SODEPRESSEDTHATTHISPLACECLOSED, ESPECIALLYRIGHTBEFORESUMMER!!! T^T Kinda like a Korean Izakaya is the best way I could explain this place. A great place to drink and socialize with friends while enjoying yummy food that goes awesome with soju. The atmosphere was my favorite part of this place, totally chill. The owners were super nice, even gave us banchan when we were just drinking! Corn cheese was so so good! All the flavors of soju, I’ve tried them all at least once! Prices were the best of all Korean restaurant around the area. Though the service may have been detached or uninformed at times, I didn’t really care because they were sincere and I assumed it was a family business meaning family workers. Best part, THEYNEVERPRESSUREDUSTOLEAVEATCLOSINGTIME. They would even keep the open sign on until we left! I only came here with my good friends, that’s how much I liked it! My coworkers and I would joke about how much more like an Izakaya this place was then the restaurant we worked at that was supposed to be an Izakaya ahahah. Overall really sad to see this place go, lots of memories and I really really hope that the owners open up shop somewhere closer to downtown area. Then again, I’m moving to Davis if they’d like to follow me there! Goodbye Sulzip Ann, you’ll be missed!

This place was great too bad they are now closed! food was decent. drinks were kinda pricey but the atmosphere was legit. korean music videos 24/sev. the service was like any typical asian place. bad bad bad! but all the different types of food, how welcoming the owners were and just how much fun people had here made up for all of it. you will be missed. I swear this location is cursed. No business has stayed open for very long.

Our waitress was a sweetheart, which gives this restaurant one more star than it really deserves. On all other fronts, it failed. How this place got an average of 4 stars on Unilocal,I do not know. Service was really slow that day, which is due to the restaurant being manned by a total of two people. When we finished giving our order, our waitress warned us in advance that there would be a wait. We asked her how long the wait would be and she said she’d get back to us. After thinking she had forgotten about us, she came back and said the wait would be 15 minutes, which isn’t terribly bad, so we decided to wait. Well, 15 minutes went by, and we received our ban chan! Really? Throwing some pickled things on plates takes 15 minutes? And no, they weren’t worth the wait. Each individual ban chan was probably the worst I’ve ever had. The kim chi was especially lacking on all fronts, from flavor to texture. With the 4 star Unilocal average, I kept confident that we’d be pleasantly surprised by the dishes. First, the cheese corn dish came out, which was probably one of the best dishes of the night. Possibly because we were so hungry, we quickly devoured that dish. I regained my confidence and saw potential. The next dish was the seafood pancake. It was soggy, greasy, and generally unappetizing. I’ve been to many Korean restaurants, some good, some bad, but this was the worst seafood pancake I’ve ever had. Still, after waiting so long, we still ate it up. While waiting for our third dish, which was a beef tofu soup with a side of short rib, we decided we couldn’t wait any longer. By this time, we had been in the restaurant for nearly two hours! We called the waitress over and asked that if the next dishes weren’t started yet, to just cancel them because we needed to get going. She seemed very sad about this. Minutes later, the two dishes came out. The tofu stew was surprisingly good, with good balance of flavor. The short ribs were poor in comparison, again overly greasy with an unappetizing marinade. The waitress then handed us our check, canceled the remaining dishes, and comped us for our beer and corn cheese due to the long wait. +1 for this gesture to make things right. While I’m mentioning the beer, after I got through half the glass, I noticed a funny odor from the glass. It seemed to smell like dirty socks. Under closer inspection, it’s that same odor when you leave a dirty wet rag in a ball for a few days, which was all over my glass. My table then all smelled their glasses, and agreed. We felt sick at that point.

Finally found a Korean restaurant in the Sacramento area that is worth my patronage! Too bad it’s set to close down in a couple weeks… :( We came in on a Friday night, but I noticed the place was pretty empty. We were seated promptly by the extremely nice waiter(who was serving all the entire restaurant himself) and perused the menu. We ended up ordering waaaay too much food considering there were only two of us — or at least enough for the waiter to raise his eyebrows and jokingly question whether or not we could finish it all. We(almost) did — so HAH. Cheesy corn — Cheap! And delicious! It’s exactly what the name of the dish suggests. Cheese. And corn. Served on a hot plate, the gooey cheese combined with the sweet corn tasted something like heaven. Garlic Pork Belly — Decent, but not spectacular. We were told this was one of the most popular dishes, but I was not really too impressed. I would probably skip on this next time. Seafood Pancake — Yummy! Though honestly I’ve had better elsewhere. I’m also not a huge fan of the dipping sauce that comes with it. Still good though, and I would order it again. This thing is HUGE! We ended up taking half of it home. Casserole — my FAVORITE dish of the night! I don’t think many other Korean restaurants in the area serve this, and I’ve only had it at places in the bay area. It’s basically a bunch of simple ingredients(ramen, spam — i think, kimchee, rice cakes, etc) in a tasty red broth served in a large bowl with a ladle. You could probably make this at home if you wanted to, since the ingredients are so simple, but the broth is sooo scrumptious and addicting that I’ll pay the hefty price(~$ 22) for it at Sulzip Ann. This is a huge dish meant for sharing, so unless you’re a heavy eater, prepare to split this at least three ways. My dinner partner and I consumed every last drop ourselves though. Piggies. The service deserves a mention as well. Our waiter was super helpful and welcoming! He definitely made our dining experience here THAT much better. Thanks Sam! So sad this place is closing down :(

PLEASEDON’T CLOSEDOWN!!! I have been on a quest to find THE Korean restaurant in Sacramento and Sulzip Ann could possibly be it. Sam the waiter was very helpful and nice and had relayed the news to us that they were closing soon. I enjoyed the interior and atmosphere as much as I enjoyed the food. It gave off a lively and fun kind of feel. We ordered the Corn Cheese($ 2.95), Seafood Casserole, Pork Belly, and Seafood Pancake. The Corn Cheese was great! Not much to it, but for the price it’s very tasty. Korean bar food I’m told. You could tell the Pork Belly was quality meat, but it was a bit bland the way it was prepared. Eat them with the garlic cloves! The Seafood Pancake was also good, but not the best I’ve had. My favorite dish of the night was the Seafood Casserole. It was made with simple ingredients, but together it offered so much complexity. The broth was flavorful and delicious. I am sure it was the reason that the rest of our meal took a back seat. This dish feeds 2 to 3 people, so come hungry. I would come back to try other things and I think Sulzip would definitely do better if they promoted themselves more rather than strictly by word of mouth. I had never heard of it until recently and they have been for a couple of years apparently. Oh well… the journey continues…

Came here Saturday night around 7pm, had a Korean food craving that just couldn’t be ignored. On our quest to try different Korean restaurants, we stumbled here, just because the other two places we wanted to try were jam packed! When we arrived, there were only two other groups here. We thought the décor was cute, windows covered with signatures and favorite dishes of past customers. There are two TV sets playing K Pop music videos. Quite entertaining, the music was loud enough so that you can’t quite make out other diners’ conversations. We ordered the Dolsot Bibimbap(daughter’s fave) $ 8.95 and I ordered the Bulgogi/seafood tofu soup $ 13.95. The menu isn’t as extensive as other Korean places but we thought it was really inexpensive. When our food arrived, our server brought out 6 banchan dishes, I only liked two, the kimchi and sprouts, bummer, the macaroni salad was really sweet, crab cakes with Sriracha sauce, looked dated. Now for our meal, the Bulgogi, ehhh, I would give one star. The tofu soup was good, the broth was really flavorful. Daughter ate all of her Bibimbap, so it must’ve been good. Our waitress, was fairly young, maybe she’s new at her job because we waited a good amount of time after we got our food for her to bring out silverware. On top of that, no napkins, so we grabbed them from another table. She wasn’t really attentive to any of the tables, I noticed that other diners had to flag her down in order to get something filled or get their checks. Couldn’t quite figure it out because the place wasn’t that busy. Wish I could’ve given a higher rating but I don’t find myself returning here anytime soon.

I came here on a Saturday night thinking I would have a great dinner and a good time. Quite the opposite. We ordered the ddukbokki– insanely SWEET. WTF is this– a monstrosity to our freaking ancestors. Ddukbokki should be spicy, hot, and flavorful. The amount of sugar they put in this was disgusting. We couldn’t even eat it after one bite. Such a waste of money. We got the fried chicken — can’t really eff this one up. I got the bibimbap(also an easy dish that you cannot eff up, but they did!) There were so little veggies in my dish and it was basically just rice with a SWEET gochujang sauce. What the heck is this place with their fetish for overly sweet dishes. We also got the kiwi soju which was of course severely diluted so none of us got buzzed but we expected that. The waitress was extremely unattentive– always texting on her phone, at one point she brought a friend and just chatted with her throughout the night. Do not come here with high expectations.

I came to Sulzip when I was in Davis with some friends. The place was kind of hard to find… but I’m glad I got to try it! My friends and I ordered Seafood Pancake, BBQ Fire Squid, Silkworm Soup, and Mango Soju. When we asked for the Silkworms, the waitress didn’t know what it was until we showed her a picture of it. And even though the silkworms were gross… I’m just not a fan of bugs. Honestly though, they were rather bland. I was expecting more flavor in the soup the silkworms came in, but it didn’t taste like much. The silkworms kind of tasted like beans, but I just couldn’t stand the idea of eating bugs. It was pretty cheap though, like $ 4 or $ 5, so if you really wanted to try it, it’s not a bad price! The Seafood Pancake was good! One of my favoriteeee Korean dishes! The inside was doughy and the outside was crunchy, which I thought was a good balance. I like a little bit of both. The BBQ Fire Squid was SPICY. But a good kind of spicy. It was really good with rice! And the Mango Soju wasn’t too strong in alcohol, so there was a strong mango flavor. I liked it! :) Plus it came in a cool jug. Haha. The only issue we ran into was that when my friend paid with her credit card up front, the cashier/waitress forgot to give her the credit card back. But no big deal, we remembered while we were in the parking lot! Total was $ 14 each, so not too bad for the amount of food and drinks we got! The place was nice and they played popular Korean songs(some old ones too) and there were TV screens as well. The seats were booths, so they were nice and comfy.

My friends and I love coming to Sulzip when we’re looking for a fun night just chillin(no club, no bars, no busy downtown streets). We get rounds after rounds of soju bombs and pitchers of flavored soju along with«soju food»(as opposed to beer food!). Their creamy corn is so simple, yet so tasty! Everything we’ve had was enjoyable. The wait staff are also very friendly and prompt, the owner is so accommodating! They open late so we get to drink enough to get rowdy and we always end the night right. The only con is that they’re located in Rancho and we’re in Elk Grove. However, it’s worth the drive! We even bring our friends when they come from out of town because their closed off seating areas/booths make the ambiance very intimate with just enough privacy.

Sulzip Ann is a cool name! I always wanted to try this place because i see my friends check in here all the time. When i finally got to try this place, i thought it was just okay. Wasn’t tasty and wasn’t bad, just plain o’le a-okay. Here’s what we tried: –Spicy Chicken: It was pretty good, not bad. –Pork tofu soup: I didn’t really like this soup, i kind of thought it tasted like ramen from the packages. — Beef Do bo ki: this dish was actually pretty good, my friends and i probably enjoyed this dish the best. — Bo Go ki: This dish was okay, taste like any other bo go ki dishes. — Cold red noodles? Sorry i forgot what this dish was called, but it was a red dish, that had cold noodles. I didnt enjoy this dish at all. To sum it up, service was very friendly and nice, but short staffed, food came out a bit slow, menus here were very limited, and food was a-ok. It wasn’t the best korean food i’ve tried, but it was descent.

My friends and I always come here for drinks, food, and more drinks. It’s the perfect spot to hang out over good food, and they are always willing to accomodate for big groups. The owners and servers are friendly, the food comes out fast, and the corn cheese is bomb! I’ve tried a good amount of dishes on their menu and I’ve yet to be disappointed. I even left my keys there on accident during one of our late night eat/drink escapades and one of my friends knew the owner and he came back to reopen the restaurant for me so I could get them. :O thank you if you’re reading this! And it’s(kind-of) walking distance to rurulala karaōke, which is always a tempting option after you have some drinks in you(;

My friend wanted to come here because she saw pictures on Unilocal of silkworms and was super curious about how they would taste. I told her that I’ve had them in Vietnam before and they’re actually delicious. So yeppp we just had to come here with our other friend visiting from Fremont. The place was easy to find and I liked how the booths were set up so you feel like you’re in a room with just your party. It made it seem very private yet the waitress could still easily spot us if we need anything. The service was pretty good because she was attentive except for when she forgot to give me back my credit card at the end –______-. But good thing my friend asked if I got my credit card back! Haha but those situations usually make me laugh so no points docked down from that. We ordered the fire bbq squid(I think it was bbq, I forgot :[), seafood pancake, and the silkworms. They even gave us a complimentary soup. I tried a bit of the soup but it was sort of bland. The squid was really delicious actually, it was super super spicy just like how the name described it. I enjoyed every bite, mmmmmmm. The seafood pancake was pretty delicious too. It was crunchy on the edges and then doughy towards the middle. My friends really enjoyed the doughiness but I really preferred if it was crunchy all around. However, the seafood pancake was still delicious to me. Then the silkworms… it was most definitely not as satisfying as the fried ones from Vietnam. One of my friends got grossed out and just stopped eating it and put the bowl on the other side of the table so that she could not see it anymore. I was able to eat it but only with a lot of rice because it was really bland and just not what I expected. I really really liked the fried ones my aunt makes in Vietnam so I was super disappointed that this was not as delicious. Oh well, now I know that fried is always better than boil(but I’m not sure if that’s healthy… haha). We also ordered mango soju and I was expecting to dislike it because I do not like any form of alcohol at all. However, It tasted more like mango than anything so I was able to take the shots that my friends were taking. It sure did make me turn into a tomato though but it was okaaay because my friends were entertained with my tipsiness after. Sulzip Ann is pretty delicious and I would probably come back if I was craving Korean and somewhere in Sacramento.

Came here after a dissapointing service at Pinetree House. I can honestly say that this is my new favorite spot. The service was great and the food came out fast for a group of 8. I got the bi bim bap with bulgogi, while my bf got the tofue soup. They were a little skimpy with the meat on on both dishes, but the taste of the food itself makes up for it.

Came to Sulzip Ann hungry and left here hungry. I was here with a small group(approximately 8 – 9 people), at about 6:30 and there was only one overworked and sweaty guy taking every order and running the food back and forth. Before feeling bad for the guy, there were only two other parties in the restaurant and they were tables of 2. So with three parties, they managed to mess up our order and my food just never came. The creamed corn came out a cheesy, mayo-ey mess, and while everyone else got their food, my seafood pancake, and bibimbob did not. After reminding them twice and standing up to walk out, they brought the pancake but the bibimbob never came. They did not charge us for the pancake but we just told them to forget about the bibimbob. I’ve heard much about this place, but the corn and what little of the pancake I had was not very good either. I would not recommend coming back.

Came here last year and loved it. However, they seemed to have changed the menu, got rid of their BOGO deals and lost their good service. Food has become mediocre compared to the other Korean restaurants in the area. Came here the other week with a large party, but there were only a few other tables that were occupied. Our orders took forever to come out(helped that we were drinking a lot) and some orders actually never came out. Normally when we have such a big party with lots of orders, we get«service’ as well. But since we were missing a few dishes and since the waiter was constantly busy. We were neither given service, nor wished to ask for it. Really hard to want to come back after this experince. But guess we’ll see.

Looking for a place to eat, drink, and listen to Kpop? Check out Sulzip Ann. Our friends found this place last year and I was skeptical about it. As they explained it, it sounded like a gangsta lounge and was unsure about it. However, it is nothing like that. You can get your fill on Soju and Korean beer all night long. The staffs are super friendly and always keep the drinks coming. One thing that I love at this place is the cheese corn, OMG, it is amazing. Try that with the fried shrimp chips and you will not be disappointed. For a night filled with food and drinks, it usually cost about $ 20 a person including tip, which is dirt cheap taking into consideration that would be only 2 drinks in downtown. It is in the middle of nowhere on Folsom Blvd. and I would recommend hanging outside by yourself because it is kind of sketchy. Overall, we always have fun here and hope you will too. 4 star! Enjoy!

Sulzip is one of those Korean food & drink bar. All the food that I sampled was just OK. Nothing to rave about. And the food menu was dirty– had sauce on it. eekk. Ordered: _Earthern pot spicy ricecake: It was filled with chewy rice cakes(dduk), fish cakes, cellaphane noodles, and two gyozas on top. I love rice cakes, so when I saw the rice cakes filled up to the rim of the clay pot, my mouth began to water. Unfortunately, it didn’t taste as good as it looked. The broth that was used was way to sweet. Sweet chewy-rice cakes does’t sound appealing to me. _Fried chicken wings: I love Korean fried chicken(yangnyeom tongdak). This was not the Korean fried chicken that is first fried then shaken up in a sweet, sour, and spicy sauce. It literally was just fried chicken wings that came with a house special sauce on the side. _Bul-go-gi soup: It had bulgogi with cellaphane(glass) noodles. It was quite tasty. The overall dish was pretty oily though. _Soondubu: flavorful. It had a mild-med spicyness to it. It was kind of odd how they waiter didn’t ask how spicy we wanted the tofu soup. NOTE: –HAPPYHOUR: 5−9pm Buy 1 get 1 free(for beer & soju) –takes credit card, splits check

I visited Sulzip Ann on a Saturday night, around 8:00 p.m. There were only two other groups there, but the loud Korean pop music in the background made it seem lively. The four of us were quickly seated at a booth and given two menus(I don’t know why we didn’t get four menus, but sharing is fine.) The hostess/waitress asked us if we had any questions about the menu. We asked what the Sulzip Special was(listed at $ 19.99) and she said that«it’s changing, fried chicken, katsu,…» I figured it was a daily special, but she didn’t really answer our question. We wanted to know the special of that night. Oh well. We ended up ordering: –Side dishes(free): five sides that weren’t as good as others I’ve had at other Korean restaurants. Kim chi, shredded lettuce, spiced daikon, dehydrated little fish, spicy potato-like dish. My sister liked the daikon, but the others were just okay. –Corn cheese($ 2.95): Buttery, sweet corn topped with cheesiness. Simple and tasty. –Seafood pancake($ 5.95): This is the cheapest I’ve ever seen a seafood pancake for, and for the price, it’s worth it. It seems like they’re usually about $ 15. This seafood pancake is significantly smaller, but still big enough to share. There isn’t as much seafood as others I’ve had, but still pretty good. I wish that it were crispier though. –BBQ Pork($ 14.95): They used small pieces of pork and it seemed to be stir-fried with some vegetable/herb that we were unfamiliar with. This was okay, we didn’t really like the flavor of it. –Fried chicken($ 14.95): A generous portion of 14 drumsticks/wings. Very crispy and freshly fried. The spices in the batter were good and the chicken was cooked perfectly, very moist, yet thoroughly cooked. My boyfriend really enjoyed this dish. –Beef tofu soup($ 8.95): The soup was very flavorful and there was a nice balance of beef, tofu, and onions. It was moderately spicy and was tasty over the white rice. This may have been my favorite dish. –White rice($ 2): I always feel weird about places charging for white rice. Eh. –Kiwi Soju($ 8.95): very sweet and easy to drink. It was kind of fun to have this fruity drink with our meal. They have many different flavors. Overall, the food is decent and the prices are fair. I didn’t like that the food came out at different times, with our rice coming out several minutes after our first couple dishes. It’s kind of out-of-the-way for me, so I’m not sure when I’ll be back. But it’s worth a try, for those in the area. Notes: –It’s next to a dispensary. –The bathroom was really dirty(ambiguous puddles on the floor).

Sulzip Ann translates to «back of the bar» or something like that. Banchan(side dishes) — I didn’t like any of them. Corn cheese($ 2.95) — The reason why I wanted to come here. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. I’m definitely going to make some of my own! Seafood Pancake($ 5.95) — The only seafood I spotted was squid. It was a good appetizer but I wish it was a little crispier. Seafood Tofu Soup($ 8.95) — A generous helping of spicy broth. Service was ok. I feel like they are still in the learning process. I had to ask for napkins when I feel like they should give that to you automatically. My friend ordered a spicy noodle dish but they said they had to redo her order because it didn’t taste right. While I’m glad they didn’t give her inedible food, she was very hungry by the time her food finally arrived. There are a lot of Korean establishments in this area. There weren’t too many diners when I went, so hopefully they will be able to make it.

Looking to find a late night kick it spot that has good food and reasonable prices for drinks this is the spot Overview I’ve been to this spot about two times now and I love this place the food here is good and the service is excellent. When I went here the last time I had a group of 9 friends. We ordered 12 beers(Hite), 4 bottles of soju and about 5 plates of food and the bill was just 116.00. I definitely recommend this place to anyone. Recommendation Ddukbokki(Spicy rice cake and fish cake) and lots of Hite Beer
