Dollar General

Not sure what it is with management at Dollar General but have you noticed that EVERY store tells you their bathrooms are «out of order»? EACH AND EVERY STORE. i made the mistake of stopping in yesterday to pick up a few things but had an urgency to take care of and was denied use of the facilities with the blanket excuse passed down from management. I left my basket and walked out. If you can’t allow a paying customer to use your restroom, I’m not spending my money in your store.

Since I live in Hollister, I likely won’t get to this store very often, but plan to look when I can get to Salinas. I was there today and saw this on the old Goodwill building in the Sherwood plaza. I’d never seen one of these stores and decided to check it out. I agree with the reviewer who said this store is reminiscent of old store chains like TG&Y and Woolworths. I miss seeing stores like that and am glad to see this one. The man working at the store said this is one of the first Dollar General stores to make to the West Coast, as it was originally an East Coast store only. Hope to see more of these stores in the Central Coast area.

This is a great discount variety store. It is a chain store that has many kinds of items in stock including auto supplies, clothing, groceries, electronics, and more. Dollar General has an e-​newsletter that you can subscribe to for finding out the latest deals and coupons available. I think that best deals are the DVDs that include Blu-​rays. The clerks are very helpful and nice.
There are only two things I do not like about this store. First, much of the items in stock do not have prices on them and so you have to get a clerk to check for you. However, they are more then willing to do so as it appeared when I was there last. Also, the clothing selection is not that great, in my opinion. It reminds me of type of selection the small variety stores of the 1980s had such as TG&Y, Woolworth’s and Newberry’s. Not that these stores were not still worthwhile to shop at but such stores no longer exist either. I hope Dollar General remains a successful variety store chain for years to come. I am thrilled that there is now one in Salinas. I just wish they had a better selection of clothing.
