I had lunch here this afternoon… We sat out on the deck on the bar side. Aside from the perfect weather… Our server was remarkable. Very attentive and quick with menu advice when asked. I had the sea bass and I can’t say enough about it. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It didn’t taste fishy and it was perfectly flakey with a beautiful buttery texture. Try it if you go!

It has the potential to be a great seafood restaurant. It has the view and located in walking distance to LIttle Italy. Maybe I expected too much or they just couldn’t deliver. Ordered the dozen of combo oysters. Oysters were old, small and smelly. I had a very hard time enjoying the after taste. Clam Bake was overcooked, dry and tasteless. I think Joe’s Crab Shack and Red Lobster tasted better than this combo. Dungeness Cioppiano with past noodles came with left over crab meat(out of shell option) that tasted dry and fish. It literally tasted spoiled and rotten. I should have known that the out of shell option meant overstocked and unused crab meat. I cannot explain how disappointed I was to have spent $ 140 for 2 people with couple of beers. It’s a tourist attraction for sure and convenient but there are plenty of other options.

Went here for Restaurant Week and enjoyed the atmosphere, service and the food. RW menu for $ 30 or upgrade to $ 40 that included steamed Maine lobster tail. We had apps that included grilled prawns(yummy) and sea scallops with polenta and mushrooms — also very good. The scallops were 3 decent sized. The shrimp came on skewers — forget how many, but it was plentiful. Main entrée we choose salmon with olive tapenade, scalloped potatoes(yum again) and veggies. The veggies were a bit too soggy for my tastes. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was seasoned well — tasty. One of us had the lobster upgrade. Not a huge lobster, but good. Came with fries and coleslaw. Our server, Stephen was very good. Friendly, good attitude. Good recommendations. We did not opt for the $ 16 wine pairing, preferred off the menu choices. Only disappointment was the dessert options. Key lime pie was good, but the other options were just meh to me. Ask for a table by the window — great views of sunset and the lights of North Island.

Went here during restaurant week. The hostess calie or kelly was super nice and sweet the whole time and accomodated to our requests like where we wanted to sit at. Eating outside and watching the sunset was great and not as noisey. Our waiter matt was cool and knowledgeable of the foods. I would definitely come back again and try the other dishes and reorder the dungeness crab cakes and fanny bay oysters… yummy! I cant wait to go back. Enjoy!

As a disclaimer on this post, I need to say that I am not the type that arbitrarily sends food back. I hate the word«foodie» but I know my food and know the proper methods for preparing it. Because of this I truly enjoy great food and can enjoy basic, consistent food with great service, the later is what I’ve always enjoyed about the Fish Market. This evening, I ordered the Ducket’s Bucket with only mussels. They arrived very quickly but I had to ask the waitress for a dish to put the shells in. It came with a generous portion of mussels. After a few mussels I ended up eating one and realizing I got a beard. After this I poked around and realized that the majority of the mussels were not debearded. I set aside the ones that had the beards still on and pointed it out to the waitress. She was very nice but tried to explain to me that it was«how they come.» I’ve eaten quite a few mussels in my life and make them at home, so with expert knowledge on the subject, I explained that the mussels were not properly cleaned and that she needed to bring the plate of bearded mussels to the kitchen manager. After a few minutes, she came back. She was extremely friendly but explained to me that the kitchen manager confirmed that the mussels were cleaned and that its normal to have the beards. I kiboshed that explaining that the kitchen staff should probably watch the millions of youtube videos out there explaining the proper method of prepping mussels. This by no means was the fault of my waitress. She was lovely and friendly. She also arranged to give me 50% off the mussels and offered to have something else made. However, she did not prepare my food and does not know how mussels should be cleaned. This was entirely the fault of the kitchen staff that were responsible for prepping the mussels. My concern and reason for posting this is that I think that mussels are one of the simplest items to cook when it comes to seafood. I find it concerning that a place that’s focus is on seafood lacks the kitchen skill set to prepare mussel. This makes me wonder what other basic kitchen prep skills they lack. Reference regarding the method of prepping mussels can be found in the following links: * (ref step 3) * (ref step 2) * (re: 00:23)

Not what I expected at all. I ate here 4 years ago, and I looked this place up on Unilocal again to see how things are. Unilocal reviews claim this place is great. My whole family disagrees. After a long day exploring the USS Midway, we walked over here to eat. I read that waits here take forever, so I asked for a reservation. They said they don’t reserve, so I told them that my family would be ready in 5 minutes… really wasn’t the nicest greeter because we still had to wait for seats, although it wasn’t busy. Plus, by reserve, I meant table for a party of 4, PLEASE. Sat down next to the window with a nice view. Waiter was a bit awkward. Then, we ordered. My dad had two of the oyster shots, the baked oyster appetizer, and the fish tacos. My mom and I shared the sweet potato fries and the only pasta they had on the menu. My brother had the sushi sampler platter. Sushi platter was not sushi. More like cooked, frozen fish. My family is a connoisseur of raw fish, and they hated the sushi platter. The pasta was bland and a little hard. The baked oyster was too creamy and baked; no real taste of the seafood. Everything is overpriced(tourist spot, I get it). Overall, I was disappointed. Wished I could get my money back, but I’m not that mean. Won’t be back anymore. /: Nice view of the ocean, so 2 stars.

Made a 5:15 reservation on open table bc that was the only thing until 9:00 pm. We got there and the place was empty. Took many walk-ins until we left around 6:15. Waiter was not very friendly or helpful. Food was mediocre at best. Husband and I split the clam bake — one of their«specialties». Only thing cooked well that you wanted more than a bite of was the shrimp. No flavor in clams, mussels, or lobster. Don’t bother.

After a long day of touring the Midway our group was so so hungry. I pulled out my phone and jumped on Unilocal to find a good place to chow down.(How diid anybody ever manage to find a decent restaurant, hair salon or tattoo parlor before Unilocal anyway)? The Fish Market was rated highly and was close, so let’s go! We walked in starving and without a reservation only to see a huge line of people as equally as hungry as we were. We decided to eat in the bar which was A-OK. No wait for a table at all. The fish was good, our waitress was friendly, fast and efficient. Our food came out very fast which made me veddy, veddy happy. I was starving so any food at all would have been greatly appreciated but luckily the food here did not disappoint. The restaurant is within walking distance of the Midway.

I’ve been a fan of the fish market for a LONGLONG time. It is my familys go to spot for an exceptional meal, celebrations, fancy occasions, etc. When i use to work in Seaport Village i would always point people in the short 7 minute walk to the restaurant for great views, good service, and fresh fish! This place is also a market which is a cool feature. They also have a sushi bar, raw bar, and full drinks bar! On numerous occasions my meal starts the same way; Duckets bucket which(use) to be a bucket filled with clams and mussels steamed open and served with toasted bread. This dish is always fresh, everything opens up, and is plentiful! However the last time i was there(last night) the portion was visibly waaaaay smaller. I was shocked. The FM has never skimped on there portions so why now? The Calamari which is always crunchy, crisp, and to the point was different too. Now the dish includes peppers and a few other spices and two dipping sauces, which i like. But again, the portion was visibly waaaaay smaller. Barely enough for a table of four. Normally i will explore the sashimi or sushi rolls which are always fresh! I like that this restaurant keeps it simple and doesn’t mess around with sauces, vegetables, or crunchies all over their fish. I’ve had the crab sandwich at lunch which was SOGOOD! and the clam chowder, the shrimp Cesar salad, the seafood pasta, the lobster, and the fish tacos. All extremely fresh and keeps my family coming back for more! This visit i decided to split the ciopinno(have NO idea how to spell) with my and again the portion was noticeably smaller than I’ve ever seen before. This dish is awesome though, for $ 3 more you can get a measly portion of pasta but the dish has everything from crab legs, fish, scallops, octopus, mussels, and clams all in a marinara sauce and served with toasted bread! If you haven’t tried this place you are missing out. It is expensive and you are paying for the location as well as the fresh quality of everything served. Even though a few things have changed i will continue to sing this restaurants praises and recommend it to anyone who asks.

The two stars are for the clam chowder, which was pretty decent but the fish and chips was horrible. The slaw had too much vinegar and the fish was dry and flavorless. So disappointed.

The environment is pretty decent. We got seated immediately, our party didn’t really care if whether we sat outside or inside. So we sat inside. Sucks that I only see one bathroom and that people have to wait in line to use it next. The bread that was served was not the best that I have had, and the butter did not spread on smooth. We also ordered the Baked Crab and Artichoke dip for an appetizer, which comes with toasted sourdough bread. I liked it, but it would be nice to have some softer bread with it. My boyfriend ordered the Dungeon Crab Cioppino(under the Specialty Entrée) and requested some pasta with it; however, he did not get any pasta with the order — He still enjoyed it even without the pasta. We informed the server and did not charge it onto our bill. The kids had their own kid’s pasta; cheese pasta(Mac n Cheese) and pasta with marinara sauce(spaghetti); they enjoyed it. My boyfriend’s mom order the Steak Calamari with potatoes and liked it that she could not finish her steak portion. I had the Duckett’s Bucket — Clams and Muscles with a nice garlicky taste with garlic bread. I’m a very tiny girl(only being about 110 – 115 lbs) and I happen to finish the clams and muscles, and less of the three huge garlic bread pieces that came with it. So, I pretty much enjoyed the entrée — Which is also found under the Specialty Entrée area of the menu.

I’ve literally been a fan of this place for close to 30 years. With the views of the beautiful San Diego harbor, and the fishing boat docks right next door, you know that this is some seriously fresh fish. In fact they even list on their menu(printed daily to reflect what is fresh), the name of the boat that brought that giant swordfish in. After a 2.5 hour drive from the OC, complete with the requisite traffic, we were more than thrilled to be seated with less than a five minute wait, and served our adult beverages very quickly. The service is always very good here. While we were waiting for our table I scoped out the splay a fresh fish in the market area and noticed some exceptionally good looking Seabass. It was a little on the pricy side, but it was worth it. This is what my husband ordered. I went with the combination skewers. This was comprised of fish, shrimp and scallops, and a few vegetables. For sides, hubs went with augratin potatoes and roasted vegetables. I went with rice and roasted veg. All of this was enjoyed with their warm crispy sourdough bread and butter. We don’t get down here very often, but you can bet if we’re in the area we will be eating here at least once.

My review is solely for drinks on the deck. Because that is the only reason to come here. We used to have a Fish Market in Phoenix, and this location is what I’d expect having eaten at the AZ venue. Decent food, ok drinks, pretty commercial, no surprises(meaning, nothing impressive). I would avoid being seated at an inside table at all costs. BUT it’s the best damn view on the water for a happy hour sunset libation. We have about a 70% chance on any given visit to SD of enjoying a cocktail or glass of wine here, just to soak up the last of the day’s sun and settle into vacation mode. We usually pick on an appetizer to just get something other than road trip chez mix and jerky into our bellies. The calarmi is alright, the fries are good, though the service is a bit slow. It’s really the ocean breeze and harbor buzz winding down(or up depending on the evening) that makes the stop worth it. So order a drink or two, grab a quick nosh and sit back to remind yourself you’ve made it in life. Then pay your bill and head to a nice restaurant in Little Italy for a real dinner.

Let me set the scene… Basically you are on the water and 100% of he seafood is fresh. Now with the scene set you should just go. But, we started with the oysters. Again fresh and delicious. For my lunch selection I went with the chipotle rubbed sword fish tacos. Best tacos(possible ever) I’ve put in this month of mine. The other peeps I was with also loved their food.

We came around 3 pm which was perfect timing. Right as we were leaving the early dinner people were swarming the place.(If you can get a window seat I do highly recommend it. The view is gorgeous!) We were seated right away by a very nice gentleman and were promptly greeted by our waitress, Amy.(Who was pretty much Wonder woman in terms of multitasking efficiently. Good job!) I ordered the local black cod mesquite grilled with the rice and veggies and my husband ordered the Alaskan cod(?) sandwich which came with fries and a pickle. Both were absolutely phenomenal! The menu items averaged at about $ 15 — $ 20 and the portion sizes were just right.(Wait time was about 15 minutes) –You also get a plate of hot sourdough bread complimentary. It’s delicious! It was a quiet environment up until a party of 8 was seated in our section but that isn’t the restaurant’s fault by any means. It was very clean and very well maintained and had a great location. I will most definitely be returning here.

Came to this restaurant with the desire to try something cool, fishy, and on the water in san diego. Food was good, nothing mind blowing, but the view and service made up for that. The sweet: — The view. Came to this restaurant with the desire to try something cool in san diego with a beautiful view on the water while eating seafood. If thats what you’re looking for then great. — Its an interesting kitchen/cafeteria-like feel, extensive menu with a lot of variety from seafood, burgers, fish and chips to sushi. — warm sourdough bread came out first — cant go wrong with bread. — Mahi Mahi sliders — definitely a hit. The bread was toasted in butter so it added to the flavor and crisp. — Rosemary truffle sea scallops — beautiful presentation. There was a sauce that came on bottom, topped with scallops, and on the side apples. Flavors meshed well together. Didnt taste much truffle(i LOVE truffle!) The sour: — Oysters combo — on the pricey side. it was fairly good, but i’ve had better. It didnt come with vinegar. and maybe i expected more from a seafood restaurant on the water — A bit on the pricey side. — Took a little while for our food to come out Baby friendly! I didnt go to the restroom so wasnt sure if there was a changing table. They made room at the table for my stroller and the service was great

This was the 2nd time I had ever been here and it did not disappoint, the New England clam chowder was better than any I had in Boston or Maine. They did not have happy hour and my margarita was $ 11, I thought that was pricey because it was a small glass and did not taste very good. We ordered the app, oyster Rockerfeller, the cheese in it was a little strong, what I once had in NYC was milder, on the plus side, the oysters were very fresh. The mesquite grilled rainbow trout was simply phenomenal, I saw it cooked on the huge mesquite grill in the open kitchen, it came out piping hot and filled with steamy fragrant smell of the mesquite. It was cooked to perfection. The garlic prawn spaghetti was tasty with a wine reduction, the prawns were huge, the sauce was amazing. I rate this restaurant 4 stars, I think I am being generous, it really should be 3.5 because it was pricey and they did not have lobster or lobster bisque. However I will definitely be back for the freshest seafood.
