order at a counter with the friendly staff members and you are given a buzzer. burgers are made to order along with fries and shakes. that is the majority of the menu; it is very simple. we took food to go including double char burgers, fries, and shakes. we were disappointed in the shakes (we both tried coffee). they were watery with little to no sweetness. the fries were very good and the burgers were satisfying. the double char is quite big and comes with all the fixings. there was nothing very special about the burgers but again, were satisfying. prices are fair which makes it possible that I will come back at some point. I was impressed by the fountain drinks which consisted of vitamin water and powerades rather than simple sodas.

This place is superb! Food is always delicious, never had a wrong order or a disappointing meal. Try the Santa Barbara style it’s my favorite. Clean place, staff always super friendly and very efficient! This place is the best

Now one of my favorite burger place, Stumbled upon the Habit for lunch. Loved the flame broiled burgers and hot fries. Loved that extra touch of the Pepper Bar, it really gave my first experience there a kick. And the green beans is amazing. Highly recommended.

This place has been great. The location is perfect, If we are at the beach we try to stop by on the way home if we have the kids with us. The food is better than the competitors and unlike in-​and-​out they have, bacon. All seriousness, it’s the best fast food type restaurant in the area. Lot’s of heaters on the patio in the winter, quick service and better quality.
The prices are on par with Five Guys, but without the order mistakes and better selection.

Burger was pretty good and prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend it. The place also looks clean and nice and the people are friendly.

The Habit Burger as a whole used to be one the best quick serve places that existed. I don’t know what happened but their service faltered drastically in the past few years.
Lucky for me this particular restaurant has kept that original great service. They got the order right (except some confusion about the salad dressing being vegan or not, no biggie, it was easily exchanged).
I’m surprised and hopeful. If their other locations would follow suit maybe their stock would rebound.

We live in Point Loma and this is one of our go-​to spots having a toddler. We often order it to go as it’s just easier!
We were introduced to the Habit when we still lived in AZ and were pleasantly surprised to find one by our new home here!
My favorite is probably the teriyaki chicken sandwich with pineapple on the wheat bun. It’s one of the best buns I’ve ever had! The chicken breast is large and flavorful and all of the ingredients are fresh.
I also like their char burgers as well when I’m feeling in the mood for red meat! Everything is high quality. I also really love their fries and onion rings. I’m not a big fast food person and habit and chick fil a are about it for me.
They both have great costumer service and quality ingredients. Pretty easy formula!

This location is very spacious with plenty of indoor and patio seating and lots of parking. They offer different combinations of burgers (or you can customize your own), sandwiches, salads, kids meals, and desserts. The staff was OK. Friendly, but perhaps some may need a little extra training at the register. The employee took our order just fine, but got a bit confused when money came into the picture. Our total was $ 9.07. We gave them $ 20 and let them know we were getting the 7 cents. They rang us up with just the $ 20 with the change showing as $ 10.93 on the register. We then gave them the 7 cents, so they used a calculator to double check the change. They ended up giving us $ 10.93 in change anyway (we have no idea what was being calculated, LOL!). We let them know that we gave them a total of $ 20.07, so they put our 93 cents back in the drawer and closed it without giving us the $ 1 they owed us. We ended up not even bothering to ask for the $ 1 as it seemed that it would have been too much trouble.
But, enough about that — Let’s get to the food since that’s what we’re mainly here to write about…
We shared the #2 combo which was the Double Charburger with fries and a drink. The burger was really good and came with 2 patties, mayo, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, caramelized onions, on a toasted sesame seed bun, and we added cheese. The patties were cooked well, juicy, and the width of the entire bun. The burger had adequate amounts of sauces and toppings — very tasty! The fries were made well — nice, crispy, and lightly salted! We could tell that everything was freshly made and didn’t feel too heavy in our stomachs.
We’d definitely come back to grab a bite to eat. Make sure you try them out if you haven’t yet!

This is the best go-​to burger lounge! My boyfriend and I love coming here for a casual and quick, but delicious dinner. They have amazing burgers and shakes. I love their Cobb salad as well. The girl who works in the front as a cashier (I need to catch her name) is so great! She’s always so friendly and welcoming. My boyfriend and I have been coming for Sunday night dinners now and have definitely made the Habit a habit!

MENU– simple burgers with delicious sides to choose from. I recommend the tempura green beans yum! The burger I ordered was the mushroom char, my mouth waters as I write this review.
SERVICE–
Was a little weary of the line of ppl at the register and thought to myself uuuugh but the line moved super fast. These top notch employees worked fast and efficiently to take orders. A pager was presented to me to notify when the order was ready. I probably waited a total of 6 – 7 minutes and my order was ready.
FOOD–
A-​MAZ-​ZING! Fresh burger still hot and perfectly put together. The produce was fresh and delicious the mayo was not too much or too little. The Sautéed mushrooms, melted White American Cheese, mayonnaise, pickle, fresh tomato and lettuce on a toasted bun was the perfect combination. I also ordered tempura green beans … Wait let me say that again Tempura green beans !!! Love that choice !

These employees made my food with love and care, so what if it’s a burger joint, this place rocked my world. San Diego has great food options that sets itself apart from the rest of California. Totally impressed with the friendliness and stellar service of the employees from the moment I walked in until the last bite of my burger. These guys deserve recognition! Growing up in Ny we ate a lot of Burgers, this place made me feel like I was home with friends and family. Thank you grill cooks, cashiers, dish washers, expo window, managers all of you made my first time better than I could even put into words. Amazing job to all of you, I left with a full belly and a tear in my eye that I didn’t live in Dan Diego. Good news is you made my experience so stellar I searched and found out that Sacramento also has The Habit as well! If I hadn’t gone to your restaurant I would have never known.

Came here for lunch. I ordered the mushroom burger with Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and mayonnaise with fries and a large drink. I got my daughter the grilled cheese with apple sauce and apple juice. Hubby got the portobello garlic burger with onion rings and a medium drink. All that food costs me $ 24.00. Not bad considering all that food.
You get a buzzer and your receipt, grab a table and wait for your order. They had Coke products which I favor. I got a low calorie pomegranate cranberry drink. Our order was ready in about 10 minutes. Once we got our food, I took a photo. It sure looks good. I took a bite out of my burger and it was good. Meat was juicy and tasted all the mushrooms. Yum! The French fries were crunch but a little salty. Still good. I enjoyed my pomegranate cranberry drink. Burger seemed small though.
There was air conditioning which is a plus. There’s also restrooms in the back which were clean. Plenty of parking in front of this place. I really enjoyed my burger here! Better than any fast food joint.

I’ve never heard of a place where you had to be forced to use your credit card when calling in when you can just arrive and pay for it on the spot
The food is good But picking up is hassle when u can just pay for it when you arrive. I don’t like to use my credit card nor do I want to pull it out when driving around just trying to place an order for a last minute meal

When visiting San Diego my friends and I stopped in for a bite to eat. From the moment you walk in you can tell it was a very popular place. I had a burger and fries. I loved the burger! It was one of the better burgers I have had. But the fries were blah. Knowing what I know now I would only get a burger next time or maybe try the sweet potato fries that everyone on here talks about. I give it such high stars because the service was fast, the burgers were great and the atmosphere was resturant quailty food fast.

Not a bad burger joint amongst the many in SD. I had the char burger, with mushrooms, and cheese. It was still around 600 calories. The fries (sold separate) topped it off with another 300 calories, give or take. So the meal itself if you add in a soda is somewhat caloric friendly IMO for a burger spot topping off around 1000 calories. My meal came out to under $ 10 as well. The quality of the burger was good. They have some interesting looking items here like the tempura green beans. Their shakes look tasty as well. Gonna make a return trip here soon.

The Habit has a very warm and inviting feel the moment you walk in. The restaurant was about half full on a Sunday night around 7:50. As I browsed the menu, I was happy to see their charburger was only $ 2.95. They have a selection of burgers, grilled sandwiches, salads, sides and a kid’s menu. Food items are priced very reasonably.
I ordered the mushroom & swill charburger and a side of sweet potato fries. Food took about 10 minutes and they give you a pager to let you know when your order is ready.
My burger was a little of the dry side but still delicious! The size and price of the burger was very comparable to in-​n-​out; I like that they have a wider variety of options. Will be back soon to try other items on the menu!

This place has become one of my favorite burger joints! The first time that I tried The Habit was the day that they opened the Solana Beach location. Ever since then, I have been a fan!
My wife and I stopped by this location on a Sunday evening around 6 PM and soon after, the place became packed. After my wife and I placed our order, we were given a pager and within 5 – 10 minutes, we received our meal.
My only criticism of this place is that they don’t wipe the tables down very often. With all the people that eat there, someone should be doing this often.
If you like charbroiled tasting burgers, you will like this place!

This is going to be definitely one of the replacements of In ‘n Out. Not that In ‘N Out is bad, but I like this place more because you can have it more your way.
The burgers are made to order, and the sides are way more mouth watering than other places. (sweet potato) fries, onion rings, fried veggies and so on.
The workers were soo nice. I feel really bad I forgot her name, but the girl asked if we needed more drinks once we were eating. This place doesn’t have a waiter service, but they are really trying their best to make your visit rock.
The only thing I would skip is their honey mustard sauce. I would rather get mayonnaise since that’s the way Europeans eat their fries.

Pretty good Habit location — very dependable product.
One con — no unsweetened iced tea! They said it was too late at night to make a new batch because they would probably have to throw it out.
a) I don’t care about your sob story — I’m your customer just make me happy.
b) Can’t you make a batch and refrigerate it for the next day? Weird.
So I normally love you The Habbit, but tonight, not so much.

So I ordered the single cheeseburger with fries and a soda and it was a decent price. Got my buzzer and waited for my order to be up.
I was never asked how I wanted my meat done so I assumed it would be well done but it was more on the medium well side. but it was still bomb! They definitely have a unique flavor that I haven’t tasted from any other burger spot. Their fries were eeeeh. I also tasted onion rings and those were not that great.
The seating space inside is not as big as I was expecting. I would say maybe about 10 tables and a couple booths. They have a few tables outside as well but I didn’t pay much attention.
