My parents and I went last Friday and while we were promptly seated, it took me getting up about 15 mins later to have the hostess find our waiter. Right at the same time, a Caucasian couple was shown to their table and promptly served by their waiter. Ordinarily I would not notice something like this but the same thing happened when my Mom and I ate there a few months prior. With so many good choices in town, I suggest avoiding this place at all costs. Also, the food was lukewarm and tasteless.

I can not wait to go back!!! The nachos are some of the best nachos I’ve ever had. We started off with the chip and salsa, the salsa isn’t very spicy but has a ton of flavor. Then came the worlds best nachos. The service is A+ and the place has a lot of history with pictures from wall to wall of celebrities and past customers. If you like Tex-Mex this is the place.

NOTKETOFRIENDLY — Skip It! If they could charge you for a toothpick, they would! I ordered the Cha Cha’s salad because I’m in a ketogenic diet. The description says the salad has chihuahua and yellow cheese. Since I’m on Keto I told the waiter, no carbs so to hold off on the tortilla strips. The salad came in a tortilla bowl, with tons of lettuce and without exaggeration– a teaspoon of cheese. There was so little avocado, that my husband asked the waiter if the menu said it came with avocado and he kindly pointed at the small pieces that was drowned in a boatful of lettuce. We kindly asked for more cheese due to the lack of what came with our order. We also asked for sour cream, I told the waiter just 1 sour cream– my husband and I will share it. He brought out 2. When we got our bill, we got charged for 2 cheeses and 2 sour cream. That brought the $ 8.99 salad to $ 13+ salad x 2 and it was definitely not worth it! I can honestly go to Taco Cabana or Blanco Café and get a much much better salad at a cheaper price. I will not be going back to this place #ketofriendlyrestaurants #notketofriendly

I ordered the shrimp tacos. I was convinced by the waiter who said they were the best in Texas. I received my tacos to find out they use baby shrimp(about the same size as you get from the cup noodles for .59 cent) with a ridiculous amount of lettuce. No extra toppings on them. I was pretty upset seeing how they were alil more than 10 $. I gave it another shot with their beef enchiladas and was disappointed yet again. Never again will I go, the drinks were pretty decent but not worth the price.

I got chicken puffy tacos. There were so many bones in the chicken I couldn’t eat the tacos. Terrible — will never eat there again I was so grossed out.

I just happened to pass this place and decided to try it what big mistake ! It’s a very nice festive looking place but the food is ridiculously awful I hated every single bite of my enchiladas seriously one of the worst in San Antonio ! These cooks need to try blancos café enchiladas which many agree are simply the best ! Cha chas should really rework there recipes the food made me cringe and a bit sick to my stomach. Why is it so bad why!!! They should seriously be ashamed …

My husband and I come here frequently. Although the food is always top notch, tonight it was perfect! The chips were fresh and hot. My husband always orders the Texas enchiladas which are his favorite. They have just the right amount of cheese and a very generous amount of chili gravy on top. I, on the other hand, try something different every time. I have had everything from soup to shrimp tacos. Tonight I had the picadillo gordita which was flavorful and held together the entire time. I usually get one of their margaritas(they had a very extensive list of specialty drinks!) but this time I just wanted tea and it was good too. We have not ever been disappointed. It can get busy on Fridays and Saturdays but we have never had more than a 5 minute wait.

Great food. Awesome ritas. Service was good yet took a while after drinks to put in a food order. I think best part was the chips n salsa as I never seen someone good through 3 orders of that before and during a meal.

Food is delicious, staff is friendly, service was good, and we had a great time. The fish tacos are excellent. Would recommend this restaurant to family and friends. Sorry the Cha Cha’s location on Babcock closed. Would love to see them reopen… lots of good memories there.

I haven’t been in quite a long time. I had fond memories of a kitsch Tex-Mex institution with its funky lighting and decent food. Sadly, that’s not the memory I have anymore. We arrived around dusk so it wasn’t dark enough to enjoy their weird neon lighting. They have a projection TV on a screen which hasn’t been updated since long before my last visit back in the 90’s. It’s fuzzy and grainy and hurts your eyes. They should just take it down. The food was a total let down. I had the pork plate and the pork way overcooked and dry although with a decent flavor. The rice was decent. The beans were decent. One of my tablemates ordered their menudo. To be fair, I like menudo, but I don’t love it. I actually thought it tasted bad, and if I had ordered it would’ve returned it. I LOVE salsa but not theirs. They make it in a blender, which is sacrilege to me. It’s a pasty tomato sauce thing without much herbs and spice. Quite bland. Their tortillas chips are pretty good but without good salsa it just doesn’t matter. I love margaritas and am quite specific on what a good one is. I ordered one of their top shelf marg’s and it was surprisingly good. Service was good. We have too many good Tex-Mex options in SA to justify a return EVER.

Excellent! We had a wonderful waiter who helped guide us to some of the restaurants specialties. I had the Azteca Plate which was a cheese enchilada, beef crispy taco and a beef stuffed pablano pepper. All were excellent and the re-fried beans that they came with were excellent as well. My husband had a dish that has marinated beef, onions and cheese served on a hot plate with tortillas, beans, guac and rice. I cannot remember the name but it was wonderful. The beef was fork tender and had such great flavor. Definitely be back next time we are in town.

This is our ‘Go-To’ mexican restaurant… they are very consistant and never disappoint. The drinks are yummy and worth every penny. Love the salsa and warm tortilla chips! We continue to experiment with other restaurants in the city; BUT ChaCha’s has always come out the winner thus far :)

Excellent lunch. Enjoyed the Vegetarian Enchiladas and Gorditas. Jesse was an excellent waiter. The only thing missing was that the Patio was unavailable.

My husband and I love coming here. My husband even celebrated his birthday here it was great the drinks are great and overall the food is amazingly good especially they’re entomatadas are so good. The only plate I wouldn’t recommend is the fish tacos they are so greasy that the tortilla is dripping wet and it tears apart as soon as you grab it. The best margarita there is the spursarita, its delicious! It has 3 different colors pink white and blue. The food is not pricey and you get served a good amount. They do have this one waiter that is kinda grouchy at times, but everyone else is great. Definitely recommend this place!

Will never go back. Service was horrible. We waited an hour for our food. We were with a large party but half the group got their food and then some more came out. We had already told them to cancel our order because it was taking to long. 10 minutes later, they bring out the food and ask if we still want it and will be discounted. We get the bill… no discount. We get offered a plate of sopapillas while we are finishing cake. Not a good experience. Will not be recommending. Had to give 1 star to post. But otherwise it would be no stars.

No drinks for me, my baby is still too young, but the food was pretty good. The chips were delicious, though the salsa isn’t so impressive and unfortunately depletes from those yummy, homemade-tasting chips. The tortillas tasted made in-house too, although they were made with a little too much mateca and butter for me. I ordered the beef fajita plate, and the nest and guacamole were delish! I was also really hungry. Sometimes that alters my taste buds a little bit, so hopefully it wasn’t just the day. A huge positive note for this place was the service. Our waiter was polite and friendly without being overbearing. He kept our drinks full and moved our dirty played immediately so that we could be comfortable at the small table. Service always wins for me! Rating system: 5 stars = I’ll drive across town specifically for this, and rave to all my friends about it! 4 stars = Would recommend visiting. 3 stars = Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars = You might be able to drag me here. 1 star = I will not be returning.

Cha Cha’s fills a good niche in the tex-mex arena. Although most tex-mex restaurants have waiters, they’re usually too casual for anything other than an informal lunch. You’ll find mid-upper class restaurants downtown, but you have to deal with parking and logistical issues. Cha Cha’s is a local place in the suburbs where you can have a meal with a buddy you haven’t seen in a few years, have a going-away lunch, or a low-key birthday event. The food is consistent and the menu is sufficient.

What an awesome place. I didn’t know much about San Antonio two years ago. Though since then, my partner lives there and introduced me to Cha Chas one night. I must say as a world traveler and now part timer living in San Antonio on weekends only, I have found the closes restaurant to what I feel is authentic on all counts. Not only is the food excellent, but the classic margarita has me wishing for it during the work week while I am gone. Though the BEST thing of this establishment is the wait staff. The guys are amazing! They all are always so professional, attentive and actually know me by name and seem to be happy when then see me walk through that door. I wish every restaurant had a team like this. Whatever it is that management is doing there, it’s doing it well. Everyone seems happy to work there, be there and eat there! CPJ. Ps. my personal menu selections, which Pepe(both of them) know very well we order every time is the Flat Steak with Cheese and a pitcher of the classic margarita. That’s enough to keep me happy for 5 days LOL.

Me and my friend came on valentines day to try the margaritas and have dinner. I found the ad in the current and I saw all the rave about the margaritas so I bookmarked it and gave it a try. The ad in the current said if we mentioned the current, we’d get a free appetizer however, it was the Babcock location and not the Bandera one. It was pretty busy, it being valentines day night but the wait wasn’t too long. About 15 minutes I believe. They had a live group that sang slow love songs in Spanish at each table if requested like they do on tv. I get super stoked whenever I see tv things done in real life lol idk why. The restaurant has a nice authentic feel to it and the staff is very nice. I ordered a plain margarita and my friend got the cranberry one. I will say they are very good, the ice is really soft and smooth unlike the crunchy kind you get everywhere else. I’m going to return for happy hour that’s for sure. The food was good, the menu is so over priced tho. I think I’ll stick to the drinks next time. I ordered the puffy chicken tacos and that came with rice and beans on the side. Definitely a place you’d want to come to for margaritas, you won’t be disappointed.
