Burger Island

Very poor customer service, arrived to place a large order at 10:57am for work. One of the orders was going to be a lunch special, was told I could not order that because it wasn’t 11:00am. Really, 3 minutes and was told no! Very unprofessional service. Will not be going back to this location, but that’s ok there are other places to go.

Best burger I have had in my life other than Au Cheval in Chicago which is different (bacon + egg). Ordered the Jungle Burger. The flavors were complex and the meat a perfect amount of juice; it melted in my mouth. Fries were solid, good seasoning. Excellent burger, excellent!
Other reviewers complain of the atmosphere which I agree with, but it fits the grease spoon vibe. They could improve the vibe with music /​sports center or something other than the news. Wouldn’t stop me from coming frequently.

Phone order, repeated 3 times to make sure it was correct. When we picked it up it was not correct and the man who was answering the phone and working there was rude Very rude. They we out of several food items, receipt tape as well as some soft drinks.

I visited on 12÷22÷15 for lunch… on a whim since I was in the area. I was really impressed with the burger. It was juicy and very tasty. Service was fine and the price was reasonable — $ 6.90 for burger/​fries/​drink. On the other hand I wasn’t so impressed with the physical establishment. It’s a hole-​in-​the-​wall kind of place. Some might even say it’s grungy. At least they had ESPN on the flat screen TVs. Bottom line is that carry-​out is probably the best way to go here.

Just a little quaint burger joint like so many but it has a great variety of burgers and friendly folks. These are huge burgers and reasonably priced. The sweet potato fries are very good as are the regular fries. This was our first visit and next time we are in the area we will most definitely stop again.

I used to eat here weekly, both delivery & dine in. The employees used to be awesome, friendly and food was delish. Sure the joint was more of a dive restaurant, but my family & I felt the food made up for those shortcomings. I posted my message I sent to the manager on FB which was clearly seen, however I never was contacted. Guess they didn’t want our business. We will never eat here again. Quick scenario
, I called in an order for delivery, a weekday, around 1 p.m. the employee who answered was very short & rude when he answered, but my thoughts are everyone’s entitled to a bad day right? I placed 2 orders for a jungle burger and chili cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and drinks. Now keep in mind I was a veteran at this place, never paid more than $ 15 for 2 meals. The guy repeated my order and said the total was $ 25and some change. I’m no mathematician, but that’s what I expect to pay at a nicer dine in burger joint. When I questioned why it was so much he ignored me & asked for my payment. I asked again why so much so I was placed on hold for a few minutes too long and by hold I mean the phone put down & I could hear a bunch of chatter. When he finally returned I gave my information and asked him to please give me a break down of the cost. He said it was the sweet potato fries that were so expensive so I told him to change it to regular fries. He stated it was too late, the food was already cooked. I said but we haven’t hung up the phone yet & I have the right to change my mind. He said no, he charged my card and the food would be delivered in 30 – 45 minutes, and hung up on me. I called back, asked to speak to a manager, he said he was him. I asked to cancel my order, he said I couldn’t and I told him I wouldn’t accept the food and I’d dispute the charge. He hung up again. I called my card company, and interestingly enough, he charged me 2x, not once. I disputed the charges once they posted & the food was never even attempted to be delivered. I tried to communicate with a manager via FB, but got 0 response so I am writing this review in hopes that nobody else is treated so unfairly & rude. Don’t go here, keep driving or order chinese! Love this place! I most especially love that they deliver to my work and can get our lunch there at a very specific time too. I’ve actually only eaten inside once. The portions are big so I usually order the kid version. Great burgers and fries!

0– Stars: My husband, daughter and I went to eat there for dinner. We were there 30 minutes before they closed and refused to serve us. They said it takes 10 minutes to get our food and they were closing and it was too late. I called the next day and asked to speak to the manager to let him know what had happened the day before. He was rude, ugly and didn’t care at all. I then called the Rowlett/​Rockwall location to find out if they are owned by the same people. The employee on the phone was super sweet. They said that they were not owned by the same people. They also said they got a call a couple days ago about the Sachse location that someone who worked there cussed out a customer. We had always gone to the Rowlett/​Rockwall Burger Island and have always loved it. We recently were so excited about our house move to Sachse and saw a Burger Island a mile away. We will make the drive to the Rowlett/​Rockwall location for their Jungle Burger and fried pickles. Having been in the restraunt business I refuse to give good business to ugly acting rude people.

It’s excellent for a cheap little burger place. It’s not like super clean or healthy or anything but if that’s what you’re expecting, you’re in the wrong place. Fries are pretty salty. Fried oyster was excellent. Burgers are decent. The best part is that they deliver !!
I’ve only been in the store once since I usually get it delivered. It was very empty. May have just been that day/​time.

Love the guacamole burger!!! Have to say the place isn’t very nice or clean nor sometimes good service, but that’s why I order out. One of the best burger places I’ve been to.

My wife and I went to this place for the first time tonight after driving by it hundreds of times. Glad we did! Honestly, I had the best turkey burger I’ve ever eaten. My wife had the grilled chicken sandwich and it too was exceptional. We split sweet potato fries, which I generally am not fond of, and they were perfect. The two sandwiches, fries and two cokes totaled just $ 17!
On the downside, the décor and overall feel of the place is kind of lame. But it is what it is… just a step up from a fast food place, so the décor isn’t too important, I suppose.
I definitely recommend Burger Island.

It’s a pretty good burger. I’ve always ordered for delivery until recently. I stopped in during lunch. My burger was awesome but I have to say the entire place needs a good cleaning. It’s had the smell of a nasty grease trap. Not too sure I’ll keep ordering after my visit.

Can’t help it, love the burgers. If you have not tried the wings do so. Bigger, better and cheaper than the wing place down the street.

Great burgers! And I love their tater tots. I wish they flame grilled their burgers though.

My son loves this place. He likes the milkshakes because they are made with BlueBell ice cream. We like the burgers the best and the rest of the menu is not too bad. Staff is friendly and prices are very reasonable. TVs are viewable pretty much anywhere you sit. My little boy loves the big booths, which have high sides that adds a little bit of privacy for your group.

Great stop for yummy burgers and tasty seasoned fries! You can call it in and take it to go.

Stopped here for lunch today and had the lunch special, bacon cheesburger, fries and drink. Very, very good. Burger was juicy, and cooked perfectly. Fries were delicious! Fresh cut fries!!! You don’t see those very often anymore and they were outstanding! Definitely recommend! Gonna try the onion rings next time.

I was not impressed by my recent visit to this location. The food was all very salty. The place is dirty. Half of the lights and TV’s were not turned on. The staff seemed friendly but unsure if what to do. There are unusual areas inside the restaurant that hide kitchen equipment or food items. I noticed during my meal that the back door to the business was open a lot. When I was finished eating, I drive around back. I am not sure what was happening but I posted a picture if what is outside the back door. Weird.
Maybe they do ok business because they deliver and you don’t see where the food comes from. I don’t think I would ever go back here.

I ate here once and really liked it, so I was great with going back.
Upon entering, everything looked so dirty. The booths, the tables, the floor. Well we were already there so let’s just try it.
We get out menus and within seconds were asked for our orders. «We need a few minutes, please.» It seemed like 30 seconds passed when we were asked for our orders again. After sending her away for the 2^nd time so we could study the menu, here comes some other waiter to ask for our orders. F-​it, we will order.
I asked for a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. My husband got talked into something I think called an Island burger and bacon cheese fries.
Our food comes out pretty fast with the exception of my fries. The same fries that this same waiter, in fact, clarified at least 6 times. «You want regular fries? Ok, so regular? Ok. Regular fries. Wait… regular?» When I mentioned they were missing he was like oh well we can cook you some. Dumbass! Why would i order them with the rest of the meal if i didn’t want them? I decided, just forget them and I’ll share my husband’s. He very nearly copped an attitude saying that they’d already started them. Not my problem, buddy.
I had half my food left when the check was brought out, so I asked for a to-​go container. The waiter promptly walked from our table to a table not two feet away to sit and talk with another worker for about 5 minutes. He finally got up and came back for the check and I had to remind him again for the box.
Then it happened… I visited the restroom. What a f-​ing disgusting excuse for a restaurant restroom. If the restroom was that fucked, I can’t imagine what the kitchen looked like. There were splatters of stuff on the wall around the toilet *gag*
Next time I go to a restaurant, I’m checking the bathroom first.
