My friends and I came here for brunch today because we heard about the $ 14 bottomless mimosas and delicious drop biscuits. The restaurant wasn’t super busy so we would’ve probably been fine without a reservation. We were seated promptly, I ordered the unlimited mimosas, and within 2 minutes our server came back with our drinks. I would like to give a shout-out to our server Francesca because she made sure that I always had a full champagne flute of mimosa in front of me. 5⁄5 star service! Unfortunately I can only give Herbie’s 3 stars because we waited very, very long for our food. The drop biscuits looked a little burnt and were cold by the time they arrived at our table. The biscuits were still savory and you could really taste the cheddar and chive, but I was really looking forward to a soft, warm biscuit. I also ordered the French pancake du jour(blackberry compote), which is basically a pancake on steroids. It was super thick and served on a hot skillet. The pancake was a bit sweet for my liking and I struggled to eat more than half of the dish. I expected the pancake to be fluffier but it ended up being pretty dense. I am not going to rule out future brunch dates at Herbie’s because of one mediocre/bad experience. I would like to come back and order different brunch items or try dinner here. Hopefully it won’t take forever for us to get our food next time.

Food gets 5 stars! However, the service by our waiter was only a 3, and that’s because we saw him only 3 times. The busser was much more attentive to our needs, so we gave him a portion of the server’s tip. I will go back because the food was great! It was a Saturday for brunch. Everyone at our table tried something different – drop biscuits(3) served with jam and gravy, skillet, veggie Benedict, and breakfast Reuben. The Bloody Mary bar included just about every ingredient you could need.

Someone once asked me why do I give five stars to some restaurants and lower stars to others. The restaurant has to «knock my socks off». And that is what Herbie’s did last night. Last night was crowded but we were still able to find seats at the bar. Dustin and Amanda took care of us. After sipping on our cocktail for awhile and munching on some popcorn, Mike decided to start with a shrimp cocktail and I went with a half dozen oysters on the half shell. The tray that they came out on was impressive. And the oysters were so delicious and fresh. Burst in your mouth with that wonderful saltwater taste. Mike’s shrimp got a big thumb’s up also. Nice and plump. We moved on to our next course — one of the specials of the evening — rack of lamb. It was wonderful and cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes(how do they get mashed potatoes to taste so good?) with sautéed peppers. It was fantastic. And then on to dessert. Make your own s’mores. Get outta here. A little pot with fire. In house made marshmallows that were scrumdillyisious(and I don’t really like marshmallows) with cinnamon graham crackers and three types of chocolate. Is this heaven!!! Oops, there went my socks. Of course I’ll go back to Herbies. I have to find my socks.

We were in town for a wedding and had some friends who live in St. Louis, so they were kind enough to meet us for dinner. They chose this place, which is located in a super cute area with patio tables outside on the sidewalk and string lights. When we walked in, it reminded me of an old school steakhouse. Food: To start, we ordered the short rib flat bread and shrimp dumplings to share. The flat bread was pretty good, but then again, who doesn’t like short ribs on pizza? The shrimp dumplings were okay. They had a very thick outer layer that I wasn’t a big fan of. I ordered the roasted chicken breast and my bf ordered the steak frites with the red wine demi sauce. My chicken was pretty good, nice and moist. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies. It reminded me of a steakhouse because everything was quite buttery. Not a bad thing, but also not a good thing when a girl has to fit into a dress the next day. My bf’s steak was solid, but the frites were probably my favorite part(I have a soft spot for fried potatoes in any form). Ambiance: Classy and old school. Service: Our waiter was very attentive. There also weren’t very many people in the restaurant to begin with, though. Drinks: They have quite and extensive wine list, but I didn’t partake in any. Their cocktails are pretty good. Would I return? Nothing WOW’d me and I’m always looking for a new place to check out, so maybe not anytime soon.

Have been to Herbie’s a handful of times and had decent food. Went back last night for dinner and had the scallops… during the course of the dinner my front tooth was chipped on a shell from the scallops, which, obviously we’re not prepared properly… I stayed calmed and collected, which obviously was a mistake, our server Josh, was great… the manager Sean, however was not… I went to the restrooms to look in the mirror and snap a pic of it… as I came out, I was approached by Sean, who try to tell me he don’t see how I could have lost part of my tooth from the scallop… we exchanged phone numbers… when the bill came I was still charged for my meal! When I approached the manager again, he said, well I thought everything was ok… I said, so, I guess I have to cause a scene for anything to be done about this?!? Won’t ever be back, fair warning, management doesn’t give a crap!

I came for brunch on Sunday and absolutely loved it. The Madison eggs Benedict was terrific. I also think the sausage gravy with the cheddar drop biscuits was absolutely to die for! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, superb food, reasonably priced for the quality you get. I would go back in a heart beat and heartily recommend it!

Great experience here! It was a couple weeks ago so I actually can’t remember what I ate(whoops), but I know at the time I really enjoyed it as well as the ambiance.

Before this Saturdays showing of Buddy Holly at the Muny 3 friends and I had reservations at Herbies. We went there last year and I don’t remember anything special except it was a bit pricy. This time my guest and I ordered a tomato pasta special they had. I had water to drink and he had a coke. The pasta was fine, something I’d make at home. It did give me a bad case of heart burn though. The description of that special wasn’t quite right. Our bill was $ 71, tip it was $ 90. Two bowls of pasta, 1 coke, $ 90. The waiting staff was great. I won’t be back though, that’s ridiculous.

Tonight we celebrated my husband’s graduation at Herbie’s! It was my job to pick the restaurant and my father-in-law treated us all, so I needed this place to make him happy! Lucky enough for me, it did! We were a party of eight and at 5:30p on a Friday night, they were able to seat us in the second dining room, which we had to ourselves throughout most of the meal. This kept things quiet and allowed the conversation to flow! We had good service — they did a great job of being attentive, but also allowing us space to talk. Most everyone seemed happy with everything they ordered. My mom’s salmon salad came in one of the most enormous bowls I have ever seen! And so did my friend’s pasta. So these were pretty decent portions(except for my mother-in-law’s scallops, which was a smaller plate). One of our friends ordered the Bison burger and it looked amazing! I got to try one of the fries and it was definitely on point. My husband, my father-in-law and I ordered the special: Veal T-bone with sweet potato and bacon gratin and brussel sprouts. The brussel sprouts weren’t roasted quite enough to my liking(my husband and I like them practically burnt), but they were seasoned quite nicely. I’ve never had veal, so I had no expectations going in. It was cooked perfectly and the seasoning was nice. But I have to say that my personal favorite is still filet mignon. However, I’m glad I had the opportunity to try this in a place that did it right. My favorite part of my entrée was definitely the gratin! As far as I’m concerned, you can’t wrong with sweet potatoes and bacon, especially when you cover them with PLENTY of gooey cheese! I have to say that dessert was my favorite part of the meal! My father-in-law immediately pointed out the Chocolate Fritters to me — he knows my sweet tooth so well. While other desserts sounded like safe bets, I’ve never found chocolate fritters anywhere else, so I knew that’s what I needed to try. They took balls of Bailey’s chocolate, covered them in funnel cake dough and fried them. While I have no idea how one can eat these balls of magic without dripping melted chocolate all over your face, hands and the table, I didn’t really care, because I was in chocolate heaven. Also, the fritters paired perfect with a scoop of Cinnamon ice cream(Bailey’s Cinnamon ice cream). My mother loved her Butterscotch Crème Brûlée and my friend loved her flourless chocolate cake. Although I think the latter definitely came in second as far as chocolate options went. I cannot wait to visit Herbie’s again. I’d definitely love to give their burger or the cheese plate a try. And I should probably call ahead to make sure those chocolate fritters are still on the menu…

HORRIBLESERVICE but food was very good even though it took us constantly asking for service. Appetizers entered into the computer but for some unexplained reason it didn’t get submitted, press the send button maybe. Continually had to ask the server for drinks. Dinner took an hour to reach our table after it was ordered. And to say the restaurant was busy it wasn’t. On top of that the one of the cancelled items we were charged for which made me furious. The dinner entrees were outstanding from the perfectly prepared Sea Scallops, Lobster Mac n Cheese, Yellowfin Tuna and Salmon. The restaurant itself was inviting but extremely loud with a table if obnoxious diners playing a game that you couldn’t carry on a conversation across the table.

The word«disgusting» does not even describe how bad this place is. This place caters to baby boomers(no offense to baby boomers but the majority of boomers seem to like crappy frozen Sysco food that is bland and over sauced with flavor-less sauce or gravy). For starters, the staff was very rude to anyone under the age of 40. We ordered drinks at the bar 3 times and never got them. I decided to make it easy on the Bartender by ordering a bottle of Laurent-Perrier Champagne. Twice I went to talk to him and twice he put his hand in my face and told me to wait. After waiting 45 minutes he finally came over and said, «so did you finally decide?» I said, «I decided a very long time ago.» And as soon as I told him I would take the Laurent-Perrier, his attitude changed in a flash, I gather because it was an 85 dollar bottle of wine instead of asking for a 5 dollar happy hour cocktail. He became very nice from that point forward, but it was tooo late. The only reason we stayed and didn’t leave after waiting for 45 minutes for a drink was because we had been invited for a special event. We sat down to dinner at 7PM. It took them 45 minutes to take our order, and 45 more minutes to get us our food. Everyone kept coming by assuming we had eaten already. We did not get appetizers, or dessert so they can’t claim they were«staggering» our food. Everything we tasted was gross. The Lobster Mac and Cheese was nothing more than flour water with bad noodles. Oh, and I never found a piece of lobster, but it smelled like Truffle oil like you wouldn’t believe. The bison burger was not edible because the tomatoes they put on the burger were clearly rancid and came out of a frozen pre-cut Sysco trey. The meat was still frozen in the middle but cooked to well done on the outsides. This was the ONE thing that they did not put sauce on. It was dry as a bone, even though their description talked about an aioli being on the burger? I asked for Yorkshire mayonnaise they had on the menu but I never got it. They eventually brought out a mayonnaise but that was after the one bite of burger I had and I wasn’t going to eat anymore after that. The frites were not even hand made, they were burger king fries which equals Sysco fries. Herbie’s website looks awesome, but it is NOTHING like what you actually end up getting at the restaurant. Avoid this place. I can NOT believe that people call this fine dining. This place is disgusting and people are rude.

Went here for Valentines Day. The food was inventive and good, but not outstanding.(3.5) The wine list was excellent, and the mixed drinks were very good.(4.5) Unfortunately the seating arrangement really devalued the otherwise neat décor. Due to the close proximity of other tables, there was no privacy and it lessened the experience of the dinner.(2)

Went for Sunday brunch, it took an hour and a half for them to bring us our food after we ordered. I had the stuffed french toast of the day, and it was probably the worst french toast I’ve ever had. There was no taste to it at all, and after a few bites the cream cheese stuffing made me feel sick and I couldn’t eat anything else. Everyone else who tried the french toast agreed. Also I ordered poached eggs as a side, and they came in a ramekin basically drowned in vinegar. Really wanted to like the place but they were such a disappointment. Not going there again. It was terrible!

Went here for our anniversary a few days ago. It was quite good, and I’ll go over the various elements. So breaking it down: Food: Food was very good in most cases. We had the shrimp dumpling appetizer which was extremely flavorful and my husband that normally does not like shrimp even enjoyed it. For our main entrée I ordered the Wellington of Beef and he got the Pork Chop. The pork was slightly overcooked but still tasted well enough and my husband doesn’t like to make complaints. The Wellington of Beef was extremely mushy and lacked flavor. However — the manager was swift to offer me another option — the filet. The filet was great, certainly one of the best I’ve had — top five for sure. I have to say the highlight for me was the desserts. My husband had the cheesecake with chocolate sea salt and I had the Butterscotch Crème Brulee. Both were a huge highlight for us. Atmosphere: The general décor and building is pretty, but it is obvious it’s an older building that would benefit greatly from some small repairs. In many cases small dings gave it a presence but there were areas where the old fashioned tile was so broken up that it subtracted instead of added to the overall theme. Service: — The service was exceptional. The waiters were attentive, the manager was quick to address issues(detailed above) and they were even so kind as to give us a free dessert after learning that it was our anniversary — I thought that was quite classy of them. Overall: I feel they are a solid four. Given they weren’t perfect but certainly still very good. It was a good place for a special occasion but certainly too pricy for a more casual meal. Worth trying at least once I’d say.

Here are the reasons why I give Herbies five stars:(oh and FYI I’m only basing this review on Sunday brunch!) 1. MIMOSAS. Unlimited, fruity, delicious mimosas! You pay around 14 bucks for all you can drink! They have several different flavors(regular, peach, berry, etc!) which is awesome. They bring you a new glass of whichever flavor you want when you want :) 2. FOOD. wow, the brunch food was absolutely to die for! I had skillet French toast with berries and we split the biscuits and gravy! All of the people in my party loved their entrees and we want to go back! 3. AMBIANCE. This place is so sweet and cute. It is a great date place or place for friends! I recommend Herbies to anyone who loves brunch and mimosas :) enjoy!

I went with my girlfriend on my bday for brunch, although the brunch was good, I probably wouldn’t return for brunch but definitely want to try there dinner. The ambiance is very relaxing and beautiful. The brunch menu just wasn’t selective enough for me as I am extremely indecisive.

What’s great about Herbie’s is that it’s a great restaurant AND a great bar. Some nights I go just for dinner, some nights I go just for drinks. The bar staff is great and the cocktails are fantastic. Sometimes I go for happy hour drinks and end up spending all night there… The food is enjoyable as well, and the menu has great variety. Lots of fine dining choices, but you can also get a hamburger. Service is always good.

Went here for my boyfriends birthday on Saturday night. We arrived early for a 7:15 reservation and had a drink at the bar. Bartenders were nice and helpful, poured excellent drinks! Our server, I believe his name was Joshua, was fantastic! Personable, knowledgable, and not over bearing. My filet was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of seasoning and my boyfriend loved his beef Wellington. We ended with a complimentary glass of champagne and flourless chocolate cake. I highly recommend this restaurant! Can’t wait to go back!

I got about 5 bites of meat and a sh*t load of mashed potatoes on the side. Nice atmosphere, kinda pricey, not a lot of food in my opinion for the price. Probably won’t go back here. The food was delicious however. I had the baked chicken entrée.
