Our experience at Foolish Frog was outstanding. Everyone from the owner, to the waitress, and the hostess took excellent care of us. Spinach strawberry salad with bacon, bleu cheese and homemade vinaigrette was super. We had one-of-a-kind fried okra, smoked ribs with potato wedges and slaw, calamari, mahi mahi with crawfish and fried grit cake, and more. Every bit delicious. Homemade desserts too. We couldn’t have been more impressed. We walked in at 6 on a Friday without reservations as a party of 10. They were very accommodating and gave us the perfect spot outside with a beautiful view of the marsh within a couple of minutes. If you can, I would recommend reservations.

Party of 7-called ahead for reservation-friendly and accommodating. We sat outside live music, not too loud though, very easy to still converse. Our waitress was great! One of the staff also from Ohio made a point to come by and say hello! Our food was very good, boiled crab, stuffed flounder, fish tacos, steak, crab cakes, and jerk chicken. Lots of variety. The seafood soup/bisque and fried pickles and calamari were exceptional. Our reservation was at 7pm and the place filled up directly after. I would recommend and go back! Not too far off the island and not a big place but well worth the trip! We will be back!

OVERPRICED! We came in, it was packed so we sat at the bar… Looked at the menu and nearly choked on my water. Very expensive, be prepared to spend some money when you come here… Staff were very kind, Chanelle(bar tender) is very kind and helpful, knows her stuff. But we’re heading to Dockside(example: ½ dozen half shell oysters at Frog are $ 12.00… At Dockside ½ dozen oysters are $ 7.95.)

I had the nightly special of grilled wahoo with red rice asparagus and homeade mango guacamole. It was fantastic. They included some homeade tortilla chips and it was the perfect bite with everything on the chip. My husband got a ½ pound of peel and eat shrimp and a salad. He was still hungry after his meal so he ordered the mussels appetizer. Everything was right on point. The cocktail sauce for the shrimp had just the right amount of kick to it. We will definitely be back. It was great to sit out on the deck with high tide rolling in. The only downside is the lack of parking.

Pros– excellent service, great views! Cons– the«happy hour» price on domestic draft was $ 5?!? Also, they said the bleu cheese dressing was homemade, it wasn’t. Also we ordered the Calamari(which was delish) and it was to be served with pepperonci and it wasn’t. Overall– one of the better Tourist Traps.

Pros: — Excellent service — Great atmosphere — Excellent Mahi Mahi dish — Excellent fried green tomatoes — Excellent cracked okra — Half rack of ribs was very close to a plate size: good taste — Shrimp Saga Bleu was pretty good — Fantastic view of the marsh Con: — Mixed drinks not uniformly made: first glass of frog water was delicious then became less tasteful the second glass — Swordfish had a much smaller portion than expected: not worth the price — very similar to porkchop size. Overall good food, service and atmosphere. I would be back but others in my party felt differently(they had the swordfish). We went for dinner, lunch may be a different story.

The host seated us at a dirty table so he went to get a wet cloth to wipe the table. He dropped the wet cloth on the floor and started wiping our table with that wet cloth! Needless to say, we left immediately!

Be sure to sit on the patio, the view is wonderful! Ask for Jennifer, she has an amazing personality & is super friendly, enjoyed chatting with her. The Swimp & Grits and Crème Brule’ were delicious. I will definately be stopping by again before I leave the area.

Complete disaster. We left after an hour wait for dinner in a not-at-capacity restaurant. We have been here 3 times for dinner and once for brunch over two years time. We keep a boat nearby. Greeting was fine. Drinks, bread, order taken — then fell into a black hole. When a food runner came by we asked her to check on dinner. We had ordered the two specials. Our server never apologized or explained. I now have heard they have new owners and the locals say that things are inconsistent. Too bad. It used to be reliable. The party of 7 seated later than we were had began getting plates– 3 out of the 7 and then they sat awkwardly. We decided an hour was enough. Total waste of time.

Our server Chris was the best. Very attentive and made good recommendations. The bucket of oysters were very juicy and more than enough for 2. The Frogmore platter was again enough for 2. I have to warn you though, it tends to be spicy for the tender tongues. Since I love spicy, it was perfect. Can’t say anything bad. Okay, it was a little bit pricey but for special occasions it’s worth it. If you get the chance, come and eat here.

We stopped on our way through the area and came here on the recommendation of a local. The name seems stupid until you find that it’s in the village of Frogmore. We had a soft shell crab basket with french fries, a crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries, and fried okra. The food was good but not exceptional. The coleslaw had too much onion. Our favorite thing was the okra and the accompanying hush puppies. Be forewarned that a lunch like this is pretty greasy since most of it is deep fried. Service was great and waiting time reasonable. Our server, Maddie, probably won’t be here if you stop in because she’s going back to college. We ate outside and the«view» is a large marsh.

Yum Yum Ya Ya was very flavorful. Frog legs had a nice breading and very moist. The oysters were good as well. The shrimp and blue cheese pasta dish was very rich and a little too strong with the blue cheese. Would not recommend as a main course item but very nice compliment to share at the table. Chris our waiter did a great job. Very friendly, helpful and prompt. The pecan pie was not one of favorite pecan pies but definitely seemed homemade. Really wanted to try the key lime pie but they were sold out.

Mediocre-to-bad service. Our server seemed pretty indifferent to us, and neither refilled our drinks nor checked to see how our food was. If she had, this is what we would have told her: We love shrimp po’boys, and theirs are terrible. Dry, playdough-tasting shrimp, stale bread(actually stale!), no sauce of any kind on the sandwich. I have always heard great things about this place, and was really disappointed! Did we just go on a really off-day? Saturday afternoon must not be the time to go? One positive thing: great view.

Great customer service! Great stop in Beaufort to grab a bite to eat. The parking is a little tight is the only downfall. Order the Mahi BLT when you come here.

Well I have decided to increase my stars for this place. I’ve been here twice in the last 2 months. The food has been much better and also our service has been wonderful. I had the shrimp basket today and it was a good tasty meal for $ 10. Apparently they must have a new manager. There were 6 people in our party, and we all enjoyed our lunch. We will be back!

Foolish not to go! I was told that I HAD to stop by the Foolish Frog while I was in the area. I was told it would be the friendliest experience I would have — well, they were right and the food was pretty good too!!! We pull into the parking area for the Foolish Frog and as we are walking to the establishment the front door open and a man looks out and asks if we’ll be needing a high chair and a booster seat to go with our party — we did. We go inside and he introduces himself as Thad, the manager(owner??). He greets us and made us feel at home immediately. Even though this is a restaurant, you feel like you’re eating at you Grandma’s house at the kitchen table. There’s good conversation, EVERYBODY spoke, laughter and good food. Our server was Tara-Shawn. If she can’t make you feel at home then you must be an orphan. Now, to the food. We started with the oysters and the Lima bean soup. The soup was excellent. I would rate the oyster appetizer a B+. Not mad I got it at all, but we came for the baskets and that put the app to shame! So, on to said baskets! My mom and wife got the shrimp baskets and my 3 year old got the fish sticks and I got the combo(shrimp and oysters) Po boy. In reverse order: the Po boy made me forget about the app oysters. So friggin’ fresh and tasty! I know that they get the seafood that morning from the boat(not the market, the boat) and you can tell. I’d get that 100 times out of a hundred. The fish sticks were, no lie, the best I have ever had. Very flakey, lots of flavor, just the right amount of batter seasoned deliciously. Could eat that every time as well. And, the shrimp baskets. Like I said, so fresh that you can’t help but enjoy the taste and preparation of them. You may think a fried shrimp is a fried shrimp, but I disagree and think you would too after you ate there. There was a good amount in each basket as well. Here’s the kicker, dessert. We really were not going to have anything but Tara-Shawn talked us into trying HER«famous» family recipe of Chocolate Coca~Cola cake(so secret she makes it herself). ITWASTODIEFOR!!! So good. The best way to cap off a great lunch. When you’re around you need to go and enjoy yourself, we did. See you next time we are in town. In fact, every time we are in town!

We have eaten here before and knew they were dog friendly… with dog in tow, we stopped for lunch. When we arrived we were promptly seated at an outdoor table. The view of the marsh is nice and the warm December temps this year made it a perfect day. The waitress brought out a bowl of water for the dog as she greeted us. She quickly brought our drink orders and spent time assigning us with our orders. I had the Mahi-mahi Po Boy. The bread was fresh and the fish was perfectly cooked. The sweet potato fries were perfect. My only comment… there could have been a bit more fish in the bun. It was adequate, but I would have liked a little more. It was great! If you find your self in the neighborhood or on your way to Fripp Island, stop by for a really nice meal and very friendly service.

We stumbled upon this gem, read the reviews but decided to take a chance. So glad we did. The staff was great, accommodated our needs. Our good came out quickly and was very good. The only thing that could have been better is if the ribs were a little more tender. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the fall evening. Ignore the reviews and judge this place for yourself. I doubt you will be disappointed!
