Nice play to hang out for coffee and meals! They should allow people hang out and smoking!

The secret is out — Wonder Café is the best place for banh mi xiu ma(Vietnamese meatball sandwiches)! One sandwich is $ 3, but go ahead and add an extra meatball for $ 2 more, it’s definitely worth it! The bread is nice and toasted, the veggies are crisp and fresh, and the meatball just melts in your mouth. I usually ask for the extra meatballs on the side so I can dip my sandwich in the gravy/sauce that it comes with. I don’t have much to say about the other food. Pretty typical Vietnamese fare. The bar foods are good but a bit expensive as compared to other restaurants in the area(about $ 13 each). My advice: come for the sandwiches.

This is your typical Vietnamese coffee shop. Mainly people chill outside and drink coffee. I come here with my BF and he usually orders for me. Coffee with milk, red bull, or coconut shake are all great! Sit out in the front. Smoke. Drink… But when you come here to eat, the best thing I think on the menu is the fried fish with rice. I’m not really a fish eater but damn. It’s bomb! My BF likes the beef stew. It’s ok for me. Kinda bland but the bread is yummy!

Ordered the lemongrass chicken w/«burned» rice(clay pot rice) I liked it! And the service was great! Owner/manager(male, early 30’s) was very accommodating. Sounds like a club in here, loud music, karaōke if you want it, ladies in *ahem* hostess outfits, lots of fun and an outgoing environment. During the day it’s a regular dining establishment, late night it’s an amazing kickit spot! Bring your friends, some cards, dominos lol whatever! Drinking games all around Reminds me of a lot of the«clubs» in southern China xo(I would assume like Vietnam, but I havent been there yet to draw a comparison lol) Will def return when I’m in the area :)

It doesnt compare to the places I’ve been in SJ or OC, but good enough for me in Sac. Being non-asian, I learn how to get comfortable in places like these, no matter what type of crowd comes in. I just go to have some drinks, some food, and have a good time. I had a good time here. Got there around 10pm & place was pretty dead for a Sat night. But from what I hear, ppl dont usually start showing up until 11pm or after. Which is fine with me since I dont like staying out too late(best to stay out of trouble). The waitress that served us was friendly, nice and talkative. It’s a coffee shop by day & bar w/night menu in the evenings. Place serves heinekens & coronas, typical dishes to share, & if people request, they play karaōke for you to sing. Only thing is that music can get pretty loud to where u cant hear the person next to you, even if they’re yelling in your ear. But if you ask politely, they will turn it down a bit. For those who think it’s a café place like Tapioca Express or Quick Ly, it’s not & you probably wont like it or feel comfortable in there. But it’s good enough for me, I like it!

Came here to hang out with some buddies while in Sacramento. A few things: 1. Beer was really cheap — I think it’s $ 3 a bottle of beer 2. Food was pretty good — We got dry squid and chicken tendons. Very good«nhau» food [drinking food]. 3. Karaōke available. Despite only hearing Vietnamese music, they also have English songs. I sang«I Swear» by All 4 One. 4. Service was good. Nice and friendly waitresses. I’d definitely come back if I had the chance.

Staff isn’t too bad, it’s the owners I’m concerned about and the type of place they’re trying to run this business into. Came here because my brother said their Chao Long was good(I’m not a fan so I didn’t order it) and I ordered their Bun Bo Hue. Honestly, it was good. Being the same owners and chefs of Co Do restaurant, also in Sacramento, they’re known for their good Bun Bo Hue. But as soon as I walked in I felt unsafe and out of place. There was a table of women sitting around playing cards and cussing in Vietnamese with such foul, while drinking beer and their boyfriends or husbands playing Candy Crush on their phones. What disgusted me more was the fact that it was such a bad environment to be in especially when one of the women was huge and pregnant. SMH. After seeing how one of guys treated the staff, I could tell he was probably the owner’s son watching over the place for the weekend. He was very disrespectful and snobby. It was hard to swallow down much of my food. Did not like the environment at all, especially those irresponsible women. Would only come back here if I had no choice on where to go with my family etc.

Chicken tendon with fish sauce. Rare done beef with lime salad. Fried chicken wings with fish sauce. Lau thai. and a bucket of Heineken. What is not to love about this place? Good music, karaōke and drunk friends = moments I live for! Thanks Wonder Café!

Formerly Tango Café. Coffee is the same. I only come here for the coffee. I really need to try the food. Went there one day and everyone seems to order the beef stew. I did try one of their banh mi sandwiches. It was okay.

I don’t know how this place has such bad reviews because I actually really enjoyed the food and service. I tried the lemongrass chicken and it was very flavored and the chicken was very tender. My boyfriend tried the hu tieu and the broth was light and flavored as well. The service was decent considering that majority of most Vietnamese restaurants have horrible service. I would definitely go back.

From a culinary students review i’d give the food about 3 out of 10. My teacher told me that us students have a very good mouth compared to most. also the service was crap. I mean did they even consider even refilling our drinks? in costumer service we were tough to go back to every table every so often(even if we were busy). I mean I had eaten in many places and never had to use Unilocal, but I had to warn everyone. I had to use a lot excuse me A LOT of condiments. In the food industry we, the customer, shouldn’t have to add a lot to make it taste better(it should taste good in the beginning). Wonder Café should really look at how much they have to replace because, think about it, if i have to make it taste way better then need be then why should i eat it? To a student of the culinary arts i don’t mean to talk trash but, we make better food with leftovers. I grew up with Vietnamese food my whole life and I had better Bun Bo Hue in the country side of Vietnam. In all respects i guess they do try. Well it might just be a young chef’s mouth just tasting something that was made better in the country’s side of Vietnam where they aren’t sanitary nor have half of what we have here but, it could be me.

I haven’t been here yet but I have witnessed the hostile reaction the owner has to bad reviews. I’m not here to cause drama but I wanted to make everyone aware what kind of person is running this establishment. He has written threatening messages to people, messages that threaten the individual who wrote the review, her family and their business. I don’t often write reviews but I found this person’s behavior disgusting and wanted to warn people of the kind of business owner they are supporting by going to this location. Even if this place had the best food(which I’ve heard it does not), I wouldn’t eat here if it were free. Consider this a public service announcement.

Trying to find a new Vietnamese restaurant that compares to Huong Lang, but with better customer service, but was disappointed. Over priced and food was ok. I order the roasted chicken and their was nothing roasted about it. It was deep fried. Egg rolls were small and over cooked. Flies on tables and on my children. As another reviewer states lots of older gentlemen hanging out. However, they coffee smelled great! Not a place where I would go to again.

I tried out this place recently with one of my girl friend. Immediately upon entering, I was already uncomfortable. This is obviously one of those place where there are just mainly older Vietnamese guys hanging out. I felt awkward just walking past them to the entrance door of the restaurant. We seated ourselves and were handed the menu shortly. I can see that there are pretty limited options. My friend ordered Bun Bo Hue, and I ordered Hu Tieu Nam Vang. When the food arrived, right away, I was disappointed with mine. The broth already looked like it would be bland. And it was. I started pouring in the fish sauce, big scoops of chili oil, loads of crushed peppers, Hoison sauce, and Red Rooster hot sauce into the concoction. I’m supposed to be enjoying my food. So why did I feel like I was cooking it??? Not to mention, they were quite stingy with the meat. …AND left me thirstaaaaaay. Nobody bothered to refill the water. The atmosphere here, like what I’ve said before, felt weird for me personally. I was just very out of place here. My friend and I haven’t seen each other for a while and being girls, naturally, we had a ton of things to talk about. So it did not help the way Wonder Café would crank up their music SUDDENLY, not only scaring the living hell out of me, but made conversing with my friend very difficult for we had to shout in order to hear one another. Probably would’ve been made easier if my throat wasn’t so dry from being dehydrated. We ended up just cutting it short and left as soon as I was done eating. My friend had already given up on her bowl after a few bites at the beginning, claiming that it was gross. If I were to come back, it would be during the daytime. I hear it’s much more calm. And I’ll of course be trying something completely different.

This location used to be the old«Tango Café» but now renovated and under new management. Still serving coffee, along with the addition of beer, wine, Vietnamese food, and karaōke!!! The manager is super sweet an awesome, was very attentive to my table… the beer and wine was constantly replenish without having to wait. I call that superb service!!! OMG… the food so super bomb, had everything from hot pot, deep friend frog legs, to various Vietnamese salads!!! The food was well seasoned, not too salty or bland, I am super picky with Vietnamese food since I have parents that can cook well. So, I am very happy that the food fit well with my taste buds! ^_^ If you are looking for a nice place to drink, sing, and eat with friends, Wonder Café & Restaurant will not disappoint you!!! You can actually talk to the owner about hosting parties, just give the owner 1 – 2 weeks advance noticed. I am for sure coming back, especially for the«bo tai salad» english(raw steak salad) yum!!!
