It is what it is. I have a slight pizza obsession and after the one in Austin shut down, this location became my new one. First, I’d like to start by saying YOUAREORDERINGPIZZA at, key word here… MELLOW mushroom. So yes, everything is chill, super relaxed, the wait for the pizza is long, but hey this isn’t little Caesars people. I have been here over 5 times and leave with a happy food baby. My go to is half mighty meaty paired with buffalo chicken. Bacon and meat is flavorful! Only one ranch is necessary for about two to three people by the way… they’re pretty big! Now let me tell you a little about this pizza, the slices are BIG! A normal person would understand that one slice equals about two regular slices of pizza. A pizza lover doesn’t discriminate against any slice… even at copious amounts of crust. And for those of you who complain about wheat, gluten, tofu, vegetarian… I was a strict vegetarian for 5 years… no milk, cheese, or anything that touched meat. Unfortunately we live in San Antonio and NOTLA or NY where it is easy to dine as a vegan: vegetarian so get over it. You accept the lifestyle so accept your limited options. If you want good pizza, chill environment, and don’t mind waiting while you can enjoy a beer, then I would really recommend this place.

We visited Mellow Mushroom for lunch today. We got the Make Your Own Pizza — large, red sauce, fresh mozzarella, extra mozzarella, shaved Parmesan, mushrooms, steak and salami. We call it the steak bomb — in honor of my East Coast husband’s favorite sandwich. Yum! Nom! Delicious! Amazing! None of those describe this pizza well enough. The pizzas here are practically art, totally edible art! As our previous experiences at Mellow Mushroom, the hostess and wait staff were amazing. Friendly and passionate about their eatery. We ask our waitress if she had to choose would she do the Muffuletta bread or the Mini Munchies. She told us the Mini Munchies. So we got them as an app. Totally worth it. Crostini with mozzarella, pepperoni and basil. Yum!!! We even had an opportunity to spend a few moments with the owner in a great conversation. If you haven’t been, go. If you been, go back. This is the best pizza place in town! Stop reading and go! Now! Seriously. Cheers!
