This is my new favorite Vietnamese place! I had the rare steak and beef brisket phở. And let me tell you, it was fantastic. It was delivered piping hot to my table and the meat was still a little pink in the middle. Just perfect! I also ordered the shrimp rolls. My boyfriend loved them because they were, «super fresh». The restaurant is really clean and the waitstaff is super friendly. I recommend this place for a great lunch or dinner.

Decided to visit this Viet place around 9:20pm on a Friday night since I left Houston late and was starving for some food, this restaurant was super close to my hotel so I came right over. Boy I have to say I was pretty pleased with the place and the food. First of all I have never been to a phở place that brings up a small bowl of soup to start! It was tasty and warming to my stomach. Secondly, the place was super bright and clean, felt very comfortable to dine in. I ordered the soft shrimp spring rolls and a large bowl of Berni’s phở. The spring rolls were not rolled«pretty» but the shrimps were plenty, the rolls taste fresh and the sauce was awesome. As for the bowl, the taste was a bit lacking for my taste but nothing bad at all. I really enjoyed the food overall, oh did I mention you also get a small bowl of sweet taro tapioca with coconut milk for desert!!! I will be back if I returned to San Antonio in the near future. I would say the price of this restaurant was not the cheapest, but hey the food was definitely worth the extra!

Best Phở in San Antonio! I had the chicken phở, the chicken was cooked perfect and not fatty at all. The customer service was impeccable.

We’ve tried Vietnamese places all over the country because we travel full time in our motorhome, but this is one of our favorite Phở’ restaurants we’ve ever tried! Hubby and I have been trying to limit the amount of animal protein we eat, so when saw the«Phở’ — Tofu» sign, we made a quick U-turn to give it a try. We’re SO glad we stopped! The first thing we noticed was the cleanly decorated dining area and soft Vietnamese music playing in the background. Nearly every table was filled(always a good sign), but that did not stop the wait staff from providing us prompt service. Our waiter brought us menus and took our drink orders immediately. Within a couple of minutes, another employee dropped off two bowls of wonderfully flavored soup containing meat, veggies, and the clearest broth I’ve ever seen. It was a hot, humid day, so neither of us wanted to sip Phở’, so we started off with fried tofu spring rolls. The rolls arrived promptly and consisted of softened rice paper wrapped around freshly fried tofu, rice noodles, lettuce, carrots, and herbs. They were accompanied by a fairly light peanut sauce. YUM! We quickly downed the rolls and ordered Bahn Mi, since is was too hot and humid for Phở’. Hubby ordered the lemon grass tofu Bahn Mi, and I ordered the grilled pork. Both sandwiches were piled high with veggies, and of course the meat or tofu; both were served with a side of Vietnamese salad(shredded cabbage, carrots, cilantro, and green onions very lightly tossed in a sweet vinegar dressing). A small bowl of delicious sauce was served with each sandwich, to be used as a dip. The meat sandwich was served with a sweet, pickled fish sauce, and the tofu sandwich was served with a lightly sweetened soy-type sauce. Our waiter kept a close eye on our progress, and as we finished, he dropped off a bowl of warm, lightly sweetened, coconut-taro and tapioca pudding! I wish I’d had more room to enjoy it, but I did manage to eat a few bites! I don’t give a place 5 stars too often, but this place deserves every star, and then some! WOW! If you’re a fan of Vietnamese cuisine, do yourself a favor and don’t miss this gem! Carnivore or herbivore, they have what you’re looking for… and it’s FANTASTIC!

3.5 stars! My mom was craving phở and had heard about this restaurant from her friend. We arrived right at 12 noon for lunch but there was a closed sign on the door. I saw a group inside eating so I assumed they might be closed for a private group. Not to be denied, my mom went inside anyway. We found out that they had limited staff today but that they would still serve us. I’m glad my mom was persistent because it was very good. The restaurant is very clean and bright, and they play pretty music. I ordered phở #7 with brisket and meatball and my mom ordered #1 with rare steak, tendon, tripe and meatball. The meal includes a complimentary soup to start and a dessert. The phở was very flavorful and not fatty or salty. Nancy N’s review about the amount of meat is spot on. There was a generous amount in both of our bowls. I’m not sure what the purple dessert is but it was warm and sweet and I liked it. I’m no phở expert, but it tasted good to me and was a good price for the amount you get.

Best Vietnamese food ever had in San Antonio, great service and they also offer you a free cup of soup to start and sweet congee at the end! I would recommend this place

This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in San Antonio! I’ve been to almost all the phở restaurants in town and this one definitely beats out the rest of them in terms of quality and quantity of food, variety of drinks, cleanliness and friendliness of staff. They put extra thought into presentation of food as well which is a plus! Plus they also serve complimentary soup and a taro dessert after your meal every time. My only regret is that I didn’t find this place sooner!

I’m a very picky eater when it comes to Vietnamese food.(Probably because my mom is an excellent cook, and I find myself constantly comparing other dishes to hers whenever I eat at a Vietnamese restaurant.) However, the food here is very reminiscent of home. I love that the ingredients are fresh. I like how they serve a complimentary soup appetizer, and the yummy sweet che served at the very end of the meal is delicious. The lady chef here is a sweetheart who seems really passionate about the food she makes. Long story short, the food is a little pricier than other Viet places; however, the quality of the ingredients is worth it. I recommend their vermicelli bowls, I usually get the #21 combination with the pork and egg roll.

Have become a regular. They’ve increased the portion size options for the phó offerings. They’ve also introduced complimentary appetizer/dessert. Great place.

Nicely decorated restaurant. Was instantly brought out water and a bowl of pork and vegetable soup and a class of water. The soup was a delicious appetizer. Service was quick! Ordered a bowl of Vegetable Phở and they asked if I would like a beef or vegetable broth. I went with vegetable broth. It was brought out fairly quickly too! It’s was beautifully played. The Phở broth tasted very good. It was topped with large pieces of cabbage, carrots, onions, tofu, broccoli, and tofu! I also added the typical bean sprouts and cilantro then come along at Vietnamese restaurants in town. All which tasted fresh. Overall, the quick service, décor, and of course FOOD! Are reasons why I’ll come back. I see why there were so many people here during lunch!

Sometimes price isn’t justified by quality and this is a classic example. The food is pretty dang good. My wife ordered the veggie phở(w/beef broth) with extra white onion. The smell of the broth instantly evoked all that is phở and the taste was light, delicate, and flavorful. The portion size was also very substantial. However, at nearly $ 10, being that it was just vegetables in the phở, was steep. I ordered the combination flat noodles. Unbeknownst to me, the dish was $ 17 which, had I known at the time, might have left me not so enthusiastic about the dish. The noodles were nicely cooked with chewy bits, pan-fried crispy bits, spring onions, beef, chicken, and some other mystery meat. As I stated, it was perfectly delicious, but in retrospect, the portion size to price left me feeling a bit ripped off. We ordered up the Vietnamese sausage spring rolls for an appetizer. Each roll contained the usual spring roll items(rice noodles, carrot, cilantro) and two thin slices of Vietnamese sausage. They were very tasty, particularly with the peanut sauce. I told my wife that they tasted like Tim’s Oriental Market, which she instantly got. I guess you have to try them, and know Tim’s, to even fathom what it is I’m talking about… Overall, a decent meal but at an somewhat indecent price. There are plenty of fish in the Vietnamese restaurant sea in San Antonio and nothing in particular stood out to me to warrant their prices. Good service, very friendly, and a brightly lit dining experience await you at Berni Vietnamese Restaurant.

We came here for dinner. Our waiter was not very experienced or attentive although there were only two other people in the restaurant. We ordered some spring rolls — and they were nice enough to let us get one shrimp and one tofu. They were pretty good, although the peanut sauce was far too mildly flavored. My husband and I each ordered phở — I got tofu and veggie with beef broth and my husband got the filet mignon phở. The tofu was tasty but it was a super skimpy portion of it. Both of us enjoyed the broth although it was a bit on the greasy side(not too bad though). It would have gotten 4 stars from me… But we ordered some boba to go. We ordered one«winter melon» and one«passion fruit» flavored. They were both truly terrible. Way way way too sweet, somehow warm at the bottom of the drink?(They weren’t the blended kind) And all in all just had a weird flavored funk. My husband and I took about two sips each and didn’t finish them. They were truly terrible. I’m interested in trying their bahn mi but don’t have very much desire to come back.

This restaurant is so clean and beautiful. Natural outside lighting, clean and simple décor and just very pleasing. The FOOD … The PHO… Absolutely amazing, fresh and so flavourful. I came here with a friend today and we stayed for about an hour and the service was pleasant and fast the whole time. I really recommend this place to anyone who loves Vietnamese food or Phở… SO yummy! I ordered the brisket phở with crispy shrimp rolls as an appetizer. I definitely want to come back and try their spring rolls!

Not bad. I’m picky about phở since my mom’s is the best but I found this acceptable. I ordered the Berni(#1). It came with«filet mignon,» meatballs and tripe. I was impressed by the amount of meat they gave me. No other phở place in town has ever given me this much. The broth was ok to me, it was a little fatty and salty but on a gloomy sort of day, it was nice to have. The atmosphere of this place is great! The lighting is incredible! The interior is very clean and bright. What I loved was that the condiment bottles were also clean. The owners seem to really care about making a nice space. Service in general was average. The waiter didn’t hover and was nice.

Pros: — Different yet good tasting Phò broth. — Clean modern interior — Decent sized spring rolls
Cons: –Pricing is not portion appropriate compared other vietnamese restaurants. — No peanut sauce came with spring rolls — No Asian basil came with the Phò — No tripe came with the combination Phò orders I eat a lot of Phò and this establishment was a disappointment. They’re new and have room to grow and adapt. I hope to return and see things have changed but I promise that’s not going to be anytime soon. I suggest you to Phò plus of Austin hwy. Great food for a better price, never had a complaint there.

First off, I came to this place because I saw«eggrolls 2/$ 1». They were out of eggrolls. Minus a few stars for disappointment. The décor in there is nice. The service was good, and I had some kind of pork bowl that was pretty tasty. I usually judge my Vietnamese places by the phở and it was too hot that day to eat any, so I reserve the right to edit/update my review upon getting some phở and eggrolls. Definitely worth a try. But its a hard corner. Golden Wok-dim sum, Tommy Restaurant, Bombay Hall, and Berni on 4 opposite corners. This plays hell on your emotions when you’re hungry.

First off, the service was superb here. They were very friendly and attentive. I loved the atmosphere, very contemporary and very clean! And the food? Delicious. I’m a phở snob. I like the broth to be flavorful, noodles to be cooked just right and the meat and veggies to be fresh. They get an A+ on all the above. The phở broth had a great flavor, just the way I like it. The veggies that come with the phở, bean sprouts, basil and cilantro, we all very fresh. We started with the egg rolls, they’re not like the ones I’ve gotten at other Vietnamese restaurants but they were still good. I liked this place. If you like phở, I recommend dropping by and giving this place a shot. I’m seriously surprised they weren’t busier at lunch but I guess it just opened around July 4th according to other Unilocal reviews. I’m sure the secret will be out in no time.
