This was the best breakfast in town, and hands down the best service! I really hope somehow they can come back!!! Much love for the Bacado Benedict!

So sad that they are CLOSED… I’ve been here a few times with friends & always had a great experience. My favorite was the Bacado Benedict: I love Eggs Benedict, avocados and bacon, so it was so simple to choose this one! Good prices and great service here… It would be great if they could open in a new location. 26 years is a long time!

Came by to try The Eggery on Saturday July 6, 2013 and they are no longer open for business. Bummer, but a BBQ place is coming soon in the same spot.

This is about to be quite possibly the most pointless review on Unilocal of all time, since I just went here and they told me that after 26 years they were closing after today’s service. Are you ready? Nice omelette, about $ 2 to expensive.

On our last morning in San Diego we were in the mood for a big breakfast. We randomly came across The Eggery and figured if it was super busy then it had to be good. At first arrival I was a little nervous that it was going to take forever to be seated. This place is HUGE though and they are pros at getting people in. I had the Huevos a la Mexicana. It was a huge plate of eggs, cheese, jalapenos, onions and chorizo. It was served with tortillas and refried beans. I have to be honest though… any meal served with refried beans is A+ in my book. We had a ½ carafe of oj for just $ 5. This is a steal in my book. Our server was friendly, quick and always came back at the exact time. This restaurant is nothing to look at in terms of décor and atmosphere, but the food and service make this a must restaurant to try.

I had a hard time trying to decide where to eat for brunch in PB and I’m glad I chose this place. This restaurant is in a plaza where parking is only free for the first 30 minutes, then you need to pay thereafter. However when asking more about it, one of the workers within the plaza stated that they don’t really enforce the parking rules and they never check the time. So I parked without paying and my car was not towed :) The restaurant had a very comfort feel to it like I was in the country. The staff were super friendly and were spot on with customer service. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t offer bottomless mimosas or bloody marys however they are decently priced. I ordered one mimosa for 3 dollars, which is cheap compared to most places however it was quite small and I realized was not strong at all. The blood marys were $ 5 and were so good and tasty and got the job done of giving me a good long buzz. I ordered the bacado benedict which was absolutely delicious! It had bacon and avocado with perfectly poached eggs. I even heated up a day old leftovers and my boyfriend sitll thought it was good. It also came with potatoes that were also very yummy. I would definitely come back here for good food and good vibes.

Fast. When a group of 10 of us wanted to get brunch at «world famous» a block away we were told it would take two hours to seat us. We called the eggery and 10 minutes later by the time we walked over our seats were ready. We could not have been more pleased. Service As with our reservation fulfillment everything proved expedient. Our coffee drinks and entrees were served at a rapid pace and we were able to get in and done within an hour and fifteen minutes. Our waitress was helpful and the bacado benedict she suggested sat perfectly with me. We got two pots of coffee that they left on the table refilling several times. Bacado Benedict 4 The eggs benedict and grilled potatoes you expected got even better with thick slices of beef on top and bacon bits drizzled through the hollandaise sauce. Avocado, flowy eggs, bacon hollandaise made for some great bites. For anyone staying near Mission Beach this is a preferred brunch place. The bigger your group the more you’ll appreciate the large space and expedience.

Came here on Sunday morning after a long night of drinking. My friend and I were in SERIOUS need of nice cheesy eggs and home fries and of course some crispy bacon. We were coming from downtown so I Unilocaled a few breakfast joints and this one came up so we decided to check it out. The wait was a little long which I was expecting because it was Sunday. We waited outside and looked at a menu that was displayed on the window. We were starving so we pretty much knew what we wanted to order when we sat down. We finally got our names called and we were sat at a little table. Our server came and took our drink orders($ 3.50 mimosas) and rushed off to go get them, came back and whisked away again. In my head i wanted to say wait come back were ready to order & hungry! So we ordered, my friend ordered the southwest skillet, and I got the bacado omelet which had eggs, bacon, and avocado i also decided to add some grilled onions. It also came with potatoes, and an English muffin but I opted for sourdough instead. Our food took am extremely long time, the upward of 45 – 55 min which I thought was a long time, I know they were busy but eggs don’t take that long to cook. When we finally got our food it was like heavens gates were opening and angels were singing! The food was pretty good. The potatoes were nicely flavored and well cooked. My omelet was really good until I saw this really nasty brown piece of avocado, I thought eh no big deal I just scooted it to an empty place on my plate and kept eating until I found another piece of avocado that was worse than the first sliver that was discovered so I decided to open the omelet and my whole avocado was bad and black(will post picture). My friend and I were trying to flag down our waitress but couldn’t find her anywhere. So an older man walked past and I decided to grab his attention to show him the avocado. I think he was the owner, he apologized numerous times and brought the avocado slices to the kitchen to ask the cook what was up. The cook said because the avocado was inside the omelet and under the heat lamp it turned black, I’m sorry but that’s BS an avocado only turns nasty like that is if it is rotting, and there is no excuse to put that on someone’s food. The guy that helped me said he’d take the omelet off the bill and bring me more avocado or a whole new omelet which was very accommodating, however I had pretty much eaten the whole meal and was too full and didn’t want to waste(or wait) for anything else to come out. Despite the long wait and the bad avo if I’m in the area again and the wait isn’t too long I will be willing to give this place another chance. Mistakes do happen and I won’t rule this place out completely. By the time we got out of there our dining experience had been around 2 hours, just a warning if you decided to go on the weekend.

Classic breakfast food. The Eggery is very consistent, friendly service, good coffee(the only time I’ll drink real coffee… well… sugar & crème with coffee on the side) My bf and I started coming here like every other weekend because of the consistency and it’s also fairly priced. He also gets the southwestern scramble(ham, eggs, cheese) and I like to mix and match, never ordering the same thing. So far I’ve ordered the benedict, the Asian delight, and the turkey omelet. They are all pretty good, but I think my favorite is the turkey omelet. We’ll probably be coming back here til we’re old and gray.

A reunion with friends I met in Korea landed us at The Eggery. Being a bunch of native San Diegans that have not lived in San Diego for quite some time, we turned to Unilocal for some help. Finding The Eggery can be tricky if you don’t have your eyes peeled. If you’re coming from I-5, the restaurant will be in a small plaza on the right at the corner of Misson Blvd. and Pacific Beach Dr. Note that the parking situation is crappy. The little plaza that The Eggery is in ropes off the entrance when parking is full. We drove around for a bit looking for parking. I’d say your best bet is head east toward the the residences and find parking there. We were able to find parking in the block directly across from the restaurant. Eggery time: — Single Pancake with Walnuts and Chocolate Chips($ 3.95+$ 1.00/topping) — Eggery Potatoes($ 2.95) — Bacado Benedict($ 10.95) — Scramble(I forget which one…) We went on a Saturday around 12:30. The place had a lot of patrons, but no wait was needed for our party of 4. The inside of the The Eggery is very 80’s…There is something extremely dated about the décor, but I guess it sort of adds some charm to the place. It always feels nice eating breakfast in Grandma’s 80’s kitchen, right? Okay, so I get that we went to a place called The Eggery and I failed to order an egg dish, but eggs just weren’t calling out to me that morning. I had done some research on The Eggery prior to our arrival and saw that people liked their custom pancakes and potatoes, so I decided to go with those instead. It is true, the pancakes are quite large. I didn’t even finish my one pancake. I opted to add walnuts and chocolate chips to my pancakes. Each topping is $ 1.00 extra, so just be cautious of that or else a single pancake can end up being costly. The pancake was fluffy and they were relatively generous with the toppings. I also got a side of the Eggery potatoes. I thought the potatoes were okay, not that special and not that seasoned. I ended up adding a lot of Cholula. Two in our party got the Bacacdo Benedict. It looked very good and they seemed pretty satisfied with it. Erin got a scramble, although, I can’t remember which one exactly. She thought it was okay. I had a bite and thought it was okay, too. Coffee at The Eggery is $ 2.50 and is served in a bottomless carafe. Service was okay. We were sat at a table stashed away in a corner. We felt a little forgotten about at times, but the server was nice enough. In the grand scheme of breakfast/brunch joints in San Diego I’d say that The Eggery falls somewhere in the middle. It wasn’t memorable enough for me to, of my own volition, want drive the 40 minutes south to PB and search for parking. Nothing here was bad, but nothing was stand-out-fantastic either. Overall, The Eggery was a-ok.

We were originally going to go to another breakfast spot, but the line was so long and we started to get bad vibes. We walked by this place one night and it wasn’t for. We were pretty happy we went with our instincts on this one. It was super busy, which is always a good sign. It’s a little confusing to figure out what to do when you walk in. We walked through the back patio door and stood there for a while then walked through to a little booth near another door. Stood there for a while till we noticed a «hostess» sign above another booth near another door. We got seated the moment we walked up. There was a huge pitcher of water already waiting for us. It was so full we spilled it everywhere at first pour. Within a minute the coffee we asked for had arrived at our table in a big pot. The breakfast menu was so huge and diverse we had to ask the waitress to come back twice. We ended up going with a Bacado omelet and Bacdo eggs Benedict. Basically it was avocado and bacon based food. Our food came in 5 minutes, we didn’t even finish one cup of coffee. We were blown away! Both our meals came with delicious roasted potatoes. Our food, even though it came out lighting fast, was very good! When it came to pay, we had the same confusion at where to go to pay, but once we found where to go, the service was just as friendly and fast. If I am back in San Diego I will be tempted to come back and explore more of the menu

I like this place for breakfast. This is actually my hubby’s favorite place for breakfast and my family has been coming here for years! The servers are all so kind, always have a smile and the food service is quick! You can call ahead and put your name in or make a reservation and I strongly suggest you do so on a Sat or Sun morning! They offer free water and coffee near the coffee stand while you wait though! The menu is well rounded and all items taste delish! I also enjoy that they offer edits and substitutions. For example, I like the option to have egg whites or wheat toast. The dishes are a great portion and the home potatoes are amazing! I usually get the Nice and Easy, although the Whole Wheat Banana Walnut pancakes are great too! My hubby always gets the Breakfast Croissant, it never changes :) We always take visiting guests to this location and are there for breakfast at least once a month.

The service here was very sweet, friendly, and prompt. I ordered the special– Popeye scramble or something. It wasn’t good. The reason I don’t take stars away for this is because it was my poor ordering choice. I asked for over medium eggs(they serve the eggs on top for this particular dish) and so all I was left with after the eggs were gone were some dry potatoes and flavorless spinach. Not good. The potatoes were dry and not flavorful– but the egg Benedict was good and I enjoyed my drip coffee. The pancakes were fluffy and soooo good! They have a punch card for buy 6 get one free, so come here with a group and you can pretty much have a free entrée the next time you come!

Came by the Eggery for some breakfast and because it was recommended by a friend. I ordered the Vegetable scramble with a side of Eggery potatoes and rye toast.( ) The scramble came with 3 eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and Monterey cheese for $ 9.95. The scramble was very good and all the ingredients were fresh. It came with a very good amount of mushrooms and chopped tomatoes.( ) It was well seasoned and the eggs were cooked properly. The potatoes had a very good brown exterior crust which made them crunchy and went very well with the bottled Cholula hot sauce.( ) Good potatoes. The rye toast was nicely toasted and had a good rye flavor.( ) The meal came with small container of homemade salsa. The salsa was okay. It came steaming hot as if it was just stewed that morning.( ) It was not my favorite thing, so I passed on it and brought on the Cholula!( ) How could I go wrong? The place has a lot of seating inside and some outside on the back patio. The people who work here are very nice and respectful. …and they got Cholula!

Playing tourist one weekday morning, we decided to have breakfast at, well, a tourist trap. Hey, it sounded a lot better than a 5 mile run, so why not. It’s definitely fun to eat here. It’s right off the boardwalk, and right on Mission Blvd. Location is everything, right? Well, almost. The food was just ok, not great. Pretty standard breakfast actually. I was a bit disappointed in that the frittata wasn’t a frittata at all. It was an omelette, with the ingredients folded in after it was fully cooked, then served in a skillet. This made the spinach a bit cold and not well incorporated. The kiddo had the oatmeal and it was fine. He did have a fruit smoothie to go with the oatmeal, that was a bit heavy on the banana and light on the other fruits. Service was excellent, which saved the breakfast for us, and the coffee was good as well.

The Eggery has always delivered… they never let me down. Great quality food, huge portion sizes, awesome service and they move folks in and out of there very efficiently without making you wait ‘too’ long for a table(unless you’re a large party) AND without feeling rushed when you’re done with your meal. What we had today: — Pig Frittata: sausage, bacon, ham and a bunch of veggies with potatoes and toast on the side.(the way it’s written on the white board outside the restaurant it looks like ‘frizzaza’) :) — Breakfast Quesadilla with egg whites: full of fresh veggies and comes with potatoes on the side. My only issue was that it was really hard to eat since the tortilla had gotten soggy – either from the tomatoes or the egg whites. However, I made due and used my fork to hoist it up to my mouth. Also had a mimosa…(FYI, they now serve those, screwdrivers and bloody marys). Yaye! Overall, another great egg-sperience(couldn’t resist) at the Eggery!

YUMMYYUMMYYUMMY eggs. All kinds of eggs. Had the benedict and was sooo surprised that the wasn’t heavy, it was just perfect and light. I also LOVE the potatoes. And $ 3 mimosas. Can’t be beat. Will definitely come here again!

Love how they leave a pitcher of water at every table, beats asking for the waiter/waitress to refill your water every time :-) … AND $ 1.95 for bottomless coffee?(arabica coffee — which is GOOOOOOOD)! They really do mean bottomless cuz they leave a pitcher of coffee at your table too! The water was already on the table, and once we told our waitress we wanted coffee she came back with the pitcher almost instantly! To top things off, after we ordered our meal we received it in less than 10 minutes, it came so fast! My husband got the walnut banana pancake(single stack — which is still big!), and we expected slices of banana and pieces of walnuts on top — instead bananas were inside the pancake along with walnut pieces too! It was SOOOGOOD! Different from your typical place, which we loved because you could really taste the bananas inside, more so than the pancake batter. He also got the french toast which was good too! I got the California Benedict — it came with artichokes, tomatoes, avocado, and whole wheat muffins. I replaced the artichokes with spinach and it it came out YUMMY! Oh, it’s also served with potatoes too. Did I also mention we were served in less than 10 minutes? This place is REALLY good! It’s great for groups too! We got in at 8:45am on a Sunday, and were out to the car by 9:45, we ate comfortably and casually within the hour. Our waitress was on her A game — she didn’t bug us too much and knew when to ask if we were done(instead of coming back while we would be «working on our food» as some call it.). We got in early enough to find street parking(because we didn’t want to pay — there’s a lot you can park in, but you have to pay) — however The Eggery validates parking(we noticed this when we were paying to leave). One tip I’d recommend is to come early. When we were leaving(at 9:30 am on a Sunday) there was a wait. a pretty lengthy one too! This place is a little hard to find, it’s tucked in the back corner behind a surf shop. We’re DEFINITELY coming back here! There are so many other breakfast items we want to try and can’t wait!
