew, which I think it absolutely delicious.
The side dishes/​salads are really good also — on the side of the grill, there’s cheese and corn, and once the cheese melts, it’s good to eat! The egg on the side of the grill is also really good, it just takes time to cook through! During their first weekend of opening, we also got the kimchi rice box for free and it’s definitely something to try! They show you the box before they mix it all up, and then they shake it and bam it’s kimchi mixed rice! Super entertaining! I don’t know if I’d pay $ 8 now for it though because the portion isn’t that big, but it’s fun to watch for the first time!
Overall, this place is the place to come if you want some great service and good quality meat. Unfortunately, for me, the wait just isn’t worth it.

I been dying to try the location in LA but where my BF lives is too far to make the trek. So when i found out they opened a location here in Rowland Heights I was excited to go.
At 6:56pm there were people waiting outside and wait time was quoted an hour or more but maybe less. They take your name and phone number to text you when your table is ready. Your party must all be there when you come back to get your table. It will still take an additional 5 – 10 mins after you check back in with them when you get the text. To our surprised we got seated 45 mins later. The food was delicious except i was not fond of the brisket soybean stew, it was overly salty.
The restaurant is decent with movable suction fan that helps prevent you taking the smell of your dinner with you on your clothes lol. The only concern I had was I noticed they might have developed a ant problems. I did noticed where we sat they were on the wall and in our napkin tray. I told the server and he removed the napkin tray and replaced it apologizing but I dont think he heard me say they are also crawling on the wall and close to the tables. Anyways, I really wanted to try the place and they were a full house so we sat thru it hoping the ants wont get in our food. During the meal i watch over everything to make sure the ants didnt get in our food. By the end of the meal i saw the ants crawling into my BF’s empty beer bottle. Thankfully we were done.
Service was awesome with minor hiccups, they cook the food for you at the perfect temperature you want like my other fav restaurant Genwa. Our server Joo was awesome and very interactive. He was courteous and on time checking on us. He made the experience fun and yummy. He did forget to bring us the second serving of salad and kimchee pancake when asked though it was he that offered, so that was a bummer. But we did let it go because he was doing everything else good.
On to the food, we got the beef combo small which was plenty for 2 – 3 people. For the boyfriend and I, many leftovers. We also got japche and seafood tofu stew– extra spicy. All was yummy especially the prime boneless short rib — marinated and plain. Those two were the star of the night. Mmm just had a midnight snack of leftover japche and marinated boneless short rib.
Beef combo– also comes with egg, corn cheese, and beef brisket soybean stew
Brisket (⁴⁄₅) a little too fatty for me but yummy
Prime boneless short rib (⁵⁄₅) mmmmm this was yummy and so tender. Cooked medium for us.
Marinated prime boneless short rib (⁵⁄₅) the sauce was not overpowering and the meat was soo tender.
Egg and corn cheese (⁴⁄₅) yummy but normal
Beef brisket soybean stew (¹⁄₅) meh… Was super salty and bland.
Japche (³⁄₅) i love japche but this one was lacking in beef and veggie and slightly bland. So I cannot rate a full 5
Seafood tofu stew extra spicy (⁴⁄₅) the broth was really good, not as spicy as i would like so i dock a pt but really good.
Overall a solid ⁴⁄₅ for me, the food and service is great and i would come back. I had to dock a star for the pesky ant issues. For a promising restaurant, i hope they take care of the ant problem as that is a health code issue and it is a turn off if you have to worry about critters getting into your food.

Kang ho dong had one of the best if not the best Kang ho dang service I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Let me explain.
I’ve been to the one in korea town and Buena park respectively. Each branches service and food were better than the next but this Rowland heights branch was next level.
We usually get a few orders of the pork jowl and beef skirt and per usual gave me a full gourmand erection I’m talking full mast. The jowl had amazing flavor and the skirt ridiculously tender but both equally as savory. Prime rib and rib eye are my usual picks for beef but this skirt was a serious contender. Skirt is typically a lot tougher but this skirt literally melted in my mouth. The only thing that could make these meats even better was how well they were grilled which brings me to Sean and Andrew.
First off Sean is the man. He was the manager for Buena park and moved to Rowland so naturally we followed him because his service is simply put, the best. Every time we come it’s always a awesome time. He makes sure every one is full and taken care off. And you know that his service standards rubs off on his staff because Andrew was just as awesome. I fancy myself quite the established pitmaster and I must tip my hat to these guys. When the meat was grilling I would be anxiously looking around thinking «this meats almost done shouldn’t they be flipping soon?» When I looked back Andrew was already there flipping away before I could even finish my thought. He was on point all night pirouette-​ing from table to table to the music of sizzling meat. It was the kind of ballet I could get into.
When I didn’t think the service could get any better another server came to our table looked at our unopened beer and asked us «how long has this been sitting here?» we drunkenly responded, «I don’t know a lot time?» he then freaking took the bottle away and gave us a fresh new ice cold bottle no questions asked. At that point I was like stop, stop! It’s too much service!
But I digress. I leave you all with this bit of advice. Come here, eat fantastic food, enjoy even better service, and most importantly, have an amazing dining experience.

If you want some TLC, go to KHD. Words do no justice to Kang Ho Dong Baekjong. Their food is heaven’s ambrosia.
I once came 2 times in one week. That’s how amazing this place is.
I usually get the combo and the star of the meal is their marinated beef. IT’S MARINATED WITH HONEY, GARLIC, PEPPER and salt or sugar idk. IT’S JUST SO GOOD. I want to dip everything in their marinate. No joke our party has asked for the sauce and we dipped everything in it.
I wish the egg and cheesy corn could be magically ready at the beginning of the meal but I always have to wait towards the end of the meal to eat it :(what a tease!
Their lunch box rice is soososo good too. I learned about this during my third visit… I was missing out!
Their service is usually pretty good. Sometimes the servers forget to refill the side dishes when yoy ask but overall their service is usually on point. Bless their souls for cooking the meat and turning it into perfection. Y’all are magicians.
This place is life-​changing.

Yum, this place has amazing food. I visited their Buena Park location first, and I was surprised to see one in Rowland Heights! They are located in the Sam Woo & Boiling Crab plaza, but closer to the hotel. (Afters ice cream is also situated here.) The parking situation sucks here because Asians like to build compact spaces. I happened to get here at 5 pm on a Sunday so I got princess parking at the front of the restaurant :) My party of six waited only about 5 minutes for them to prepare a table for us. As I was leaving, there was a huge crowd to be seated. Make sure you get here early to avoid the long wait.
This is not AYCE Korean BBQ. Know what you want to eat, rather than order everything just to try it. What to get: the beef combo. The small feeds 2 – 3 people, and the large feeds 5 – 6 people. Both come with side salads, cheese corn, and egg. You can choose either soy bean paste soup or kimchi stew. The short rib is amazing. You can also just get a separate order of that on top of the combo. The lunch box is also pretty popular because it is delicious kimchi fried rice with fried egg. A server will show you the contents of box and then shake it up right there by your table.
I knocked off a star here because it took our servers three tries before we got what we wanted. First it was the sauce because they only gave us four (our party was six). Second, I asked the same guy three times for sesame oil, and he finally came back with it the third time. Third, I asked a server for waters (shouldn’t this be served first?), but he didn’t show up. A woman came to flip our meat and asked what we needed. I told her a guy was supposed to bring water for us. After she left, another guy came to flip our meat. I told him we were still waiting for water, and he was able to get some for us.

I LOVE KHD, I wish they opened a larger location because the wait here sucks. But their meat selection, sides and service are all unparalleled by even the wide selection of restaurants here in OC. I do like Ma Rang Gak in Garden Grove which is the only one that rivals KHD but because of KHD’s rim of steamed egg and Cheesy Corn, they win!
The manager is super friendly and came over to check on us and apologized for the wait. We came with a party of 7 and had to squeeze to a table of 6 leaving us with only 1 grill which made our dining experience a little less than fantastic (had to wait for days for another piece of meat) but their attention to this was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend them expand even more: D

Came here on a Friday at 630 and the wait was an hour for a party of 4. Expect to wait! But they text you when your table is ready so you can go shop at 99 ranch across the street or do whatever while you wait lol
Our waiter Andrew was amazing!!! He was super nice and hilarious. He was super attentive and always making sure we got what we needed. The only bad thing was that our meat took like 45 minutes to come out, which I don’t think was his fault but I was literally starving after waiting almost 2 hours total for some real food lol.

The total came out to be about 25 per person which was totally worth it for high quality kbbq.

Ambiance: clean and big but you WILL come out smelling like kbbq. I love how in Japan they spray you down with deodorant and offer gum upon exiting a bbq restaurant but I digress…
Service: excellent, your waiter cooks everything for you and changes the grill often. Just hope you don’t get stuck with a noob
Tip; crazy crowded during peak times, so be smart and opt for an early lunch and dinner or super late dinner. There are no reservations, but you can use the No Wait App to hold your place in line and they will text you when the table is ready. We went on a Friday at 11:30am for lunch and it was a perfect time, no wait! :)

Update. This restaurant is hard to miss, the way I found out about this new location is when I saw it off the freeway!
Whenever I am trying to convince someone that AYCE (all you can eat) KBBQ ain’t all that, I take them here! For two people, you can get 3 cuts of meat, unlimited side dishes, and an attentive waiter that cooks your meat for you! (You also get some corn cheese and egg that’s cooked slowly on the grill! Exciting! All for $ 60! The quality of meat is way better than AYCE places and they have pretty good ventilation. It was my first time trying this location (I usually go to the ktown one). I will definitely be back when I’m craving kbbq. I also tried the lunchbox thanks to my waiter it was so good! Basically kimchi rice fish cake and egg, all mashed together. My waiter was working so hard he was sweating and running around like the Tasmanian devil! Make sure you tip well here! You never see this kind of hard work lately… Especially from millennials… Jk. Or not lol.

We got the large beef combo for about $ 100 and wow, this definitely beats all you can eat. All you can eat is definitely good once in a while, but you also deserve better quality meats once in a while. We got thinly sliced brisket, ribeye and seasoned prime boneless short rib with a side of kimchi stew. The stew was a bit too spicy for me but everything tasted so great over all. There’s even corn cheese and egg that is included on the pot, so they cook throughout the duration of your meal.
The customer service is good here as well; there is plenty nearby if you need something and the staff also helps you cook the meat. The customer service, the amount of ban chan (side dishes), and the quality of the entire meal makes this place deserves 5 stars! We will definitely come back to try this place again!

Good meat, the quality is some of the best I’ve ever had and the service was great. We ate well and every single ban chan was excellent, seriously and I NEVER use that word but each dish was excellent and stood on it’s own. Usually the meat is good and maybe a side dish or two BUT not here. Every single side dish and soup and salad was ON POINT.
Beautiful presentation and traditional bowls and dishes make the experience even better.
The only problem is a big one. It’s typical of these higher end KBBQ joints for the waiter/​waitress to grill the meat for you at the table and it’s typical that they’re not very good at it and by not very good I mean they generally fuck with the meat too much. Literally flipping and turning the meat to death. When you mess with the meat too much it turns the meat into a shredded mess, when it’s not ready to be flipped it sticks to the grill and you end up breaking the meat up.
Our «grill master» took this to a whole ‘nother level and was literally stir-​frying our beef like it was in a wok!!! I was very annoyed.
Lesson In Grilling:
Place the meat (thin slices) down evenly. Let it sit and let science do it’s thing. 1.5 to 2 mins (2 to 3 for thicker cuts) later OR when you start seeing the blood rise and it forms a bubble on top of your pieces of meat it’s now time to flip it. Once. Count to ten. Eat. Thats it.

The quality of meat is what keeps this place packed!
Important things to note: Not AYCE and wear clothes that you don’t care about. You will smell! But at least you’ll be happy from the food when you leave! :)
I came on a Saturday night and it was busy. You give your name and phone number to the hostess outside the door. They will text you to let you know when your table is ready. I waited about an hour. You go to your table and the side dishes (banchans) are already out. There was salad, kimchi, pancake, sweet potato thingy, bean sprout salad, pickled radish, and this sour soup (?? I don’t know what this was and didn’t really like it). There were also 3 banchans that were cooking on the grill: steamed egg, corn & cheese, and vegetables. Egg was great, corn & cheese was amazing, and the vegetables were laughable. It sucked. I’m not sure if you can ask for more of the banchans that were on the grill but maybe try? The other banchans on the table were unlimited. You can also ask for a bowl of rice at no extra charge.
My table ordered the BEEF COMBO.
BEEF COMBO:
Thinly sliced brisket

We picked the boneless short rib and soybean paste stew. both REALLY GOOD and the boneless short rib was ridiculously tender. The brisket was amazing too! This is full service so you don’t need to cook. The waiter will cook the meat for you. I saw other tables had this rectangular tray of something. I am guessing that’s the fried rice that I read about in other reviews. I am not sure why my table didn’t get one.
In summary, I would go back. The quality was obviously top notch however it was pretty pricey. :(
Parking: Shared lot with other businesses in the plaza. Good luck out there! There’s parking but you just have to be patient.

Another Kang Ho Dong but this location is in Rowland Heights. Located in a very super busy plaza you might have a pretty hard time if you show up during the weekend. It’s been a pretty popular site since it’s been open, so many people are waiting and wanting to check this place out. But I heard that this location is less of a wait than the one in KTown.
Since this spot has opened I have been here twice and once to celebrate a birthday while the other was just with a small group of friends. Both of those times I felt that they did give us pretty good service.
We ordered the beef package since most of us don’t really enjoy eating so much pork and they actually cook it for you which is also a bonus. You can just sit and relax while they do all the hard work. It’s nice and that’s one of the things that I do enjoy.
The thing is that I think the sides are quite small especially even if we have a table of six people they still seem to give us the same amount as if we were a table of three. That is one of the negative but you can always ask them for more. It’s just a tad bit annoying especially if they are busy, which they always are.
The meat is great and cooked very well, everyone did enjoy it and I have to say I wouldn’t mind coming back. They also serve beer and soju so if you want to drink you can always do that while having a nice meal. Also a bonus is they are open late!

NOT AYCE JOINT
My second time trying another kbbq joint that is not ayce. Guess this friend of mine only like quality meat & not ayce meat. The good part is that I’m still full & satisfied after even if it’s not ayce though.
In additional to beef or pork combo, you can order extra meat of your own choice. Since we tried pork last time at quarters, we went with beef combo this time!

This is perfect combo for two people. I was hella full afterward even though the quantity didn’t look much at first.
— Beef Brisket: to be honest, I can’t tell when it comes to brisket. All I know is that it’s beef and it’s good everywhere to me. Unless it’s really fatty.
— Seasoned prime boneless short rib: ooooh! This has to be my favorite out of the 3 items mainly because it’s marinaded so it has more flavors. And it was so juicy!
— Prime Rib Eye (or prime boneless short rib): since we already chose the seasoning one, we figured it’s best to get the rib eye. This one was plain so it was alright. I’d have to bring my A1 sauce next time with me!

Each combo automatically come with steamed egg & corn cheese. They put this on the side of the grill. The corn cheese was sweet and delicious! And the egg was just egg to me, nothing special.
You also get to pick soybean paste stew or kimchee stew and we went with kimchee stew. It’s basically kimchee made into soup, which is always too sour for my taste.

WARNING: this review is solely based on the service. Read with precaution.
I love the Buena Park location. I’m a very big fan of Kang ho dong baekjeong. I’m not lying, just check my review of that location. When a new one opened in Rowland heights, i thought I’d come check it out. Maybe I should have waited until the servers got used to the demanding patrons but i certainly did not receive a friendly service during my last visit here.
It was very frustrating to feel like it’s a burden every time we asked for something. The one thing that set me off was that the table must be a bit smaller than BP location because it was pretty cramped with all the side dishes and gotten to the point of hindering our eating spaces when our meat orders came. I looked over at the neighboring table of pretty Korean girls, and they had a side stand with a tray thing so they had plenty of room on their table. I requested the same thing for our table because my cousin literally had no space to eat. Our server replied back and basically rejected it saying that there won’t be room to cook. That was the first encounter that really started a fire inside of me. However, he did end up doing that for us after his smartass reply.
They never asked what we wanted to drink. I had to ask for water and when I did, he acted like it was such a big trouble for him to get us some water.
I’m very grateful that they cook for us. Don’t get me wrong, it’s really nice of them to do that. But this noob server kept moving the grill while cooking and ended up pushing a piece of meat into the egg well. The grill would keep moving onto the sides. It wasn’t a pleasant show to watch.
He would also not cook the next round of meat until everything on the grill was cleared. Could he have just moved the meat to the surrounding empty well to cook the next batch? He certainly could have but nope. I started noticing that so I basically moved the meat because we didn’t want to be too full to try the other ones. It would have been okay to take home the ones we already tried as leftovers.
Also, why does the egg take so damn long to cook?! The egg is usually my favorite because all the fatty meat juices from grilling trickles into the egg well and flavors it really well. I was pretty bummed to only be able to get two rounds of that egg.
Service was a bust. But the wait time was pretty good considering the average 1 hour wait at the other location. We only waited 15 minutes but it might have been because we went there around 5pm. There was a bunch of people waiting outside by the time we left around 7pm. The food is awesome. Meat quality is top notch and is very much the same as the other one. We ordered a small pork combo with the marinated pork collar and a side of brisket. The small beef combo might be better for all you beef lovers. The marbling on their short rib is like art. Definitely check this place out just don’t expect any friendly smiles from your noob servers. And expect a wise ass response if you get the server I got.

Oh my goodness this place always hits the spot!!! I’m so glad I don’t have to drive all the way to Ktown to devour all the deliciousness this Korean bbq joint has to offer.
It’s true when they say you pay for what you get. The prices here are definitely higher than your regular Korean BBQ place, but the quality of the service and meat is outstanding. For a group of two, I normally go for the beef combo in the size small. The size small is more than enough meat for me and you leave feeling full (and not disgusting).
The sauce that you mix the wasabi in is soooo delicious and complements the marbled meat so well. The side dishes taste fresh and I love that I don’t have to do any cooking! I am always in awe at how amazing the service is. Our waiter was awesome and he cooked the meat to perfection. I’m not kidding when I say the meat melts in your mouth. It’s too good. I’m a huge fan haha.
It’s worth the wait. The hype is real, guys.

I’m sad. I love the Buena Park location. My first time there, I was blown away. Food was great, service was great, it showed me the difference between AYCE kBBQ and not AYCE.
I came here last week with two friends on a Wednesday night around 8pm. The place was POPPIN’. It was almost a full house, we either got the last table or second to last table. The host was super sweet! Hana is great, super helpful.
Everything was alright till we sat down. Honestly these two stars were generated by the amount of time we were served and the amount of words exchanged between our server and us LOL. Clearly, not a lot of words or service.
Alright food (3.5÷5): it’s expensive. Prepare yourself. I didn’t eat much, I pretty much just did taste testing because I wasn’t really hungry but it was around $ 70 for the small beef combo… SO pricey, and it wasn’t even that much food… thank god my friends (they’re guys too) are nice souls not hangry ones. The quality was okay. The steak was yummy, very tender and still tasted good even though it wasn’t marinated. The sauce provided is interesting… although the wasabi doesn’t mix well.
THE PART THAT MADE ME THE SADDEST WAS THE CORN CHEESE AND EGG. It was so overdone and hard. Not even slightly enjoyable… I understand that we probably should have ate it earlier but our waiter didn’t explain ANYTHING to us. The way you eat certain things or when’s the best time to eat it? Nothing. Cmon bro. It’s foreign to us. Luckily the meat quality boosted it from 2 star food quality to 3.5…
Service (¹⁄₅): L o l. I would give a 0 but that’s a bit harsh. The thing that got to me was in the end we had our hand raised for a good 10 mins for the check and our server was completely oblivious. He was walking around with his head down the whole time. The only reason we got our check in the end was because another girl was walking around and saw us. Wth. We didn’t even bother waiting for him to pick up the check, we just went to the front to close our bill. I was already irked from the beginning when he barely made any form of conversation with us when we were ordering… cmon. friendliness is what earns the tip… smh. I can’t.
And when I asked for napkins. he didn’t say «oh yeah of course» or even just an «ok» he walked away and I was like welp. I guess no napkins. He was doing other stuff then 10 mins later, he drops off a stack of napkins without a word and it was like a swift walk and drop and keep walking. It’s so funny I swear.
Probably won’t be back… I might as well go to AYCE… or just back to Buena Park. It’s not that much farther.

I will start with the only bad thing about Kang Ho Dong, shared among all the restaurants: still no way to make reservations. The positive thing is that you can download the app which tells you how many parties are ahead of you. NOTE: I hear the app destroys your phone’s battery, so you’re better off not using it.
Anyways, I came on a Friday night at 7:30 with 7 people, little did I know the wait would be around 2 hours long. They did offer a few times if we wanted to split our group but we opted to wait it out. The manager Sean kept checking in on us and updating us on the status of the other tables which was really nice of him.
Fast forward two hours later, we finally get seated and the first thing that happens is Sean stops by our table and offers two comp’d beer bottles, super awesome! We quickly placed our order, 1 Large Beef Combo and 1 Large Pork Combo for the 7 of us. We decided to get the short ribs and the pork belly as our options, both very good choices. As we were getting our meat cooked, they stopped by with more comp’d food, yay!
Best part about this place is the quality of the meat, it is not comparable to any of the ayce BBQ places and on top of that, they have designated cooks who cook the meat for you so that you don’t ruin any of the meat. Their side dishes are amazing, the sweet potato, bean sprout salad, tofu, seafood pancake, etc. Make sure you keep asking for more!
Honestly can’t thank Sean and his team for their service and the attention they gave us. If it wasn’t for the location right next to my house, I would definitely go to this one. But since most of my friends live in this area, I know I’ll be back in the future.

So glad they opened this Rowland location. This is literately the best KBBQ experience you can find in town.
I’ve said the same about the Ktown location, the side dishes here really make this restaurant stand out. Yes it’s more expensive than eating at an AYCE place, but as you get older, how much can you really eat right?
Here are some of the reasons that make this place great:
+Full service, that means you don’t gotta cook your own meat. I hate when people don’t know how to cook meat. That means I gotta cook, and if I cook, I can’t eat! Dilemma.
+Top notch quality meat. You can grill the meat here and literately use no sauce and it would taste great. You can see the fat on the meat. Moar fat = moar flavor!
+Patented (at least I hope they did) Sides. Probably most well know for their unique grill setup, they got the ban chan game on lock. The cheese corn and egg are already great by themselves, but just think about it… while you cook your meat, the fatty turns into oil, rolls down to the side, and in to the corn and egg… infused with the fat of the pork or beef, the egg becomes a super rice and creamy side dish that is to die for. Absolutely divine.
+Convenience. The ktown location is always packed. You can get there early and still wait in line for one hour. Plus parking here is free. Not to mention that it’s like 2 miles away from my house. Now, I think the wait time here might change in the future as more people find out about this place. But JUST KNOW, it will still probably better than the wait in ktown. REAL TALK.
Shoutout to the server Kyle and Andrew for being so friendly and awesome. My friend and I got the pork combo that included the pork cheeks (jowls) and pork belly. Crazy delicious. And ALWAYS… get the lunch box rice.

Omg kang ho dong most definitely lives up to the hype!!! My experience here was so satisfying! Me and my bf came around 7 pm and it was looking pretty crowded. But I guess since it was just the two of us it didn’t take long. We got seated within 15 minutes. The restaurant itself is pretty big with two sides.
THIS IS NOT AN AYCE KBBQ! You order what meat you want. But good thing they have set combos you can get. We got the beef combo. It comes in a small ($ 60) and large size ($ 100). A small can feed 2 people. It comes with brisket, short rib, prime rib and tofu soup. (You get to choose what meats and soup you want) it also comes with all the side dishes, corn cheese and egg! The waiters cook for you and each meat has its different grill! Everything was so tasty! The quality of the meat was SO GOOD! So much better than ayce meat! The meat that stood out to me the most was the seasoned prime boneless short ribs! OMG ITS A MUST!
The service and everything was amazing and I can’t wait to come back for more!
