This is where you go to get«Mexican fast food» if you want to take a high risk on getting food poisoning… Do you have a busy schedule at work tomorrow? Not anymore you don’t! Sombrero’s to the rescue! Just have a couple of those carrots or some salsa from the salsa bar. Or take a drink from a soda fountain that perhaps has gross tubes. That«funny» flavor in your rolled tacos? Don’t worry — just put some more sketchy salsa on it! You’ll be clutching your gut in pain in NO time! Be sure you have plenty of TP at home and a trash bin(hopefully with liners) next to the toilet… you know, for when your body revolts from both ends simultaneously. ;-) Drink lots of water when you’re sobbing in pain on the sofa all day, too! Fun times!

This place is okay. They have fountain drinks and a good salsa bar so that is nice. I ordered a chile relleno burrito the last time I went here, which was gigantic and tasted great at first, but then after a while I noticed they didn’t de-seed the chili so that was kind of gross. I had to throw out the rest of it. I always remove the seeds and wash the chili when I am using them in cooking– isn’t this what everyone does? Sometimes we order the breakfast burritos for work potlucks. They are huge and very good. Lots of eggs, meat and cheese. The food here is pretty salty, so make sure you have some water handy.

They’re always fast, friendly, and accurate. Salsa bar is always full and clean. It’s not the best mexican food you’ll find in San Diego but it’s perfectly fine for fast and cheap.

Nice Cali-style tacos not necessarily authentic Mexican, but very tasty. Portions are decent and good choices.

I grew up coming to Sombreros when they had a location opened up off of Mira Mesa blvd years ago. That place rocked. This location is ok. Upon ordering food, it took the staff a few minutes to greet me and take my order(the place had only one customer other than myself inside). I ordered a carne asada burrito and it had more tortilla than food inside. Burrito tasted good, but I felt like I was being short changed because there was so little meat inside. Will I come back? Most likely a no.

I recently picked up some burritos at Sombrero and they were pretty good. I ordered a shrimp burrito and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of shrimp that came in it. Prices are extremely reasonable as well! I definitely intend to come back.

I mean, I guess Mexican food is Mexican food, but when I walk I to a restaurant and there’s a giant dog in the lobby, I kinda loose my appetite… No dogs in restaurants please, and if customers being them in, ask them to leave.

It was okay. I ordered a carne asada burrito– only had meat and salsa on it… not how I ordered it. Rolled tacos– pretty much fried tortilla with cheese melted on top. Super crunchy which wasn’t a problem, but the lack of meat inside was a turnoff. Beans were okay. Steak quesadilla was huge and not bad. Carne asada fries were the best part. It wasn’t an awful experience but I won’t be returning.

If I needed a Mexican fix and I am in the area, when there isn’t a single taco truck or stand within walking distance than I would definitely be back Burritos were tasty w/a decent size and the prices aren’t as bad as I was once told.

If you’re trying to get out of the heat, don’t come here. They’re too cheap to run ac. When I asked about it, the reply was«when it gets hot, it doesn’t work». Umm fix this

Good fair priced Mexican food. The rolled tacos are delicious as well as carne asada fries.

Good luck trying to place any orders on the phone. Constantly placed on hold to help people that walk up to the counters regardless of the fact that you called before the person walked up. How about asking the person who walked up to hold on so you can finish taking my order? I was put on hold 4 times and each time it was over 7 mins. All that for below mediocre Mexican food? No thanks!

Sombrero is a decent place to eat that will fulfill your Mexican food fix. It’s nothing to write home about but living in MV, it’s convenient. I’ve had their breakfast burritos, fish tacos, and CA burritos, always decent and portions are large.

This is literally right behind my house and I’m SO sad that I discovered it a month before I’m moving outta SD! I found this place bc my bank was having a promo for it. 15% off + $ 3 cash back(I know I’m a penny pincher, but hey! Totally worth it for the beer money!!) In any case, there was construction on Friars road so getting here was a bit of a pain. However, once you’re inside the plaza the place is rather easy to find. It’s right across the way frm Living Spaces. Prices r reasonable, service was quick, and the fresh salsa bar = one of the best! I love love looooved the red sauce(it had a hit of garlic flavor which was great) Only reason I docked a point is bc this isn’t THE best I’ve ever had, but pretty darn good to say the least.

Sombrero isn’t the best Mexican food I have ever had by far but for the convenience and price it gets the job done. I usually go with the Carne Asada or California burritos. The portions are decent and the flavors are pretty good. The major problem with the burritos is if you are getting anything like sour cream, guacamole, or cheese it’s not distributed throughout. So you take a bite of warm meat then your next bite could be a mouthful of cold sour cream or cold unmelted cheese and then warm meat. The red salsa is delicious I will give them that.

4 rolled tacos w/lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, Carrots and Salsa Verde. 4 rolled tacos and I was stuffed! Their guacamole and what ever sour cream they use stood out like a hottie on a street corner! Fresh taste I couldn’t get enough of. I like how one of the T. V’s was playing Animé. That was a plus and the place was very clean. Lots of ample free parking and they close at midnight
