Chachos is awfully great, emphasis on awful, but still 4 star– worthy IMO and here’s why: It’s afterparty food for all ages. For the young crowd with their annoying metabolism they have nachos, oh boy do they have nachos. For the bar hopping folks there are plenty of greasy, sloppy(no really, order a burrito or anything ‘sloppy’ that means smothered in queso, ‘double sloppy’ is asking for a heavy soup ladle of queso and chili con carne atop your burrito) that’ll work just fine soaking all those jack & cokes. Speaking of, show up early enough and there are a few frozen drink machines; jack & coke, piña colada, flavored margaritas. There’s a drive-thru for those hungover mornings that require breakfast tacos, but they have a pretty impressive salsa bar inside though(and the frozen mixed drink machines.) The cons to this place are that it’s generally always dirty(floors, tables, patrons) but if you want some damn good homemade tortillas and have a good immune system, go for it!

Visiting town and in the mood for local restaurants, drove by this place did a u-turn and decided to try it out… OHMYWORD! Delicious! Beef fajita nachos are full of meat and the burritos are HUGE! Quick customer service and free chips for all customers. Great salsa bar!

The only reason I won’t give this place five stars is because I have to be honest. The food is amazing. However, it could be a lot cleaner. When I visited the had one poor bastard picking up all the trays and cleaning all the tables. There’s no time for anyone to clean the floors very often, let alone notice that the men’s bathroom ac vents area buried in dust. That said, if you’re like me, from the east coast and love finding hole in the wall, mom and pop places and can get past what’s mentioned above, this place is a diamond in the rough. Make sure to get their top shelf Margarita. You won’t be disappointed.

The greeting when you walked in the door was welcoming, however the restaurant was dirty and unkempt. Ordered anyway. Top shelf margarita made the experience fuzzy and fun in spite of the gross ladies room and dirty tables and chairs. I could see the this place as a main destination for an afternoon lunch buzz and midnight heartburn.

Three stars for the very nice and humble people that work here, the good sweet tea and the awesome Caesar salad. Two stars off because it can be cleaner and not everything is exactly delicious. To drink order either the jack and Coke frozen drink, piña colada, margarita or the awesome sweet tea. To eat I would order either the chicken Caesar salad(my favorite!) the nachos of course or the crispy chicken tacos. Now don’t order the kong nachos unless you have 7 other people to help you finish them. The employees can help guide you on what size to order. The beans are very flavorful and cheese is also up to par.

We heard great things about the nachos and frozen margaritas. The drinks were ok but the nachos are terrible. The portions are enourmous but that’s the only positive I can give you. The chips are so thick it’s like chewing leather. The cheese is eqauly disgusting with very little flavor but you’ll get about 3 lbs of it on your chips. They have a warning on the menu that says«items with beans in it may contain small rocks». WTF why would rocks be mixed in with beans? Needless to say we’ll never go here again.

Going thru the drive-thru.be patient. Very Slow. The speakers need replacing. Terrible smell all the time. Often wonder if the health dept. Ever checks the bathrooms. Food is good though. If you overlook the smell, and don’t use the bathroom.

Great atmosphere and the water was absolutely amazing. We will definitely be back for the water. Perfect level for the ice to melt as you drank so as to be a perfectly chilled beverage through the entire course of my drinking experience. If you want a beyond par glass of water with a gorgeous condensation sweat that’s borderline erotic, then this is the right place.

Hadn’t been to this place in a long time and now I remember why. There was a group of us and the cashier was trying to «save us money» by explaining to us that it would be cheaper to buy fajitas by the pound instead the fajita plate with two tacos each. Anyway the total didn’t seem right and they charged us different prices than what was on the menu! When we told them about it they refused to fix it and told us that prices are subject to change! Are you kidding me! So people watch your totals before you pay because the prices you see on the menus are misleading and they will charge you whatever they want!!! The beef fajitas were tough, the only good thing was the side of potatoes but they aren’t worth $ 30.00. The place is super loud and people were smoking, saw a lot of kids but I don’t think it is kid friendly. Better food and service up the road on Bandera.

I first off received the wrong order called to let them know they tried to convince me that’s what I ordered regardless of what I paid and the ticket number in my hand. The manager I then proceeded to talk to insisted that there was no such thing as a Gm or a manager above him so naturally I’m thinking well how does that make sense. After being hung up on 5 times. This Chachos is the absolute worst!!! Any other one yes they’re great that’s Why I continue to go back But this one clearly has incompetent managers and a staff that doesn’t pay attention to the food that are putting out. This is the location off of Bandera

The food is not consistent. Good days. Bad days. What is consistent is the dirty floors and bathrooms. When a restaurant is as busy as this one, one would think that management would get a fresh coat of paint, some disinfectant, and some new tables and chairs. We waited 30 minutes for our food and had to go back to get the fajita taco they forgot. I was hungry. Was happy that this time around the flies were on vacation.

In spite of Chachos having some of the most disgusting bathrooms, my friend and I went out of hunger and convenience. It took about 30 min to get our food on a Sunday afternoon. My friend’s order was in complete, my enchilada was an orange glob of goo just slathered on there, and the flour tortillas(which) are usually delicious) sucked! Not a good experience. This franchise needs to invest in replacing their raggedy ass, ghetto chairs and tables. Plus they should invest in some pine sol or fabuloso to clean the hell out of their restrooms!!! I don’t think I will be coming here again. This place is severely overrated!!!

Picked up lunch here in the drive thru. The food took quite awhile to come out. We ordered a chicken combination lunch special, beef fajita lunch special. We have been here several times and the food has gradually gotten worse over time. We got home and opened our bag and our order was completely wrong. My wife called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. She stated they were out of rice which no one told us when we were waiting in line at the drive thru. The manager listened to our concern and said she would correct the mistake.

I love their chilequile and egg tacos and their pancakes are huge for $ 3.99 for two. Such a good place to go for breakfast food during non-breakfast hours.

If you want to eat were«the locals» eat, start with Chacho’s. Be warned if you’re looking for the glitz and glamour catering to the rich and famous this is NOT the place for you. If on the other had you desire large portions served up homemade tortillas or chips then visit Chacho’s! Ever ordered nachos without enough cheese? Not a problem at Chacho’s, you’ll run out chips before you run out of cheese. If you have an appetite for destruction try the Monster Kong nachos. Just to let you know you’ll need the O-Line of UTSA to actually finish them! Don’t worry it’s not all nachos and fajitas the Tortas are delicious and they even have salads! Need tacos? They’ve got tacos for days. If you need a cold beer or Margarita to go with your meal look no further. For something different order the frozen Jack and Coke, yummy Yep, Chacho’s is the go to Tex Mex spot for this San Antonian.

To be honest, I can’t consider this Chacho’s anything less than 10 steps ahead of all other Tex-Mex eateries on SA’s Northwest Side. Its biggest advantage hands down is food taste and quality… flavor game is strong here… fajita seasoning phenomenal. And should you change your appetite last-minute, the China Bowl Express right next door offers fantastic cooked-to-order Chinese food. Rating specifics(i.e. 1 – 5, low-high)… Overall recommendation = 4; Food taste and quality = 5; Portion size = 5; Price = 5; Restaurant atmosphere = 4.5; General service = 3.5; Waitstaff amiability = 4; Location and/or first impression = 3.

I used to love this place back in the days and always told my friends how much I loved Chacho’s so today I decided to drop by the drive thru. Well, today they officially lost a customer and fan. First off I had to wait 25 minutes in the drive thru for a bowl of menudo, carne Guisada plate and 10 tortillas. That’s it! 3 items! 25 minutes?! Ridiculous. I was tempted to drive off but they already received my payment. And then when they did give me the food the guy was just going to give me the menudo. I had to ask for the rest of my order. Seriously did he think I was waiting 25 minutes for a bowl of menudo? And then they still messed up my order, no flour tortillas and no salsa! And my menudo didn’t come with anything. They’re supposed to give you lime and onions and most times cilantro. Nothing! Plus the food just didn’t taste the same. This place has gone downhill. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Bye Chacho’s it was nice knowing you. I’d rather go to Taco Cabana and that is a sad sad thing.

Stopped in on a Monday night for a bite. Parking is easy, drive thru available. It was our first time there, the guy taking ou order was very helpful. There were two of us and we ordered the medium piled high nachos and a crispy beef taco. Once the good is ready, they call your number and you’re ready to eat. There is a salsa island with avocado salsa to habanero, limes and cilantro etc! Great choices. They’re known for their margaritas. Top shelf 1800 to jack and coke. Try it! Large seating area with garage door walls that can be retracted. Multiple large TVs with sports! Nachos have a side of guacamole and sour cream. Nachos are made with chips piled on one another, held together by beans, then meat on top then smothered with shredded cheddar cheese then the entire thing is placed in the oven until the cheese melts. It was a lot of food but was average. There are tons of beans, cheese was average. I think it would’ve been better with a cheese medley. Chips were certainly piled high. Felt kinda disappointed. Taco was surprisingly good despite its’ feeble looks. Meat was rich and shell was crunchy. Add some salsa and you’re good to go. This was a good choice. Overall, I’ll be back for the tacos and margaritas. Not so sure about the nachos. Kinda forgettable. Probably better to grab the nachos after a night of partying and you just need something to hit the spot.
