why go here when there are muchhh better taco shops within a 2 mile radius… i have only ever been unimpressed and disappointed overpriced and bland, especially the breakfast burritos. one word: ew

Came in last night at 9:40 and I was planning on eating in but the employee said we are closing soon so it’s only to go! Really u are still open for 20 more mins, I didn’t understand his logic besides being super lazy! He also has no personality, I don’t believe he should be on the register, anyways the food was pretty good, no complain about the food, only the cashier

First off let me tell you I’m pretty surprised at 3 stars for this place. I have been going there since they opened and when I moved away 9 years ago it was the only thing that I missed lol. The place is always clean. The carrots at the salsa bar are insane. The salsa Verde is perfect and my go to meal is chicken burrito with cheese and a side of rice. I was just there last Wednesday and it was everything I remembered. I can’t wait to visit San Diego again so I can go back.

I deffienetly will not be coming back here I always try to give them a chance and it always turns out bad. i went to this location today got a pollo asada burrito. First of all they charged me .70 for like the tiniest amount of beans ever and the chicken in this burrito was inedible it was disgusting so dry and tasted gross. There was no Salsa in the burrito at all and the smallest amount of guacamole ever!!! I will never ever come back I feel disgusting after eating 2 bites of this horrible burrito I got from this store. So sad this place used to be decent not it’s just bad…

I grew up going to the sombreros on Hibert street, and LOVED it. They closed a few years ago, which was a bummer, but this locations serves the same exact food. I miss the table with the straw canopy:(

Nice quiet place to enjoy some mexican food. Went for breakfast and tasted the breakfast tacos and burritos. It is really hard to find flour tortilla tacos in SoCal so this peaked my interest immediately. They were good size and and flavor bit a bit expensive at $ 3.00. The burrito was good too. I would not hesitate to return. Staff was friendly and food was ready quickly.

Husband had a Carne Plate, and Rolled Tacos! Not so happy when we got home, as there was sour cream on the Rolled Tacos, and asked for none! Had to go back get my order right. was upsetting as I just got home too find the error. This place is right around the corner from where we live, good food but they need to have there employees pay better attention.

Was craving carne asada fries and this place did NOT disappoint! It was a good portion, the fries were crispy, meat tender, cheese just the right amount of melty. They also have a half order. But the full size is only 90cents more, why not get that? =P Ample parking and the restaurant was really clean.

HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLE waited in drive threw line for 15 mins with no one in front of me. The burrito I got was the worst thing I have ever had beans were so dry and no cheese. Do not come here it’s a waste of your money

Looks like this is the closest Sombrero’s near my place in North County, seeing how the one in Scripps Ranch closed up recently. I had a coupon that was expiring over the weekend for a dollar off any of their breakfast burritos or plates, and as such made the trip up to use it. While I had ordered a machaca burrito as my meal, I was surprised at how small it was once I’d received it. Yes, it was still the length of my forearm, but it wasn’t as thick as other burritos I order from other Mexican restaurants. I’m not necessarily talking Chipotle-level thickness, but if I’m paying at least $ 5 for a breakfast burrito, I should be getting something substantial, am I right? Anyway, the burrito tasted good, and there’s plenty of hot carrots to go around on the salsa bar. The restaurant is pretty clean — there were two TVs airing CNN& Univision, though the volume for the Univision channel was turned way up due to the soccer match playing that morning. Not too bad, but it’ll be a while before I return back.

Fast, great selections, able to do special requests, and usually have some great deals running. You can’t beat the value for what you get and the quality isn’t bad either. Easily some of the best salsas you will find at a Mexican place in the area.

I work in the same strip mall as sombreros. I have eaten there about ten times out of necessity and each time I was underwhelmed. However yesterday was different. Yesterday I had a meal replacement shake for breakfast because I’m trying to be good but lunch I was starving and a coworker was going to sombreros for lunch so again out of necessity I gave her money for chicken quesadillas. Again I was underwhelmed and luckily only ate half of what I got. About 30 minutes later my stomach started to turn and about three hours later I was throwing up and now 24 hours later I’m finally feeling half way normal. I am not a germ-a-phob by any means but I am 100% sure I got food poisoning from here and want everyone to know how bad this place is. Do not eat here. It’s dirty!!!

OK fast food Mexican by San Diego standards. The burritos aren’t nearly as big as Cotixan(that’s what she said). However the ingredients seem a little higher quality. In my experience you don’t get that unsettled I just ate that huge log of grease feeling like you get after frequenting some other fast food Mexican joints. I usually order the Pollo asado burrito. The chicken is grilled well and the Pico De Gallo is made with fresh tomatoes and onions. Get ready for that stinky breathe! Sombrero also has soda fountain drinks by Olé. Perfect if you’re craving that oh so delicious Orange Bang or Horchata.

If you like paying for a full sized burrito and instead get served what closely resembles a taquito, than come to Sombreros!!!

Only went there once, and it was some time ago. No desire to return, as the food was not particularly well prepared or flavorful. Too many cheap, authentic, and delicious Mexican food places in San Diego, why would one frequent places like this?

Went here for the first time and was immediately greeted by the staff. It was very welcoming for a taquera. It must be because of the Scripps Ranch neighborhood. I mainly went here because they have«protein style» burritos. It’s pretty much a burrito on lettuce wraps. I was excited for a cleaner mexican alternative since I usually just toss the tortilla and eat everything inside. Pros: +Healthy Option if you get protein style +open salsa bar +friendly staff Cons: –after a 10 minute drive back to work, the food was already cold. Must be the guac that they piled on. –salsa bar was nothing that really stood out. –carnitas was a tad on the salty side for my taste

Steak and Egg burrito. I got this burrito because some of the other ones I’ve been eating over the past few weeks were just bland. Carne Asada, Orange cheese, salsa, and eggs all generously distributed. The Taco shop itself is clean and has a nice wall mural. Two flat screen TVs up and running for the Nokia people up the hill. With Santana’s next door going health-mex, this is the best greasy mex place in the area.
