We had the opportunity to dine here today for the buffet breakfast and what a delicious breakfast it was! The food is top notch! Fresh! The staff was amazing our waitress was so attentive! She even brought us to go cups for coffee on the road and quickly got us some orange juice to go too. Its rare when you find a restaurant that caters to you the way this restaurant did. We hope to soon dine here again!

I had the best food and drink at Soliel@k! ALL of it truly rivaled even the best restos in Las Vegas! This isn’t surprising to me though, because San Diego has a top-spot when it comes to good restaurants and food in general. Customer service at Soleil@k is quietly understated. Waiters are soft spoken, and are intuitive enough to respect your need for quiet solace if necessary. But even then, the level of efficiency does not take away from the non-intrusive and low key service. It’s the perfect place for you if you are a business-person who likes great food. Or if you are a single lady and want to enjoy your time by having an elegant meal alone, and leave the hustle and bustle of a far too fast-paced world behind. These times are pretty few and far between, so we must enjoy them when we can recognize them. Soleil@k is such a place to be able to enjoy these moments. Trust me, this is a unique and pleasant find. Soliel@k is Marriott’s Gaslamp Quarter Hotel’s restaurant, located on the lobby level. There is additional dining outdoors, along the front of the hotel, where you can sit and people watch while dining. Located a few steps from Petco Park, the hotel is located at the mouth of the Gaslamp District, so it gets a lot of foot traffic. One of the meals that really stands out for me was my lunch, which was a cheeseburger. It wasn’t just your ordinary cheeseburger though. I asked for bacon and counted 7 whole pieces of bacon on that burger(yes, 7 pieces!)!! It came on a poppy-seeded bun that was perfectly toasted. The taste was out of this world delicious! I ate all of it, and I usually never finish a burger in one sitting. As if that wasn’t enough, alongside it came a spring salad, with a homemade salad dressing that was so good, I asked them for a to-go box so I could eat the rest of the salad later. Funny, cause I don’t ever remember asking for a to-go box FOR A SALAD! Haha! This lunch was a reasonably priced $ 12.00. I highly recommend this beautifully designed and decorated restaurant! Go today! I promise you, you won’t be disappointed! *****FIVEFANTABULOUSSTARS!!!

I had the best mushroom risotto and chicken(with honey mustard glaze I believe) EVER! My friend works at this resturaunt and he refered me to come eat here, so I stopped in for dinner. Absolutely amazing expierence and food. The staff was so friendly, accommodating and well educated about the meal choices. I had a coctail with my meal(bartenders special) which was lemonade, Malibu and raspberries, my new favorite! For desert I had a sample of the little cakes the offer(flan, tiramisu, and mini doughnuts) and they were incredible. I will keep this resturaunt in mind and have already refered to friends.

I’ve been here several times for breakfast and everything has been excellent! The service is outstanding! My husband got Eggs Benedict one day, and a breakfast burrito the next, both were amazing! I had the fast fair — scrambled ham & egg one day, and a classic omelet the next, both were so yummy!!! The white cheddar melted on the fluffy omelet to perfection! My son chose the breakfast buffet one day and the pancakes another day. They were both so great! Awesome selection at the buffet. The pancakes were topped with a vanilla bean infused butter. It was truly heavenly.

Apparently our money is not welcome here because even though three different staff people looked at us they never came to our table to see what we wanted to order. Yes we were in costume and YES we had money to spend… which went to another business that was happy to serve us.

Soleil @ K is our annual breakfast spot post SD Rock and Roll Half Marathon. We were able to be seated right away without any wait at the hostess station. The ambiance is nice, clean, and the seats are very comfortable. I marked my rating down 1 to 4 stars due to the long wait to have a waiter visit our table. Our waiter took our drink & food orders by memory. Our meals were delivered in a timely manner. All of the dishes looked delicious. I ordered a Carb Conscience Frittata. It was fantastic! My friends ordered Crunchy French Toast with a generous side of bacon(there were probably 6 slices), Eggs Benedict, and an Omelet. Our waiter was friendly, helpful, and spot on.

Quick coffee and great service! In a hurry for a quick dessert? They’ve a number of desserts ready for you. Others are made from scratch and can take 20 minutes or so… Ask ahead! Worth the wait!

Nice wine selection but menu is limited. Quick excellent service with tasteful surroundings. The patio section is awesome during the summer especially when they are broadcasting a sporting event.

Overpriced and kind of gross. I came here for breakfast during Comic Con and it was the only sit down place I could find that wasn’t packed. I’ve been here several times in the past few years and the quality has just plummeted. This was originally the place that made me fall in love with Eggs Benedict. Now, I ordered that years and years ago and every year during Comic Con, I come back to order it. I could actually chart my gradually declining enjoyment of that dish. 2014 came around and I am just grossed out by Soleil’s take on it. I had to send back the first attempt because the egg was basically hard boiled and the hollandaise looked chunky and tasted awful. It completely lacked lemon juice and salt and looked like it was whisked by blowing into a straw. The ham wasn’t much better tasting. I mean… who screws up ham? The second attempt had an undercooked egg and the same weird«hollandaise» sauce. I just gave up after that. The only saving grace were the hash browns. They were really buttery and crispy. Those were quite good. Unfortunately, I’m gonna have to pass on this restaurant in the future. It’s a shame… I used to love their eggs benedict and I guess I’ll have to settle for Broken Yolk next time.

We are here for several meals throughout our stay. I have to say the breakfast was not great. I would almost call the buffet lame. For $ 19 I expected more plus the service was not up to par. We had dinner here twice. The first time the food was great, service good everything worked out perfect. The evening gentleman that seats people is a ray of sunshine! The second time not good. The server was not attentive. We asked for a veggie plate they made a plate w 3 carrots some broccoli and 2 cherry tomatoes. When we asked for some mashed potatoes the server said no problem, we all finished eating we asked about the food and he said there were still 2 tickets in front of us. Wth it was mashed potatoes! Needless to say we did not eat there again. The food was great but they really need to work on the attentiveness of the servers.

Open seating with a patio-styled space with a mid to top shelf selection of drinks & wines but affordable, domestic beers. Cocktail offerings are delicious. Some are common but with a unique spin or twist and the wines are fairly uncommon offerings. Stained and polished concrete floors with comfortable and casual seating add a casual and modern feel to the small, upscale space. Good for intimate meetings or group outings. Definitely a cool place to check out if you’re in the area.

Haven’t dined at Soleil @ K in a few years, but every time I’ve come here it’s always been a great time, as we usually start the night downstairs at the restaurant and end it upstairs at Altitude. For whatever reason, when we got there and told them of our reservation, they took us to a table set for 6, which was definitely wrong as we had more than double that in our RSVP. No worries, they quickly rearranged other tables and got us set up. The staff for the most part is quick and friendly, helping to explain the different dishes and cocktails to those with questions. The place can be a bit pricey, but the dishes are tasty, well portioned, and are well worth it if you’re looking to take someone special here for a date before heading up to the aforementioned sky lounge Altitude. The drinks are delicious: from the French 75, to the Moscow Mule and Old Fashion’d. have a few, then head upstairs to enjoy the view of the Gaslamp Quarter and Petco Park, and the cool San Diego air. –civilities.

It get’s 3 stars because it’s pricy. The service and quality of food was teriffic. Especially before a Padre game. Classy place. Awesome Moscow Mules in copper mugs. But really? Party of 4 was over $ 250WITH minimal drinks.

It’s crazy to me that they’ve managed to consistently receive complaints year after year about their service issue and nothing has changed. Everything you read is true. We had vouchers because we paid $ 300 for a nights stay; the thought of complimentary breakfast seemed appealing. You’re allowed access to the buffet as well as the ability to order omelets, waffles, pancakes and French toast from the menu. The buffet was 3 warmers: one with scrambled eggs, one with bacon and the last with scalloped potatoes. The waffles and pancakes were $ 12-$ 16 so you really felt there was a value in getting it complimentary. The flavor was actually alright but the biggest issue was waiting an hour to get anything. You literally watch a staff of 10+ including the hostess and restaurant manager, shuffle around to manage what, maybe 8 – 10 tables at most? It’s mind boggling. The hostess and manager are running food orders out ANDITISSTILL somehow horrible service. Not worth it.

This was the worst dinning experience I’ve had in I cannot remember how long. We were seated. The waiter asked our veberage preference. We asked for coffee and water. More than 10 minutes later, no coffee, no water, no waiter. Finally our coffee arrived. No cream. We waited: coffee got cold. No waiter. Finally waiter arrives. We ask for cream… and wait… and wait. I approach the hostess and politely request service… she makes an excuse promising to attend to the matter. It got worse. Food arrived cold. Three of the four of us had breakfast. The forth person had to wait some more. We had request whole wheat bread got rye… inspite of our polite but determined observations of how deficiently we were being treated the bill arrived; $ 36 for breakfast for two before gratuaty. Made me so mad I had to warn you and Unilocal about it.

I made a reservation for dinner on Saturday night. When I walked in to find the restaurant EMPTY, I knew I had made a bad choice. Any restaurant in Downtown San Diego that is not busy on a weekend evening has serious trouble. Usually, I would have just walked out, but we ended up staying. The restaurant had two other parties so I thought at the very least, the service would be fast and attentive. NOPE. I have never ever been in such an deserted restaurant and had such SLOW mishandled dinner service. The drinks we ordered to enjoy with our appetizers didn’t come until after the entrees were served. Can you believe that? Not only that, one guy in our party didn’t even HAVE an entrée because the server didn’t take down his order. What the hell happened there? The food, when it did finally show up, was quite good. The finishing touch of lemon cotton candy was nice. So, dear Marriott, find yourself a better restaurant manager before the one you have runs it into the ground(if it isn’t already)

I do like the patio dining as you can enjoy your food while you can look at people while they do their thing. I did not like my blackened chicken sandwich. The chicken was very dry and the same goes for the top bun too. What the heck, yo? I needed to take a break from all these red meats, so I end up with this… dry bun and dry chicken. What can you do? The garlic fries were pretty good as well the ketchup. Love their ice water too.

Been here twice now and I give it 5 stars both times. The food is excellent. It is a bit on the pricier side, but it is the Gaslamp District. We took advantage of the restaurant menu and it was fantastic. I had the hangar steak with some delicious sauce and yummy mushroom risotto. There were also lightly cooked carrots and broccolini on the artfully designed plate. It was the perfect amount of food for an entrée. Not too heavy, not too light. The wedge salad was a good size and not overwhelming like the huge hunked wedge salads I’ve gotten before. The blue cheese dressing didn’t taste too much like blue cheese, but was light and tasty. The dessert was simple, but also well done. The service here is fantastic. It’s never been that busy when I’ve been. The patio is great for people watching and the inside feels romantic and cozy. If you eat here, they give you free valet which is a hard thing to come by for downtown. This is a perfect date spot. The food looks and tastes good. Friendly, efficient service(not too rushed, not too slow) and cool ambiance. Love it and I’ll be back.

Decided to dine here since I stayed at the Marriott hotel and didn’t feel like driving. Time was after 9:00 pm and the restaurant was filled near to capacity with two large parties and outdoor dinning was also busy. The décor is chic and modern and it’s nice to have an option to dine outdoors or indoors. The matradee took care of us and sat us at a booth which was great since I didn’t make reservations. The waitress was friendly and attentive considering she was taking care of a large bachelorette party and another two parties. We munched on the bread basket which had a nice variety of tasty fresh bread. For my main entrée I went with the Star Ranch Grass Fed Rib Eye which included steamed veggies, frizzled Leeks, Au gratin potato and red wine sauce. The steak was tender, juicy and delicious. veggies were steamed perfectly and the Au gratin potato was crisp on the outside and hot inside with a hearty flavor. Kenwood Merlot paired well with my dinner. I also dined here for breakfast twice and both times was pleased with the service and quality of the food and service. This restaurant has a great chorizo omelet and the best sausage patties!
