This place had a really good burger, they had what seemed like a decent business plan? They even had frosty mugs of beer, it was very, vey clean and the service was straight up and everything was consistent. Salads, burgers, beer… why in the hell did they shut down? the business crowd, the mall workers, the mall customers, good foot traffic right above the Levi store? Really weird… I get the economy, but it’s hard to believe a place of this quality couldn’t make it, does anybody know why? Just curious? These guys should do burgers at the little Italy Farmers Market, and show burger scrounge what’s up! O’brothers, don’t give up your dream.

Sad to hear(from the reviews on Unilocal,no less!) that this gem has closed it’s doors for the last time at Horton Plaza. Hopefully it’s a problem with the location only. Maybe they couldn’t pay the rent or something else was the problem. By far the best burger I’ve *ever* had. I truly hope that they get things back together and open another location somewhere else in San Diego. Amazing food, great beer, and a great vibe. If the owners are reading this-job well done. You’ve proven that commitment to quality and fresh ingredients doesn’t have to sacrifice taste or be overly expensive. Don’t give up-come back to us even better than before. Until then, you will be missed.

I was looking through my uploaded Unilocal pics and realized that I never wrote a review for O’Brothers…only to find out that they’re CLOSED?! So sad. I loved this place. We walked past it a few weeks ago(but didn’t look in) and vowed to eat there the next time they’re downtown. =( Food and service here were great. Hope that I’ll get a chance to eat O’Brothers burgers again someday.

I really enjoyed this restaurant the one time I got to go. Delicious quinoa burger even without the gluten free bun. Does anyone know if this place is CLOSED ?(would make me very sad if so) The last two times I’ve gone this month at prime-time lunching the chairs have all been flipped up and no note. When I tried calling the number it has been changed.

The veggie burger was great(almost as good as Burger Lounge) and I love that they don’t charge extra for avocado. Other than the veggie burger, though, the fare is pretty standard. The fries were good. I wouldn’t recommend the onion rings; they put some sort of bread crumbs on them instead of battering them… when I order onion rings, I’m expected batter-laden unhealthiness. Also a little over priced: about $ 23 for two burgers with fries/rings, a diet Coke and a water. Next time I’ll just order the veggie burger.

I came here with a friend who really insisted on trying this place. I just got the regular hamburger, and it seemed to take them a lot longer than expected to get them to our table, considering there were only three other people besides us, who were already eating. I thought the concept of organic burgers was pretty cool, but my burger seemed to taste like any other burger I’ve had. Now don’t get me wrong, I like burgers, its just that this burger didn’t really have any WOW factor for me. I did enjoy the vinaigrette salad and that probably had to be the best thing on the plate in my opinion. I believe it had red leaf lettuce, arugula, and some other leafy greens. The décor of this place is pretty good, but I can see there being trouble with seating on crowded weekend nights. I think they tried to maximize tables by sticking two tables right next to each other which makes sense, but doesn’t do much for privacy. All in all, an ok place to go if you’re in the mall, but I wouldn’t make a special trip just to come here.

Mouth-Watering Western Burger. All Organic. Inside is two bread crumb covered red-onion rings, crisy bacon and melted swiss cheese. They also use garlic spread on their buns. I swear that was my idea. I am absolutely in love with their BBQ sauce. flavorful and not too thick. All burgers come with a salad. I come here frequently specifically for this burger. They give you plenty of fries when dining in and your food is brought on beautiful dinnerware. It gives it that gourmet feel. The service here is always good and the ladies working are veerrry nice to talk to. I checked in on Unilocal and got 20% off my order. That’s like free fries!

HEADSUP: best burger in SoCal!!! after a long day of shopping the only thing that gets me through it is knowing i can feast on the best burger I’ve ever put to my lips. the meat is so tasty and it doesn’t even feel like a regular burger. its light and fresh and my tummy felt so good afterward that i even went to try on more jeans. it didn’t weigh me down ATALL. the sweet potato fries were divine as well! the hot sauce is always hot and the waitstaff is suuuuper friendly. the chefs are some of the best chefs to be found. they’ve really got a good thing going here. you can also buy tee shirts like the waitstaff wears. we bought three of them just for good measure :) seriously, don’t go anywhere else for your all American fare. this is as good as it gets! great oils used, low on the bad stuff, high on the good stuff!!! the Western burger is the best *wink wink.

Getting it right is so hard but not for the staff at O’Brothers as I found out for lunch today(Tuesday, October 12, 2010). Friendly staff and a simple to follow menu. Drink selection includes Mexican Pepsi and Coke(both with sugar and NOT High Fructose Corn Syrup), other Mexican sodas such as Jarritos Strawberry, Organic Tropic Green and Organic Black Iced Teas, Honest Ade Lemonades, Maine Root Beer, and of course the American Coke products and their High Fructose Corn Syrup family including Sprite. I had the Big O’s burger which includes organic beef, bacon, onion, cheese, and avocado with the best tasting onion rings($ 2.50) I’ve had in a long time. I ended up buying a 2nd plate of the onion rings and an additional plate with french fries($ 2.25). You can watch sports games at this location as well as listen to music(which today was mostly 80’s). A satisfying lunch with a great view across from 225 Broadway, the address of the San Diego NBC News affiliate. I hope to see this restaurant in Seattle and Bremerton, WA and in Austin, TX.

The burgers/food are a 3.5 stars but because the happy hour made it half off it got bumped up to 4 stars. Burgers are quite yummy and satisfy a hungry stomach, but they’re not the best burgers I’ve ever had. Ambiance is casual and seating is somewhat limited. You order at the register and they serve you once you sit. Staff are friendly but can get easily overwhelmed when there is a crowd. Don’t expect prompt water glass refills. However, they do make a hefty filling burger but if it wasn’t happy hour, I probably wouldn’t go there. I had the Big O Burger, which was quite yummy. I’m a sucker for avocados…

While wandering around the Gaslamp District, Horton Plaza beckoned and the Fab Finds flyer found its way into my hands. We stopped by to check out the advertised Mo’ Mondays promotion. Burgers are 50% off between 5pm-8pm every Monday. Organic burgers? Sounds fine. Half off organic burgers? Now you’re talking! We ordered a hamburger($ 7.25) with extra tomato and onion and a Western Burger($ 8.25)(cheese, bacon, onion rings and BBQ sauce) with tomatoes and extra onions, both cooked medium rare. The burgers took a little longer, because they had a bunch of burgers already on the grill, set to medium, so ours were«special order». Delicious buttery toasted buns. Mmm. No extra charge for extra tomatoes and onions. The tomatoes surprised me, being full of flavor. =) Yay! Side salad was drenched in dressing. =(Boo! Fries were delicious — crisp shoestrings, perfectly salted, tossed with fresh chopped garlic and sprinkled with parsley. Yum! The manager was helping out, clearing tables. I was in line to order our second burger and I saw him take my water bottle with our empty plate. The water bottle was half full… and there was still someone sitting at my table, but he didn’t say anything to save my bottle. =(When I got to the front of the line, I spoke up and the manager didn’t even remember collecting a water bottle from the table(like 3 minutes ago). He was very gracious though and replaced it with a fancy bottled water for which they charge $ 1.50! =) I almost forgot to mention, the burgers are amazing. Not as good as Chez Maman in SF, but that’s an $ 11 hamburger, and an entirely separate review. =) I don’t know what people are talking about when they say the serving is small. When we got the burgers, we were amazed. We just paid $ 11.50(with tax AND tip on full price item) for ALL of this??! Score! We walked out of there STUFFED, stomach stretching stuffed. The quality is definitely there too. =) I heart Mo’ Mondays. If we lived in SD, we definitely would have gotten the deal $ 9 for $ 25.

I was recently visiting San Diego, since I was staying downtown I decided to try this place out on a recommendation. The place is located in Hortan Plaza, so it gets busy for lunch, but I didn’t have trouble finding a seat at the counter. It’s kinda cool since you can see the cooks cooking the food. Kinda showy in the way they cook. Before sitting down I ordered at the register and ordered their famous«O Burger». The first thing I noticed when I picked it up was the grease. Way too greasy. This place is all about organic, but the greasy feel took away from that. The second thing I noticed was the garlic, both in the burger and fries. It was just too much. It almost over powered the food. Even with these two missteps, I thought the burger was OK, but nothing special. If I’m ever in the mood for a burger and I’m in Hortan Plaza, I’d probably give one of their other burgers a go. Would I go out of my way to come here, most likely not.

Mondays= 50% off burgers; 5pm-8pm Everything is organic. Organic burgers?! sounds EW… BUT… I ordered the hamburger and it was GOOD! The meat is very juicy and it comes with sides of either salad or fries. I got the fries and the fries includes some garlic and parsley which made it even better! Will I come here again? for sure on ½ off MONDAYS. other wise. the burgers are pretty small… therefore I’m a bit hesitant in paying it’s regular price.

Meat speaks for itself and the side salad actually makes you feel like you are balancing all that red meat with the right amount of roughage. I like the toasty bun and you do cook it perfectly. Fries are seasoned with the the right amount of garlic. Makes you think how Gordon Bierch gets it wrong. I wasn’t needing the altoid, just a little organic wine. BTW, I like the tile in the bathroom. Monday night 50% burgers– WHOOHOOO with parking in Gaslamp, this is the deal of the Quarter. Now if I could only find my car ???

This review would have been much better had I only ordered the fries. Those were delicious — crispy and covered in garlic(which I, of course, adore). However, this review is predominately about the burgers. This is not the worst burger I’ve ever had, but it’s far far faaaaar from from the best. It is pricey for its size, is heavily doused with mustard(which, for some reason, did not match ATALL with my burger), and near flavorless. My meal didn’t taste particularly unhealthy, so that’s a plus. And I actually enjoyed my side salad. Another plus. But I was sorely disappointed by my burger. Oh, and the organic cola had me in tears. Not of joy, mind you, but of sadness and regret. I also asked for a water, and the server said«okay!» She then proceeded to wait by our table for the next order. And then the next one. And took more orders, And stood around. Finally I made some sort of comment saying she failed and sucked for not bringing me a water. Lo and behold, here comes one. I don’t know if she heard me or what, but by that time the damage was already done, and the food had already been eaten. :(

This place was so yummy!!! First of all, when you see a place that is serving organic products, you should know that the prices will be a littler higher than those of like McDonald’s and Burger King! Second, it’s in Horton Plaza therefore they have a great location which also means, prices will be a little bit higher than normal. Third, the place has a trendy feel to it so not only are you paying for great tasting burgers, you’re also paying to eat in a clean place with great people! Continuing on with my review: I got The Big O’ which came with cheese, bacon, avocado, tomato and onions! It was SOOO good! Very moist and very medium rare like how I requested! It was so good!!! It also comes with a side salad too! Dressing was awesome!!! My boyfriend got the Western which came with onion rings, bacon, cheese and homemade BBQ sauce! Super good too! We also got sides of the onion rings and fries! Honestly, everything was so good! The onion rings were fried to perfection and they used sweet red onions too! The fries were so addicting! They had bits of garlic in em! MMmmmmm!!! Not sure what everyone is talking about with the portion being small. My boyfriend and I both agreed that it was pretty big. We both couldn’t even finish all our food! He finished his but was stuff, I was sad and I had to throw some of mine away cause I was too full! Really great place! Great food and great service!

I thought the burger from here was mouth wateringly delicious. Organically raised beef paired with fresh fixens on a warm Kaiser roll is the name of the game here folks. If your looking for a great lunch or dinner that caters towards the healthier side of your burger craves O’brothers is worth tangoing with the dread Horton Plaza parking lot to check out. This being said, I’m gonna go out on a limb and compare the burgers from here to the idea of me having children at this point in my life. Here are a couple of comparisons I have made… 1. Like kids these babies are little. About maybe half the size of a burger from any of the powerhouses(Rocky’s Hodad’s) around town. 2. They are really cute and fun. Besides being little they are presented well which almost makes you want to give it a hug before sinking your teeth into it. They’re also really delicious and fun to eat because they throw a party in your mouth and everyone is invited. 3.They are made with all natural ingredients and are served with a salad so you could probably eat one of these a day for the rest of your life, and live a relatively healthy lifestyle. Like my future spawn I’d do anything for that. 4.Finally, they are really expensive. Plan on having to make sacrifices to other facets of your lifestyle to afford these. While about 10 bucks for a burger(with no fries or drink) doesn’t sound extremely steep, refer to comparison number 1. It’ll make you realize that to adequately satisfy your hunger you’ll probably want to eat 2 or more totaling who knows how much dinero. In conclusion, I loved the burgers from here but I’m just not ready for the sacrifices I’ll have to endure for the commitment of +$ 20 meals in order to be full. When I’m rich and a ready for that it’ll be just the 2 of us. I’m going to add 1 additional star for free wifi, and friendly service.

I’m not sure if it was the alcohol that made me think the burgers were good or if they actually were. Along the same lines of Paula D. the meat was tasty but a little undercooked, next time(if there is one) i’ll be asking for medium instead of medium rare. We came here for the Happy hour which was«sliders and fries» for $ 5. The«sliders» was basically 1 burger cut into quarters and the fries were very good. Salty just how I like them. Overall, good place but not any in-n-out. Best thing about it though is that they do serve beer!

I have been by O’Brothers several times and hadn’t been able to stop in and get my own opinion of their food. Since, it seems that there are a few harsh reviews on here. Anyhow, I didn’t want too heavy of a meal. So, I go the veggie burger and mixed green salad. Unlike other burger joints they don’t give you a gross gardenburger patty and call it a day. Instead they grilled up some cheese and avo and stacked the veggies high. It was really tasty. PLUS, they let me try some fries. Whoa… topped with a cheesy/garlic. But, not over-powering. Topped off with a Honest Tea-I’m a happy camper!

Still 4 stars for this place. I have to admit, it’s a darn tasty burger… and it’s juicy. They have a special on Monday nights where all burgers are half off from 4−8pm(I think — might want to double check the time). That’s great because otherwise, these burgers are way pricey. They also have happy hour specials on other days of the week. The people who work here were super nice. I look forward to going back on a Monday for more delicious burgers! Can someone place what that interesting spice is in the burgers? I swear it’s like cinnamon or something. I love it. I usually get the regular burger but my bf loves the one with avocado. I tried the one that has bacon, BBQ sauce, cheese, and onion rings and really did NOT like it. The onion rings were good on their own, but all the other stuff on it blocked out the good taste of the patty.
