I paid $ 30 to get in, and then they kicked me out because they said i didnt pay for it. This club is a scam. Dont ever come. Security girl/guy is extremely rude and unprofessional. Should be fired. Never had experience something like this.

A great place to go if you’re a gay guy who likes gay events mostly attended by white girls who get highly drunk and dance on the tables, blocking your view of the dancers and acting like they own the place.

I was there last night(Friday 1÷8÷16) for the Pam An Show. She was great! This was my first visit to Beatbox. Friendly staff. Great music from the DJ. A nice crowd gathered. I didn’t feel ‘out of place’. I knocked off one star for something that I hope is not a regular feature — after showing my ticket at the front window, I opened the door to walk the short hallway to another door leading to the dance floor. That hallway reeked of urine. It was really bad.

Small, yet large dance floor. It’s not too big where you will get lost and not too small that you’re a can of sardines. Music is pretty circuity as is the crowd, although every is very friendly. Drinks are standard priced although a bottle of water is $ 5. Really? I had fun on a Saturday night and danced until 3am.

Zero stars. 1. Tonight is the November 14th, and there seems to be a private event as listed on the website. Here’s the thing: you have private events in the back room, at 2 in the afternoon, or at some private club/party/event/restaurant/etc. You don’t have a private event that everyone else is excluded to *primetime* on Saturday night and exclude everyone else. Very disrespectful to regular patrons… 2. On usual nights, I would check the website to see if it’s worth it, worth my time, worth my money, etc etc etc. It usually is not — but sometimes I like to go only only only because I have got to «get my dance on» and all the other clubs are a one on a scale of 10 and this club is a mere 6 on the best night. So I like to get my dance on and this is the best place for it. They charge you $ 30 and way up just to get in the door. And then you have to go through some weird Facebook rigamarooo to get a ticket. Previously, the best gay club in the city let you in for $ 10 before 11 and then after that was the usual $ 25 fee. Nowadays, they just gouge you from the get-go, no matter who you are or where you’re from. 3. Regarding the nineties nights: if you’re going to have a 90’s night, you need to play the best of the 90s. Putting the worst music of the 90s doesn’t make me want to go back to the 90s and have a 90’s night and reminisce about said nineties. If you’re going to have a night highlighting a certain decade, you have to play the best music therein. 4. And if you’re going to have a fundraiser event night event, you need to know who the funds are being raised for from the get-go, and where said funds will go. You can’t say Oh blah blah blah we don’t have enough money so we’ll just do this or that. That’s not how fundraising works. Amateurs w/money… Meh & double-meh.

Was there last Saturday night, paid $ 30 cover at the door. about 45 minutes after I realized I left my phone at a nearby restaurant. As I was about the leave the girl and the ticket box told me nonchalant that there are no in and out. I explained to her where I was going, and her reaction was, too bad!, if you want to come back you’ll have to pay again. Obviously I did not and will not come back. What a terrible experience

This is the worst club in SF have been to since I moved to SF in 2005 because the Beatbox has the worst management that runs the horrible business. There was no customer service and they never contacted you back when you called and left a message or replied your email. This was what happened to me: I basically forgot my expensive coat there right after they closed the door and I tried to get it back but they told me to call in tomorrow. Then when I did that, it asked me to send an email to them instead. I tried to contact them 5 times by email because I could leave a voicemail. They never got back to me. They would probably want to keep the coat. Another lame experience I had that night was they charged you more, on top of your ticket if you wanted to do all you can drink but they didn’t tell you a certain time that they would stop. They could stop anytime they wanted without telling you. Please read this through and be cautious because they did this to a local resident and think about what they would do if you were a tourist or out of state.

Solid venue. A friend and his jazz band brought us here. The sound quality and stage set-up looked awesome.

A fabulous venue keeping the gay alive and well in San Francisco. I want to thank this venue for installing all genders restroom signs. It shows they care about all our community. The laser system rules.

Nice little club! I went there for an event and the bartender who served us was really nice. The space was clean and there was a nice stage! I would recommend this club for events!

I recently hosted a belly dance & live Balkan music at Beatbox — these guys are wonderful! Both the owner Brian, & production head, David, were very professional. We had over 30 dancers performing + three live bands. They went above & beyond to make sure everyone sounded & looked amazing. Both are excellent communicators, offer a fair contract, and run a tight ship. The venue is gorgeous & lots of room for dancing, the lighting is top notch, the sound tight, the bartenders sexy! I’m so excited to go back for their country & western nights.

The following is speaking of my experience at Beatbox in 2011 and 2012. I LOVE music and I LOVE to dance! And I love the set-up that Beatbox has. The lighting is spectacular! Some of the bartenders remembered my name and my drink of choice, which is a huge plus. The coat check person is also super friendly. Super fun club to go to with a group of friends — not a good place to go on your own to meet new friends. I have an eclectic mix of friends and none of them have any interest in the club scene, so I usually ventured out here alone out of pure love for music and dancing. It’s too loud to really talk to anyone — and maybe it’s just me, but I NEVER have luck meeting people in clubs. Period. I either meet flakey and/or cracked out people or cliquish people who treat me like an outcast. As a friendly, good-hearted, well-meaning person, I find this difficult to take. Anyway, since I’ve come to this realization(after 13 years of clubbing in SF), I haven’t been back. Oh well. Perhaps my clubbing days are over :’(– unless by some miracle I meet a group of like-minded people who will go out with me!(as a woman approaching 40, I doubt that will ever happen). An example of a bad night I had here was my 37th birthday. Overall, I got quite cold reception. A friend, who is not a clubby person, came here with me for one hour until she had to catch the BART back home. After that my experience went further downhill. I actually had people staring at me in the bathroom and making fun of my dress and I actually had people put me down because I was there alone. Needless to say, I left in tears. I was there to celebrate my birthday, have fun and meet new people — what is wrong with that? But I will remember Beatbox fondly!. .. like the time I showed up dressed as a peacock a week before Halloween: D. .. the numerous compliments I received on my cute outfits and dancing. .. and the seemingly friendly people I never really got to know. Oh, and another good that came out of my time spent at Beatbox was the friendly flaggers I met here. They introduced me to «Flagging in the Park» in Golden Gate Park. Since then I have become a new flagger! It was my hope that I could flag at Beatbox someday, but I will just never ever ever venture out there alone again. The flaggers at Beatbox just add to the AWESOME atmosphere at Beatbox. My bad experiences at Beatbox have nothing to do with Beatbox itself — Beatbox rocks, and thus, they get 5 stars.

ah pay attention to the night and the dj’s. sometimes it’s rockin’ other times it’s kinda lame. sometimes it’s mixed. and other times it’s *so gay* you are reminded where you are in the world.

New Years Ruby Skye shut down at 5 am(despite advertising they’d be open much later and open the bar again at 6, ugh) so we sought to find another club that was still open. That’s how we came about this place. EDM and light shows blasted, which was perfect for us. And the crowd was awesome, despite being one of the only straight couples there. Everyone was really chill and drinks were not overpriced and were strong. My only complaint is the bathrooms… like I know it’s a gay club and all… but girls will be coming here every so often and it would be nice to have some female bathrooms so you do’t have to only use the unisex ones which are obviously used for things other than urinating. Yuck. But it was a good time overall.

At Beatbox, the«beats» do NOT refer to the pulsing music. They’re actually the bruises you get from being trampled by a stampede of drunken dancing boys at 1am. Seriously, there’s no crowd control at Beatbox. We arrived seconds before 11pm(to avoid a hike in the cover charge) and were led into a cavernous but strangely generic and anonymous space. At least it *felt* cavernous — until hundreds(thousands?) of people mobbed the place shortly afterward. This was on their infamous IJWFD(I Just Wanna F**kin Dance) night, and the music emanating from the sound system was delicious to my ears. The master of ceremonies was absolutely fabulous. So were the lights and ambiance. My gin and sodas were strong and tasted like they were made of top-shelf stuff. I can proudly say that I have no idea how much they cost, since I didn’t have to buy my any of my own drinks that night.(I guess I should be thrilled that I still have a little somethin’-something’ left in me, even as I approach the ripe old age of 30.) Despite the pluses, the out-of-control crowd ruined it for me. I lost count of how many people elbowed me in the chest, shoved me aside, stepped on my foot, and generally invaded my space in ways that *never* happen at other nightclubs. That, coupled with the hour-long wait to retrieve my jacket from the coat-check(and don’t get me started on the men’s room…), convinced me that I’ll be seeking out other places to dance next time I’m in SF. I’ll probably go to Bootie — it’s right next door to Beatbox, but lots more fun.

Honestly, BEATBOX is filling the void in San Francisco Nightlife and getting it right. The staff and management team are committed and helpful; everyone tries to do their best — and if they fall short, they learn from it and make improvements. It just gets better and better. The sound system is BUMPIN’ and the techs on staff keep it sounding great. The lighting is the BEST in town — creative and fun. And gay events, str8 events, mixed events, fundraisers, are all welcome at this venue. They truly represent ALL of San Francisco in a positive way. I’m looking forward to 2013 at BeatBox. «This spot is hot!» — Lady Miss Kier(DeeLite) Pride Weekend 2012 «This club ain’t playing!
