My grandma is Korean and I was craving authentic. This place nailed it! My kid, however, was less than thrilled haha. Bringing snacks for him next time! The seafood pancake was sooooo good!

I’ve been looking for a place to eat Korean food, not Korean BBQ, and I’ve found it! This was my first visit ever and it was a pleasant experience. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Definitely coming back and I hope that my impression doesn’t change!

Watching Teresa(the wife) dash left and right, in and out of the kitchen constantly was my entertainment of the night. She’s energetic and positive toward her customers, and she tries really hard to treat all her customers fairly and in order of who came in first. I came here on a busy Saturday night packed with people. It’s a good idea to call in to ask when they close and what’s the wait time before heading there. It took 15 minutes to get a seat. While waiting, I only saw three people running the show(husband, wife, & busboy), all three of which were working their butts off cooking, serving, and cleaning. Our 11 banch’an came out an hour later :(Honestly I was a bit upset at this point b/c the table behind us, who arrived after us, got theirs first(don’t judge my whining, please understand, HANGRY is a serious condition!) Thank goodness, our bulgogi and beef tofu soup combo came out shortly after. *BTW, medium spicy is amazingly spicy* Bulgogi was average: flavorful, but a bit dry. Tofu soup was really good though. The tofu is baby soft, like cotton candy that melts in your mouth. The side dishes were delicious as well, especially the potato, broccoli, pickled cucumber, and fishcake. Overall, I had a positive experience with the food and service here.

Called ahead for dine– in because I had a soondubu craving and a limited lunch hour and they were very accomidating! Had it ready shortly after I arrived. I’ve been here a few times and the side dishes vary a bit. I prefered the kimchi soup over the mushroom, but I plan on exploring the menu a bit more.

Arrived to an empty Hankook Tofu House on a weekday night right before the dinner rush… I picked Hankook because it’s one of the few Korean restaurants in the area that I haven’t tried yet. It’s a very small spot: almost cafeteria-like…dull lighting, bland walls, a quiet TV in the corner. But our server was very nice and food came out right away. The menu is simple and straightforward. We went for the bulgogi combo — hot plate of bulgogi with a bowl of vegetable tofu soup. It came with one bowl of steamed rice, and a variety of eleven side dishes. We shared the one bulgogi combo order, but it was actually filling for both of us since we ate almost all of the banchan. If you’re not too hungry and you want to split with someone, then one combo order is the way to go. Only downside — I did see some tiny bugs flying around. it was about to be night time so they probably came in as people opened and closed the door. but still, a little unappetizing. I don’t know if I would come back here since there are so many other Korean restaurants in the area that I have tried and always return to, but I’m glad I tried this one out!

Third time here and I still love this place! My friend and I were greeted, seated, and given menus right when we walked in around 4:30PM. After about 20 minutes, we were given banchan and the waitress took our order. We decided to order a seafood tofu soup, an assorted tofu soup, and a kimchi fried rice. It all came around 40 minutes later because it was a full house. While my friend and I were chatting, the waitress checked up on us multiple times asking if everything was okay and if we needed anything. Around 7PM, the line was out the door and we asked for the check so that other people can sit and eat. When I went up to pay, the waitress kept saying thank you and was just very nice. Honestly, I always come here when I’m craving Korean tofu soup and I just love the environment and the people who work here. Everyone is so welcoming and so nice. I walk in craving tofu soup and I walk out satisfied and in a very happy mood. :)

This place is a cute little hole in the wall owned by a super cute couple. The owners are super nice and sweet. The husband takes orders and serves tables while the wife works in the kitchen. They offer a large amount of side dishes and and the owner would come around to refill it every time we finished something. The prices here are really affordable. We spent less than $ 40 for a party of 4 with drinks too. I’d definitely recommend this place. Worth the drive and the food is so good! 5⁄5 stars for food, service, and price!

First time tried. Great service & best Korean tofu soup(tried three different tofu soups: vegetable, mushroom, and none spicy) around Sacramento area. Bulgogi and dolsot bibimbob were very nice as well. Lots of small dishes and all taste very good including two different kinds of kimchee. Not a big restaurant, not for the big party nor atmosphere to drink. Personally, like here better then Oz, Yong dong, and Pine three. I suggest here to someone who really looking for nice taste of Korean food.

Wonderful little restaurant owned by extremely friendly and welcoming owners/staff. This restaurant is quite small in size compared to nearby Korean restaurants. However, maybe that’s what makes great food and service. The banchan(side dishes) are delicious! There’s a variety of vegetable side dishes, kim chi, potatoes, and more. I always order the spicy pork with soup combination(for the soup, I usually ask for Kim chi with pork). The combination is actually shareable between two people, especially with the banchan and rice. Note: Ordering the meat and soup combo means a smaller portion soup and a smaller portion meat. Definitely one of my favorite Korean restaurants.

Greatly enjoyed this place + easy parking lot =yay. We walked in and were greeted by an old man who made eye contact with us immediately. While I give it 5 stars, I’d like to point out the wait can be a bit much for some because there’s usually only one person on the floor. So the man working tonight was doing the checks, ordering, serving and drinks for all 7 tables. Even with the wait being a bit longer, I was very satisfied with the entire experience. It took a bit to get our order, but the food quality was wonderful. My mom got the hot bibimbap which had way more in it than the Elk Grove Tofu House which we used to frequent all the time. This place is exactly like the tofu house in EG, but the portions are way better and not stingy! The banchans we got were also amazing! So many and so much in them! I love japchae so much and was pleasantly surprised to see it as a side dish! I got the beef bulgogi as well as the kimchi soon tofu soup. One of the issues I can see about the soup is even on «medium» and not«spicy» it’s insanely spicy. I try to tone it down with water, but I’m no heat pansy and it can definitely make you choke. I enjoyed my beef bulgogi and thought my serving was good. Compared to Elk Grove’s tofu house the portions are far less stingy. Overall it was a really good experience. We chatted up with the man who was working and talked about how long they had been around and what not. He was very friendly and genuine to us which I appreciated. The food was great and we both had enough to take home for left overs. Definitely will return as a local. Lovely experience!

Once again, Unilocal has not let me down. Shared a wonderful(huge) lunch today. Service was as good as described in other reviews; the woman server was genuinely friendly and helpful. Two of us shared a really delicious Seafood Pajeon, along with Dolsot Bibimbap and Seafood Tofu Soup. We asked and were able to get the latter two with mixed rather than white rice(white and black rice, possibly with another kind, along with black beans), which for us made them all the better. There were ELEVEN Banchan dishes, all fresh and tasty, making it among the best I’ve had anywhere. The price was reasonable, though they also had some lunch specials which we haven’t tried yet which are downright cheap. We’ll definitely be back.

Came here on the way back from snowboarding, craving Korean food. Plenty of tables available and the owner was SO nice. He was so patient taking orders and always smiling, thumbs up to him! They gave us a variety of side dishes, and always offer to refill. We ended up ordering some combo of tofu soup and bibimbap, another combo tofu soup with short rib, and a seafood pancake. The Tofu soup was good, but a little spicy even at ‘mild’. The portions were a bit small, maybe because we ordered the combo. The short ribs are well seasoned and very tender, and the underlying onion soak up the juice from the meat, so delicious! Everything came out hot, like right off the stove, making them even more homey. The seafood pancake could be more crisp, and it is just a bit too floury, but there are LOTS of squid though. It is a 4 star because of the great meal and mostly importantly, the friendly service. We will definitely come back here if we are in the area!

We came here last night for the first time. This was a small mom and pop shop but the food was really good! This is also probably the best service I received at a Korean restaurant. The best part for me was they refilled our side dishes many times. The tofu soup was good but wish there was more tofu. Besides that, we had a great experience! Highly recommend to all!

Tried this place for the first time because I was craving korean food and it ended up being one of my new favorite korean restaurant in sac. I tried the seafood tofu soup and short rib combo and it was AMAZING. The soup wasn’t too spicy and it wasn’t too mild. It was just right and it came our sizzling. The side dishes were really good and it tasted fresh. The service was phenomenal. There was only one man working but he was very sweet and gave us great suggestions. He made sure the food was just right for us and continuously refilled out side dishes. I will definitely will be returning for the food and service!

Ordered dol-sot bibimbap combination(include tofu soup) here for dinner. And it was one of the best bibimbap I have ever had because there were lots of veggies on top and the veggies-rice ratio was perfect. The combination came with tofu soup. And the soft tofu was super soft and delicious. Only downside is my friend ordered extra spicy for their tofu soup but it wasn’t very spicy. But have to say the broth for tofu soup was delicious too. I’ve been to Mo Du Rang twice and comparatively Mo Du Rang has more Korean food options, and the Bachan(side dishes) are about the same for both restaurants. But i am definitely a fan of bibimbap and tofu soup in Hankook and will come back for it! Side stories: because we asked for more pancake as bachan and they are running out, we were lucky that they made fresh kimchi pancake for us cuz the first pancake bachan was kinda cold.

Probably one of my new favorite Korean spots. We were with our usual Korean food craving but tired of out usual spots. We found this place and boy was it a good decision! The lady, who I’m assuming is the owner, was super nice and friendly and greeted us right when we walked in. The place is small, but very clean and bright. Banchan here is awesome! I like the variety that they have and their broccoli is super good and I like that it doesn’t have the sauce on it but still manages to be flavorful. I got the seafood tofu soup, medium and it was perfect! It came out bubbling hot and just the right amount of spice. The only thing is that she didn’t give us any eggs but I don’t know if it’s because you have to ask for it and we just assumed it would come out. I definitely want to return.

No tires, but plenty of tofu! Actually we tried the bibimbap for lunch and enjoyed our meal. I had the hot stone version and man was that bowl superheated. I inadvertently brushed my arm against it a few times and was afraid I had a 3rd degree burn so be very careful! Luckily it wasn’t too bad and stopped hurting before I was done with my meal. The banchan was plentiful and the waitress asked me if I wanted more! It was a bit on the less salty side, but I think that is a healthier option for me anyways. Next time I want to try the bulgogi and if we get a cold day I want to try the tofu!

The girls and I were craving some Korean food and looked to Unilocal to find something close to home. We found Hankook Tofu House and after the raving reviews, decided we needed to give this a try. It’s a small place, but very clean. Good location, plenty of parking, but pay attention or you just might miss the turn. We were greeted immediately with a smile and the lady was even sweet enough to clean the high chair for my daughter before I put her in. They offer the infamous spicy tofu soups with your choice of meats, bibimbap(sizzling rice bowls with veggies and your choice of meat), their delicious arrays of bbq meats where you can choose beef, pork, or chicken, and endless delicious side dishes and rice. I got the combination tofu soup in medium which had a great kick and plenty of beef and seafood. It was delicious. Bubbling and piping hot, great flavor and I love the endless amounts of seafood in there. The side dishes are so great and the server was constantly checking up on us to make sure our dishes were full and we were satisfied. Great place, definitely will return to try other plates!

Reading all the Unilocal reviews, I do agree that this is one of the cleanest Asian restaurants I have been to. Located next a whole bunch of other Korean tofu house(like Mo Du Rang), this place has a lot of competition. I went on a Saturday night and didn’t have to wait in line.(Although we did went a little earlier than regular dinner time) There was only one waitress but she was very nice and friendly. She always refilled our side dishes and water without us asking. While I do think that this place should expand their menu to include more that just the regular(tofu soup, bibambap, grilled meats) to have other Korean entrees, their food quality is actually pretty good. I like that they have combination(soup + grilled meat or soup + bibambap) because I usually can’t decide what to get. We ended up getting a dolsot bibambap(stone bowl bibambap), regular bibambap combo, bulgogi combo, a spicy pork combo, and spicy rice cakes. The combination is really worth getting because not only do you get two entrees, it’s priced very reasonably. The grilled pork + beef tofu soup was only $ 15.99! Overall the food was pretty good; the only complaint was that the tofu soup was not that flavorful. The dolsot bibambap had a lot of ingredients in it and was fancier than other places. The spicy pork was also done really nicely. If you like rice cakes, I highly recommend the spicy rice cake. It comes in a big dish and the sauce was really good. Also, even towards the end of our meal when things were getting cold, the rice cake was still soft. The side dishes was also limited, but since it was a very clean environment and the food we got was really good, I rounded up and gave it 4 stars. Even though it doesn’t have a lot of dishes to choose from, I would still come back to Hankook for some basic but good quality Korean food.
