For great traditional pizza Maverick’s is the place to go. Quick delivery, good menu.

I found this place because it was next to the shop where I get my hair done. Wow, the pizza is amazing, so fresh, unlike any other I’ve had. Do yourself a favor and try it. You won’t be sorry.

I tried my first Maverick’s pizza based on their excellent reviews. The Mediterranean was full of fresh vegetables, feta, olives, and very good. However, I prefer a crunchy crust and mine certainly was not. It was so soft that it wasn’t possible to pick up a piece without it falling apart. I had to roll it up to get something off the plate. If I could get a more crunchy crust, I’d go back, but otherwise, not.

Great Pizza. The best we’ve had in many years. We arrived at the Goring hotel late with the whole family. A quick bite sounded good so we walked around the block to find Mavericks. With a 2 year old in tow it looked perfect. Mary or Mari(a cute young French gal) was a sweetheart. The baby loved her. My pizza was fantastic and my wife said her«Bianco» was the best ever. That’s quite a recommendation. The vibe is hip; not pretentious. Definitely a stop for great pizza.

Mavericks makes the best pie in the Twin Cities IMO. Everything else out here is either too dainty or too much like fast food pizza. Mavericks nails it with their sloppy and well-done pie. A+ Antipasto as well.

Mitch the owner is fabulous. When a caterer cancelled last minute for my sister’s wedding, yes you read that right, Mitch and his team put together pizzas, a huge salad, crackers, cheese and a veggie tray in ANHOUR. Mitch, you gained about 60 new customers yesterday as everyone said they would come to your shop to get food(pizza was Delish) but simply because you rose to the occasion. Thank you. Well done. My new favorite pizzeria.

Mavericks is not New York pizza, let me just state that right up front. «New York style» is not the same thing. I’m touchy when it comes to Midwestern claims of new york pizza bc every single time I’ve been disappointed, with the exception of one place, and that was in central Iowa twenty-ish years ago. So Mavericks has a crust vaguely *similar* to NY pizza and that’s where the comparison ends. However, Mavericks doesn’t really need to set up this comparison bc it stands on its own just fine. The crust is chewy rather than Carbone’s cracker crisp, the cheese, sauce, etc. are perfectly good. I wouldn’t bother with any of the add ons. The garlic bread is just pizza dough with some garlic butter brushed on. The antipasto is just pizza toppings in oil & vinegar. The pizza is solid, but the rest just seems like menu fillers.

It took awhile for us to get our pizza but the quality was excellent. We don’t eat pork in our household so we were looking for a pizza place that would deliver in the neighborhood and would offer more non-pork meat options. We tried the Philly Beef and it was delicious! The meat was nicely seasoned and very tender, the crust was the perfect thickness and had just the right amount of sauce(we don’t like a ton of sauce). We also ordered the garlic cheese bread which is more like small cheese pizza. The bread also was seasoned perfectly and you were already too taste both the cheese and garlic. The prices are about what you’d pay at any chain pizza place. I will definitely be ordering from Mavericks again.

Pizza is good, not happy with the service. Not how I would expect a local small business to treat their clientele.

This is the best pizza in town! We get the traditional crust with sausage and banana peppers!!! Good salads and great ice cream too!

This is some of the best pizza I’ve ever eaten. I got a sausage pie and the homemade sausage is perfectly spicy and the cheese blend is amazing. Make sure to get an order of the garlic cheese bread. I could honestly eat an entire order of that with no problem.

Thanks to the West seventh Facebook group, I was turned onto this place. I am now addicted to their chicken cranberry walnut salad. No more culvers or Wendy’s for me. This salad is amazing and the dressing is like no other I’ve had. It’s a raspberry vinaigrette but it’s a little thicker than your normal vinaigrette. They are generous with the toppings and it’s an amazing deal at six dollars! Other items I have tried are the chicken wings which were excellent as well and the pizza. I had my typical sausage, pineapple, and banana pepper pizza and it was delicious. I still have my number 1 Pizza Place which I will not mention here because I do not want to take anything away from Mavericks. The ingredients on the pizza were super fresh, the sauce was a nice spicy, and the crust was more of a cornmeal base I would say. I would definitely order another pizza here with my salad. Oink Oink! The first time I went to Mavericks I believe the owner may have been working and he and the other worker were super friendly. I always feel a little uncomfortable going into these take out only pizza places but they make you feel right at home the minute you walk in the door. They also deliver but I’m not sure they delivered to me downtown and Lowertown but if they did I would definitely be delivering quite often! Check this place out and I guarantee you, you definitely will not be ordering salads from any other place and will enjoy a fresh tasty pizza.

Great pizza! Ordered a 12″ pepperoni and garlic cheese bread — pleasantly surprised to find that the garlic cheese bread was more like garlic pizza sticks.

Why did it take me so long to discover this place? I am a recent transplant to MN and an even more recent one to St. Paul. I moved here after living in NYC and jersey, so I know good pizza. For the past couple years, I thought the high-end pizza game was in Minneapolis. Pizzeria Lola, black sheep in the north loop, and hello pizza go-to spots for me. Only Lola is pricey and has a line every time you go there, hello pizza is hello expensive, and black sheep has really gone downhill. Plus, as a new St. Paulista, they’re all pretty far from where I live and not practical for an impromptu pizza run. On a lark, I stopped in to Mavericks tonight to get two pizzas for dinner, and they were made expertly. The ingredients were fresh and they don’t skimp with their toppings. One pie with mushrooms, Kalamata olives and fresh garlic, which was amazing. The other was pepperoni and mushrooms, and the pepperoni was perfectly charred. The best part? This place is really affordable. And they deliver. The same order at hello pizza would’ve set me back over $ 50, and I paid $ 35 for two large pizzas here. I’m going to need to see how consistent this place is, but if it is, looks like Maverick’s is the new pizza boss in town.

I really enjoy the supreme pizza and it’s the pizza take out choice of my family. We often also get the antipasti, I would highly recommend both of these. The delivery is nice and quick(granted to live a little more than half a mile away) but still. I would defiantly recommend to anyone who like a thick crust and a good pizza.

We tried this place about a month ago, on a day decent enough to allow us to sit outside(which was unexpectedly needed, since it really seems to be carryout only, which we didn’t realize). We ordered basically their ‘supreme’, and while it was good, it just wasn’t great. I think the problem for me was the sauce. It just wasn’t tasty enough. Or maybe spicy enough. I don’t know… it was just too tomato-y without much other flavor. The service was friendly, the ingredients were fresh, and they did offer free ice cream to us(although when we used our Groupon, the offer mysteriously ‘disappeared’…hmmmm… :)). Anyways…I think it’s an OK place, but don’t live close, so probably won’t try it again, since it’s pretty much carryout and delivery only. Also, they need to add some spice to the sauce! :)

The best delivery pizza in St. Paul. We had the ultimate but substituted pineapple for the mushrooms and it was excellent. The homemade sausage is some of the best I have ever had. The thin, crispy crust actually stayed crispy even though it was delivered. Also, the garlic cheese bread is great.

Twin Cities best crust, best sauce, and best toppings. I’m so glad Mavericks is in my neighborhood! The Art Attack pizza is so awesome — onions, artichokes, and oil-based garlicky sauce on their awesome thin crust. It’s my go-to! Great salads too.

One of my classmates has a weekly pizza night tradition and this was her highest rated joint. I had to try some based on her praises. She was not bluffing, their pizza is top quality and the service is stellar. We got two custom 12 in. pizzas; hawaiian and artichokes with mushrooms ‘n onions. Both were spectacular; perfect amount of sauce, heavenly crust, rockin’ cheese! I’m lovin’ it! Antipasto salad was loaded with the good stuff. I can see Mavericks becoming an obsession that quickly consumes my life.

Eh… Pizza was ok. Trying to be Pizza Luce and not making it. Pizza was over-spiced and just didn’t impress. And a delivery charge? I thought those were a thing of the past. I live 6 blocks away and spent more than $ 20, delivery charge should be waived. It comes down to this, if you want Pizza Luce style pizza, go there. Heck, they even deliver for free! It’s too bad, because I like to support the neighborhood places. But if I can get a better product for less money just outside of the hood, well…

So I ordered my standard sausage onion pizza when I’m trying a place and have to say I really enjoyed it. I’m a cut in squares kinda guy and they accommodated which sounded by their reply is not their norm. The crust? Light yet firm with a nice taste. The sauce had hints of garlic and basil and overall, it was a great pizza. I had it delivered so they threw on a $ 2.00 delivery charge. Not sure if that goes to the driver or not but with a $ 3 tip, I ended up getting a 12″ pizza for nearly $ 17.00. Kind of expensive going that route. If I would’ve waited 20 minutes, it would’ve only been around $ 11 after tax. In addition, the place really is set up for delivery/pick-up only as the place is small. So because of that $ 2 charge, 1 loss of a star. I’ll be back but instead of delivery, I’ll just pick-up.
