I have only been here once and I ordered to go. I order vegetable phở and dumplings. The wait time was lengthy, so next time I will call ahead. As I waited numerous people were picking up their to go orders. A regular had nothing but good things to say about the place. They have a big variety and even vegetarian items on the menu. I was satisfied with my soup and will return. I live close by and am anxious to try the other items on the menu. I do recommend and will return.

Ordered the tangy sesame chicken with an egg roll and sweet and sour soup. The soup is fantastic and the chicken plate was good. Great service and nice ambiance. Will come back again for sure.

Sweet n sour soup is so good. All other food is so bland. And, they are very stingy with food, sides and condiments. Like they don’t want to waste. OCD for real.

We recently moved, and this great little place is right by our new home! We loved everything we got there. I was really hungry and ended up getting the cream cheese puffs, cold summer roll, and chicken phở. It was all really good, and I stuffed myself. My boyfriend got the Saigon lo Mein, and it was incredible. i was actually jealous that I didn’t get that. But I remembered this place is so close, I can always get it next time. The people working were super nice and made sure to refill our water and check in on us. The restaurant itself was very clean and tidy. Will definitely be going back again!

We’ve been coming here for almost two years. They don’t even ask me what I want — my favorite is the Vietnamese egg roll noodle bowl. Fresh mint, cucumber, carrots, lettuce with noodles and plenty of cut up egg rolls. Perfect every time. Fish sauce on the same. We love this place. I’ve tried other noodle bowls in town and can’t find anything close to this. Prices are very reasonable too!

It was one of those nights where the hunger sets in all of a sudden and literally the first place you see is the one you go to. That’s how we ended up at Savor Fare. There is nothing enticing about the outside of the restaurant, but once inside it’s really cute. Calm and quiet. We ordered and our food was served quickly. Our waitress was so nice to us even though she spoke little english. I only tried their phở. There seemed to be quite a different flavoring in their soup as those that I’ve had at other asian restaurants. I still enjoyed it though. If I am ever in the area I will go back.

Food taste and quality are top-notch at Savor Fare — everything, from their soups & appetizers to noodle bowls to entrées, is as refreshing and tasty as the restaurant’s name itself. However(and this is a rather hefty however!), portion sizes are generally skimpy for the prices they require. I mean, even with their lunch specials, it’s an upcharge to add a meager bowl of soup to your entrée, and yet another upcharge to add something to drink other than water. Nice, Savor Fare! Nice. With that said, I can’t stress enough how ‘clean’ and ‘bright’ Savor Fare’s food is. Crazy depth of flavor here… try any of their soups(my favorite go-to’s their hot-and-sour), or maybe their Spicy Tangy Sesame Chicken, or even just a Noodle Bowl Salad. It’ll blow you away how their simple fish sauce can drastically up the ante of whatever you pour it on. Crazy. One last thing worth noting! Atmosphere is great. The restaurant is squeaky clean, well decorated(NO overly tacky Asian theme here!), and nicely lit. A smooth soundtrack rounds everything off, providing ideal digs for either a lonely eat or a cool date with your special friend(s). Just keep in mind that they’re CLOSEDBETWEEN2:30AND5PM! Rating specifics(i.e. 1 – 5, low-high)… Overall recommendation = 4; Food taste and quality = 5; Portion size = 3; Price = 2.5; Restaurant atmosphere = 4; General service = 4.5; Waitstaff amiability = 3.5; Location and/or first impression = 5.

As someone who has tasted almost everything on the menu, let me just say that everything is delicious or it would not be listed. Also, anyone who has been in this business this long and comes to work every day, opening their doors to the public, to serve, when they don’t have to, deserves nothing less than 5 stars. These people love what they do. Take my word for it, the Saigon Soup is to die for, and the Almond Stuffed Shrimp appetizers are to write home about. Not only that, but you can watch the Spurs play while you are enjoying a cold 33 import. (and yes, for those of you who don’t know, this place is authentic Vietnamese, blended with 25+ years of American culture.

Best hot and sour soup in town! Everything is delicious and made in the restaurant not out of a frozen package.

Soups are delicious. The place is small but quaint and the family is very nice. Will have to further explore the menu.

I live close by, and wanted to give this place a try. I grew up eating Asian food… and i cook Asian food all the time. Let’s just say im surprised that this place is still existing. On the positive note, their décor and service were decent…

I agree with below review(wish I read it first) Overpriced dumplings with little or no memorable goodness. Decore is nicely attempted, but the place is small. Too small for my tastes. Food is not bad/not great. Its very standard for this area. Waitress grabbed our dipping sauces/mung bean plate off table while we were still eating. That gets an immediate loss of a star and reduction in her tip… Some daters might like the darkish tiny surroundings. We prob. wont be back.

The food is very fresh and full of flavor! I wasn’t expecting this place to be as good as it really is. I ordered the chicken sate with fried rice and was very impressed with how tasty and fresh the vegetables and the food were. The jalapeño cream cheese puffs are also delicious! I will definitely be returning.

Meh, meh, & more meh. Food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t out of this world either. If I HAD to go back, I would, but I don’t care if I ever do kinda thing. Try it, but there’s better… The restaurant itself is nice & clean; it was very warm temperature-wise. They had the front door propped open so not sure if there was an A/C problem or a «save money» thing going on. An astute observation: the chairs are HIGH… no biggie, but, felt kind of strange upon first sitting down. You get used to it. Service was nice & prompt enough. Seems to be family run. We went on a Saturday for lunch & were the only table in there… two more tables trickled in before we left. We started with the dumpling appetizer… sorry I forgot to take a pic of it, but they looked unlike any dumplings I’ve ever seen: 6 very small dumpling bites with what looked like rice paper over the top. The pork inside was quite good & I liked the sriracha & soy dipping sauces. BUT, almost $ 9 for 6 tiny azz dumplings? Nah. There’s better dumplings just down the road… We each had a lunch«special». The menu is very odd, as mentioned by other Unilocalers… the meat & rice is priced«well» at about $ 6 – 8, but then they charge 50 cents extra for soup and/or an «egg roll»(really, spring roll). So it actually ends up being closer to $ 10 each. Not really a great«lunch special». I had the Mongolian beef. Good. The fried rice was the best part of the meal… it had a nice crunch on the outside & a very nice toasted flavor. Skip the egg/spring roll… nothing to write home about. The portions aren’t big, but not small either. The final tab for 3 of us during lunch special? $ 40 with tip… kiiiiiinda pricier than we expected & I’d say not worth it. Oh, and I saw a table BYOB!

On a whim my husband wanted to stop and try this place and I was glad he did! We almost didn’t notice it because it’s tucked away in a small strip mall and has, I feel, a small sign that is easy to overlook. Inside the décor is so cute. I loved the tiles on the ceiling and the paintings. Their menu is extensive and has phở, steamed fish noodle bowls, and even more traditional Chinese fare. I opted to try the clear noodle soup and was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t just noodles and meat – it had a nice amount of vegetables and crispy noodles. My husband had the phở. It was more peppery than what were used to but good nonetheless. The price is outstanding for dinner and the waitress was attentive. A great deal overall!

The atmosphere here is very asian with black laquer chairs, black tables, and darker walls. It is small and cozy, about 10 tables. The one young lady in the establishment was friendly and her service was quick. I went in right at the end of lunch time and most people were finishing up. Now I ordered Hot N Sour soup. It was a bit on the sour side, and hot, but in the wrong way. It was so steaming hot, that I had trouble eating it without burning my tongue. There was not enough hot«spice» to offset the sour. And I have a very tolerant tongue. I was still working on my soup when my plate of garlic chicken and vegetables arrived with steamed rice. It, too, was very very hot. It too, was not spicy hot, which is very disappointing. Please don’t say Spicy next to a dish, if you don’t follow through with the hotness. The bell peppers were fresh, but not sure about the mushrooms and the chicken. The steamed rice wasjust how I like it, a bit sticky so that one can use chopsticks. The chicken was very rubbery. Maybe it was frozen at one time or re-heated? So, yes, a disappointing lunch at a loss of $ 10.00. Yes, I did tip the server well.

Good food and reasonably priced. Quit small inside so it fills up fast. Portions are good, but not as large as other similar places. However, if your not out to gorge yourself it’s good. ;-)

Is Savor Fare an authentic Vietnamese place? I really have no clue but what I do know is that I was served fresh, tasty food by a super sweet server and walked out feeling satisfied which is what I want from any place I go to. Originally planned on Thai Topaz for lunch on a Saturday but someone came up with the dumb idea to open at 5pm on Saturdays so we ventured a bit further down Huebner to Savor Fare. Their menu had«Lunch Specials» for $ 5.99 but I didn’t get the set-up. It had the entrees listed but above it had fried rice, eggrolls and soup for 50 cents extra for each one. Pretty sure that’s not a lunch special, just an a la carte menu but whatevs, I was hungry and wasn’t about to talk nickle and dimes(or quarter to dollars) with them. For appetizers I usually go with any kind of rolls but decided the pan-fried dumplings were calling my name. Probably the best decision I’ve ever made. They were perfect little bites of goodness and came with soy and srichacha dipping sauces that I drenched them in. Went with the walnut shrimp entrée with fried rice and egg drop soup. First, the soup was unlike any eggdrop I’ve had before, it had this tangy lemongrass note at the end that made it much more interesting than the usual. The walnut shrimp entrée was just ok, tiny baby shrimp in a sea of celery but the fried rice was the star of the dish. It was sticky, flavorful and piping hot, I could just imagine curling up to it on a cold, windy day. Not bad priced(however it was calculated) with our total for two lunches and an app coming out to $ 24, I’ve added a new restaurant to places to frequent for Asian food.

I’m actually taken aback with how surprised and satisfied I am with the food at Savor Fare although I haven’t tried enough of their menu items to say that all the food here is great. But what I can say, from what I’ve tried, it was delicious. Let’s start off with the appeal of the restaurant, outside appearance, some might have a sense of reproach, but inside — it’s a different story. Compared to other small Asian restaurants around Texas I’ve been to, Savor Fares’ interior décor and cleanliness far exceeds its competitors. The store is very clean, nicely organized, and the art decorations gave a subtle Asian flare that gave the restaurant class. As for the food, it delivered in flavor and appeal, but probably lacked in authenticity when it came to the menu selection. I ordered the Spicy Lemon Grass Chicken with Onions(without peanuts) and I’ll tell you, I was utterly satisfied with my meal. I absolutely loved and appreciated the fresh grilled flavor they were able to get on the chicken and onions. The heat level was controlled nicely and it brought that element of spice I wanted without ruining the palate. Finally, the cilantro that was used as a garnish helped tie all the flavor in together and really just added another great and familiar flavor. After trying this dish, I am eager to go back and try the other offerings this restaurant has on their menu. Last, but not least, I must comment that the service was great and the owner was very friendly and helpful. I’m a bit surprised that this restaurant is not getting the attention and crowd it needs. With that said, I recommend you, my fellow Unilocalers’ to try this tiny restaurant located on Huebner and Eckert!

I came in here for dinner the night before Thanksgiving 2011. I was visiting from out of town and thought I’d check out how Vietnamese food was in San Antonio. When I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, I look for communion — someone to speak to in Vietnamese, maybe a chance to pick up on some gossip — but this place definitely caters to the non-Vietnamese crowd. My waitress was Chinese and there was no Vietnamese on the menu. While these are not really criticisms, as a Vietnamese person, I get a little suspicious of a Vietnamese restaurant with no Vietnamese servers(I realize how ridiculous that sounds, but it’s how I feel). Also, I expect for there to be Vietnamese script on the menus. Or alternatively, the English on the menu needs to be descriptive enough for me to know what I’m ordering. Alas, with the menu just in English and none of the dishes referred to by their Vietnamese name, I was at a loss on what to order. It was such a surreal experience. In any event, I ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork(described on the menu as something like«noodles with pork») and everything worked out. The fish sauce was a little off, but the flavor of the pork was authentic. Given the lack of Vietnamese people in San Antonio, the food here was pretty authentic for what it was. As for the physical space, the restaurant was tastefully decorated with nice tables and art on the walls that invoked Vietnam without being tacky. There was also a decent selection of wines. My only real complaint is that chopsticks were not given to me with my meal. When I asked for them, I was given disposable chopsticks, the kind they give you with a take-out order. This place really needs to invest in real chopsticks, but other than that, I enjoyed my experience.
