5 for the cute place. 3 for the drink. 1 for the service. 1 for the food. The place was cute. Clean. The coffee smell was wonderful! I ordered just plain coffee. A little weak… but good. They also serve Tea Gallerie, which I love! Didn’t prepare it well… but seemed like the young woman forgot about it. Service was… awkward. The two young women working clearly did not want to be there. They did not address any customers, looked put out to take your order at the counter, and seemed very perturbed if you ordered anything not already made in the case. Ordered the special. Supposed to be a type of salami on focaccia with truffle butter, mozzarella and roasted tomatoes. I’m fairly certain all the baked goods were from Costco. The salami was definitely bargain brand and had no flavor. The tomatoes were not roasted… maybe warmed in the microwave? The mozzarella wasn’t drained. No spice, basil, anything. No garnish even. Result was a very bland, soggy sandwich type mess. Maybe we just hit it on a bad day. Good thing was they left us alone to drink coffee and play a game. Clerk only came out and glared at us like…3 times. After reading other reviews, maybe they need a $ 8/hour policy… like every hour you have to order something or at least leave a really good tip. That might boost service morale.

They have a wonderful assortment of cheese and cracker platters! Tasty smoothies, teas and coffees! i fun experience to visit the coffee roster. I love the manzanita blend!

Cheese platter is the best. You must get it! It’s a great deal for such a huge portion and it pairs perfectly with the wine! Love stopping by here when I’m tasting at Bernardo.

So I came here with my Mom in search of the Sweet Pea Coffee Cottage, but saw that V’s appears to have replaced it. It’s small and cute. Two very nice young women were working the counter and although my cappuccino took a bit of time, it was pretty good. Behind the counter there wasn’t much, but the service was great. Very nice place to spend an hour or two just enjoying the winery scene.

V’s Coffee Shoppe is «new» to the Bernardo Winery compound, replacing what used to be called The Sweet Pea Coffee Cottage. I’m very new to the Rancho Bernardo area, but this little coffee shop, with both indoor and outdoor seating, nestled among vine-arbor terraces and fragrant tree-shaded piazzas, doesn’t even need those sparkling, soothing-sounding Italianate fountains to keep me coming back. The multi-sensory environment, a delight to eyes, nose and ears, is reminiscent of times gone by, when people took time to chat with each other over coffee and tea, instead of scrutinizing their techno-devices. The cappuccinos, served in porcelain or paper cups, are delicious, with caramel«smiles» decorating the frothy tops. The staff is friendly and fun, serving breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, quiches, fruit smoothies, coffee and tea, with charm and enthusiasm. So if you don’t feel like the«same old, same old» corporate coffee served in a concrete strip mall surround by device-addicted zombies and crowded parking lots, and you have the time to treat yourself to some of your own time, try this beautiful relaxing environment for your next coffee date, either with yourself and a great novel, or with someone else.
