Came in on a Friday night, maybe 11:00. Plenty of seating, which we got quickly. It was crazy loud, which we didn’t love but it’s a bar so… The service– eh. Very underwhelming. Our ‘waitress’ spent a lot of time upstairs. We waited 20 mins for drinks, finally went to the bar. For not being very busy the service wasn’t good. She was nice, and her assless chaps were a hit. Tried it, who knows if we’ll be back.

YESYESYES! This place has a badass vibe! Their nachos are $ 10 and freakin’ amaaaaaazing. The service was superb, the music was loud, they have beer pong — I’m sure this place gets poppin after hours. Can’t wait to come back again

Love this place for drinks and hanging out with good friends. The service is great. When it is packed on a weekend evening I still had no problem getting a drink. Perfect location and I always bump into people I know when I come here, so I’m not the only one that thinks it is a good fit in the gaslamp.

Decent food that is a little pricey. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere. It looks amazing and has a great layout. Free pool, free beer pong and free shuffle board. They only have one pool table and one shuffle board, so I can only assume if it gets busy it would be difficult to get. The customer service was really bland, waitress acted bothered and didn’t want to be there. If this place had higher quality food and drinks for better prices I’m sure I would go out of my way to go there more often.

Sarah made the worst drink I have ever had. I order a Moscow mule and got some sort of lime water. Everyone else who ordered also received the weakest drinks we have ever had. It wasn’t even busy…

Very nice bar with a mixed crowd. This bar plays good music and also in between sets they allow people to get up and karaōke. Very nice and spacious bar with interesting décor. I especially like the Jack Daniels chandelier. So why 2 stars? We came here on a Wednesday night and the bar wasn’t busy at all, we were served right away. I ordered a jack and coke, my friend an IPA and my other friend a Vodka tonic(their $ 5 special) We witnessed her pour all our drinks and my friends Vodka tonic was made with some low grade vodka but when we got our bill the server had charged him for an Absolute Vodka. How sneaky! We were all sober and just wanted a nice night cap after dinner. My friend felt weird calling her out on it, had I known prior to him paying I totally would’ve called her out on it. I don’t appreciate sneakiness. Better double check your bill and bank statements to make sure they don’t add extra tip at the rate they’re going, I wouldn’t be surprised. I won’t be back.

While visiting San Diego, we were lured by a convincing cowboy to check out Lucky Bastard’s during our Gaslamp tour and boy, were we glad we did. The place is spacious and plastered with flat screen TVs everywhere. The service was on point and the food was just so, so good. We had a pizza with eggs topping. Never thought those two would work so well together. But I’m glad we tried it. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in town again.

Fun name to this saloon and with added entertaining benefits, such as pool tables, beer pongs(impressive) and shuffle boards! They have sports’ channels too! It’s wide and spacious with comfy booths upstairs. Food is available! A good bar experience — for the chill ones, bar hopping ones and for everyone, I would say.

I’m not a gaslamp kinda girl-I prefer my racetracks and patios and beaches up North. Every once and awhile though, I required to head to the heart of downtown SD for an event and end up in a gaslamp bar or two. After a friends Bday dinner nearby we went over to Lucky Bastard, and I was pleasantly surprised! It’s totally chill, with bright red booths, flip cup, shuffleboard and pool. OOO, and ass-less chaps. You’re welcome. The drinks are typical downtown prices and the crowd was the usual, but it has a pretty open roomy atmosphere, plenty of space and high ceilings. There was an 80’s cover-band playing love who were pretty good and our servers didn’t leave us hanging. I’ll have to spend another night or two there to decide if I really love it-but it took the sting out of the normal tourist filled traps for me-and this local broad counts that as a gaslamp win!

There’s really no reason to ever come here. It’s a giant, Gaslamp bar… I guess, for tourists? Or college kids? I don’t know. I’m old. The only reason I came was because I couldn’t find ANY bars with open seats during the US World Cup game vs. Portugal except here. We ordered chicken nachos and while they were pretty tasty, the portion was way small for how pricey it was.

Great place to hang with friends. Also a place to make new ones. The chicks are cute, foods great, great cocktails and free sanitary beer-like pong table. The rest rooms have an attendant which means they are super clean. The only downside is that I get freaked out knowing someone is outside the door ready to turn on the faucet and squirt soap in my hand. I never go to the bathroom with my bff because I can’t urinate with someone so close. Anyway, great place especially for the sports fan. TVs everywhere! Hockey and basketball games along with the ticker of the draft picks this week! Thank you for the memories

I teetered between giving this place 3 stars or 4… I’m gonna go with 4 just because I like giving nice reviews and this place really wasn’t all that bad, it just wasn’t anything special and service was fair but not great. I will say, however, that my Cherry Martini was WAY strong!!! So if you like strong drinks then maybe here’s your place. People were eating, drinking and having fun, definitely a happening place in Gaslamp! Love the name too. I spoke with a man next to me at the bar that said we should come back for the food… so my review is really just on our drinks and drink service. Maybe next time I’ll have the food and try a different experience, but there was nothing«over the top» special about this place really but it was a friendly, nice place. Worth another trip. :) CHEERS!

I’ve been here twice now and both times were just ok. The first visit was the weekend before St. Pat’s and we stopped in on a bar crawl. The specials were great, but the service was TERRIBLE. It was so slow. I understand that it was a holiday weekend and that makes things busier, but we waited about 15 mins before a server approached us and eventually decided to just go to the bar ourselves. When she finally did swing by, she seemed rather unhappy that we already had drinks. Not cool. The second time we visited was this past Saturday night. We stopped in to grab some food around 8:00pm. It wasn’t busy at all and the server came by fairly quickly. After that, we just ordered water, one beer, and one soda(table of 5), and that took about 10 mins. We ordered our food(pulled pork sandwich, 3 pizzas, and a fish sandwich), and it came out surprisingly fast which was great. Here’s where they lost major points: My fish sandwich was a disaster. I’m including photos. I don’t know what type of fish it was(menu didn’t specify), but it was barely there. It was the thinnest, smallest piece of fish I’ve ever been served in a restaurant. I was starving and didn’t want to wait for another dish so I ate it anyway, but I was extremely disappointed. How can you charge $ 12 for a piece of fish that probably weighed less than an ounce? Due to this last visit, I doubt I’ll ever eat here again. Not even sure if I would come here to drink again to be quite honest. Not worth the lousy service and subpar food.

The pepperoni cream cheese pizza came as a suggestion from the door chick party because I couldn’t read the menu… What a suggestion, outstanding and a hafta try choice! Excellent service and plenty of eye candy… Amanda my Server was exceptional in many ways. Nice job satisfying this bar and resteraunt critic!

A beautiful day in San Diego found us on the patio of Lucky Bastard Saloon, in need of a beer and snack. Our waitress came up to the table and took our order(fried cheese curds FTW). As she turned to walk away, I was shocked to see her wearing chaps with no bottoms. Apparently this is a thing here, but I was unaware when I got there. Different kind of place than I expected. The beer was priced fairly reasonably and the cheese curds were delicious, but I put this place in the category of Hooters – places I’m not really comfortable being because of my crazy opinion that it’s not really cool to objectify women this way. But, as an old teacher used to say, «It takes all kinds.»

Not having TV and no Oscars party at any private venue, a friend and I decided to check what bars in Gaslamp could offer this show. We went to a couple of places but we were not very convinced, too crowded and people not really interested on what the screen had to offer. So after walking a bit we ended up at the Lucky Bastard Saloon, almost empty, which was great for us! I was reluctant to enter at a place where women have to show half ass while working(honestly, this place is awesome and I also like to dress sexy and chic, but having the waitresses dress like that is derogatory to women. Why the men working there are not showing their assets? Not that I would like to see that, I find both ways are sexist ways to catch the attention of usually male customers). That aside, we were very warmly greeted by the hostess and we could choose to sit at the bar or at any red colored plumply booth. Initially we choose the bar, because of the cool saddles, but my butt started to be uncomfortable after half an hour, so we changed to a booth and enjoyed a great show and attentive service. I have to say that the TVS are awesome(sooo many TVS, so awesomely new and great image quality, and no noise from other customer) and the hostess accommodated the channels for us to watch the Oscars instead of sports as usually they do. I found this very nice touch. We had a couple of beers, a coffee(yes, you can order coffee here!) and pizza that was nice yet not remarkably special. Prices are normal and atmosphere was incredible, with enormous effort put in the design and creating a cowboy-industrial-cozy ambiance in the 2 levels. Another fun touch is the bathroom, you can choose to open the Bastards door. Of course I went to the Lucky Bitches instead. Check out that Jack Daniels based chandelier!

Food and drinks are pretty standard. Waitresses are also very attentive. Place can get pretty loud and crowded when it gets later though. The restroom is downstairs near the entrance, so if you are sitting in the back at the tables, you’re going to have to squeeze through the crowd in order to get to the front. They only have one pool table and one BP table so the line is super long! Sometimes people even cross your name out if you don’t pay attention to the games! Probably won’t come back again hmm

One bad thing about Unilocal is that you can’t really categorize you reviews precisely, it’s not the first time I have this issue. I mean, I didn’t try any food, I basically went there for the«bar» part on a Saturday evening to meet a bunch of friends. Of course I did not know the place I’m not from here and I did not check beforehand. Right. Now you know the foreword. What went wrong then? First, he music was very loud and the table does not give you much flexibility so you can only talk to the person you close to or you have to shoot, that might be OK but it’s not amazing if you want to talk. Maybe I was mistaken and this is a club but I did not really see any dance floor and no one was really dancing. Thens the service was quite poor. I ordered a beer, to stay simple, but I had no info on which they would bring, I can accept that since I have no clue anyway. But the said draft beer was not amazing. Prices are regular though. Second problem was when we asked for the check, it seemed very difficult for the waitress to hear it, then she brought a single check but we wanted to pay separately. Should not be so odd, right? She took away the check and brought back six single ones, well, maybe that’s common practice here, but it took ages. Not a place I would return to. Or maybe to check the food?

I enjoyed my visit here, not only because I was well taken care off by a well seasoned bar keep Natalie,( ) but because they make a very good breakfast too. Natalie, who is a transplant from another San Diego establishment, and who I have had the pleasure to meet, provided excellent service and well tuned and relevant conversation. Although not offered, she made a tall glass of iced coffee with a shot of milk, that I very much needed on a warm Sunday morning.( ) Well done. For breakfast, I ordered the vegetable omelet, give the day before I had eaten a pared of meats at a local Unilocal Elite event. The omelet came with a side of tator tots, which was bliss because, I love this those.( ) The meal was $ 10 and the coffee $ 2. The omelet was quite good. It was well executed and with the right amount of seasoning. I like it when they put on a light brown crust on the omelet’s egg portion to give it a little extra texture or spring in its step, so to speak.( ) The white cheddar was very good. It had a slight sharpness to it and helped with the balancing of flavors of the omelet.( ) A little more cheese would would of made me more of a happy camper. The tator tots were bliss, and if they would of grated some of that white cheddar a top, they would been elevated to a new level. They came with a golden brown perfect crunchy exterior.( ) Seasoning was spot on and aggressively so, for such a treat. I enjoyed them with their house made salsa which was mild in flavor and in heat.( ) If you are a lucky bastard like me, you will receive excellent service from an alluring young lady, and a pleasant meal that will hit the spot for the day. Oh yes, be aware of the eyeing moose on the wall…( )

We were thoroughly disappointed with the service here. My gal pals and I headed into Lucky Bastard Saloon for a Friday night bite to eat. We were seated quickly, but it took a while for anyone to come by and acknowledge us, so a manager-like gentleman came by and took our drink order.(Please keep in mind there were a fair amount of people there, but it was not overly crowded enough to merit that much of a wait.). After the gentleman took our drink order, our server finally came by and tried to take our drink order… yeah… Things were just a little out of sync. I think the aspect of our experience that really ruined it was the lack of friendliness from our waitress. I can’t say that she was rude, but she was not personable or friendly at all. She spent the shortest amount of time at our table as humanly possible and hardly made eye contact or smiled during any of her encounters with us. Her lack of attentiveness and her unfriendliness made us feel like she thought we were a waste of her time. We felt very unwelcomed there and contemplated leaving right after we placed our order. We stuck it out, but probably would have been better heading somewhere else. The food was alright. I ordered the BBQ Chicken pizza. We found the happy hour advertisement to be misleading as their«happy hour specials» chalkboard/website advertised«$ 6 pizzas.» I’m no linguist, but«$ 6 pizzaS»(plural) would lead me to believe there would be multiple pizzas(if not all the pizzas on the menu) to choose from. In reality, the cheese pizza(singular) was the only pizzaS that was $ 6. Better yet, that cheese pizza wasn’t even on the menu. I felt we experienced a mild case of false advertisement. My friend and I were disappointed enough by our experience to talk to a manager. I appreciated the fact that he met with us, but I don’t feel he was really moved to do anything to solve the bad experience. He asked what he we’d like him to do to make it better. I had no idea what would be appropriate… comp our bill, Free appetizer next time, Chargers season tickets??? It probably would have been more helpful for him to offer something rather than making us choose. I told him that listening to us was enough. He said he hoped we’d give Lucky Bastard Saloon another chance…(insert opportune time to offer us something free next time we came… nope, missed opportunity.) So, long story short, I don’t think we’ll be coming back.
