My office orders catering from this location very frequently — our orders are always delivered on time(usually early!!) and our office loves their sandwiches made on the their very own homemade rolls! The best in UTC! We normally order the sandwich tray, but lately we have been getting the Panini Sandwich tray. Our favorites are: Smoked Turkey Gouda, Chicken Club and their Reuben is awesome. Cookies come with the order and are always fresh and delicious. Very well trained staff that always seem to be able to accommodate our last minute orders. We appreciate you On a ROll!

This place is great for lunch. They have specialty bread and you can get a hot sandwich for under $ 9 dollars. They have a good variety of flavors too, from pesto to avocado, to wraps and burgers. They also have a couple soups. The sandwiches are good portions and I always enjoy getting them. A lot of my coworkers like to go to the mall nearby but I think this café is just as good. The only downside is that sometimes they are slow to make your sandwich, but I always call beforehand so I don’t have that problem. Also they close at 2:30, so beware.

On a roll… All I can say is YUCK! If you order any type of sandwich or panini, you’re gonna get soggy-shredded-lettuce, mostly. Yuck! Very little meat and very expensive too. Definitely NOTWORTHIT. PLUSYOUHAVETOPAYFORPARKING –Yes unbelievable– Zero stars please! Nasty food. If you want disgusting sandwiches… congrats this is the place! This place was delicious when owned by another owner. It used to be called«sunflowers café». Now it’s called«On A Roll» owned by some really cheap guy. It took about 25min to get my food and I was the only one there at the time. Wow! Note to owner: Please don’t reply back to my review and excuse your bad quality food. You’re only look dumb by excusing yourself rather than fixing this problem before it happens. You’re so cheap!

Best employees ever. So fast and friendly. Always remembers your name! They juggle so much to get me the best morning coffee, breakfast and daily pick me ups! The best chocolate peanut butter cookies A+. I would love if they got peanut M&Ms instock!

Okay, this place. let me break it down: The ONLY reason I am giving this place a star, is because of the nice employees. They are always smiling and helping out if you need anything. There is ONE guy, he may be the manager or owner, wears glasses and is a D. you get the picture. If he is the owner I feel bad for the others having to work with him, and im surprised he hasn’t figured out what good customer service is. This place is OUTRAGEOUSLYOVERPRICED! thanks for my $ 10.00 sandwhich, that oh I had to pay a «dine-in» price on top of that? Stop being so cheap. ANYWAYS I wont bother driving over there anymore. Let us use this as a lesson shall we?

Go to place when at the office. Like that they have newer electronic forms of payment.

I ordered just a piece of 8 grain toast, and avocado on the side. For something so simple, it took 20 minutes) : I ordered the same thing another day, and I got back to my office desk to find that instead, I had been given sourdough bread with no avocado. Wrong order. Smoothies are watery and not awesome. Also, this place is a little pricey for what it is.

This place is awful. The 9191 towne centre location has gotten my order wrong so many times it is unbelievable. I’ll order a bagel and stand there for a half hour until it comes out cold, and smashed with a panini maker instead of put in a toaster. Looking like a truck ran it over. Every time I get a Starbucks drink it’s terrible and the price changes every time too. I can’t believe this place has been here so long. It’s poorly managed and the people who work there don’t last long and the ones who do look and act miserable. Also I’ve never written a bad review in my life. So this is pretty bad.

Solid sandwiches, solid prices. Probably one of your best options outside of the mall for lunch.

I am giving 3 stars due to convenience and they deliver, but the food is barely OK. Kinda of overpriced for what it is and not super fresh. I’ve never had their breakfast items but I can’t imagine they would be much better. I’d rather walk to UTC and grab something from the food court. I will say the BLT is good. This is probably the only thing I would get again. Please step up your freshness game!

I work in this building and this place is pretty decent for a big building café. The people are always really nice but sometimes the food is kind of iffy. I ordered the Monterey Chicken Quesadilla and while there was a lot of chicken, beans, corn, etc in it, there was very little cheese… Plus my stomach kind of hurt later in the day(as well as my co-workers). The donuts and wraps are always fantastic though! I guess you gotta take the good with the bad, right?

I absolutely love On A Roll. I have used them for catering countless times and have been pleased and impressed with every delivery. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the prices are affordable, and they are the most flexible of any other catering service I have used. I have visited their locations on my personal time as well and have received the same fantastic service I have at the corporate level. I highly recommend the Turkey Cranberry sandwich. It’s a Thanksgiving explosion of deliciousness and happiness in your mouth year round. And the bread is fresh and fluffy.

I work for a tech company in the area that orders large breakfast buffets from On a Roll. Their breakfast spread is pretty good. I’m partial to the Yogurt Parfait buffet and their Breakfast Croissant tray. Bagels can be great or ho-hum. Love the fact they give a ton of capers with their lox. — Not a big fan of their build your own breakfast burritos. The tortillas are cut in half and stick together. — French toast never gets eaten. In summation, it’s a good place if your company supplies the employees breakfast.

Pretty good sandwiches and salads. I work in the same building so I frequent the place. Never been disappointed. Special daily is pretty good but make sure you get your cookie they normally don’t mention it. Overall a great place…

I have been waiting two years to write this review. I no longer work in the building that this place is located so I feel like I am free to write a completely honest review now. On a Roll will screw up your order. There are absolutely no ifs, ands or butts about it. I have been so infuriated with the service that I have boycotted this place for months at a time. I always end up going back because it is right downstairs and damn if they don’t have really fresh, quality lunches at very reasonable prices. The food really is good and plentiful. The sandwiches are delicious and the salads are massive. I order the California Cobb Salad every week. Lots of chicken, a couple of real strips of bacon crumbled on top, half of an avocado and a whole boiled egg. It is really incredible. The absolute highlight is on Thursdays. Three words: chicken enchilidas special. Trust me! And get there before 1 p.m. or else the special will be gone. People line up for the special on Thursdays, mouths open and drooling. Honest to goodness, the enchilidas are incredible. But they will screw up your order. You have to be that guy in line. Open up the container, tear open that wrapper, make sure you got what you ordered. I would not know where to begin in describing some of the epic screwed up orders that I have had here. Just know this, I have learned to be that guy, and saved myself a lot of headaches.

Good lunch options around here are not easy to find. I visited On a Roll at the recommendation of some colleagues and absolutely *loved* my soup and half-sandwich lunch. The soup was a corn chowder, which was rich and satisfying; the tuna salad sandwich was at the same level.

I’m writing this review during my lunch break at my desk, angrily eating their California Cobb Salad without bacon. Without bacon! This isn’t the first time they messed up my order. In fact, I’ve only been to this place twice, and both times I ate my food unsatisfied. The first time I ordered just a regular cheeseburger. It did not taste good because the beef patty was bland. They did not salt or season the patty at all. Back to today’s cobb salad. There are so many things wrong with it. Well, no bacon is a sin in itself, but on top of that, the chicken was tough and tasteless. The romaine lettuce is regulass and starting to go bad. Actually it’s mainly romaine and not much else. Urgh. I miss the Specialty’s Café cobb, it’s so much better there, but it’s further away from my office now and this is the closest option I have, and sometimes I don’t have time to run elsewhere. I’m sure other people’s experience may be better, but I’ve been there twice, and was disappointed twice. The prices aren’t that cheap either, but it is to be expected in the UTC area. I seriously want to give it a 1-star, but I know it’s probably the mad customer in me talking.

I found this place through my levelup app. Since I had some credit to use I decided to give this place a try on my way home from work. Location is convenient near the 805 freeway and la jolla village drive. The downside is you have to pay for parking($ 1.25÷20 minutes). The café is down on the lower level after you enter the building. There is a fair amount of seating indoor and outside. I ordered the chicken club panini and the spinach salad. I enjoyed them(bacon on both, yum!) and would order each again. There’s also a few other items I would like to try as well where most places only have one or two items. Service was pleasent, but it took a while before the food arrived. The prices were reasonable too. If you work nearby I would recommend giving this place a try. They also have a few locations but they are not to be confused with on a roll in carlsbad which is a different store.

I felt like an outside alien trekking into enemy territory. Not only are you only allowed to park for 20 minutes for free but this little establishment is tucked away inside a business building full of professionals in slick suits and closed-toe shoes. There are no visible signs that will direct you, so beware of prying eyes if you walk into this building in gym shorts, flipflops, and a tshirt. «What is this bum doing here???» «I want my food». That was me, if any of you dressy and pompous people were wondering… I think immediately the cashier knew I was picking up my order from Livingsocial because I clearly didnt belong. I didnt even mention my name and there were quite a few people around – all dressed up. I guess Livingsocial deals are associated with bum-looking people? I’m not offended… really. Do you see my star-count going down? No. Don’t test me… Fooooood: — Smoked Turkey and Gouda Panini($ 6.95): Pretty decently sized sandwich! Bigger than Croutons. They pride themselves on their bread so I shouldn’t be surprised when their focaccia bread was scrumptious and fluffy. You could really taste the fresh herbs and have it mix well with the other ingredients of the panini. SCORE. The grilled smoked turkey was not too plentiful, which sucked, but was warm and flavorful. My favorite cheese is smoked Gouda so I was completely elated when there was a thick slab of that expression of euphoria – this is my special shoutout ingredient thanks. There’s also lettuce, tomato, pepperoncini, and herb mayo which made this a great panini. YUMM. Pro: — Fresh ingredients — Their bread is pretty bomb. Foaccia – to die for. — They brew starbucks? Is that a good thing? Con: — 20 minute parking limit unless you want to pay. Can’t sit down and hang out with someone. — Location is a little tricky. Give them a call if you’re confused — Only open till 2:45pm. No dinner option! Tips: — Livingsocial/LevelUp can be used here. If you want to try it out with $ 5 promo money, do it by signing up for levelup(referral code: 167540). As a resident of UTC I’m not disappointed with quality and price, however, they could work on making it easier to find this place. Just imagine how much better they would do. Next time I’ll be sure to dress up for my pick-up. Dont want no judging eyes hexing my to-be lunch.

I’m not sure that I would go out of my way to come here, but it’s an excellent option when I’m too lazy to leave the office complex for lunch. The sandwiches are huge! They’re really quite reasonably priced for what you get. The only one I’ve been disappointed in was the California Veggie grilled sandwich: all bread, very little in between. Otherwise, it’s a nice sandwich deli/Starbucks combo. There’s a little blond girl who is working there almost every time I stop in. She’s so sweet and cheerful that she makes my lunch break a little brighter. Service, from the time I order my food to the time someone brings it out of the kitchen, it super speedy. I also like that they have patio seating outside. Ahhh, fresh air… natural light!!!
