We were searching for a new joint to hit up. Our group was craving a good sandwich and Unilocal helped us find Giorgino’s. When a business proclaims they are the best at something, they set their customers up with high expectations. Our group arrived for dinner between 6:00 — 7:00pm on Friday. The place wasn’t difficult to find and we were fortunate to find parking upon arrival. Place wasn’t packed and there was plenty of seating. There was one customer ahead of us as we browsed the menu. Server was friendly and ended up ordering: Frings, a Reuben, Bell Steak, a Gaby Dog, and drinks. Our food arrived in a timely manner. I have to say that the Philly cheesesteak was pretty good. I can’t give it the title of being the best until I try more Phillys from other places around San Diego. The Gaby dog was good also, but it had too much mayo, mustard, and ketchup. Next time I’ll tell them to go easy on the condiments. My buddy JP thought the Reuben was just okay. He said Big Thyme’s Reuben is way better. Frings were pretty much standard. Of course I used the Unilocal check in and got a 10% discount. 4⁄5 — Food 4⁄5 — Service 4⁄5 — Décor & cleanliness I’d return to check out more of their offerings.

The only real cheesesteak I’ve found since I moved here 15 years ago. I originally found this place because they have Taylor pork roll sandwiches and tastykakes if you’re from PA or NJ you know what’s up if your from Cali give it a try you’ll love it. Service is great and the food is a steal for the quality. This is my favorite lunch spot hands down.

I ordered 2 sandwiches and my total was $ 17. And that was with the 5% discount, since I paid cash. Nothing wrong with the price if you’re getting a premium sandwich. Thats a restaurant price, even though is not a restaurant, more like a fast food place. Based on the décor and the fact that you have to walk to the register to place your order. Well I assumed since it wasn’t a restaurant but they charge like one, the quality must compensate and would be premium. Also I assumed that based on their reviews. I guess I either have very high standards or people don’t know what good food is around here. My chimichurri sandwich was the worst steak sandwich I have ever had! The chimichurri was essentially pesto, and the steak incredibly thin, almost like roast beef. And super dry! The bread was cheap and soggy. Rather than a mini baguette which is crunchy on the outside. What should be used on thirst types of sandwiches. My girlfriends chicken sandwich was almost ground chicken, had more onions than chicken. Honestly, the steak sandwiches from the food court at the mall are better. At least they give you real steak, sliced grilled chicken, and fresh baguette bread.

Great little neighborhood cheesesteak shop. Never too crowded, great service, large menu, and yes, an amazing cheesesteak. Perfect ratio of cheese to steak, and a great sized portion. Pesto fries are pretty delish too ! And their beer is cheap compared to a lot of other places. I only wish their TV worked a bit better– it’d be a great place for game days otherwise!

Best cheesesteaks in San Diego! I’ve tried several places in SD and this is by far the best. Good ratio of meat to bread. I suggest the Chimichurri cheesesteak!

Why are they perfect? Simply because it’s hands down the best place to get a classic Philly cheesesteak in San Diego. The steak is quality, the cheese is Cheesy, and the fried dishes is Crispy. These guys know Philly cheesesteaks. When a business goes out of they way to get Tasty Cakes in their establishment, you gotta give em some authenticity cred they are the Hostess treats of the East coast. Wash it down with some decent selection of draft beer on tap and you have yourself a comfort meal. WHATTOGET THEWORKS(With Wiz). Onions and bell peppers are caramelized perfectly with the Steak and the the bread is just your classic fresh hoagie that makes for the softest and most delicious Bite. Goes great with onion rings or garlic fries. My preference and always a good mix. MAYBENEXTTIME I saw another patron recieve a meatball sub and I almost took a bite out it. Overall I say yes to this place purely based on the consistency of quality and friendly service at this neighborhood go-to. DO-IT

As a food junkie I often find myself with cravings and desires to find«the best». This place fills that craving for the best Philly Cheesesteak around! The customer service is also great and you can call ahead. It’s not cheap, probably $ 15 if you get a large sandwich and drink, but free refills. The hot wings are good too :-)

Never had a cheeseteak before going to this place. My coworkers and I were trying to order for delivery but they only deliver in south park and golden hill area. So when we googled the directions it was only a 7 minute drive and decided to make a to go order. Amy was very helpful on the phone and was accommodating enough to make sure the order was hot and ready when we arrived at a certain time. When we got there we were confused on how to enter because one door had exit only and the other said accessible… anyhow we found our way in to the restaurant. One side had a bar where you order and pick up, the other side had more seating. Paid in cash and got a discount, sweet! The bag was hot just like she said it was and the sandwiches were still hot when we got back to the office. Talk about a nice cheesy gooey sandwich and it tasted great too. One of my coworkers said they put more meat snd better taste at this place then they do at original Ginos in Philly. Now that’s got to say something.

Food here is delicious. As someone who used to live in Philadelphia, these cheesesteaks are the real deal. I love«the works» sandwich. Cheese is perfect. Flavor is great. We also ordered the onion rings today with the spicy ranch on the side. Onion rings were crispy and fresh. Really enjoyed. Service was good. I got a free soft drink bc I ordered a sandwich and a side. No complaints. Prices are reasonable. I’ll definitely be back!

Delicious cheesesteaks and garlic fries! The bread for the cheesesteaks were very soft and warm. I really liked this shop, it’s close to the San Diego airport and even though it’s a little hard to find I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick meal.

Mario, To respond to what you stated, as I previously mentioned, not everyone wants to have to comment on their food at the time it is placed(for various reasons). If it was not edible, I would have said something at the time. If you had not asked me about the fries, I would have just dealt with it. As I am sure you are aware, there are various reasons for Unilocal. You can have your opinion on the purpose of it. But, I also have my opinions. However, in reading some of the other reviews on here, it appears that other people have commented on a few of the things I had mentioned in my 1st review. Yet, no changes have been made by the restaurant. For example, it is very odd that there are not any prices anywhere in the restaurant or on your takeout menu of the items that you offer in the restaurant. I am not the only one to comment on this fact. So, I do not know why you seemed surprised with my 1st review. As far as what I ate and how much I ate, clearly, the wall that separates the other side of the restaurant is not clear. Otherwise, you would have seen that I only ate half of the sandwich and half of the fries. Also, you would have seen me having to ask for another white cover to wrap the sandwich. And, to clarify my previous reviews, clearly, I meant I had not eaten canned mushrooms on a philly sandwich(as I had already mentioned that I liked canned mushrooms). Usually, when a restaurant states something has«grilled» anything on it, it means that that is their method of cooking the items. However, the canned mushrooms are already cooked and do not need to be «grilled». So, it was surprising when it came out(as I have never been given canned mushrooms when a menu has stated grilled mushrooms). These are my opinions.

Not to far off the freeway, friendly service, and for the quality of the cheesesteaks reasonably priced. You’ll find places that give you more quantity and possibly for a lower price, but this has a pretty good balance for cost to quality. The cheesesteaks were fluffy owing to the quality of the bread. The beef was not overcooked and the toppings did not overpower the sandwich. The chicken soup was interesting. A very good stock. However, no noodles. Yet, it wasn’t advertised a chicken noodle soup, so i shouldn’t be surprised. Would come back again, wish I had taken the time to come here sooner.

Clearly, if you love any combination of meat, cheese, and carbs, you won’t be disappointed with Giorgino’s. Service there was top notch, and the cheesesteaks came out drenched in yellow gooey goodness. I’m not kidding – this thing was filled to its toasty brim with cheese! They aren’t shy about the grilled onions either. They have 6 beers on tap, all reasonably priced. Plenty of seats inside and out front as well. Pay with cash and you’ll get $ 1 off each beer. I wouldn’t hesitate to return & I’m glad I found out about this place!

This place is fantastic and I am thrilled to live within walking distance. Service is super friendly and they are right next door to a taco shop so when my boyfriend is craving a burrito it’s no big deal for me to head next door and get a turkey sub. I am a sandwich junky and would prefer to eat sandwiches for every single meal! I love their Italian Sammy but turkey and provolone just hits the spot. They used quality dietz and Watson meats and cheeses along with perfectly fresh amoroso rolls. It’s weird but the highlight of these sandwiches is actually the chiffonade of ice berg lettuce and thinly sliced white onions drizzled with Italian dressing. Yum, I could eat one right now! Their Ceasar salad is also super yummy and I like that they have fries and onion rings if you want to round out your meal. This place is not just for Phillies! Something for everyone. Looking forward to our next visit.

I’ll be completely honest here. I’ve eaten — no, devoured — a lot of cheesesteaks in my life. That holy combo of bread, cheese and savory meat first perfected in Philly has been my mistress for just about as long as I can remember. Every cheesesteak I’ve eaten has been compared to those before it. I’m here to tell you that Giorgino’s makes one of the best versions I’ve ever tasted. My buddy Brad brought me here and we bellied up to the counter. My expectations were high considering my lifelong addiction. I ordered a regular cheesesteak; there was no need to fancy it up. After all, if they can’t get the basics right, they already have problems. It’s like building a house on a faulty foundation. The bread was soft yet crisp, the cheese was perfectly melted and the meat… oh, the meat. It’s like it was seasoned by angels. It was a giant sandwich, yet I felt like I could have thrown down another if it were put in front of me. All during our visit the counter gal(sorry, name escapes me) was friendly and chatted us up. The place wasn’t too packed for an early lunchtime visit. If I ever return to San Diego, which I most surely will, this will be my number one stop. Keep doing what you’re doing, Giorgino’s. Don’t let anyone tell you you are anything less than beautiful.

UPDATE! Mario is still at the helm and Giorgino’s is still knocking out great sandwiches. This review is specifically for the club sub. The club sub: loaded with ham, turkey, bacon, white cheddar cheese, red onion, tomato, lettuce, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper, Italian dressing and seasoning, this is one of the best cold sandwiches in San Diego. Believe me! The bread is perfect, the ingredients are balanced and the true star of the show has to be the finely shredded and lightly dressed lettuce. Lettuce the star? Yes, I don’t know what it is, but it is what really makes this sub sing. Ringing in at just over $ 8.00, this sandwich is worth every penny.

It’s a decent place to go to if your craving a philly cheesesteak. I ordered the works philly which included mushrooms and pepper. Added cheese whiz for another $ 1. Meat was delicious and seasoned. Garlic fries could use more crispness but it was tasty. While the food is decent, the customer service is lacking. No greeting whatsoever. The menu had no prices during my visit because of upcoming price changes yet the cashier seemed rude when I asked about it. Waited 20 mins for sub on a day that wasn’t even busy. Only one person managing the orders with few cooks I suppose. I can see with this place gets popular with some many sandwich variations but I’d still stick to ganglions bros for my philly fix.

Sooooo much to choose from! But since it was my first time here, and I have driven by a zillion times, I went for their signature cheesesteak! Very very tasty! Grilled onions and melted cheese… delicious! The partner had the chicken pesto which he said was really good as well! I can’t wait to come back and try that! They have beer and wine and soft drinks. Dining room is pleasant and it can get a little loud. The workers were very friendly and check on us as we ate. Again, a great little place near my hood that I have overlooked. Street parking and those annoying bike racks across the street taking up at least three spaces. Definitely check them out either for there or to go. I’m going to add this to our rotation! Can’t wait to go back!
