Super fun place. Everyone that works there is polite and friendly. Taco Land has gotten better and better. They have a lot of different things going on during the week and weekend. The best part about the place is that it is outside under a big oak tree next to the river and people are friendly. The bartenders make some awesome drinks. Food is also available. They have opened a new kitchen. The menu has tacos now. Yummy food. They have Karaōke on Wednesday, different bands and DJs that play throughout the week. The crowd is of mixed ages. Late late nights, over the weekend you get more of the younger crowd. It’s always a great time. Being new to SA its been a great place to meet new interesting people. I have met nice professionals and blue collar workers. Very diverse crowd. Also, different artists will display their art work which adds to the ambiance. There are bike racks which is always a plus and no cover charge most of the time unless they have a special event. Many people run the river walk and stop by for a drink. Dress attire is very casual during the day. Weekend, late evenings people dress up to come out. Super fun place. Very doggie friendly.

Great beer selection… craft and domestic. Their bloody marys are very, very good. Bartenders are friendly. Went on a Sunday funday. Kitchen has an excellent green salsa that comes with chips. The picadillo tacos are outstanding. DJ had a good music selection, oldies, 70’s. Inside the bar the music was hip hop, not my 1st Choice but I emjoyed it.

This was a pretty cool place. Went on a date here they had live music, I just had a blue moon my date had a Budweiser he didn’t want to try anything new so I just stuck with blue moon. I’d like to go again and try some better drinks. Great place to hang out with a group or listen to some music. It was right on the river walk, make sure to bring your bug spray and don’t go when its going to rain its all outdoors! The chairs with the backs on them were very uncomfortable, hopefully when I go back I’ll be able to change this to a 4 or 5.

Came one weekend with my boyfriend, sister and her boyfriend. We mostly came for drinks and weren’t disappointed! We enjoyed the atmosphere and most of all, the taco truck! We will be back soon!

We didn’t have any drinks but we did have dinner. They told us it was their second day of service out of the kitchen(not a truck). After a slight mixup with the order, the food came right out. The salsa rojo, verde and the queso that came with the chips were all well balanced, tasty and just the right amount of heat. The cucumber salad was tremendous. Only thing I thought was maybe a touch more mint but you wont notice. The mix of the crisp cucumbers and crunchy peanuts will please. We last had some asada tacos. They were tasty. The steak was cooked just right and the onions and sauce played of that little squeeze of lime I added. This would be phenomenal drinking food but I can tell it was fantastic sober. If we had ordered drinks I probably would have given five stars.

I like TacoLand or should I say I liked the old TacoLand. When I say OLD I mean the 2014 – 2015 revival of the original. Back in the«old» days you could walk in, choose from a good variety of beers or cocktail, mingle and overlook the riverwalk. Really comfortable place to hang out. Like everything else on the north end of the riverwalk it’s now really popular thus really crowded especially on the weekends. While that doesn’t have to be a bad thing and I’m sure the owner is delighted making trips to the bank the service is ridiculously slow. Worse yet being crowded now means that you must navigate through the hipsters who still think it’s cool to smoke. Seriously? I thought that stupid shit went the way of the Marlboro Man. It would be one thing if the cool smoking hipsters were relegated to the designated cancer area but that’s not the case. If you’re a cool smoking Marlboro Man hipster this is the place for you. The rest of us will just find a place that’s read the cancer reports and has respect for all it’s customers.

This is a great chill spot. They always have good music playing and they have a great beer selection. The giant oak tree makes this spot so unique and at night it looks amazing lit up. This is a good place for all types of people to have a drink and maybe even play some giant Jenga.

I was very excited to try this place, but don’t think I’ll return. My friend and I went up to the bar and it took a few minutes for someone to even acknowledge us. There were no other customers being helped so why couldn’t the 4 – 6 bartenders/employees help us? The woman who finally helped me looked surprised that I ordered a beer(at a bar!!) and was sorta rude. I got my drink but then then they ignored my friend who was right next to me. I even pushed her up to very front thinking maybe they didn’t see her. Several employees looked at her and just turned away. This place lost some money. We decided to leave instead of trying to beg for service. Quite disappointed.

The absolute best thing about Taco Land: Watching fisticuffs ensue just by uttering it’s name in public. The legend goes that on the 7th day, after God did the earth, sky, animals, etc He ripped the wings off an angel and sent him to the banks of the San Antonio river to establish earth’s first shitty dive bar and South Texas Punk Venue™. That angel’s name was Ram Ayala. For thousands of years, the greatest musicians humanity has ever seen played Taco Land. One day in 2005, much like Jesus Christ himself, Ram was betrayed by another human, suffered, died and was buried. And from that day forward, Taco Land was to lay barren, a desolate shell of cinder block buildings for tourists to urinate on. This was to be the reminder of man’s eternal struggle between good and evil, the war between skanking and ska, the duality of The Dead Milkmen’s joke songs that are TOTALLY. SERIOUS. And then one day 2014, nine years later… a mere mortal named Chris Erck dared to reopen the place to serve beer and play music once more. Across San Antonio Abuelas screamed out in agony! How dare anyone do anything aside from urinate on Taco Land??? Such a thing is the worst insult that could ever desecrate the memory of a man who sold beer and played music! From that day forward, a group of Abuelas made camp under the Grayson Street Bridge, saying the Rosary and praying continuous novenas that all who dare set foot on that sacred ground immediately die a horrible, painful death. Today, Taco Land is the edgy, hipster place to go when you are about $ 20 away from maxing out your credit card at Blue Box. The tap selection is broad and not as expensive as up the street. There is usually a food truck or two parked nearby for some eats as well.

What a cool bar. I look forward to my return. — here’s why: 1) Space — It is a decent size in terms of seating: bar stools overlooking the Riverwalk, picnic tables, solo chairs, and high tops offer an array of choices. The bar itself is maybe 10ft long. It wasn’t crowded when we went, but I wonder about busy nights. They also have hanging bike racks and jumbo jenga. 2) Food Truck — four words — soggy, greasy, French fries 3) Bar — There is a fairly decent selection of beer, maybe 15⁄20 with the classics(Stella, Blue Moon) and some local brews(512, Real Ale) 4) Transportation — We got here biking home along the river walk beyond the Pearl. As we were traveling near he end of the bike path, we passed Tacoland, and were entranced by the twinkly lights and he happy people. It is very bike-friendly and there was plenty of car parking spots on the side streets.

Not a single taco spotted — FAIL! But other than that, this place is pretty unique and fun. Worth checking out if you’re up for something different, outdoors and not too far from downtown or the Pearl…

Really good chill spot in downtown San Antonio. Open air bar with plenty of seating for large groups of friends. Good drink specials and selection of craft beers on tap. They usually have Mario Kart tournaments every Monday which are fun to participate in.

3.25 stars. The tortured history of TacoLand is of such a macabre nature that even Nic Pizzolato would likely visually shudder upon its retelling. After the brutal murder of the beloved previous owner and an equally loved employee, TacoLand, once a national institution for a smörgåsbord of up and coming bands and local talent, shut its doors. A little over a decade later, the site of the murder has been turned into a bathroom, and the concept of the bar has shifted towards craft beers, a serene view of the Guadalupe, adult Jenga, rotating food trucks, and surreptitiously powerful cocktails. Life moves on, but a contingent of San Antonio is extremely pissed by what at least at first glance could appear to some to be, at worst, an extremely tacky money grab, and, at best, an insensitive reorganization of one of San Antonio’s most important contributions to the Texas music scene. While it wouldn’t be fair not to point out why this bar is controversial, it also is only fair to further judge it by what it actually creates. In that regard, I can see why many people in San Antonio would like to be here. The craft beers contain an assortment of great selections on draft with price points so low it would make anyone’s inner leprechaun smile. The same can be said for the strong cocktails. Getting a significant buzz can be achieved here for well south of $ 20. While some may view adult Jenga as passé, its not something I generally find here in San Antonio. And while there might be some disagreement on that point, there can be no reasonable argument that the view from the patio is among the most tranquil one can find in this section of the city. I’m not sure how the previous owner would feel about this place. I didn’t live here at that time, and even if I did, that probably wouldn’t have been for me to judge. I do think that nothing short of creating an exact replica of the previous venue would satisfy old school customers of this bar(and even in that case some people would be upset). You can’t please all of the people all of the time, but I’m guessing the new iteration of TacoLand pleases its customers more often than not.

If you read into this place, it has history dating back to 1965. It was, in fact, originally a Taco Joint. It was changed into a bar in 1969 and became a place for aspiring bands to play. The likes of Nirvana and the Chili Peppers have played here. The owner was shot and killed in 2005 and it was closed for about 10 years. New owners have tried to capture its original style and flavor. Chill atmosphere, great music, cheap strong drinks, and bartenders that will take care of you if you take care of them. Yes there is a taco truck, but it’s nothing special, and is independent from the bar itself.

This place was definitely a fun night out. They were having a decent special on drinks and the Alamo Golden Ale was delicious if you’re looking for something a bit on the lighter side. It was also extremely dog friendly. We took our big pup here and the staff brought him a bowl of iced water immediately. The atmosphere is very chill– typical outdoor, hangout, drinking type of venue with giant jenga and live music. You’re also extremely close to The Pearl and the river walk if you’re looking for multiple things to do in one night. The only reason I don’t give them full stars is the street parking situation. Don’t get me wrong– there was tons of parking within walking distance to the venue– however I don’t think I would consider this the safest place to park a car. I’m not sure whether they were bike cops to keep the area a bit more safe, or just parking security to keep everyone in line– either way they were out in full force circling up and down the street. I’ve gotten a ticket for parking within 20ft of a crosswalk before down here… so just watch yourself downtown! I digress, this place was a fun night. And relatively cheap! Highly recommend.

Since nothing was open today, I found this spot on Unilocal but nevertheless, it was the most confusing looking place. I didn’t come for alcohol. I came because of the misinformed name ‘Tacoland’ I thought this was going to be a variety of items but I was very much wrong. There was only 3 choices of tacos. Fake ones. The guy at the Taco Truck was rude as F**. He couldn’t understand what we were saying so he constantly asked us if we were drunk or if we’re hungover. What’s it to you whether or not I was drunk? Was I stumbling around with a slurred tongue? No. I was speaking in perfect English & if you don’t understand that, you need to get yourself a hearing aide. I have come from a line of Hispanic families & I have never seen anyone make a taco with big chunks of dry meat &BBQ sauce with nothing else. Do you know what a taco consists of sir? Obviously not. $ 4 for ONE tasteless taco. & by the way, the $ 12 plate of ribs? We all took one bite & threw it out. It was the most disgusting tasting rack of ribs I have ever had the privilege of eating. Never again.

TacoLand is everything I love about San Antonio night life culture. It feels like your in your backyard just chilling with your friends, having a few drinks, but the river is in the background. I feel like all these folks complaining about the beer prices are being dramatic, like I’d cast them in a Shakespeare tragedy. I saw the menu and the beers that I would drink were priced perfectly. The staff was really nice to me. The place is dog friendly. To top it off they have Mario Kart. Thats right, Nintendo 64 Mario Kart, for free! I had what they called illegal lemonade, it was delicious. I tried two different flavors and they were both great. Priced at $ 4 you got my business. $ 5 Margaritas… Yes please! This is a cool laid back spot, the drinks don’t take 10 minutes to get, they don’t have basil leaves for garnishes. Pretentious drinkers need not apply, TacoLand is a place for folks to come relax, loosen their ties, and let down their hair. They have a rotating food truck schedule, giant jenga, bean bag toss, and I’ll say it again Mario Kart. It’s like being invited to a party. Come enjoy some drinks and good times. I know I will.

Dog friendly, people friendly, happiness welcome! Scenery is beyond words! Comparable to the great Eli Cannons of Middletown, CT… except more space, more parking„ legit the BEST mix OF that I have ever heard, …Sun is shining, sitting on the river walk, „ food depends on what food books the day. Turned on by how smart of a business idea this is. They should install elliptical ‘s so chicks can drink and work out at the same time.
