If you are not a regular here, or the bartender doesn’t know you. Don’t, just don’t. Staff is too busy bullshitting with their friends to worry about anyone they don’t know. 30 minutes, no action, go to the bar, get a «Gimme just a minute». 10 minutes later, walked out. Save yourself the hassle.

A couple of friends went in an were told to leave because they were gay. Sweet girls, not trying to cause any problems. Tried to order drinks and the manager told them to leave because they were kissing. Very disappointed.

Nice little tucked-away joint with outdoor seating. I love being able to sit outside and eat/drink/relax. Only complaints are that you need an ID to get in, even if not ordering beer in the middle of the day(due to stupid SLC laws — not Hog Wallow’s fault), and smokers outside ruin the experience a bit. Very separate smoking/non-smoking sections might help.

This place has great bands for live music and a nice layout inside and outside. Outside is a nice secluded area that is perfect for talking. I think their drink prices were ok but they don’t really have much food to offer. There are many rats outside in the table area. So if you don’t like rats, don’t sit outside(or maybe inside) here.

My wife and I popped in for a pitcher of beer. This place feels like a real pub, not unlike places I’ve been in the UK. We sat on the patio which was perfect for a summer night. We had the smoked chicken wings after the waitress told us that they were smoked for two days. They were delicious and the meat melted off the bones — great smokey taste perfect with the beer.

Pizza was burned, but they remade it. Server got my order wrong, so I had a regular burger instead of the Hog burger. It was less than mediocre. The pizza was quite good. Good service, great atmosphere. The patio is cool. If you’re into music, booze & atmosphere, try it out. If you want good food, go somewhere else.

So far so good. I can’t believe I have never ventured into this joint. Cool location, at the mouth of the canyon(and next to my work), and a cool«divey» feel to it. First thing I noticed is the staff was pretty friendly. Instantly ordered a few drinks and was pleasantly surprised with the price. Seems to be on the low end of pricing for shots and beers which is great. Beer selection isn’t the greatest in the world, but I can make it work. The highlight is a mix between the pizza and the patio. Even better? Eating pizza on the patio. I got a table tucked away in the back and I dare say this is my new favorite patio in SLC. Thats right… THE best! The menu has the usual bar food. Sandwiches, wings, pizza, etc etc. The bartender mentioned the pizzas are great so I got one. A personal starts at $ 7 and each topping is $ 1.50. These things are good… not a crazy amount of cheese, decent amount of toppings, crispy crust and served boiling, lava hot. The ONLY downside is the people smoking on the patio, but hey, it’s well worth it.

In the heart of upscale overpriced homes is a gem hiding around the corner in a bush. This little pub is an oasis of drunken sanity in a dessert of posh wankers. The patio is lush and multi-layered. It snakes and winds around the trees like like a drunk guy mowing your lawn. The food is good, the music is awesome and the places you can sneak off to make out and say«C’mon baby, no one is watching just touch it» are numerous. So swing by and listen to some Stonefed, and if you hear the bushes rattle… it’s not me, must be a Honey Badger.

Best local bar in Cottonwood Heights. Come one, come all. Everyone will fit in at this locale. Old, young, cowboy, biker, hipster or ski bum… you name it and you will feel at home. The atmosphere here is rustic ski cabin meets dark mysterious rock and roll bar. This place has a fantastic patio for the warmer months that is shady and green. They also have two pool tables inside. Lots of good live music plays here too. The whole scene is laid back! The service is always attentive and pleasant. The food is mediocre though. Maybe not the place to go for dinner, but if you need something to soak up some alcohol… it will do. Here is a tip… If you get to the bar early enough you can escape the cover charge!

Hogs and I go waaaay back… Inexpensive drinks, good food, and great music. Whats not to love? Not to forget, the best-kept-secret patio in all of Salt Lake. This place is a little diamond in the rough. And I mean rough. It is easy to pass by and not give this old timer pile a second glance. If you’re not looking for anything fancy, stop by Hogs on a warm summer night. Pull up a seat on the patio, order a beer and a key lime shot(my favorite) and a helping of macho nachos(I like it with chili, but they have verde if you prefer). You’ll probably see me doing the same.

This place just has a great vibe. Their patio feels like Narnia — you kind of expect one of those little goat men and an ice queen to pop out while you’re out there. The prices seem pretty alright for the area. I didn’t get to spend a whole lot of time there, but I’ll definitely be going back.

I used to love this place, the food is great, but sadly the last time I was here, I couldn’t even get a beverage before walking out. The bartenders ignore us completely so we left.

Some of my wive’s co-workers through her a wedding shower here. Place wasn’t bad. Food was definitely nothing to die for, but the service was good. The place was clean, and my favorite part was the drive up. I remembered briefly why people talk about the beauty of Salt Lake so much, with the windy roads, mountains and green trees. I feel the age demographic is that of 30 to 45 years old.

This place kicks ass. It’s an awesome, hidden away bar that I drove by countless times without even noticing it. The regulars there aren’t some stereotypical drunks, but really friendly, nice, good conversationalists who you look forward to greeting anytime you go in. The patio is amazing for a little bar like that and I would never have expected it to go as far back as it did when I went there the first time. It’s like Narnia, especially in the winter. The bartenders are talented and do their best to make you happy, especially when it’s busy on nights when bands like Stonefed play and the place gets packed. Even if they’re having a shitty day they make the effort to make you happy instead of moping around being assholes. They truly are amazing. The cheese fries are insane and are completely covered in cheese, which is what I look for in CHEESE fries. Cheese. The pizzas are also incredible. But the best thing you’re going to get there are the ribs! Holy shit, they are mouth wateringly delicious. If you’re going to be there make sure you try them. The bouncers make you feel secure and always manage to handle bad situations before they get out of hand, plus they are a good looking bunch of tough guys!

What a fun name, and a fun place. Come here just to admire the«Hobbit» like bar with an entrance with ivy grown over the roof. Inside is all wooden with a cozy cabin like feel. They have live music on several nights(sometimes requires a cover charge), and pool tables in the back. Drink menu includes beer and cocktails. We just came for drinks, but they do have food here including regular pub grub(burgers and the like). I enjoyed the Johnny Session IPA from Moab Brewing on draft. They also have Epic in cans or bottles, but didn’t get a chance to sample as I had to drive back to the city where I was staying. If in the area again, I would probably stop back in. Bartender lady was friendly and efficient and made you feel at home.

Solid bar, and I literally mean a solid wood carved bar. The mermaid is my favorite feature and has stuck with me for years legit staff, but nothing that stands remarkably out. Change of ownership and hopeful their menu picks up, hence 3 stars. Otherwise the physical décor and atmosphere rocks.

I love this bar. Warm and cozy. Live music. Really inexpensive beer options. Hidden and tucked away in Cottonwood Heights that is truly a beautiful area for a sweet bar. This is what it’ll give ya: Music Wednesday-Sunday, and the cover charge varies depending on the band playing. The music is worth the cover charge. Know before you go! Cool fire place. Amazing patio. 2 pool tables. Plenty of seating around the bar and tables everywhere in all sizes. Food is mediocre. Had the burger and fries which weren’t something I would order again. Pizza was meh, not the best thing in the world. Would be 5 stars if they had an amazing niche for the food(maybe cottonbottom should sell them their garlic burger secrets since they are leaving our bar world??). Bartenders are busy, but they are all really chill and easy going(except one or two we have had). Just be patient my friends!

The husband, the father-in-law, and I came down here on a blessed Friday evening to enjoy the bluesy-rock of Candy’s River House. I love the location. It feels like a tucked away loggy oasis of music and good times. The bar is rather spacious with eating tables, pool tables, a little stage, and an outdoor seating area where you can actually carry on a conversation without the use of megaphones. The menu is somewhat limited, if you are a gluten-free vegetarian you will only be able to eat the salsa and chips or french fries. I opted for the french fries. Oil does a body good. It’s possible I’m confusing french fry oil with coconut and flax seed oil but let’s not focus on that. As for the dance floor. Loved it. A nice spacious area where I was not limited by sardine-packed human beings nor annoying immovable items such as load bearing columns and tables screwed into the floor. None of that. A nice hardwood floor, little nooks around the stage to stash my purse, and for a good hour it was only the man and I tearing it up just how we like it. Later we were joined by a bunch of people and it really became a party AND there was even another Asian getting her groove on! There were actually a total of THREE Asians in that bar including myself. It was rather impressive. And dancing to blues rock, our most favorite type of music? Priceless and next to impossible to find in Hawaii. Right. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Utah. Good times.

After a long day of business meetings and a nice dinner, my group was looking for a place to enjoy a nightcap and relax. The lady at the front desk at my hotel recommended that we try The Hog Wallow Pub just down the street. With the promise of cold beer on tap, and a name like The Hog Wallow Pub, we had to give this place a try. The Hog Wallow name comes from a rapid on one of the nearby rivers, but we still thought it was a great name for a rustic mountain pub. The Pub is a charming stone cabin that sits on the side of the hill, and looks like the home of the Seven Dwarves from the outside. Inside is a rustic wooden bar area with lots of tables and a corner area for their live bands. Out on the back patio the tables and chairs are tucked amid the surrounding evergreens. There are space heaters and some fire pits back in this area as well. This place was hopping, even on a weeknight, and it was easy to see why this place was a locals favorite. They had a great collection of beers on tap and in bottles, including some selections from local microbreweries. The bar also offered wine and spirits with a bunch of drink specials. The Hog Wallow has a great selection of appetizers and finger foods along with salads, pizzas, sammies, and burgers. I especially enjoyed the live music which happens Wednesday — Saturday nights. The Hog Wallow features local and out of state bands, and the genres include Americana, Reggae, Blues, Funk, Soul to Jazz. The music begins about 9:30pm. Great little spot that is worth seeking out!

This is my go to spot for a drink when I am feeling thirsty. Part ski bar, part rock and roll pub this place serves those who have fled the oppressive bounds of Utah. They have live music wed thru Sunday and is often filled with local ski celeb and rowdy out of townees on vacation. The winters it can be busy late on non-powder days. The summers the patio is the go to spot for people watching. Beware of the cougars, they have been known to stop by at times.
