Gladys knows her way around an espresso machine. I mean, have you seen the crema on her espresso?! At about 11 am an americano(or hammerhead on those extra special days) really helps me to pull through.

Good selection, but mostly goods from Costco that are way overpriced. Yes, I realize were in La Jolla, but really were in University City and $ 2 for a mini sized trail mix is a little excessive. I don’t mind paying for things when quality matches the asking price. For example, I drink a small soy cappuccino and anyone who really knows about coffee knows that you always pull the espresso shot near the end of steaming the milk because if the shot looses temperature it begins to taste like gasoline. No joke, try it. I understand, the Orinoco Café isn’t Starbucks, but I really tried to be nice and explain to the barista that I wanted my shot pulled last and she got an attitude with me rather than try to understand. So not only did I over pay for something that tasted like engine oil I got bad service too. No bueno my friends.

This is coffee stand inside a business complex. The lady here makes very good espresso and chai lattes. The pastries she sells are also very delicious.
