I was here last week and met the guy himself, Nunzio! Unfortunately he gave me a bit of bad news. This place had been closed for awhile and I was trying it finally because of the Unilocal raves about Nunzio and his pizza. Nunzio told me that I had walked in on the last day of business. The place is soon to become a taco shop. We had a nice discussion over a couple of slices each and Nunzio told me he plans to go back to Brooklyn Pizzeria on Mission Gorge so I’m sure I will be stopping there at some point in the future. The pizza was very good — I had the pepperoni special but there were plenty of other great looking pies. Nunzio says he loves to create new pizzas when he gets an idea to try something new. He said the owner of the place was not a good businessman and thinks he can do better with ANOTHER taco shop rather than New York style pizza — I love taco shops, but does San Diego really need another one? Oh, well… Nunzio may be gone from here shortly, but he’ll be around! Nice guy!

So I open my Unilocal inbox and had this gem waiting for me: YOURMANHATTANGIANTPIZZAREVIEW Maybe if you werent so rude to the workers on the phone maybe they wouldnt be rude back ever thought of that. you have to show respect to get respect. Do you even know what its like to run a bussiness i dont think you do. when you get a a big order at the last minute and the customer needs it at certain time. its hard and plus who are to crtisize the worker for saying f you to you when you were giving him a hard time! I know this because i know man who you were speaking too and he doessnt say that unless the customer(you) gives him a hard time! Learn to be more nicer i can tell u right now any other place you go to and act like that they will throw you out!!! I KNOW I WOULD! Your delevery that you ordered that never showed up wasnt the cooks fault so dont take it on him!!! He does the best he can & and he has the best pizza you will ever eat in your entire life time. so you will be missing out on good pizza. go ahead and stick to pizza hut and dominos because its obvious thats what your used too!!! DELEVERIES!!! YOUIMPACIENTBAFOON!!! DONTYOUEVERBADMOUTHMYFATHERAGAIN!!! HEARME!!! YOUHAVEFURIATEDME!!! Followed by: he was also working by himself no one was helping him so keep you big mouth/trap shut you are better off that way trust me They really seem like a great group of people at Manhattan’s Giant Pizza. Intelligent and classy, just the kind of folks i like making my pizza.

very good pizza, order from there a lot. I actually just went to Manhattan nyc and tried the real thing, this place is identical. the only bad thing is that they can be busy for delivery sometimes. the food makes it worth it though.

Being from Long Island and Manhattan I know a thing or two about good pizza. This is the best in San Diego! Great price and a taste so great that you will not believe that you aren’t in New york. I am so grateful that I can get my home style fix of pizza, without having to get an airline ticket. Try this place– you will be so happy that you did!

East Coast pizza, thin, great crust. We moved away from Bronx Pizza and was looking for a good, East Coast style pie, one with a thin crust and large floppy slices. This place is it, next best thing to Bronx without the drive!

After a check on Unilocal my roommate and I decided to try this place out one random Friday night. The crust was good, the sauce yummy, the cheese delicious, and the toppings – oh God those were great. I ordered the Manhattan Special, which was delicious, and the crust was really good too. The guy at the counter said his name was Sid, so give him a shout out from Unilocal if he’s there. It wasn’t mind blowing, but it was good pizza, and at the end of the night that’s everything I wanted!

The sauce: phenomenal The quality: fresh, homeade, nothing frozen The crust: unbelievable The fact: locally owned, notcorporate, no bullshit The taste: phenomenal Nunzio, the main man: knows how to tell a story and make great food. LOVE this place, love his personality. The scene: not overly hyped, easy part of town to find parking and pretty laid back. This is a simple, clean place, nothing fancy, just tasty. The attitude: lots of family pride, tons of New York attitude and immense loyalty to the customers that leave their baggage at the door. Enjoy the best pizza in town here. Stop in, relax and I promise you won’t have just one slice.

Lately I have been going to this place more often and without a doubt this is my favorite pizza in the area and the best by-the-slice place in San Diego. It’s not fancy pizza with unconventional toppings and fancy presentation. It’s just good pizza. This place is now my neighborhood pizza staple.

I love Manhattan’s giant pizzas! Sometimes I am craving one of those giant NY style pizza’s and they totally satisfy that craving! I first tried them out when I lived in La Mesa and they always had quick delivery service and their food is fabulous. They have great pastas and salads. I also really enjoy their family owned restaurant style business. I just made an order a bit ago and they were flexible with swapping an item out on a special for what I wanted. Now I’m sure that wouldn’t happen at any chain pizza place like Dominos or Pizzahut. So try it! You won’t regret it!

Eight months ago, Nunzio, big ol’ boy from Brooklyn, began working the ovens at this pizza joint in San Carlos/Del Cerro/Allied Gardens. My New Yorker hubby is very picky about his pies and he is a believer — thin, wide, foldable, crispy crust, light on sauce/cheese, heavy on artichokes, basil, olives, italian sausage, broccoli, etc etc. I grew up on Pizza Hut pan, Little Caesar’s crazy bread, and Chicago deep dish… and I’m converted. They’re going to get a fountain soda machine… and they’ll be set.

Good pizza is hard to come by in SD. But, this hole in the wall joint is the real deal! You can go to the overly hyped Bronx pizza or you can go to this no-nonsense place and get two slices and a Coke for $ 5. Let me tell you about their pizza and this comes directly from Anunzo,(sp.?) a true New Yorker. He said, it’s all about the dough and he even told me the secret to his thin, crispy and delicious crust, but the secret is safe with me. I went with plain cheese and that’s always a good test – it’s pure and simple, and if you don’t need toppings then you’ve found your pizza mecca. I have yet to try their chicken parm or cheese steaks, but I have a feeling I won’t be disappointed. So give it a shot and let me know what you think.

I think this place is great! The service is really fast and their whitestone pizza(no sauce, cheese, basil, tomatoes, and fresh mozarella) is to die for. The prices aren’t too bad for pizza, but add up if you extra un-pizza things like wings. Their garlic bread is also awesome and fresh. They have good deals if you go in and pick up, and they also offer pizzas by the slice. Yum!

This will be my very first review, after reading 10 – 15 reviews on other restaurants I personally found them very useful and therefore felt that Manhattan’s(ahem some sort of pizza) was deserving of a Unilocaling! First off the staff was great, they were helpful and courteous on the phone, upon looking at the door hanger I realized it was close so I went to pick it up. The first impression of the little joint was just that a little pizza joint, I was not expecting a restaurant so there was no let down. Ah, now on to the food, well I ordered a large pizza w/2 toppings and 6 wings.$ 21.06 total? Seems a little high to me but hey if its good who cares right? Well the wings were covered in cumin… what the HECK! Wings are supposed to be the customary wing(deep fried and bathed in a sauce)! Not the case here, the pizza was mediocre at best but decent enough. If you are in a bind and nothing else is open I recommend going here.
